In surmarry, it means that dangote is overpriced for importers to see room to make a margin. |
Hopefully, atleast if there is one thing one can say of this administration, is that electricity has greatly improved in my band A supply. I probably have 24 hrs electricity even though it is oddly out this morning. Could be the rain. |
kingthreat:Ok ohh, unless so. If it is that, then hopefully convictions will be gotten in court. |
oz4real83:Abi ohh, everything na spiritual attack. My truck driver went to work got back and I did not hear form him for days. When his wife finally picked the phone she said he was sick, I insisted she gives the phone to him, immedialy I heard his slurred speach, I knew he had stroke. Told them to put him in a car and bring him streight to a hospital of which I called the Dr. The guy (35 years old) had stroke, infact the Dr did not want to treat him saying from interviewing them they had taken him to different babalawo and white garment spiritualist claiming spiritual attack. He had drank all sorts of Agbo, holy water etc at doses, so the Dr did not want complications on his hand, besides could they pay for treatments? I said I will pay. It took 3 months for him recover and come back to work, what was in his favor was his age. Anyway, the guy said that night he got back from work, he met a neighbour that he had beef with, that was envious of him, that the guy offered him banana, he took and ate, that it was the guy that poison him through the fruit. Lol, so his family had put that innocent neighbour on notice for spiritually attacking him through banana, of course they started taking him to marabouts and churches instead of hospital. Meanwhile his moto boy that followed him that night said when they were driving back, he noticed the guy had slurred speech and was acting strange, but assumed it was as a result of alcohol and energy drinks they had at the place they went to work. |
omoredia:And what is wrong with Opay or palm pay? If Opay (which I use) had not come on board do you know how stuck we would have been with the incompetence of regular naija banks? Do you know the improvements naija banks have had to make to avoid them loosing their business to the opay and palm pay? How many naija banks will you use their apps to make transfer that you are guaranteed the money will get there or return immediately if there is failed transaction. Or will warn you and give you probability report on downtime of another bank? Opay that you can through the app do so many things eg take a loan, invest in FD, pay your bills, make online purchases, pay for goods in China etc. Abeg Opay is the new ice cream, the birthday cake, the new wife yellow with big headlights and bakassi. |
I see nothing like like fraud here. This seems more like online marketing, promoting an online business seemingly some sort of crypto currency. It is done all over the world. In the US you have companies that set up centers like this to sell insurance to market stocks etc. I see them on TV. The koko here is extortion, and extortion by the anti fraud agency. The Chinese could not keep up with the payments demanded. When this new broke out months ago after reading the press release by the agency, I could not see any clear articulatable suspicion of crime, it was just a mumble of Chinese gathering young Nigerians in a building to commit fraud, what fraud exactly, they could not clearly point out. In this case the greed of officers of that agency has thrown hundreds of young Nigerian out of work, a job that could have given them skills and international exposure, that knowing Nigerians and their entrepreneural tendencies would have made them breakout after learning to start their own spreading and employing others. Who knows, that is how call centers that bring billions of dollars and employs millions of Indians could have started in Nigeria. Ofcourse the Chinese will move their business to another African country where they will get cheap labour and employ thousands, where "ehefcc" wount be there to extort them. This na naija, we too get sence so tay over sense don finish us. We too wise so tay we become stupid. The sharpness de move us backwards instead of forward. |
The importer that will tie down 45m to bring a car in will expect at least 15-20% gain on his investment, the car dealer he gives to sell will expect atleast 10% for his gain and to cover his running cost. So you as the buyer should expect to pay 20-30% ontop the landing cost, which should make a 45m car cost 60m+. |
Op, I feel you, such can be painful, it has happened to me and I know how I felt. Mine was not even accommodation but more than that. Truth of the matter is that life should go in. Do not focus on that guy. Guess what, the guy that even did same to me we later reconnected and till today we are still best of friends. Na so life be. Note also the guys abroad, the kind of pressure that are under to send money ( even when their levels neva balance) is too much. Some of them just avoid any calls from naija. You focus on yourself, leave they guy. |
