I recommend using Ultra Mobile. Its service is very strong in my area - the DMV area (DC, Maryland and Virginia), and they have different affordable plans according to your needs - $19, $29, $34, etc. When I got here newly, I started with Simple Mobile which I used for about 1 year, then I ported to H20 (porting from one network to another here works very fast and reflects immediately) but the issue I had with H20 was sometimes people calling me and hearing it ring on their end but the call never shows up on my phone or even when my phone is switched off and people called it would ring as if my phone were switched on, and with this people would often be mad at me for never picking my calls nor returning calls when I never even got them in the first place cry, or sometimes a my phone would be on and suddenly I get a voicemail notification that usually comes at the end of a missed call but meanwhile my phone never rang in the first place! angry, and from H20 I finally ported to Ultra Mobile which I have been enjoying since and the previous issue I had with H20 totally stopped. Funny enough, Simple Mobile and Ultra Mobile are all subsidiary companies of T-mobile and they use the network resources of T-Mobile, the difference being that while T-Mobile offers mainly phone+line services together on contract basis, Simple Mobile and Ultra Mobile are strictly pay-as-you go (as in you have your own phone and just buy their sim card and recharge every month. No signing of contracts involved). H20 is a subsidiary of AT&T providing pay-as-you-go services while AT&T provides contract-based phone services. When I joined Ultra Mobile newly, they gave me free $5 international call credit about 3 times to call Nigeria which I really enjoyed but now they have stopped. cry For those complaining of its service, I would say it depends on the area. Just as MTN network, despite being 'everywhere you go', is not strong in some areas of Nigeria, the same applies to AT&T, T-Mobile, Ultra Mobile etc. If you would like to use Ultra Mobile, I guess you should verify from others using it about how strong the service is and once they confirm it....way to go buddy.

T-Mobile can be quite expensive. I have never heard of Ting before and be mindful that here in America you get what you pay for. Cheap is not always better. The cheaper the service, the more likely it is going to be crappy.

I've a 1derful experience with Ultramobile. I'd advise anyone that likes calling 9ja often to go for it.

But for student visa, won't a one way ticket suffice?

My name is Tunde,Im currently doing a Master degree in Business Administration in one of the Universities in Ankara, Turkey. I just completed my class work and about to start my thesis.I intend to focus on Human Resources Management aspect of Business Administration and currently admitted for a certificate program in Human resources management at the University of California. The certificate program is a practical program that runs for nine month.
I scheduled an interview here in Turkey and so bad was denied the visa on the ground of no strong family ties.
I was working as an Assistant Manager coordinating my dads filling stations before coming here for my masters. The Visa Officer gave the reason for the denial as no strong ties here or in naija.
Somebody suggested i return back home to naija to try the application again and change my status on the d 160 form from studying to working.
Please I need guidance

I had a similar issue like urs. Was told by the VO that I can demostrate my ties better in Nigeria. N that I stand a better chance there. Currently, booked an interview date in naija. Guess you should do the same. Try not to lie on ur DS160 cos it could be used against u.

Be careful before u throwaway what you've for what u dunno about. Getting opportunity for residency is a highly privileged position no matter aw messed up the system. PG training is the high point of any doctors career. N mind u residency is very hard to get in any part of the world. Believe me, leaving ur training post for a slavish GP job in a remote Arab country that has no respect for foreigners isn't what u wanna do. Look well b4 u leap into a ditch. If I were in ur shoes, my aim would be to complete my training. Possibly complete some foreign exams during the training and apply for juicy posts in a western country. Going to the middle east might be a good prospect for a GP earning less than 200k in naija. Not for sb in your position.

Hi fellas, this forum too gbaski. Hats off to you guys.
I wanna make some enquiries. I am currently a surgical resident in one of our Nigerian institutions, but I've had it up to here with the shit in the health sector and Nigeria as a whole. So I have decided to do the unthinkable, to leave residency in Nigeria and pursue my true dream, to do residency in Pathology in the USofA.
To achieve this I need a job that's paying well enough for basic life support and to pay the USMLE bills. I am strongly inclined towards the middle east, Saudi or any other that meets my requirements.
Can someone kindly share information on how to achieve this? i.e. Saudi jobs, UAE jobs etc
Thanks

Your computer records are the same wherever you go showing your rejections.
Until you can prove some strong ties to return home this may continue wherever you try.
In fact moving around probably makes it worse.

Thanks for the response. What do you think I should do?

That's absolutely right. You see, I asked this question to know what your problem is actually.

Even guys with 5 years were denied though they're mostly going for Visitors visa. N I noticed one thing all the foreigners were denied even those with 8 years stay. They mostly gave to female citizens of the country both young and old especially those that cannot speak any word of English. Maybe they're of the hope they can't survive abroad and would definitely come back.

If you have a resident permit in UAE and got denied, it means you didn't prove away ties. So he asked you to apply from home. But not to worry because you still can make it. Getting a visa is not difficult if you do "the right thing."

