Odetola and his company do not import fuel so they really did not benefit from PS (Petroleum Subsidy - Gasoline subsidy). The reason Farouk gave for removing Odetola's company is the same reason Odetola's reps gave during the hearings. If Farouk thought that Odetola was willing to pay $3million to have his name removed from the PS report, then he is a big fool and a dummy. Since I know that Farouk is neither of these, it is quite conceivable that Odetola and his company are probably "guilty" of other serious crimes known to Farouk. Sadly, neither Farouk nor Odetola will spend more than a few days in jail, if any at all. |
This should provide a few new jobs in the area, kudos to the NAF. The Nigeria Air Force has completed its International Helicopter Flying School in Enugu and may inaugurate it in July, an official has said.See Chopper |
OAM4J: What eight years? As vice and now president or from the time he was elected president? The question of when to start counting has not yet been answered by the supreme court. The intention of the framers of the constitution will come to play in that calculation. Many legal scholars believe that the counting should start when he was first sworn-in as President - that would be after Yar'Adua's passing. |
^^^ Why? |
^^^^ ![]() |
There is a very strong constitutional case for GEJ not staying on office as President for more than a total of 8 years. The man should not contest in 2015 to avoid a constitutional crisis or worse. He has a right to contest in 2015, but the constitution has not yet been tested regarding whether he can stay in office longer than 8 years. We dey watch. |

They've already succeeded in blowing up Abuja with impunity and with your support you all can reach the same goal as the OP. dan banza. nuclear warhead ko, nokia cell phone ni. |

You people should take a chill pill, relax, regroup, and learn from your mistakes, instead of shamelessly continuing to defend it. In furtherance of this ya relaxation, please read this, for lack of a better term, Igbo haiku. CASHLESS ECONOMY An Ijaw man invited friends for his mother’s burial after lowering the coffin, they put yam. Rice, meat e.t.c. into the grave. A Hausa man smiled & said. “According to our tradition, the dead go on a long journey & need all the food items they can get” The Hausa man dropped, N200,000 inside and said, “When za food finish, buy more”. Not to be outdone, the Yoruba friend dropped N150,000 and said, add this in case Yahaya’s contributions are not enough. The Igboman, Nwabuzo, smiled and brought out his check book and wrote a cheque of N400,000, drooped it in the coffin & took N350,000 notes change, then said, “Nwanne, withdraw when you reach dia o, its going to be a dangerous journey, we don’t know how many robbers are out there, so its better to go cashless.
As far as Negro is concerned, there are only two races of people in Nigeria; Yoruba and the Others!
What would be your objection to removing the above inflammatory sentence from your post? BTW, do you believe in the hundreds of years old belief in yorubaland that "Aro meta ki d'obe nu" (pot of soup no dey spill if you dey warm the soup on top of tripod)? Well, that adage is a doggone lie. ![]() Anyway, proceed with your exercise, something tells me that this will be a very interesting thread. |
@OAM4J, Thanks your cleaning up the thread. As a youruba, you should subscribe to "Oun ti'oda ko da", are you saying that you know better than your ansestors ni? @OAM4J, Thanks your cleaning up the thread. BTW, this ya name OAM4J, does it mean OAM (your initials) for Jesuit? are you a jesuit ni?
Your assumption is not entirely correct. But I admire your ability to see clear black and white on this issue. For me I'm suffering the dilemma usually presented by situations like this.
And I bet you know better than to quote one part of someones statement and conclude like that, the full paragraph you took that out of was making a comparison between violent street action, non-violent street action and this rather violent hijacking. And I was speaking about the dilemma of deciding which one is acceptable in response to another posters comment about street protesters and what it means to "committ a crime" . Please put comments in their proper context This was what I said:
Thank you for your explanation. The only thing that is clear here, is that, the hijack was not a non-violent act. I thought you were attempting to trivialize or justify the violent crime of hijacking, perpetrated by those boys. Is my assumption that you condemn their ciminal act of terrorism accurate, regardless of their motives? I would hope so. BTW how ya side? |
There's no way you can fight the establishment through civil disobedience without "commiting a crime" in the eyes of the said establishment.