Asuun:But he housed you when no one else would including your family and other friends. He inconvenienced himself for you any which way you see it. I guess he would have been better of rejecting your request for assistance when you needed it the most. Alot of us have learnt the hard way to reject such assistance. Many years ago my egbon had this friend who recently got married and was evicted, his wife and infant child had no where to go. He met my bro, saying he was his last hope, all had failed him, no where to raise money. My bro asked how much it cost to rent another place, he gave the guy the money in full, saving him from shame. Many years later that guy became financially sound and told other mutual friends he had a grievance with my bro. Guess what it was, he said when he had serious accommodation problem my bro gave him the money with left hand! This guy na Yoruba, we no be, so my bro no even get sensitivity of left or right hand. Him innocently give persin money, him mate for that matter, the persin turn am to beef. Omo, I know two brothers, Yoruba and both billionaires, we their friends know their policy, they will tell you clearly we do not assist in any way, either financially or other wise. They can come to your house and dash your wife, kids or mother 1,2,3k dollars, they can send money when eg bereaved etc, but 1 naira they will never lend you. It is their policy they said the learnt the hard way. Oga never help anybody, if you have money accommodate your family, spend your money on your self, fly your kids to London, France, UK, Turkey for good time, don't waste your money on people that will turn around to beef you years later. |
franchasng:Those kind of protectionism model might not be beneficial on the long run as it brings stagnation, higher prices, less completion. Locals rather should be encouraged be entrepreneurial. What is wrong in Chinese entering small and medium scale business in naija? Eg the Chinese manufacturing nylon products in my premises, does that stop locals from doing the same? Infact from the price point to the quality, new designs the Chinese will introduce will make the established Nigerian producer sit up, ultimately the consumer will be the winner. Oga even if Chinese want to open kiosk to sell cigar in competition against aboki or to do mai tea, let them do. Last last taxes will be paid to government, taxes even the local mai tea wount pay. Imagine a Chinese man comming here to open a tailoring shop, don't you know the amount of skill he will bring, the young folks that will benefit from another tailoring perspective. See, you know all these shawarma you see at every corner been sold all over the country by young entrepreneurs, it all started from mega plaza back then in the 90s, that Lebanese baba that had a shawarma shop (cannot remember the name). It was from there the initial boys that worked for him then left to set up theirs and from there it spread from them teaching others. |
jaydeeking:If it was the US, UK, France etc that made this deal, will you say the same thing, as in hope it will be used for lawful purposes? It seems the western media has programed lots of folks to look at anything non western as likely evil. Just as they in their cowboy movies back in the day, we were made to see the cow boys( invaders, colonialist, land grabbers, thrives, murderers) as the good guys, while the indians(aborigines) as the villains. Just as the Jews from Europe invading and grabbing, killing and stealing land from the Palestinians have programmed through propaganda that they are the good guys while the Palestinians seeking emancipation are terrorist. France, US, UK and others have plundered regions, France in particular, leaving little for those places. All the money traore of bukina Faso is blowing on his people today is proceeds from him taking back his country from France and having more favorable "partners" not colonialist. Rosatom and Chinese will do business with them not on master slave relationship but with mutual respect. |
Some of us can remember when the airport was brand new, Chai, the water fountains, elevators etc. Maintainance zero. Na our way. Every new oga will chop from top to bottom. Funny thing is that our aviation services charges the most compared to other facilities with little to show for it. Check the breakdown of every ticket you buy, taxes makes up 60 or more percent. As in you buy a 1m naira ticket and over 600k goes to government while less than 400k to the airline. |
I did not realise how bad till I saw country fresh ice cream by daily maid I use to buy for 3k now selling for 34k, or Titus fish selling for 9k per kg. |
Na so, nothing we have not heard before. Same thing they said for the previous guy and the ones before, same thing they will say of the next ones. It's called ass kissing. |
Godjone:Ordinary Kenya, You wan compare naija to kenya? Abi you no see Kenya Airways? Even Kenya Air cargo? Kenya where cow de fly inside aeroplane. The day naija will be able to successfully run a national airline you know our we don de arrive. |
iwaeda:Oga how will it affect us because of copart, home depots, copart etc? The tariff is on exports from Nigeria to the US ie goods Americans buy from Nigeria of which their importers will pay the duties, either they absorb it or pass on to the American public. The way his tariff affects us is based on our exports to America eg oil, lead, gas, African foods etc, the 15% tariff will apply to them making our exports less competitive in price compared to countries with less tariff or lower operating costs. Oga the other countries that will replace our exports to the US are not there or have tariffs on them, besides the bulk of our exports and imports is to China, India etc. Infact I think we have a trade deficit with the US, we import more from them than they export to US. Eg dangote is now a major importer if American oil, we import American used cars (copart), we get items from Walmart etc. Na we surprise put tariff on American goids, but you know the funny thing? We already have tariffs on them, the import duty of eg 25% you pay on a car or okirika cloths imported from the US is nigerian tariff on US goods. Bottomline, our businesses are not vulnerable to American tariffs as it is now. We are just like Russia who does practically no business with the US, that us why Trump is threatening secondary tariffs on other countries doing business with the US. |
