What a shame..
Who are the insane people defending this government that has brought Nigerians so low we are now the pigmies of Africa. Imagine us having a lower minimum wage that Sudan, Zimbabwe, Cameroon and those other countries some of whom Nigeria was providing welfare to few years ago?
Anyway, one thing we can be proud of that we will claim we use to pass them (according to mad people) is that we have a bigger presidential jet. We use a 300-350 seater Airbus 330 airliner, (the type air france uses to move passangers to and from france) as jet for oga at the top, while those other African countries with higher minimum wage also use such airliner but for their national airlines.

Any average trader with 500 million naira wares is using bank guarantee. It s not easy to gather money like that. From your profits you will build house and then be using that house to secure credit and you don't have a monopoly and you have to also take care of your family. I don't think it is that common to see traders having ten houses unless you scale up your trading.
I understand you, but oga those guys do so much turn over 500m is nothing, maybe a few sales. People that may turn over 20,30,40, 50 forty foot container monthly. From motorcycles, furniture, tvs, kitchen equipment etc. Just biscuits, chocolate bars, nko. What of medicines which are high value products. Imagine a pack of 30 tablets of zeralto costing 50k, then imagine how much it will cost at to fill up a 40foot container. 500m is certainly not much money for a low level importer, when you talk of higher level ones just as how PO was those days, trading capital will be in excess of $5m easy.

These people do not know what they are saying. In naija alone, just traders alone in Alaba market with $1m will be in hundreds if not 1000s, trade fair nko, oke arin, onitsha market, aluminum village, what of that place where they sell building materials on badagry expressway, traders in computer village, omo $1m aren't nothing to those guys. You then talk of the general public including government officials that use pen to steal millions of dollars. Nigerians with $1m will be at least 500k if not more.
Anyway no thanks to apc, buhari and oga at the top, that introduced wanton poverty on Nigerians, that met a country where $1m was 140m naira and now made it 1.6b just in a space of 10 years. Where others were dragging millions out of poverty, these kangaroos instead are celebrating immersing millions into poverty.
To say na 10 years ago shebi some guys for fit claim dollar millionaires based on raw cash for bank, today de de drag less than 100k.
Foreign Affairs › Re: US Blocks Palestinian Leader Abbas From Attending UN Meeting In New York by nedekid: 11:43am On Aug 30, 2025
Countries should boycott the US and hold the conference elsewhere, the US should be moved to a country willing to respect the tenets of the UN, it's neutrality.
Politics › Re: Royal Castle Ceramics: CCN Condemns Release Of Undocumented Chinese Workers by nedekid: 11:23am On Aug 30, 2025
What many people do not realize is that naija is a developing country that needs foreigners, their skills, money, business investments in which case laws sometimes will be made flexible.
I remember when I had issues with an Indian conglomerate. I petitioned the then CP who the assigned it to a department. We went to effect the arrest of the Indian MD, omo the man told the police korokoro he cannot come now, they should go, he will make arrangements to come. The police team leader in my presence told the Indian you mean under the authority of the CP you are declining following us? Me I think say action go happen, that the police will grab and drag him as they do we Nigerians, for where? Instead the policeman stepped aside and made a phone call to his superiors, those ones told him to ask the man when he could make himself available at their office, he said in 2days. Na so we waka commot to my disappointment.
Outside the premises and back at the office, police explained that expatriates like that have to be handled with care as it could cause diplomatic incidence, more so especially as at that time our ecomony was dependent on India being the major buyer of our crude when America had stopped purchases.

Oga south Africa is not comparable to nigeria and that is a fact, they are way ahead of us in all spheres. Is it purchasing power, education, wealth, technology, standard of living, healthcare, military etc. Heck the only time boko haram was decimated and within 3 months land the size of Belgium was recovered from them was when Eeben Barlow and his gang of mercenaries was contracted from South Africa.
How many south Africans do you see running to Nigeria or other African countries to live compared to nigerians running to theirs?. The only thing we as Nigerians take pass them is our population and how big our presidential jet is compared to theirs.

Simply madness.
What is in that paper that makes it so expensive, even if you add administrative cost? Should automation and efficiency not bring prices down instead of increasing cost? Everything in Nigeria under these apc goons is all about "revenue". Even at the previous 50k it was still over priced.
When will Nigerians stop all these government officials that just wakeup and take decisions without consulting people they are mean to serve, is this a dictatorship?

Anyway maybe when the new tax rules comes into effect January next year and people actually start paying taxes, it will compel them to demand accountability on how their money is spent.
Education › Re: Why Do Countries Borrow Money When They Can Just Print Them? by nedekid: 12:08pm On Aug 27, 2025
patomaniac:
When a country prints money like a kid with unlimited Monopoly cash, here’s what happens:

Prices go bananas – Suddenly bread costs N50, then N500, then N50,000. That’s called hyperinflation. It’s like if sardines went from N150 to the price of a used car in one week.

Money turns into trash – Literally. In Zimbabwe in the 2000s, they had bills worth 100 trillion dollars… and they could barely buy a loaf of bread. People started weighing stacks of cash because counting them took too long.

Trust disappears – Nobody wants the country’s money anymore. People try to use foreign money, gold, or even trading goats because at least goats don’t lose value overnight.