Kilode?!, you know better than to post the above igbe. There is nothing civil about hijacking an Airplane with a gun, while endangering the lives of passengers and crew. |
Both Farouk and Odetola are in deep crap. One thing is certain, Odetola and his company have a case to answer by virtue of the fact that he and his company were named in the Oil Subsidy theft report. Given what we know so far, Farouk will not serve a single day in prison. The government is not equipped enough to deal with the fuel subsidy rogues because none of those thieves will go down without pulling other powerful thieves with him/her. The whole affair would be too messy. I'd offer each of the named parties a fine (buy out)at a minimum, without jail term. This way, we would at least, raise another One Trillion Naira so that the government can pay salaries promptly for 3 - 4 months. Alternatively, lawyers go chop both government money and thief money in consulting and legal fees. But Lawan actually reported and handed over the controversial $600,000 bribe to the Chairman of the House Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Mr. Adams Jagaba the day it was offered, according to a letter Lawan wrote. What is the matter with this dumb Farouk, why make things too obvious? Couldn't he have found some Committee Chairman named Opara or Atanda to do the do? ![]() |
Onlytruth, what do you fear? Why do you hide behind linguistics? That's what we define as cowardly, if you get me. He know that will exclude his younger Igbo NLers who may not know how to read or write Igbo and other NLers who will call him to order when he screws up. The real Igbo men I know are no cowards. This Eze and his cohorts appear to be male chauvinists, and effeminate cowards. |
Beaf: ^Can you read? abi you are now a blind bat? I maintain that anyone found guilty of any subsidy related crime including bribery should be imprisoned. |
These people are desperately trying to avoid prosecution. Both Farouk and Odetola and his other Marketer buddies, should be imprisoned if found guilty of any crime. Leadership Newspaper April 28, 2012 headlines "Marketers Offered Subsidy Committee Plane-load Of Dollars. Notable quotes from the article: (1) “There was this incident where a marketer offered some of our colleagues the opportunity to be partners in his business just for us to allow him get away with whatever his company had done. (2)“There was another marketer who promised to fly in millions of dollars to share to members of the committee and other members of the House of Representatives. (3)"It was also learnt that the indicted marketer sold the false story to some media houses, which carried negative reports on the activities of the panel. (4)"Nigerians should not be surprised at the antics employed by some people to discredit the leadership and members of the House of Representatives. This is the first time this kind of investigation is being initiated into a very sensitive aspect of our national economy. Here is the Source of the above quotes. Isn't it interesting that events of April 28 seem to be recurring? Sooner or later, the real truth will come out. In the meantime, lets see the VIDEO. |
Fowl yansh don open already, we don see de ting wey fowl dey hide. If you like you can switch to Chinese language and it will not help you. I know your foolish egos will never allow you to tell your sister that you are sorry for how she was treated here. Shameless Eze and his brothers!!! I am disappointed in you people. Even Sam Ikenna will not admit that the young lady was not treated with respect and cordiality. |
Mr. Beaf is desperately hanging on to a report published on Saturday, wherein Farouk was laughably referred to as "the affected Rep" and EFCC spokesman, Mr. Wilson Ewujaren, however, pleaded for time for him to be in official capacity to confirm the development. One would think the said EFCC spokesman should know about this event if the accusations were indeed true. Must the EFCC spokesman wear a uniform to be in official capacity? LWKMD A day after the report, Chairman of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy, Hon. Farouk Lawan, has denied media reports that a top member of the committee received $600,000 bribe. If the poor news report which Beaf is hanging on to, is true, is it not impossible for Farouk to claim that he never received any money? Farouk claims that he never collected any money, so who are we to believe? Beaf chooses to believe the tribune reporter this time, despite the fact that we all know of unverified reports and sensationalism that has become the signature of a lot of media outlets in Nigeria. I dey wait for both de fiddeo and the dalla bills o. ![]() |
At the end of the day, we may find out that someone has duped the SSS of $600,000 and Odetola knows something about it. This story does not add up at all!!! As Kobo rightfully asked, why have they not arrested Farouk if they have all these evidence and proof? They have the video tape and if indeed it was a sting operation, they'd have someone trailing Farouk so that they can keep track of the $600,000. My questions: (1)Who has the $600,000? SSS, Odetola, or Farouk ? (2)Whre is the $600,000, which bank? abi its under somebody's matress ni? ![]() (3)Where is the video? (4)Could a Sting operation not have proper video equipment hidden in Odetola's office, instead of this freaking i-spy pen ![]() I don't believe Farouk collected the bribe. If I'm proved wrong, he should pay the prize. I'd recommend that you people should use your heads instead of operating like zombies, controlled by corrupt politicians and their antics.
