Clearly, a vast majority of Nairalanders rightfully believe that the next President should come from the North. Kudos to you guys for recognizing this reality.

The self defeating OP and other enemies of Nigeria have not provided an iota of proof that these prostitutes depicted in the photographs are Nigerians. All the photographs show is that they may be black (i.e. if they did not photoshop).

Shame on these eediots.
Politics › Re: Realistic Options For Opposition Presidency In 2015? by nduchucks: 11:30pm On Jan 20, 2013
Deep Sight: I said realistic. Do you think Buhari can realistically win a presidential election in this country?

Mind you, I am not saying anything about his desirability. I am speaking about the facts on the ground in terms of public perception. It seems to me that large swathes of Nigeria have entrenched perceptions about Buhari that may render him permanently un-electable as a democratic president of this country - even with the freest and fairest election ever.

Do you think that Ngige is presidential material in the eyes of non-south-east Nigeria - especially after the Okija fiasco?
The selection of either Fashola or Ngige, in addition to the support of a mega party, will make Buhari's electability more realistic than it has ever been. Ngige could help Buhari secure the East and cost GEJ a significant number of votes there. With proper campaign marketing and with a few big guns (IBB OBJ lipsrsealed) potentially jumping ship to the mega party, Buhari can come out smelling like roses, before the elections, regardless of current image.

After Buhari's first term, he will step aside for the new generation. I agree with you that, at that point, Ngige may not be the right flagbearer for the mega party.

thelastPope: They should do an IQ test for these house of reps members. They are totally disgusting. You mean they are aware of this mess and did nothing for over 2 years now? So what is the work of the committee then? The man is indicting himself terribly. Their work is oversight. SO admiting that he is aware of the decay and havent done anything about it for 2 years is enough reason to recall him from the house. what a shameful statement to make. I guess he is not happy that the president has gone to see it for himself and has made them look very stup1d!
I'm afraid you are worse than the Reps you are criticizing. They are not from Mars and are not Aliens from space - why don't you run for office or sponsor better candidates.
Politics › Re: Realistic Options For Opposition Presidency In 2015? by nduchucks: 11:01pm On Jan 20, 2013
Buhari/Fashola or Buhari/Ngige.

Buhari's regime will ensure that corruption is curbed to a manageable level. If that's all he accomplishes in his first term, all other things being equal, that's good enough for me. Fashola and Ngige can take it from there.

@Beaf Sincere 9gerian, you have gone out of your war in a lame attempt to show that this statement, “This is a calculated attempt to damage the image of this government. The Police College, Ikeja is not the only training institution in Nigeria.”, attributed to GEJ is false.

I submit to you that everything you've posted on this thread shows that you are making the same statement as ya Oga GEJ was purported to have made.

Ok o, Oga GEJ did not make the statement, but you Sincere 9gerian, are attempting to make us believe that the statement is true. Olodo

Politics › Re: Pictures Of Illegal Oil Refineries In Bayelsa by nduchucks: 3:13pm On Jan 18, 2013
Dede1: Some people are simply deluded. If the so-called Niger Delta is developed, where would the drilling companies stage their operations, over skyscrapers and shopping malls? I remembered the capping of crude oil well around Umumasi due to rapid urbanization of the area.
You know better than this crap of a post. Over 97% of crude oil exported in the past 10 years have been sourced from off shore.
Politics › Re: Only Lagos Can Survive Without Oil – Fashola by nduchucks: 3:11pm On Jan 18, 2013
Babatunde Rago Fashola: A life without tax is a lie. If they shut down on oil, this is the only state that can survive. Everything that we have done in the past six years was funded by our taxes.
Very good. But Governor sir, since you did not fund anything with the monthly allocation you have been collecting from the Federal government, please tell us where the money is.

Don't take people for fools when they reject you because you are the one squandering your goodwill on irresponsible pronouncements. Sir, keep your mouth shut or get professional handlers to polish you up.

I will not forgive you if you mess up Buhari's chance in 2015 because you may be his running mate.
Politics › Re: Pictures Of Illegal Oil Refineries In Bayelsa by nduchucks: 2:58pm On Jan 18, 2013
DigitalSignal: However, I would want to disagree with you on your saying that the money coming to the Niger Delta is enough to build the necessary infrastructure! It isn't.
I want to believe that your statement above is due to lack of information on your part. Lets examine the numbers more closely using September 2012 as a benchmark. The monthly allocation from the total disbursement of nets after deductions, to the oil producing states are - AkwaIbom N17.3bn, Rivers receiving N12.5bn, Delta N13.2bn and Bayelsa N8.5bn. That is a whopping N51billion in one month!! That does not include other funds punped into the region by CBN and a host of other sources.

Multiply that by 12 months/year and it will be apparent to you that these state governments received over N6trillion (approx $40billion) over ten years. Add to that N250+ billion per year given to NDDC and you'll agree with me that enough money has already been poured into the region to turn the entire region to Qatar!!

