Deep Sight: Many thanks for the time and points also: I would like to assure you that your points are not lost on me and I actually agree with a lot of the things you have said. I also must assure you that I am not in the league of those who seek to demonize the Chief or lay any blame soley at his feet. I am of the view that all key parties were culpable in many respects. Gowon for Aburi; Ojukwu for goat-headedly insisting on secession (proably the biggest culprit) Awo for some of his policies and many others for many more. I must say though, that Chief Awolowo was an outstanding intellectual of the calibre of any of the greatest minds in history anywhere in the world.
I thank Deep Sight, Katsumoto, ACM10 and others for the entertainment. Deep Sight's bolded statement above is completely accurate and I believe that the posters I mentioned are very well aware of the accuracy of the statement.

But why una waste so much time with point counter point given your knowledge of the bolded? abi una be debating eran iya ni? una must either be the academic types of ogbanje lawyers. smiley
Politics › Re: NL Monthly Political Debate by nduchucks:
Why are some of you guys trying to make a mountain out of an anthill huh

First of all, no one can be forced to participate in a debate, secondly debaters must agree to the rules and the consequences of violating them. Finally, the judges and moderators can maintain sanity during the debate by warning debaters who try to push the envelop too far, hiding posts, or even temporarily locking the debate thread if necessary.

You people have nothing to fear but fear itself. If the difficulties many of you are mentioning are enough to can this topic, then don't whine and complain about your reps in NASS if they refuse to address issues because they are difficult and some may believe that the issues are too ethnically sensitive. Let the debate continue, if you can't stand heat, get out of the kitchen.

Jarus: Ok ma. Consigned to the trash bin.
Are you guys assuming that the debaters do not have the discipline to recuse themselves, like Desola did, and debate in a civilized manner, when called upon to do so? Let the debate continue jare, these people can control themselves and have a good debate. Besides, judges and moderators are there to manage the debates.

DECEMBER SPECIAL EDITION OF NAIRALAND DIALOGUE: EL-CLASSICO

TITLE:
"There is a systemic and deeply entrenched effort in Nigeria to marginalise Igbos from real political power. True or false. "

TEAM TRUE: Onlytruth, PointB, Dede1
TEAM FALSE: Dayokanu, Katsumoto, Desola

Issue may however arise from selection of judges, since everyone has a pre-held belief about this. Or should we make it a no-judges dialogue, just choose someone to moderate?
Son of a building block!!! I say Ayeeee and have roasted and started eating ma popcorn already.

musiwa7: NDDC or militia get 400B while state 40B imo,Oyo,ogun, kwara,Benue,Taraba, kebbi

So while other Nigerian will get N6.35 kobo.. , People in the Niger delta will get N22,400 while Niger delta Militia will get N4,400,000
Can you prove the above? You will have to provide verifiable data as you now that satellite technology is inadequate for this kind of analysis.

I hope Oguro or Emu did not factor into your thoughts here.

^^^^^ Please forgive NLers. If you've been coming to this section long enough, you would have realized that all Northerners are referred to as Hausas here, most posters are ignorant of the inaccuracy of that kind of characterization.
Politics › Re: Why Do We Have More Of The Hausa's In The Army? by nduchucks:
Dede1: @OP

It is very embarrassing that a Nigerian will vomit such a question and most respondents are dancing around it as if it fell from the sky. It was due to the nepotistic acts of Balewa’s administration since 1961 to have many northerners in the army which led to the first coup in Nigeria. When some of us agitate for equal number of states in each political zones of Nigeria, few moronic ninnies will describe such request as tribally induced.

Nigeria practices ill-informed federal character and quota system without making sure that the common denominator for such system, thus equal number of states in each federating zone, must be equal. Northerners would not have allowed such imbalance in number states in each political zone in Nigeria to exist. Even if it meant upgrading a LGA to Statehood in order to achieve equal number of states in south, northern politicians will do anything to destroy such imbalance. They would even employ the help of goofy southerners to make their bid.
Quit your misinformation!! More Hausas have historically chosen the military profession than other ethnic groups - that's it!

Others prefer academics and other professions.
My philosophy at this point is simply live and let live.

If somebody else's behavior doesn't harm me (or my society), then I'm relatively indifferent.

Also, no sane individual would choose to be gay. It is almost certainly biological. In which case, it makes zero sense for me to beef them, any more than I should beef someone with sickle cell anemia, or who is short, or who has green eyes.
The gay gene is yet to be identified or discovered.

Dear God, Remind me again who are the Sadistic Savages being discussed in this thread...

The Confused so called Perversion Addicted Sexxxual Deviants....

Or the Bigots who speak of shooting people execution style in the Brainz and committing Child Abuse to their Own Children.

Sometimes in this Little Game we call "Life", i get extremely confused at who are the Good Guys, and Who are the Bad Guys.

Very Classy Post Young Man.

Pro Child Abuse, To Subjugate Sexxual Orientation.

Humanity is Absolutely Wonderful.
Oga, I'm sure you are smart enough to take a position on the issue rather than accuse others of child abuse. Are you one of the good or bad guys in your post above?

Sir, please go and learn about the most effective tools of behavior modification and you'll find out that some of the most effective methods are deemed abusive by pea brained folks. Inasmuch as desired results are achieved, a little encouragement, in the form of spanking, followed of course by a good measure of love, will be a tool I will freely use to address the issue.

It is easy to spew hatred towards gay people until one of your loved ones turn out to be gay.

Having said that, if a child of mine starts showing any gay trait at say, the age of 3,4, or 5 years old, I will, Insha Allah, beat that trait out of him before he turnes 8.
