I have no issue with muslims, I wanted to stop arguing with muslims, but when I see a muslims quote verse out of ignorance from the bible, then I will reply him and add my question. The verse is in the bible , yes or no ? Was it practised by the "chosen people of god" ? stop being ashamed of your god, you are supposed to love him and his laws unconditionally, not cherry pick. |

opribo: That girl should be arrested and all those supporting her for blackmail. she willingly consented to all the things that happened to her and now she thinks she can mislead the masses to sympathies with her, to say the least she must be an international olosho She can't give consent because she was underage. Audu and his gangs committed statutory rape. |

TonyeBarcanista: This is what I don't get to understand from pro-sugabelly fans.
Which abuse are you talking? Did the abuse happen before or after they had affair? Did you read that she was foerced to have their first sex or second? Did you read her continuous stalking of the said abuser? It s irrelevant whether she's been relating her frustration of not getting him back for four or forty years. The fact is that she was never abused at any time. Beside, I have never seen a situation when relationship gone bad equates abuse.
Her only accusation while she was with him was that he sleeps with other girls to get back at her. Is that abuse? Abeg shift You are not the girl and you can't determine whether she was abused or not, except you were part of the story from the beginning and if that is the case you can ignore the rest of my comment. You based your writeup on some of the "facts" and prematurely concluded that the girl is trying to blackmail audu. Who does that ? if inconsistency is the basis for guilt/innocence, then no one will ever be guilty of any offense because a consistent full-proof story has never been told. She was underage when the "relationship" started and their is nothing new about victims getting attached to their abusers. Now that she has regained her consciousness it is rather unfortunate that some people are trying to shut her up. Cases like these depends more on context than "facts". |

If the girl was 17 at the time, all the "facts" in this article are meaningless because an underage cannot give consent.
For all other offense the accused is innocent until proven guilty but it is the opposite for rape allegations.
And for all those threatening that the Audu's will open sugabelly "can of worms", that will be counterproductive because 1. sugabelly is the first attacker and any story audu churn out will be seen as cooked up. 2. The one who is down have no fear of falling. |

Well, I agree it is not love but people should stop getting married to partners who doesn't fit their lifestyle. In fact from a psychological point of view , children from an average home have the "drive for success" edge. Motivation is the number one key to success, if you are born to a trillionaire family without motivation one will become just another "rich man pikin" with no personal achievement. So, I wouldn't say they are billionaires because their parent were rich but because they wanted to and pursued their dreams. |

Ghandi12: This is an important discuss I would have loved to be actively involved but for other important things.
While we can analyze the preponderance of the backers of this hostility I am more worried about how this will affect Nigeria.
Russia, China, North-Korea, Iran and other aligns have put nobody in doubt they are not America fans - these nations have been envisaging possible big friction with the west for about a decade now. In my opinion they would not be more surprised than the west if a war eventually breaks out.
I also agree NATO will be fronting for the western powers again. While the US is unarguably ready to enforce their dominance on the globe anytime I still see them applying caution when it comes to direct face-off with Russia. In addition, the western Europe have not really been excited by wars post Gulf war. They are also, currently, facing internal immigration crisis that is not abating soon.
American ships have sailed close to the China new Island, China has sailed closed to a disputed island with Japan, Russia has more than once crossed into other sovereignties and many more showboating.
I see this war in Black or White (no grey zone) - If it happened there will not be a celebrating victor ; as the damages will be too much to savor any victory.
Russia reaction to Turkey's salvo will make the picture become clearer in the coming days... Your analysis would be apt if wars are all about egos. I'm sure Putin is wise enough not to engage in any direct confrontation because china as we know it will simply abstain from such and will wait for the two sides to be tired and worn out before entering as a a strong "saviour" force. China will be the beneficiary of any major war between Russia and the west. Also, Turkey can make Syria another hell-hole afghanistan for the Russians because they control the flow of Jihadis into Syria, if they decide to fully open their borders, Putin will be enmeshed in a very long war. |

If we do that , then the law will become useless , since there is always a chance a convict might be innocent. |
Science/Technology › Re: Why Is It That Africans Are Not Scientific Inclined? by neocortex: 1:12pm On Nov 25, 2015 |
johnydon22: There are two factors that contributed to the kind of pitiable state of Africans or Africa in terms of Science..
Cultural factor: A kind of mindset that Science is a foreign culture, Cultural restrictions and an undying effects of such dangerous mindset to the curiosity of a young mind in scientific enquiry.
Idiotic superstition have bolted Africans into such a state of chronic idiocy that most times it is sad to watch.
A bird fell from the sky---> Scientifically for one to ascertain what really went wrong with the creature, enquiry and deep study of the details and available datas can reveal such.
To an African -----> It's witchcraft.
Someone gets a headache, witches and enemies did it..
Religious Factor:: I have often watched in total sadness and dismay as many young minds on nairaland tag Science the work of devil..
How can Science in african ever improve when religious beliefs have murdered the minds of the youths, when their curiosity to know what is has been killed, when the youths see results of consistent deductions and approximations (science) to be an enemy because most of their dearly held ridiculous religious beliefs falls to mere idiocy in the face of scientific explanation.
therefore science is seen as an enemy..
We can never improve scientifically in this age that is marked by scientific wonders if we keep deluding our youths with such absurd ideas.
I have always affirmed that the only way to murder the intellectual development of our species is to indoctrinate in them as children unsubstantiated beliefs and superstitions of primitive men..
African is a typical case study.. I will go for Superstition and fear of the unknown as the first and major cause. Even those who don't necessarily believe in the god of thunder, intuitively act otherwise, there is this widespread unconcious believe that there are some things you must never question or you face the consequence. Some lectures/researchers in our higher institution are not left out of this superstition as they often reinforce local believe that "we are just doing this and only god has the answer". How do you expect someone to stretch his intellectual limits under those circumstances. While superstition is not peculiar to Africans as history taught us, but many societies were able to throw off most of its yoke through cultural evolution and civilization. Unfortunately for us our evolutionary clock is being set back by our imported beliefs, it is as if we just started from scratch once again. I believe it is easier for a society to make advancement based on their cultural perspectives and local beliefs than a foreign one. We have Japan and Germany as a case study. African are known to celebrate and revere "foreign" things so why do we then reject "foreign science" ? It is obvious that "foreigness" of science is not the cause. Finally, the solution lies in massive re-orientation starting from the primary school level. It is time we elevate scientific inquiry to where it should be. If we cast our net wide enough then I'm optimistic we can catch the sharks! |