If you say the money is not enough to build the necessary infrastructure, you are surely mistaking.
Politics › Re: Pictures Of Illegal Oil Refineries In Bayelsa by nduchucks: 1:20pm On Jan 18, 2013
Kemet: This your maths is fuzzy. How do you want to achieve the miracle of using N20 billion to pay 1 million people, N20,000 a month for one year? N240 billion is nearer the mark.

As an aside, can you think about the social and economic consequences of paying people money for doing Bleep all? Building free houses everywhere? Unless your plan is to destroy free enterprise, individual responsibility and self reliance, your suggestions, to be polite, are quite dangerous.
My brother, forget the details in the numbers, I'm sure you get the point I was making. If you say that spending all the money on the people who need it is dangerous but you are OK with spending all the money on the looters and the elite, then you sir, are more dangerous to the causes of the ND people.

DigitalSignal: Good you said NDDC, and agreed there's corruption and mismanagement in it, but talking about your welfare program, if as you say 10% is taken from the budget to implement the program which would put N20,000 in the hands of 50% of a supposed 2 million population in Bayelsa state, then what percentage would go for other states in the Niger Delta and what percentage would go for other projects? Mind you some states are more than 2 million in population, and by implication would have less than N20,000 per person from the program and also take a longer time for everybody to benefit from it; by the way what is N20,000 to a man with children when he has no decent home, no water to drink, no road to move about and yet the nation's wealth is right at his backyard under his nose! I agree that the governors are not doing enough, but that shouldn't prevent the federal government from embarking on capital projects with dedicated commitment in the region; it deserves more attention than it's getting presently and ever before.
I see nothing shameful about what the NDDC chairman said; how big is N250 billion to be spent in the whole of the Niger Delta, with the difficult terrain of some states? It's not even up to some state government's budgets! Look at the east west road, is that what the people in the region deserve?
Open your eyes!!! There is enough money flowingto the ND region to do whatI am suggesting 10 times over and to also build necessary infrastructure. Its time to start holding the governors who receive hundreds of billions of naira annually and NNDC accountable.
Politics › Re: Pictures Of Illegal Oil Refineries In Bayelsa by nduchucks: 11:02am On Jan 18, 2013
naijaking1: This is a natural reaction to stealing people's resources, pipping it overhead them to say Kaduna or Lagos while the locals wallow in abject pernury. My heart bleeds for these communities that clean and clear drinking water shalt never know. Illegal refinaries will never disappear even if GEJ goes, because now the people know.
Caution: people should not expose themselves to too much crude oil, because it causes cancer!!
The bolded above is not the main reason for these senseless and self destructive acts of the good people of Bayelsa. NDDC was established in 2000 with the mission of facilitating the rapid, even and sustainable development of the Niger Delta into a region that is economically prosperous, socially stable, ecologically regenerative and politically peaceful.

For the past 12 years, NNDC has received over N3.3Trillion ($20+ billion) to help improve the lives of these people. Additionally, the Governors have recieved more than $300 - 500billion in the same period. What have the ND governors and the administrators of NNDC spent the money on and why have they ignored the masses? These are the people who should be blamed for the demise of the poor people of ND.

This year alone, N250billion was budgeted for NNDC, but the Chairman of the commission, Dr. Chris Oboh shamefuly said it would require about N1.3 trillion to enable it fund several ongoing capital projects in the oil rich region instead of the N250, during a hearing!!

To show you how irresponsible these people are, let me use Bayelsa as an example:

The population of Bayelsa is 2million. I'd argue that a social welfare program which would make N20,000 per month available to 50% of the population or 1 million people is in order. It would only cost N20billion to fund the project for 1 full year!! This is less than 10% of NNDC's 2012 budget.

NNDC should focus on providing free housing to the masses, what da heck are they developing in the area? Let the governors partner with private businesses to provide infrastructure and other development projects. The projects which NNDC focuses on do not benefit the people covered in oil depicted in the posted pictures by the OP.

Bayelsans are robbing Bayelsans blind.

Naijaking, stop being disingenuous on this matter, stop blaming the the piping of oil to Kaduna or Lagos for the demise of these unfortunate people.

You need to quit this juvenile grandstanding. What has been revealed to you is the outrageous manner in which ALL state governments and the Feds loot our treasuries. There is no great scandal by Fashola or Lagos state in particular.

Sincere 9gerian, welcome back Beaf. smiley

Only the ignorant ones believe that there exists a state government which does not allocate some money for food and entertainment. While they may not have a line item in their budgets for food and entertainment, they routinely use funding from what is budgeted for Security e.t.c, for food and entertainment.

I'm afraid that it is impossible to determine the amount Lagos or any other state spends on feeding. Good luck in attempting to force any state government, via legislative action, to itemize Food and Entertainment for the governor's office. Most governors will veto such a bill.

Stop being a mischief maker, olodo.
