Well, pubklic officials are paid out of public fund.

God forbid, let's say I am making $1000 a month but I drive a Bentley and live in an exclusive condo with mortgage of $3000 a month.

The government, for tax reasons, has a legitimate interest to understand how I support the excesses but the law forbids them from forcing me to disclose income.

If they forced me into a disclosure under duress and it was later proven that the extra income come from illegitimate source, I can sue government for violating my privacy right for non-disclosure.

I said this to point to the knowledge that what is online about the Minister's pay is not official and should not have been introduced into discussion.

Let's be proud of her true worth, not fabricated points covertly sneaked online by her worshippers.
PoliticsRe: Ngozi Okonjo Iweala Is An Author Of Published papers by NegroNtns(m): 9:32pm On Jul 10, 2011
Publkic officials like I said have to disclose.

If you are not in public service and you did not self offer the info, if you can establish that your private company or corporate employer violated your privacy then get with your human resource or legal dept and seek redress.
PoliticsRe: Ngozi Okonjo Iweala Is An Author Of Published papers by NegroNtns(m): 9:25pm On Jul 10, 2011
Iragbijile and ZnO,

I am not saying her earnings is nout online. I get that point!

Is that true she is the second highest paid?

If true, her privacy rights are violated.

The cost of violating someone's privacy rights in US is exhorbitant and a deterrent against whatever benefits is there to publishing her income records.

The posting is independent of official WB disclosure.

The publisher could not possibly in US, be aware of the law and then deliberately violate it.
PoliticsRe: Ngozi Okonjo Iweala Is An Author Of Published papers by NegroNtns(m): 9:15pm On Jul 10, 2011
Except in cases where a public official is required to disclose assets, in US, it is a violation of the law to make pertinent personnell records like actual paycheck and earnings public.

In litigation, a judge can subpoena the record but it is usually sealed from public view, unless it was related with fraud or some crime in which the privacy rights of the subject is then invalidated.

I will take that online record with a grain of salt, I don't care if its in "google" or "askjive".

Okonjo-Iweala is second highest paid official– World Bank

ZnO, c'mon! You do know WB have more than one MD and Mrs Iweala is in a pay band. Don't you know that?

It is misleading to say she is second highest pay without having access to the entire payroll of all staffs of that institution.

It is not always the case that pay and position are a match. Temper your obsession.
PoliticsRe: Aljazeera Airs A Heartbreaking Program About Lagos(25 May 2011 -Video) by NegroNtns(m): 8:45pm On Jul 10, 2011
GNBohr,

Thanks for that response, great input.

Here is what I think of the whole issue - its a sponsored propaganda prepared to buttress and gain legitimacy for Boko Haram's grievance against the need for a sharia structured society.

Where else in Nigeria is that argument most potent than in the seemingly most advanced city of Lagos.

If you show case Lagos as unfriendly for human habitation then you make the case for other cities as even less habitable and therefore gives reason for separating from it under a new social order.

Aljazeera may not be fully knowledgable about the political relationships but their airwaves has served as a medium for that propaganda by the North.
PoliticsRe: Ngozi Okonjo Iweala Is An Author Of Published papers by NegroNtns(m): 7:48pm On Jul 10, 2011
I believe the author of the post is obsessed and narrow in his appreciation for the Minister's track successes in her professional field.

I think outside of Ndigbos worship of Mrs Iweala, her presence in the ministerial cabinet is a success story and we all should embrace and wish her a successful tenure in the position.

Her success is our success generally as her policies will, no doubt, transform the economy.

Let us wish her well and pray for her and not dismiss or discredit her pride and glories.

I think these two governors need to emulate Chime of Enugu.

Chime? Wth!!

You mean Governor "Ikhime" of Enugu!
PoliticsRe: Multiple Bombing By Boko Haram, Gov. Shettima Escape Bomb Attack by NegroNtns(m): 7:12pm On Jul 10, 2011
To those wondering the presence of the 10yr old, its a collateral suicide.

How many 10yr old do we know that is cognisant of the danger, except maybe in regions like Afgh, Paki, Iraq, where explosions are part of daily life?

The child had no clue a bomb is planted on him. The parents had no clue.
This is the work of some devil and cruel individual with no regard for the life of this innocent baby or that of the governor and those within proximity.

Please have sympathy for that 10yr old and his parents and not subject them to public mockery.
BusinessRe: Lamido Sanusi's Performance - Brilliant, Over-hyped, Or Mediocre? by NegroNtns(m): 5:58pm On Jul 10, 2011
<Quote>Macroeconomic policy (which is the main job in Central Bank roles) is for eggheads. Your academic qualifications must be solid and you must have written many peer reviewed articles and books. Its like saying that research or professors shouldn't have solid academic credential</quote>

In that case compare SLS to past "eggheads" that have been in that position.

On the issue of competency/credential mix, I was talking generally as an industrially evolving society.

A construction enginner will be applying hands-on skills. His credential gets him the job, but his/her performance review need to take account of competency, instead of looking back to which university he/she graduated from and at what grade.
BusinessRe: Lamido Sanusi's Performance - Brilliant, Over-hyped, Or Mediocre? by NegroNtns(m): 5:34pm On Jul 10, 2011
I will start with his academic and professional qualifications comparing with Central Bank Governors in other countries.