BrainScanner:Oga streets can be renamed at anytime as obviously is within the power of the authorities. Where there may be an issue is if it has adverse under tones or does not take some sensitivities of the locality into consideration. When my pops passed away here in alimosho area of Lagos, the local government recognised his contribution to our adgbo and decided to rename the street a major road in the community after him, a street with a yoruba name, for personal family reasons the family declined. Despite that for the first time ever honor was given as the street was shutdown for the day of the burial, the local government and people of the area Yoruba, igbo, hausa etc folks played major roles. Anyway my adgbo is decent, a bulk of people grew up together, from grand parents to the present generation. Oga it is the present group of politicians that act in a way to sow divisions. Majority of folks in that charlie boy bustop area or the ilaje street align with those street names, infact those bustops were named by the residents of the areas. I remember back in the day when passing through that area, Charlie boys house was what we will look at as an attraction looking at his motorcycle hung high up. No right thinking politician (without ulterior motives) will decide to go against that community by renaming such a place. Good to know decent, proper Nigerians especially the Yoruba folks have come out to show displeasure. |
Banhammy717:Oga educate your self, don't be mentally lazy, go online and do the "educating" yourself as I doubt anyone has the time to educate you. You may visit youtube, ask Google or better still visit the east with camera, pen and paper. |
This people simply play the politics of division, using tribal tribal sensitivities for benefit. Go and watch the video and listen to what Charlie boy said. He explained the context in which he said no man's land, not in any way saying indigenous people do not own the place, but speaking generally about the cosmopolitan Lagos as the former capital city, current business capital with people from all over making up the place just as cities like new York, London. But of course we know apc and it's type of politics of division, especially playing the ethnic cards. |
Truth of the matter is that with his retirement money it is cheaper for him to live in Africa than in the US. Where he will run expenses of $50k monthly in the US, over here in Africa $5-10k will run the same. Besides that crazy American environment no be place to raise family. |
razzydoo:Omo, me sef get one casino G shock I bought for £26 or so. Since the day I buy am set the time that watch just de work, real akproka watch, the thing no de die. If e dirty, take soap and water wash am e go new again ![]() |
OSUNADC:He should put mouth where does not concern him? If you were him will you put mouth? People that like to put mouth such as Idris abdulkareem and Seun kuti where them de compared to this fellow. Oga the country is big enough with enough space for those that will put mouth and those that wount. |
jmoore:Are you minding that fellow who could best be described as a useful idiot? |
Which yeye tourist destination. So I want to enjoy holiday it is to head to where people are sitting ontop the roof of a land cruiser to get to, after many hours to reach a desolate place with plenty sand theat will get in your eyes, ears, hair etc, or is it to see a body of filty water possibly deficated in, heck we know folks up north wount win awards for their sanitary habits. Who in his right senses will take his family hundreds or a thousand miles to a place like that which is practically another civilization where boko Haram, isil or other ak 47 welding gentlemen can decide to pay a unfriendly visit. A place so distance crime will happen and no state actors can be reached to act, where might is right. Omo, let's face the fact, you want to do tourism in naija, go to your local bar beach and or swimming pool and baff, go to your nearest club and play look or carry olosho (if it is your thing), go to the nearest beer parlor and eat ogunfe, isi ewu etc, then go home to sleep, better still go to the most popular and safe tourist attraction in naija which is church. |
Jostoman:Who here is the wicked, the US or maduro? |
LagosOrigin:Don't mind that useful idiot thinking he is making sense, presido and his lot are buying escalades, a330 jets, land cruisers and prados, £10m villas, dishing out $100k to these falcons, spending $39b of coastal road on paddy paddy arrangement where his son is a director, yet that dummy thinks what we buy is the cause of the naira falling to 1500. That is the same way they came after those talking of the excesses of yaya bello only to find out when he left office how he plundered the state. |
Hope you have given them all their shots especially the rabies vaccine. |
One politician has been saying this ever since, suppringly people on this forum that should be concerned are the ones insulting him, while supporting their oppressors, meanwhile hunger dey ohh. The other day a minister used 39b to renovate a buolding, his son is riding in a rolls Royce with full security compliment, even someone holding umbrella to shield him.. Ofcourse the boy and his siblings studied in England, and use full compliment of private jets and UK medical facilities. A minster that has done no other work more than government business. Yet we hungry people are hailing them. |
Ironfaceman:What do you suggest or recommend FG do? |
jmoore:Are you minding that charlatan omokri or what ever his name is. |
ubimagos:Are you sure you are conversant with his CV? If not use Wikipedia. You say a person that was chairman of a bank, member of the board of several blue-chip companies, a former chairman of the Nigerian securities and exchange commission amongst others, you say does not have the technical know how? |