I've also gone thru all the stuff OnlyTruth wrote up until the salvos and torpedoes started flying, I didnt see where he said Igbos were superior to anybody.
nwanna, You've ignored the pertinent issue and decided to focus on the issue of Igbo superiority. What is distasteful is the manner with which your brothers were bullying an intelligent Igbo girl who happens to challenge their position. I reproduce Gbawe's post here to provide you with some clarity. Gbawe: Why can't you just be a man for once by apologizing and leaving it at that? The way you spoke patronisingly to the lady was awful. You tacitly encouraged others to do likewise. Your chauvinism is nauseating to witness and marks you out, ultimately, as intolerant, condescending and distastefully sexist. Apologize and move on. Next time, let others have their say and stop instigating a bullying lynch mob action against them simply because they are the lone voice of dissent to your hateful propaganda.nwanne m maramma, Something tells me that you are not a male chauvinist and you will have no trouble apologizing to sister ogugua on behalf of the said bullies. |
odumchi: This is the reason why we should be conducting things like this in the Igbo language. It would save us all of this hapless confusion. One of your problems is that, once a host accepts you with great hospitability, you promptly disrespect your host and try to control what is not yours. I'll recommend that you go to the appropriate forum and write in Igbo language all you want. In the meantime, I'd recommend that you respect this thought by the owner of this forum.
1. Nairaland is an English language forum. English happens to be our official language in Nigeria. it also happens to be the language of the web. Beaf: Otedola commited no crime. The SSS got wind of the tactics of Farouk Lawans political, '2015 "North"' probe and the sting operation was set up using Otedola.Your continued attempt at defending GEJ and his associates is a disgrace, to say the least. Did you wonder what could be contained in the public subsidy report and other classified information, which could have prompted Farouk to believe that Odetola would be willing to pay $3million to make it go away? Beaf, all you can say is that Odetola is yet to be convicted of any crime, but to categorically state that Odetola commited no crime leaves one speachless. The EFCC should investigate the SSS to determine who received bribes from Odetola and to investigate why the SSS decided to use a potential fuel subsidy criminal in a sting operation. This looks like an attempt to shield Odetola, GEJ's financier, from prosecution. SMH |
This bribery saga should not exonerate Femi Otedola and Zenon Oil from any crime they may have committed. Simple as ABC. When Farouk Lawan, produces his own evidence (manufactured or otherwise) that the EFCC was aware of the money and he gave EFCC the money, as soon as Odetola gave it to him, then una go know say Kaki no be leather ![]() The whole system is corrupt. |
Trying to label your sister, ogugua88, who has a different point of view as a hypocite is, frankly, not surpising to me. It is this kind of egotistical mentality and unwillingness to share the table of discussion with intelligent women, which is substantially responsible for the demise of Ndigbo. You people should listen to what the young lady is saying and put your pride aside. Some of her points make more sense than yours. Stop trying to belittle her with words like "go to bed", "you are being hypocritical" and your foolish attempt to tell her what association she should join. Shame on you Igbo men!! I fully expect you to come out and call me all kinds of names. The truth I spoke is out there for all to read. |
You people do not understand that the oil subsidy criminals are not ready to spend a single day in prison. They will use any means necessary, including blackmail, downing aircrafts carrying witnesses who can provide damaging information, and yes murder, to ensure that they remain out of jail. This is just the beginning, they will start ordering killing of key witnesses soon. If they do not, many of them will go to jail and lose their fortunes - they will kill to prevent these eventualities. Its too late to sweep the oil subsidy scandal under the carpet. May God save my dear country. |
You people should free Sanusi. The whole nation including Sanusi, participated in the 3-day national mournining for the Dana tragedy. When Sanusi and the CBN board announce a N30 - N50miilion gift to each family of the CBN staff killed, because they were on official duties when they died, you people will return here to criticize him all the same. |
