@ Ndu chuks,

I disagree wt u for dt picture u posted and your ethnic bigotry laced run down on d task force commander. U have not proven dt he doesn't understand d terrain and language, neither have u proved his tactical incompetence. your only excuse is because his name is of non-northeaster extraction. When Gen Serki Yanke led JTF in Niger delta, y didn't u say same abt him? When Gen GT Zidon led Operation Harmony in Bakkassi, y not same against him? D first boko haram insurrection Ws led by a non-northeastern colonel ( actually frm SE), did he fail? Gen CC Iweze quashed d maitatsine insurrection of 1985 in Bauchi state, wht do u say abt dt? How has Gen Saleh succeeded STF in plateau state despite speaking d prevailing language?

BTW, d pix u posted is frm Abuja blast.
Do you agree or disagree with the main point of my post that the  JTF sent to the region is unprepared to fight the kind of battle they are confronted with? Lets not turn this into another tribal war.  Even if the picture posted is from the Abuja blast, does that change the fact that the same group is responsible for it? olodo
Politics › Re: Another Bomb Blast In Maiduguri by nduchucks: 12:43pm On Jul 06, 2011
These people have essentially declared war against Nigeria. The JTF sent to the region is unprepared to fight the kind of battle they are confronted with, to make matters worse, the Commander of the Joint Task Force, Maj Gen Jack Nwaogbo does not even understand the language spoken by the aggressors.

They've taken the war to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, it will spread to the West, East, and South soon enough. Look at this BBC photograph of today's bomb blast and tell me it was caused by a firecracker.  Where is the offensive action by JTF? GEJ needs to act fast, else the millitary may have no choice but to take over this government.

@naijaking1, I suppose the in-thing these days is to have paranoia about the Fulani. You all used to blame the Northerners for everything, now you've narrowed it down to Fulanis. I'd recommend that you stop prescribing aspiring to your people and switch to Norepinephrine - err self prescription is also well-advised. lipsrsealed

I don't think these government officials have learnt anything from their American and British counterparts yet. Did the American friends not inform the SSS of the effective methods used in Guantanamo Bay?

OVER 100 members of the Boko Haram sect arrested by the State Security Service (SSS) will not face prosecution, but will be won over by the government, to make them denounce the group and give details of the workings of the sect to government.

Assistant Director, Public Affairs of the service, Marilyn Ogar, who made the disclosure at a press briefing at the service headquarters, on Monday, disclosed that the men, made up of key cell commanders, as well as rank and file members of the group, were apprehended in six northern states of Bauchi, Kaduna, Kano, Yobe, Borno and Adamawa.

Ogar, at the briefing, also disclosed that the service, through information provided to it by patriotic Nigerians, had succeeded in demobilising about 12 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), popularly called home made bombs, in Kaduna State between May 23 and June 27.

Explaining why those arrested would not face prosecution, she said the decision was in line with the “carrot and stick” policy adopted by President Goodluck Jonathan in dealing with the Islamic group.

Detailing the success recorded by the service, Ogar said “on May 23, security operatives discovered and successfully demobilised eight IEDs concealed in small and medium size tins beneath a staircase in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“On May 29, an IED planted at the Post Office area of Gonin Gora, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State was discovered and successfully demobilised.

“On June 10, an IED concealed in a sack placed under a kerosene tank on Engineer L.D. Abubakar road, off Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, by Central Market, Gonin Gora, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, was also discovered and demobilised.

“Information from patrotic citizens, on June 14, led to the discovery of an IED wired with nine volt battery, concealed under the railway track behind Dambo International College, Barnawa, Kaduna South Local Government Area. It was also demo-bilised.

“Also, on June 27, information received from patriotic members of the public assisted in the recovery of some components of yet-to-be assembled explosives. The items include a camping gas cylinder with a pin, detonating cables, a bottle of distilled water, plier, masking tape and clips.

“These were found in a hotel, and were meant to be used to bomb a shopping mall in Kaduna.”

Speaking further on the arrested members of Boko Haram, Ogar said their details would remain classified, “as they are still undergoing the process of de-radicalisation and perception management,” as the government was also trying to win their confidence back to the society.

She, however, said those caught, when eventually released, would be made to face the full wrath of the law if they were caught engaging in anti-social activities again.

Why haven't we condemned all these governors and politicians making apologies, and contributing to these peoples finances?
Indeed, those were the words used to describe MEND before they started to bomb innocent people. As far as the governors and ploiticians making apologies go, I for one cannot condemn anyone who is making apologies to save his own life. Now, if you know that some of these politcians contribute to the finances of these people, as you put it, why hasn't GEJ's government operatives arrested them yet?

GEJ and his government need to address this Boko Haram issue as a matter of utmost urgency. I really do not understand why a state of emergency has not yet been declared in certain states by now.

GEJ's handlers are in the process of designing the worst imaginable legacy for the president. These same handlers convinced him to dishonour the PDP gentleman's agreement on zoning by contesting in this election. His handlers were so narrow minded and self consumed that they refused to point out the dangers of their recommendations to GEJ. I pity the man (GEJ), he is a good man who is not tough enough to fight fire with fire.

These groups will make the country ungovernable at the rate they are going - I have a hunch that if GEJ had not contested in the last election, these attacks would not be happening at this point in time.

Its headquarters are in the town of Zonkwa. You find predominantly Hausa Kaje people, followed by other settlers including Igbos living there. The Zango Kataf crisis was religious based rather than tribal. olodo

@Ezeuche, please do not try to put words into my mouth and stop pretending that you can't read.  I never said Fulanis caused any problem, what I said was that, it was the failure of government to deal with the Fulani complaints of land encroachment which is responsible for the middle-belt issue. I will continue to blame the government for these problems, and since GEJ is the President, the buck stops with him.

What is your understanding of the  Hausa vs Southern Kaduna conflicts? Lets start here.  Who are the Southern Kaduna people, are they Hausa, Fulani, Gwari, or some other tribe?  I don't think you are aware that the Southern Kaduna people, most of who are Christians are primarily Hausa Kaje.

Southerners do not kill each other over land? What was the Modakeke issue all about?
