okosodo: The favourite passtime of fulani people is going to the church to kill christians. What is giving them the liver is that christians are cowards, yes they are.
You are worse than a bush rat for the statement above. What do Fulani people have to do with the acts carried out by terroristic murderers? mumu

May their souls RIP.

To be honest with you, Nigerians were expecting this sad news and are actually surprised that the sad event had not occurred prior to now.

This is becoming unbearable. GEJ may have to go or resign before 2015.

If GEJ dares to announce that he will contest in 2015, i.e. if his government survives 'till then, Providence Himself will do him in. Too many of God's children have died, suffered and are suffereing because of this government.

Gullible Nigerians!!

If you believe this story, I'd like to sell you a potion that can make any woman you touch after applying the potion to your palm, follow you like a dog on a leash.

What's the name of the bank where the kidnapper was arrested, where are the photographs of the arrest? Many more questions remain.

Desola: so after all the fake display by the moderators, they went ahead to show us all that contrary to their lies, Seun does indeed butter their bread and can do and undo on this site. They have now succumbed to their master's order and removed the Achebe shame thread.

So the whole hoopla was just a charade to make it seem that they were not unanimously against removing the thread? Bloody ashawos playing to the gallery.

Many Severely Mentally reta rded people can hardly walk without help, let alone help or lead another person who needs help walking.

You people are implying that GEJ is ret arded and are essentially claiming that you are more reta rded than he is, because he is the one leading you people and not the other way around.

Those of us who have been around NL one way or the other, for a few years, know that this kind of apology from Seun is unheard of and is a clear sign of maturity.

Jarus and OAM4J, please accept the apology and withdraw your resignations. It takes a real man to do what Seun just did and it will take real men to withdraw your resignations. Frankly you guys are perfect for the Mod position of this section, help save the section.

The bad guys do not need to win this time around.

Merry Xmas and Barka Da Sallah.

Nna, the kind of Yoruba/Igbo hatred displayed on NL does not play itself out in my personal experience at all. The Yorubas and Igbos I know in real life are quite cordial with each other, respect each other, intermarry, and do businesses together.

Where the heck did you NL bigots come from? You people are either very good actors or the most dangerous kind of human beings on the suface of the earth. Y'all make me sick.

Do these people actually hate each other but are pretenders in real life? SMH

May an external force attack Nigeria from the East and West forcing these fools to unite. Amu

Naked power-grab!!!
By your action you contradicted your following words: "ndu_chucks, the fairest, the most detribalized NL the mod."
...putting yourself forward for a position that your "friend" has not really vacated says something - perhaps you don't see it, but it is there.
Perhaps you have connections to several of Nigeria's tribes, so you see yourself as detribalized.
However, your posts are full of indications of your loyalties - disguised as they may be.
...jumping on the tribal bandwagon that fits your "agenda" at the slightest opportunity is not what we call "detribalized".
nwanne m, I'll have to conclude that if a cow, with one of the largest tongues in the 'animal kingdom' were to place that tongue in his cheek, you wouldn't be able to tell.

If the owner of this site concludes that the Politics Section Hall of Shame is not a constructive idea, then we'll have to live with scrapping the idea.

Chinua Achebe's nomination by people who were offended by his latest publication indeed caused quite a bit of uproar and very bad publicity. The fact that GEJ's nomination and induction into the hall of shame last year, 2011, did not generate this much uproar, says a lot about our current President.

I take this opportunity to call upon GEJ to have some balls and fight the ongoing war against BH and other extremists. He should resign if he is not up to the job. shi kena.

9jacrip: I think I tried to answer the Q regarding Irunmole nd Orisha? The cultural roles could be explained in form of hierarchical arrangement: The Almighty GOD » Orisha(s) » Irunmole. Some people often mix Orisha/Irunmole to mean the same things/people while to some they're different entities? I'm trying to share the little I know except I call home to ask but that might send some weird signals cheesy

Just like in Masonry, you start from being an apprentice and climb to the 33rd degree of a worshipful master, same is relate-able to Yoruba belief system, you subscribe to an Orisha(god) that interests you or by inheritance. Then you develop as you learn/practicalize things - you attain the irunmole status when you've absorbed virtually all of it and become extremely knowledgeable at it - for example, Chief Priests of Orishas are as good as Irunmole, Ooni is another example of Irunmole - just sharing my tid-bits and hope you get to catch my drift.