Chaos ensues – Businesses collapse, savings vanish, and people get angry because their life savings turn into pocket lint. Governments fall apart. Not a great Yelp review.
Yeah, that is part of what we are suffering today, apc buhari regime was said to have printed lots of money contributing to inflation. Foreign earning while reduced, the little coming in could have been managed judiciously, but rather corruption, living large lifestyle by the political class was exhausting it. Government then started printing cash to settle local obligations, spent billions of social interventions of which we now know was all stolen. The excess stolen cash in circulation was then used to chase little forex coming into the country as most people wanted to save in a stable currency. Of course that was a recipe for desaster, hyper inflation we see with over 22% rate.
Obama did the same extending to Bidens time, they printer trillions of dollars causing world wide inflation, they could get away with it as their dollar is the worlds reserve currency. Despite that today in the US, you hear of cars costing 90, 100k, average suvs that use to cost 30-40k 10 years ago. Entry level cars such as corolla that use to cost $14k today 22-30k.
Education › Re: Why Do Countries Borrow Money When They Can Just Print Them? by nedekid: 11:42am On Aug 27, 2025
Inflation, the more cash you print the more money you have chasing the same goods. Rather you borrow and return the money back. Na my layman explanation.

Mortality rate in Nigeria might be low due to the fact that some used local medicine to cure it.
Local herbs to cure kidney disease? Lol. It is likely low because many cases are not diagnosed as they ignore orthodox medicine for local ones, churches and spiritual homes in which case proper statistics is not taken.
Eg I once told the tale of how my driver had a stoke, but was being treated for spiritual attack.

Opay did the same thing to me on August 16 this month. I made a payment through transfer and my account was debited but the other party did not receive the money.

Efforts to seek redress have so far proved abortive

I'm thinking of dumping them.
Oga leave that matter, Opay is the most open app and easy to get redress. I know because I am a relatively heavy user. Infact if I want to make a payment to someone from eg zenith bank I will send the money to Opay from there pay the person, why, because I know there is no story. On the Opay app it will show you downtime of all banks, rate the probability of the transfer going through in percentage and advice you to try later if it is less than 20%. Opay is the only bank that you can query your transaction and it will show you the sucess with details, time of delivery, the transaction ID number to confirm it went through. No other bank does that realtime rather you have to visit or call then it takes days just investigate.
Oga log into your Opay app and check that transaction details, you can even click on dispute and within minutes you will get confirmation with proof.
It is likely your person got the money in his account but did not know, get the person to go to his bank with the transaction report, it's either he got the money and is telling you stories or there is a mistake at his bank. Start by demanding the person gets his statement from the bank.

Nawteemaxie:
A lady in my street woke us all up one morning on her way to a commercial bank saying hell would let loose that day. She was so bitter and furious that all efforts to calm her were met with more aggression

We were able to calm her down and she opened up to us that her savings account where she left about 8mil was showing a balance of 79,000 despite having not used the account since March.

I requested her phone and saw a series of debit alerts which she claimed she had no idea about, but all had this mysterious narration "ONLINE PAYMENT". She said she had never used her account or card for any such thing, that it was definitely the bank, and she was going to raze the Bank to the ground.

With her permission, I decided to check her Play store, and found out her card had been set up on Play store for subscriptions on an app that was used to design Avatars (can't remember the name now). The subscription had been ongoing for over 6 months, with debits as much as 285k. Upon further checks on her device, I saw the said app, with a well setup profile, and about 3k followers.

I inquired of her about the App and she said it was a cartoon app the daughter uses. We summoned the daughter (a shy 12yo) and asked about it, and she said it was just another social media app she used to kill boredom. I asked if she was aware of the subscriptions and the child said yes, but she thought it was "fake money."

I asked if she had access to her mum's debit card and pin, she said yes, that she was the one who setup the subscriptions, but didn`t know it was actual funds been utilized. The mum nearly had a stroke.

My point? As Imperfect as the world may seem, we should always give ourselves the benefit of a doubt. When I come across posts like this, I just laugh, especially when I see the comparisons and aspersions been cast. Sometimes, just sometimes, we should sit back and think these things through, before we comment or act.
Oga you hit the nail on the head.
About 2 months ago, same thing with my mama, she said money was being removed from her account, that she will have certain balance and it reduces when she checks that it had gotten to a stage she has to go to the bank. I decided to go through her phone, what I saw shocked me. She had certain movie apps, those ones showing Indian movie series, one was taking about 36k weekly, another was taking 16k every 3 days or so. She had others taking small money. I asked how come, she said on Facebook when she sees those short Indian movie clips she will want to see the end and so she will click on the app which will then download, she will accept the little charge, watch the movie and move on. The 16k one had been charging her account for roughly 1year while the either for about 8 months. Immediately I started uninstalling and deleting apps. Guess what, those two major apps did not appear on Google playstore billing, so there was no way to stop the payment even though the app had been removed.
My finding is that when you click on apps advertised on Facebook, they do not go through playstore but install directly in your phone through their own servers, by the time you put your payment details you have give them access to your account unregulated unlike when you go through playstore that acts as a intermediary. Oga as I was still figuring out how to solve the problem another 16k debit came in.
Last last what I had to do was call the customer service of her bank, then got them to cancel that card, that was how the 2 billing among others stopped. Just imagine how much the elderly lady had lost in the past 1 year.
Me nko, I saw Qatar Airways promo on facebook with a space to fill your contact info. Na so I fill am, afterall I am member of their privilege club ie frequent flyer club, na so 2 days later I got a call from a South African number with a lady speaking like a South African, she the gave me number of their abuja office to get the discount. Na so I call, a South african sounding dude picked. I said I am not ready to travel soon but will book at a later date, he said they will therefore double my accumulated miles. Guess the shocker, the guy says to do so, he will send me something to download, but first I should share my screen, or something to do with granting access to my phone so he will remotely double my miles. Omo, see argument, I said he should rather be requesting for my privilege club number so he can from his system in Qatar Airways increase my miles, guyman said no be so, say na manual them de do. The idiot under heavy argument trying to convince me did not realise he had started speaking naija English lol. Guyman somehow wanted to get access to my banking details.
Guy, bottomline, some of this fraud allegations are self inflicted. People expose their sensitive information to fraudsters then when their money is stolen they demand the bank refunds them.