Of course you can reapply. But first try to figure out what caused your denial or you post your interview here.

I've resident permit. I showed employment letter and personal statement of account of over 5k dollars above cost of attendance. Which other ties dem expect?
What do you describe as the 'right' thing?

Good morning everyone.

Am not supposed 2 write dis on this thread, but because of some guys who are highly informed, I decided to put it here for ur opinion.

That being said, I cud not afford USA education, I decided to opt 4 Czech republic.

I applied to one of d university in Czech, but was sent an email to superlegalize my transcript n bachelor certificate. However, the transcript has b superlegalized both at d ministry of education, foreign affairs n Czech embassy both at Abuja.

Latter on, I was told to do d same on my certificate, which I never obliged.

My question now is this. Does a seal on ur certificate by Czech embassy renders it useless?

Remember, d seal is placed at d back of ur certificate.

I really need ur contribution on this.

Like u said the seal is on the back and doesn't make ur certificate useless. It's only if the front page is defaced that the certificate becomes invalid.

After all the long security checks, we entered the decision hall. The lady at window was busy denying students..I didn't allow the number of blue papers issued to deter me. I said another prayer, ' Holy ghost blow me to the person that will approve my visa."
Immediately I was asked to go to Window 8; I quickly remembered a guy's testimony about window 8...there and then, I knew God has done it..

yes they accept ibadan univ certificate and few other universities in nigeria which I mentioned in the former post.for you to get a government job here and practice at a government hospital you have to first apply for a letter of good standing at mdcn lagos.lagos will forward the letter of good standing to abuja, abuja will forward to the secretary medical council of Trinidad and Tobago Eric Williams medical complex champ flues Trinidad. This letter of good standing last for 3 or more months so either you have your tourist visa at hand so that when the letter is out you travel when its still valid.you will also need police report of good character for job application.you will also come to Trinidad with all your original certificates and licenses I mean current licenses.make sure you have your bond money(560,000naira) you pay either in nigeria or at trinidad when your work permit is ready.but if you want to come here and apply direct after you must have secured all this documents, either you do low grade work like security other doctors did the same or you come with enough pocket money to sustain you until your work permit which normally take 5 to 6 months is ready.

Thanks frank. From the foregoing, it means sb should budget at least 1.5m. Wow. That one na big money oooo! grin shocked . But like aw much person go budget for living expenses before securing a job? Is it true cost of living is very high?

How is everyone doing?
I have been following this thread from way back 2012 after my ND, but just recently graduated from uni with a 2.1 (statistics), I have always dreamt of doing masters and PhD in the US but as things stand now I don't know how that can be achieved. Though I have list of possible schools , intent of writing GRE and TOEFL, the first draft of my SOP and standby lecturers to write letter of recommendations, but my concern is how to pay tuition and other expenses as my Dad is a civil servant and Mum a trader and all bulk money they could come by is at Max #500-600k at the time of traveling and I intend to use NYSC allowance and side hustling to pay for GRE, TOEFL and admission processing. What sincere and honest advice can you give to help me achieve the dream?

Going to USA with only #600k That's a very big ask sha. Though nothing is impossible if u believe. The truth about US schools is that because of the competitive nature, they don't really give that much funding below phd level. But u can get fully funded masters in Europe and UK. N there are lots of opportunities over there. Why not give UK a try at masters level? Make a good grade. Then maybe try phd in USA. Cos usa no be place to go without money oooo.

if you can prove residency and strong ties in the foreign country you are based currently then you can apply for F1. I know 2 people who came to the usa with Kaplan usmle. I couldn't ave believed if I haven't meet them. They ended up dropping out of Kaplan because of the fee and prolly they can read and pass it without tutorial. Kaplan is just like a tutorial or lesson. this peeps are now in a community college just to buy enough time to get a slot. it is quite easy to get visa with Kaplan usmle than applying for masters. so you can give Kaplan a try.

Thanks. I've heard of people applying for F1 from a foreign country being told to go apply from their country of origin. You mean having a foreign residency permit removes this need?

Registration with the Medical Board of Trinidad & Tobago is contingent on the applicant's fulfillment of the necessary requirements. I was denied F1 visa for a masters in public health November 2014. After that I've been practicing in one of the gulf countries for about 1 year. I'm planning on applying to Kaplan medical for a 3 month usmle course.
Dunno if it's advisable applying F1 visa from a foreign country (I've a valid residency permit) or is it better coming back to 9ja?

If you are present in Nigeria, then you could get a maximum of 4000usd Cash at a time up to 4 times a year. It's called PTA. You need to walk into your bank with passport, valid visa and ticket.

If you are not in Nigeria, then you add your pocket money to your tuition,( if your tuition is 10k for example, and your allowance is 4k, you send 14k to your school) pay with FORM A and apply for refund from your school. But find out if they will agree to give you cash or check, and not refund to the account it came from.
