Hi friends, I was not granted Visa today at d consulate in Abuja. Below is my story and please I will be welcoming your comments and judgement to make me well equipt for my next appointment by the special grace of God. It goes like this.

Me : gud morning
V.O: Silent
Me: Good morning ma
V.O: pass me ur documents please
She scan through my documents starting with my passport then spent more time looking at my I-20. Noticed I was awarded a scholarship of almost half the tuition.
V.O: Why do you want to do MPH
Me: I gave her a convincing and detailed answer.
V.O : Nods head and ask: why U.S
Me: told her about hw committed U.S is to excellence, flexibility and all dat
V.O : who is ur sponsor
Me: My dad
Asked for his statement and I gave her
V.O: looked through the statement for like a minute, then turned to her computer and was busy typing, then she handed a white paper to me and said sorry bla bla bla. And returned my passport and I-20.
The first sentence is ' dear applicant, this is to inform u dat u hv been found in eligible under section 214(b) of the U.S immigration and nationality act. A denial under section...................means u did nt meet d requirments of d classification of d non immigrant visa for which u applied for'

Pls house help me out on what I need to do as I plan to book for another appointment. Thank you

Hello friends...A friend a mine needs a candid advice!!

He wants to apply for undergraduate admission in fall 2015 but he's scared of being denied due to his inability to secure admission into a tertiary institution in Nigeria(JAMB wahala)

He finished high school in 2002, got admission into one of the Fed poly in 2011 with a National Diploma Certificate in 2013. He's 25yrs old

What are his chances of getting a Visa ?

Does the age disqualifies him from an undergraduate programme?

That he's 25 means he finished secondary school in 2002@ age 13?? That doesn't add up. This kinda blunder would fetch the person auto denial not even age. Once your intentions are sincere n genuine, you'd be issued a visa

First of all, how are you doing?

Your question, there is nothing like undergrad medicine in US as it's done in Nigeria. Medicine is neither undergrad nor grad course in the US. It's like a professional course. You will have to finish a first degree, declare your major as a science course or premed. Then take the MCAT and if you pass the exam and have a good undergrad gpa, you will be on your way to studying medicine. If you don't, you can consider going for a grad course in science, then re write MCAT and see if things go well this time.

This means without a good first/second degree or prerequisites in science and MCAT no medicine.

However, Americans take lot of loans to study medicine, so he should forget about GA.

In a nutshell, the US system makes studying medicine harder than that in Nigeria. Now do you think your friend can cope with this?

I think I should chip into this discussion. There's undergraduate medicine in the united states. It's called premed. You muSt not necessarily do a first degree.
Studying medicine in the united states is no small matter in terms of cost. Most American doctors spend the better part of their career paying back student loans. That's why medicine is more profitable for foreign trained doctors.
Moreover, do you really think that someone that failed out of medical school in Nigeria can cope in the united states? Food for thought.

Health / Re: The Decay In Edo Health Sector, A Case Study Of Central Hospital Benin. by nedum360: 10:46pm On Nov 16, 2014
Sorry for what you passed through. It's a sad situation that's obtainable in most government hospitals in Nigeria. But your whole emphasis was on the doctor and 'student doctor'. Point of correction, the person you are referring to as student doctor is a house officer who is the most junior doctor and is not by any means a student. You seemed to place the whole blame at the feet of the doctor but you failed to look at the system and harsh situation under which they work. The materials you bought which are meant for the day to day management of the ward is supposed to be provided by the government. But because our health care systems are badly managed, the funds are never made available leaving the hapless patient to shoulder the responsibility. Concerning the issue of seeing only the senior doctors in the morning, you need to understand that there's a chain of command in the medical profession. Continuous follow up and management of the patient behooves on the house officer. Anything outside of what the person can handle, they inform the senior colleagues who comes to handle the situation.

I beg to disagree with both of you. Even clairvoyants cannot decipher any pregnancy without any visible bulge. The point here is that the VOs are properly schooled in their job; they can tell when you're lying. Your countenance, being fidgety and lack of proper eye contact easily gives u away. These are time tested principles which intelligent agencies in advanced countries have used to nail criminals to great effect. In essence, these guys know next to nothing about you. They just tweak your psyche in order to get the info they need.

