since u re using django u can try out any of- i)django-ckeditor ii)django-summernote iii)django-bootstrap-wysiwyg. I recommend the last option though.

I'm pretty sure(70%) nl runs on python already with the cherry.py framework u can check it out. Nl is lightweight, fast and best of its kind in nigeria. If at all nairaland needs improvement it should be in the frontend not backend. The backend looks ok. Nl opens on very low end phones which is more than u can say for most sites. Concerning ur slow django code try and reduce the amount of work ur server does on each route i can't help u much without access to ur code.

What I don't get about this case and that of uwa's is why everyone seems to focus on only the rape aspect. Sorry to sound insensitive but if these girls were only just raped they would most likely still be alive. The crime commited in both cases is far more horrible than rape. Uwa was smashed in the head, Grace was macheted, both were murdered brutally in cold blood. I guess what I am trying to say while saying no to rape remember to say no to brutality and murder and heartlessness.

First things first destroy the notion of "best" from your head. Ain't no such thing. Node and django are different tools that reach the same goal in different ways. They use different languages, node is async, django is mature, e.t.c if u know python already it'll be easier to learn django, if u know javascript it'll be easier to learn node/express. You can implement a simple project in both, then decide which u wuld stick with