Such a comparison as you plan on doing will be biased.

The economic environment and landscapes (society) in which SLS is serving and that of the two CB Governors you mentioned are in opposite extremes regarding parity.

To be fair, compare SLS with his predecessors in that position (in Nigeria).

Also, I do want to mention that a criticism of his rapid rise must not be on aspect of academic or tenured appointments alone but as well on his competence to lead and shape changes that transform.

Karl Rove, former White House Chief of Staff to President Bush was a college dropout. His highest level of academic achievement was a high school diploma. Yet, he succeeded, inspite of huge unpopularity for the President, to get him re-elected for additional 4yrs.

Let's start focusing on capabilities and competencies for getting jobs done, get away from academic credentials.

The credential is important, and Nigerians ought to be proud of what we have achieved in that regard. Per 1,000 population we have one of the highest density of post-secondary level graduates in the world.

At this time in our development, we should start mixing expectations and demanding for competency in addition to credentials.

Generally, I like the vision in your threads and what you hope to accompish with it. I'm following the discourse.

Andre,

The story of Kwara is similar to that of Lagos.

In Lagos, Aworis own the land but Bini own the throne.

In Kwara, Yoruba own the land but Fulani own the throne.

Yorubaland extends into Kogi state as well.

Even in territories traditionally outside Yorubaland native aborigines are desiring inclusion and want to be counted as Westerners.

Can't you see how many of your people currently live in Yorubaland? Some of them are never coming back, they identify themselves now as Lagosians.

A new breed of Ndigbo, uppity class and elite.

They find Yorubaland a better fit and complete match for their aspirations in life. They have abandoned village.

I have a bizzare response concerning Mrs Wigwe.

I have even a more shocking response for Ambassador Wigwe.

First, I do not want to believe that this is a true story of events in that household.

This story qualifies for a hollywood or HBO movie.

Ambassador had an opinion about his wife's insanity. Frankly, he was the looney in the relationship. She was okay, she just need a mother_fkr to teach her the meaning of "man".

Apparently the ika don't consider you nwanne to them and don't any part of Anioma, however much you try to sell it to them.

Ogbuefi is wordsmithing and cajoling and wooing to get the people to admit they are Igbo.
You clearly said in 1930 you were not Bini, but you never said you were not Igbo.

Let's say Yoruba claim Umuahia as its land. The people of Umuahia go to court and declare "No, we are not Yorubas".
Then Fulani_ Boy arrive 70yrs later on NL and say to chukwuma, "you know you stated some years back that you are not Yoruba but you never said in court that you were not Fulani. Therefore I own your land.

The people have rejected Anioma and refuse to be Igbo. Even if they were Igbo at one time, today they don't want to be Igbo.

Leave them and their land alone!

To Abagworo,

Your response is the only one with some element of interest, those other dudes are wasting their time.

Chinenye, please teach those young bloods how to talk to people.

So Abagworo, you say Ife and Lagos belong to Binis. Did you actually say that or was that my imagination?

I can't believe your propaganda went that far.

Bini royalty is a spin off of Ife, as much Lagos royalty is a spin off of Bini.

Ife/Bini/lagos, all one family.

When you talk about the lands, that's a different story!

Ife - Yorubaland
Bini - Edoland
Lagos - Aworiland

All three are Yorubanation!

Bini Kings are buried in Ife, Lagos Kings are buried in Bini.

We live and cohabit in peace. If Bini say they no longer are part of the Yoruba brotherhood we say bye bye and goodluck to them. We do not force and rewrite their history to make them submit to our will.

But we are tied together not just in poolitis and culture but also in blood.

The Bini King, Omo N' Oba was innocent in his missed assessment of the brotherhood between his palace and the Ooni palace.

The Staff of Oranmiyan, the Imperial authority of the Yoruba cradle is in Ife, not Bini.
So we understand and we accomodate. In its past there had been confusion about whether Oba of Lagos is a descendant of Oba of Bini. The doubters were shown the proof and the issue was resolved.

We in the West may compete but we are never confused about the who, where, what, when, how of the dynamics of our bonds and allegiance.

There is no land grab and there is no minority, we are Yorubas a race with majestic past and a more meaningful future.

All are welcome in our nation who desire to belong and be proud!

Stop the land grab! You cannot force Anioma State into existence by coercion and intimidation of people who have clearly told you they speak Igbos or their towns border into Igbos but they are not natives and do not share ancestry with Igbos.

Ogbuefi and Abagworo, are working hard on this Anioma project - a proactive readiness for the creation of Anioma State.

Anioma may end up unstable if you succeed in swindling people into it that do not identify with the Igbo cause or identity.

There are coupe of things wrong with the way his lawyer handled the case.

Americans are not used to young blacks walking into bank lobby with thousands in cash or checque.
Their alarm flag automatically goes oFf and they conclude it has to be crime money.

24, 28yrd olds with 4K, 8k dollars, and black , hold on a minute!

, they are trained to get security involved at that point.