Yea same thing I clicked when I got it this morning. It opened another tab but the content was like Evaluation terms and information regarding grades. I can't find anything personalized like my name, institution and grade.

That's the way it does. Keep checking or better still use another browser like internet explorer.

Abuja earliest date is 6th January while that of Lagos is 13th November. Why does Abuja fill up very fast? Is it that their capacity is small or the volume of applications are overwhelming?

Disclaimer: This is serious post with comic relief to go with it. it ain't that serious!

1. Composure. No matter what you may think or have heard, guys do not want any gangster chic, they don’t wanta woman who will break a bottle on another’s head because they know that may be their head someday. A composed lady has better promise.

2. Beauty. We really aren’tso crazy about how you look. All we are saying is ifyou lackboobs and hips, try to make sure it’s only one and make up for it somehow. A beautiful brain is an example of a greatasset.

3. Culinary skills. Guys marry women that can cookand date those that can’t. Tryand perfect your Egusi and Afang soup making skills. Thisis a valid plus inyour resume.

4. Don’t believe what you watch on Africa Magic, we don’t want a domineering woman. If you cannot be submissive, we cannot wear trouser with you and fight for who is the man of the house.

5. Talking about Africa Magic, if you are one of those women that sit around all the time and have watched 90 percent of all their movies, then the probability of a good man finding you is low.

6. We fear women that watch Africa Magic becauseweassume you that is yourcitadel of learning. Who wants a woman who has over 3 babalawos’ phone numbers?

7. Manners. That head tapping thing you do when your weave is overdue? Stop it. Hasn’t anyone told you it makes you look like a drug addict craving her next fix? Or are you trying to accelerate the flow of blood in your brain? Stop it.

8. Education. We don’t like when women have all these strange degrees such as Journalism and Medical Genetics. Please stick to Law, Accounting and mostlyHome Economics. Thanks.

9. While still on education, please do not go beyond afirst degree. Why go for a Masters when we already intend to make you the Mrs? Too many university degrees makes us feel likelesser beings.

10. Sex. We will really appreciate it if you have a non-existent intimate life/thoughts before we meet. Let us be the ones toteach you from our experience.

11. Independence. We don’t like our women listening to Beyonce. Remember her trackslike ‘Single Ladies’, ‘Independent Women’, and ‘Girls Run The World’? What kind of brain washingis that? So if you must listen to music, don’t do any of these new songs, do Cyndi Lauper, Dolly Parton, etc.

12. Carriage. Guys want women who carry themselves well. This means we don’t want you looking like the Michelin man or all these Christian mothers.
13. Still talking of carriage, when we go out please respect yourself. Even if there’s no food at home, don’twipe the plate clean. When we go to parties, please all this grinding and‘lepa on the floor’ dance steps should be reserved for when we get back home.

14. Guys do not like hairnets, wrappers and late night egg masks on the face.
Thanks in advance.

I’m pretty sure I’ve left out some points, feel free to drop yours. Cheers

Totally disagree with 8 & 10. My woman should be well educated. A masters degree or even a PhD isn't a bad idea. Co's I can't stand dumb assess. She should know how to make love cos its sth i cherish & esteem. Don't care where she learns it as along as she isn't a LovePeddler.

I'm in your shoes, you'd have to send an email from a contact-us link on the WES page and they'll respond within 2-3 working days. My contact in my school claims they've responded to the verification via email. Since last week monday the status has not changed. WES claims they havent received anything from my school, an old federal uni. I don tire. After paying my contact guy 12k to help me follow up with a mere email verification. Now I can't tell if i'm being lied to. fck this country men

Sorry for what u are passing through. Went through sth similar after paying 35k for transcript. Havent u thought about going to the school urself? Guess it would be better if you're there pushing things urself. Also, the American dream has a never say die spirit. So, never think of giving up!