If only Africans would 'come back home' to these 'resources' at their disposal - I know quite a handful of professors/top-notch people who are subscribers to Yoruba belief system (and I don't mean occult).
You are yet to tell me whether the morphing thingy ever existed in practical terms or still exist. Please shed more light on this issue.

In the meantime send me your paper to this address nduchucks00@gmail.com

For now, I remain skeptical about people being able to morph into Irunmole just as I believe that witches cannot fly, until I am proved wrong.

BTW, why are people like Katsumoto and DuduNegro awol from this thread?

Tolexander: nna! If you want any knowlegde ask politely and stop bein arogant.
This was my question: "What is the difference between Orisha and Irunmole? What are the cultural roles of both entities? Thanks in advance."

How is this impolite or arrogant? I implore those who can answer my question to do so. There is nothing shameful about cultural history.

@9jacrip, is the morphing phenomenon you mentioned still valid today and do people still morph into Irunmole? If this still takes place that would be incredible! shocked

Africans do not use their gifts to the fullest. I state here, without any reservations, that I will become a Ifa worshiper or join these Irunmoles if they can morph into beings which can make our corrupt politicians disappear one by one. embarassed

Tolexander: hello, this is yoruba culture and tradition and not english! olórun(god) is different from irúnmolè(deity). So dont make any confusion here.
God and god are the same?
Thanks. olorun implies a single being, so that must refer to the Almighty Allah/God. What is the Yoruba word for 'god', the one with small 'g'. There are many gods, but only ONE God/Allah/olórun. If you cannot tell us the yoruba word for 'god', then we should be able to conclude reasonably that it is irúnmolè. No?

^^^^^^@sweet gala, that was quite informative. How did the current Ooni, being a declared Christian, participate in these rituals? Do you have any information to confirm that he actually participated in the rituals? I'm pretty sure that a Christian Ooni will not be able to partake in those daily rituals because they will violate his Christian ideals. If so, why has he not yet been deposed? If on the other hand, you know that he partakes daily in the rituals, then one would have to question his type of Christianity. No?

Dede1: Can you be truthful for once in your miserable life? I know the hell will freeze up before a simple truth flows from the lips of a Yoruba. It does not take more than the mention of Biafra on Nairaland to send a Yoruba peep into a tailspin of tribally uncouth language.
Ndu chucks what exactly is your business with the office of the Ooni or the 201 Yoruba deities. You only seem to be here to enrage and offend Yoruba people. You have in this thread debased and ridiculed Yoruba tradition.

To put facts out there Okunade Sijuwade is not the first Ooni to be active within the Anglican commune. Bofore him Titus Martins Adesoji Aderemi was a treasurer of St Peters Church Iremo and worshiped there till his death in 1980, though no churches were built within the palace during his reign he invested much effort in developing the church. I am his grandchild was christined at that church as several of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, that is our family church and hold our ceremonies there and my grandmother was 2yrs ago honoured with a post at said church so nothing new.

All these don't take away from our tradition, I know for a fact Sijuwade was denied my grandfathers heart to eat as is customary cause my grandfather claimed he did not partake of such when he Ascended the throne due to his Anglican faith.

I don't want to throw skeletons out that can dirty the royal house of which I belong but I'll tell you this the current ooni is very fetish and practices all religions available to him. He is however publicly Christian.
I'm supprised that you are wondering what my business is with the office of Ooni or yoruba culture. I remind you that any aspect of Nigerian history including Yoruba tradition and culture should be of interest to all Nigerians. There should be nothing secretive about history and I am amazed that you people are enraged by the questions I am asking which were asked for my enlightenment.

What is clear so far is that, many of the posters here are ignorant of their own history and essentially confused.

If your claim that you are royalty is true, I welcome your input with open arms and I say, Kabiyesoi to you. Did you state above that the Ooni is supposed to eat the heart of his father before ascending to the throne? Has this practice been discarded? If Sijuade was denied his father's heart, is he still a legitimate Ooni? Thanks for your courtesy in advance.

@Tolexander, with due respect, you need to read up on your own history. I may be more knowledgeable about it than you do sir. In the meantime, lets hear from Kabiyesi sweet_gala, and learn together.
