obailala: They are released and then re-arrested again; there lies your own answer, it is a loophole in the law.
For so long, the elite have always exploited loopholes in the constitution to escape their grievous crimes with just a slap on the wrist. But these days, it appears with the political will, the FG is now checkmating the elite my also exploiting constitutional loopholes. Releasing an accused from custody has nothing to do with the elite, it is a universal right enshrined in our constitution but because our dysfunctional security agents have turned themselves to gods and will detain a suspect as long as they wish, many Nigerians have come to believe(erroneously) that they are helpless against the system. Releasing an accused from custody is not a loophole, it is called human rights, you cannot indefinitely detain an accuse without a court order. No sane country does that. This is the case of FG sacrificing Nigeria's constitution on the alter of fighting corruption. Tell us what is the benefit of keeping the accused in custody ? If they turn out not to be guilty , will FG refund their lost time ? |

To me, once you get a bail for a particular offence, that does not mean you cannot be arrested for another offence. As far as I’m concerned, the government has even been very gentle and constrained in doing its job and dealing with this monster of corruption.

I don't know enough about Buhari to give a full opinion, but I'm quite interested. Seeing the Post write about it interests me even more and makes me question the narrative bc I know many potentially great African leaders are often derailed in Western press. It seems as soon as something good may come for an African nation whom we've had our hands in the pockets of, we find a way to cast the leader/party/movement in a negative light (amongst other hands on tactics).
I would say though, that we should all be careful when we find ourselves willing to trade freedoms for security. Just bc the West does it doesn't make it right. Your comment reeks with utter selfishness, why will you term indefinite detention and flouting of court orders a good thing. African have a history of leaders who transform from a self-acclaim "saviour" to despots(Idi Amin and Mugabe comes to mind), it is the duty of the informed citizens to oppose such transitions. How happy will you be if you or a relation is indefinitely detained by a government who believes it has the moral right to do so even though the court says otherwise. Note: I assume you are an american citizen who believes in democracy and human right, if not kindly ignore my comment. |

And how sure are you that most christians havent even read vastly than self acclaimd atheists? The only difference is that we recognize and can filter out crap. Stop trying so hard, atheism is not synonymous to science.
"An atheist is someone who is certain that God does not exist, someone who has compelling evidence against the existence of God. I know of no such compelling evidence." - Carl Sagan
The Bible stands tall always even throughout all the years science thought it had it right and the Bible got it wrong before more findings confirmed the scriptures.
Ill leave you with these quotes by Bernard Ramm.
“Jews preserved it as no other manuscript has ever been preserved. With their massora they kept tabs on every letter, syllable, word and paragraph. They had special classes of men within their culture whose sole duty was to preserve and transmit these documents with practically perfect fidelity–scribes, lawyers, massorettes.”
“In regard to the New Testament, there are about 13,000 manuscripts, complete and incomplete, in Greek and other languages, that have survived from antiquity.”
“A thousand times over, the death knell of the Bible has been sounded, the funeral procession formed, the inscription cut on the tombstone, and committal read. But somehow the corpse never stays put.”
“No other book has been so chopped, knifed, sifted, scrutinized, and vilified. What book on philosophy or religion or psychology or belles lettres of classical or modern times has been subject to such a mass attack as the Bible? With such venom and skepticism? With such thoroughness and erudition? Upon every chapter, line and tenet?”
“ The Bible is still loved by millions, read by millions, and studied by millions.”
Merry christmas. Unforunately , all your quotes were hogwash but you chose to accept them on faith. It is a fact that no original pre-jesus bible manuscript exist, so much for preservation. |

ayoku777: While his explanation might not be a definite proof of God, I get what he is trying to say.
The universe is the fabric of all things physical existence. The universe consists of space, time, matter and energy. It is the enclave of physical reality.
So if the universe has a beginning (according to the NASA diagram), it automatically means that there is another existence outside the physical existence (universe)
It means that there is something outside the universe (space, time, matter and energy); that pre-existed the universe (space, time, matter and energy); that created the universe (space, time, matter and energy); and controls the universe (space, time, matter and energy).
Something that pre-existed time, and doesn't dwell in time, but that created time and controls time. Same thing for space, matter and energy.
It means something exists out there outside physical reality. Something exists outside our universe (our space, time, matter and energy) where there should be "nothing". And that "nothing" is active and powerful enough to create the universe with its space, time, matter and energy.
It other words, outside the universe, outside our fabric of reality is an active, powerful and creative "nothing"
There is no scientific explanation for this other than the biblical definition of Elohim (God).
Its thought provoking actually, for those who need scientific objectivity to believe in God, or a God. But I don't even need scientific objectivity to believe in God.
Shalom. Are there "things" that exist before the universe ? Even if we are to believe that the universe has a beginning , there is nothing beyond speculation to suggest that the "creator" himself does not have a beginning which create an "infinite creators" problem. It is wrong and out of place to try and "prove" the existence of a supposedly extra-logical creator using logic. |

In the US, if you raise a small pocket knife at a police officer from 50 meters away, he gun you down immediately as that is a threat to his life and the US government. In the video, I heard the riff raffs saying even if the President came their, the would allow him passage except their mallam authorized so. What more could have been done to the lawless creatures? Your point is baseless as that road is a public road, the Shiite block public road and the COAS happens to be passing at the time(there were other starnded Nigerians) and he decided that their punishment should be death. As if that was not enough the military went to their headquarters to kill more for constituting "nuisance", yet you are so full of energy to defend such barbaric act. They are "riff-raffs" and therefore must be killed, what a logic! I don't know of anywhere in the world were the punishment for blocking road is massacring an entire group of people. Even ISIS will cringe at that kind of unwarranted attack. As to a police in US shooting a man with a pocket knife, how many medals of honor does he get for that ? Is he proud of what he did or does he hide his head in shame ? Do the citizens come out en-masse to condemn or praise such officers ? You might think you fare better than them but you could be the next "riff-raff" and everyone will also be looking for reasons to justify the army's atrocity against you. |
