Mcilfero: Hello Nairaland, I have an interview at Abuja soon please I need info on any cheap hotel that's close to the embassy or probably any better suggestion on accommodation available. The ones I am seeing on google no be for here oo (84k per night). Please help a fellow Nairalander Lol. I advise you go with Optima Hotel. 8k for first night and 7k for subsequent nights. The embassy is just a 10 minutes walk from the hotel and the light is good as well. Cons: old structures (but maximum comfort). I’d 100% advise you go with this. |

Wow. Please re-fire, I’m 90% assured it’d be approved. Did this happen in Lagos or Abuja? adurajoseph: Hello guys, i went for my interview yesterday and got rejected. Will post transcript soon. But for some background.
I am applying to the for masters in information systems and specializing in business analytics. No funding 43,000 sponsored by my mother with a surplus of this available balance in her account. I have a good travel history. Been to USA 2x as an adult, and travelled to over 7 countries, 4 outside africa, never stayed more than a month, schooled in Ghana, mom has always been sponsoring me. And owns her business.
When i went for the intervew, the VO asked if i have a relative there I honestly told him yes, because i have visited him during my first travel there.
He went as a student there and during his opt he got married and has a kid. And only visited nigeria twice for the wedding and to see the family. And he works with Tesla.
Surprisingly the VO was really drilling me why he didn't return after his studies, and that "if he didn't return what is the assurance i would?", I was honestly nervous at this point because i didnt expect that type of question.
He also drilled about financing the masters which i feel my mother can and will pay as she sponsored my sister to also do her masters in canada with no issues and my mother has enough savings to sponsor me for a year.
I was told i didnt qualify and was given a yellow paper stating the reason. Which talked about ties to return but when he told me i didn't qualify i believe i heard for financial reasons.
To be honest i got really nervous when he started really probing about my brother even tho he is there LEGALLY. What do you guys feel?
I want to reapply because i feel i can defend my reasons, what do you guys feel? Any advice? |

Hi guys,
I’d be going to Western Illinois University for a fully-funded direct-PhD in Civil Engineering. Please I have a sister down south in Arizona. She went for studies and later converted her status to Legal Permanent Residency as she got married. . Would this be a problem for me during my interview?
Thank you. |

Malone122: try call them and see if it’s an issue that’s your best shot The customer care officer said it wasn’t an issue when I called. Then said I should explain to the consular on the interview day. But now I’m seeing this in one of their emails (image attached)

Good afternoon guys,
So while booking an appointment, e.g. someone booked his “first name” as Samuel in the “First Name field” on the visa appointment page. Later found out that they meant both first name and middle name for that field I.e. Samuel Chigozie. Now the site won’t allow for a change.
Is this going to be a problem?
NB: On the passport it shows “Samuel Chigozie” under Given Name(s)
Thanks |

Hello guys, Thanks for the help thus far. If you fill in your application that you want your passport in Lagos after being stamped (you had your interview in Abuja). Would they really do that or the only option is you pick it up in Abuja? |

Hello guys,
Please on the DS-190 where they said “Who’s paying for yo trip”, for a fully-funded PhD program, would I need to give the school details? (or department?). If yes, what do I then fill for “Relationship to You”.
Or do they mean who’s paying for my flight?
Thank you. |

Hi guys,
Please I need a little information. This question must have been answered before but I have scanned through recent pages and yet couldn’t find anything..
Please my sponsor uses a FirstBank account, and it’s not among the MBS list of banks . Is it going to be a problem? What should I do.
Also, My 30kCAD will be available from this month (hoping on getting an admit by March), hence, 3 months.. does it affect the 6-months policy?
Thank you very much for an anticipated answer |

So technically applying for a visa a year ahead is breaking the rules right? Chonco: I also stated that. 120 days prior the school start date. |
Travel › Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by nelmc: 8:21pm On Dec 30, 2020 |
Pardon me. Regarding to what you said about applying for a visa too early being against the rules, please kindly explain the circled on the image below. Thanks Chonco: It's very early and against the rules.
You can get your visa 120 days/four months before the fall semester starts.
And can only travel 30 days prior to the start state. If you travel before 30days, it's an issue at the POE
