You should have created a thread for this post na. So that it can be pushed to front page. This great story of yours should not miss in between another thread. We hardly hear this kind of inspiring stories now a days. Thank you so much. Lesson from your story is that the humble beginnings of anything one decides to venture into is just a vehicle taking the person to their great destination. Only if the person is ready to accept starting small and endure the rough patches encountered on the way to the great destination. Psoul: Guys bookmark this thread. If this guy will be consistent in doing this job with all humility, focusing on getting better daily, it will not be too long when we will also hear his success story.
Never u despise ur humble beginning.
I could remember when I lost my job, I started "TYPE YOUR DOCUMENT HERE" business. . Hope u understood that. I was typing documents for people. Job u will see 95% of ppl doing it was females. I started doing that job without shame. I was already touching money before i went back to that level.
Some people will enter my small shop and ask, who is the one typing and when I tell them I am the one, they will be like Ahhhh.....Oga na u wan type. I will say yes. I was and still very good in computer applications and has relatively good command of English language.
I will pick up their job, type it and made great corrections for them. Some of them, I will just ask them to tell me what they want and I will put it down for them in papers.
Quality of my job made me to become very popular within the town. One day the High Court in my area had light issue and the court clerk came to my shop to run court documents. Court documents has a special way it is written and designed. When the sample of it was given to me, I did it so perfectly that when the Clerk went back, his boss asked who did such a great job. That was how they gave me contract to be handling all their documents. Money don dey come oo.
Secondly, the same happened one day the Local Government Chairman was passing around my shop with his driver. They stopped over to make a print out. Unfortunately, he doesn't have his Letter Headed Paper. I told the driver not to worry as I will design one for them. I did and the man was so happy for saving that situation. He gave me money that was over 15times over my charge for the service.
He gave me his card and invited me to his lodge, where I used his computer to do many other jobs for him. That was how I became his friend from 2009 till today. He is now like a brother to me. He is a big politician in Abuja and still comes down here to visit me.
Few day ago, he call me and said......You are an Auditor, I said yes. He said, I want you to audit my hotel for 5yrs period. Get your team, put up ur proposal and tell me how much it will cost you to do that. Don't give me charge like a friend. Give me ur charge like business transaction.
He has also introduced me to so many of his big guys.
One thing he said to me one day.
"For all those periods I was the L.G Chairman and PA to Governor on Security, all my confidential documents passed through you, I never heard any of my confidential stuff outside. You protected my official and confidential data. I love you for that."
I used that "TYPE YOUR DOCUMENT HERE" job to get married to my beautiful wife.
Now, I can boast of setting up good business for me and another for my wife and also has a regular job as and Auditor.
When i was doing my typing job, I extended to helping students do their assignment and doing research job for them for their final year Projects. I charged good money for that especially those lazy students. Some will tell me to write their project, type and bind after corrections have bn made.
I letter employed 2 young ladies and even started doing computer training for people.
Boy, never u despise that humble beginning. One man one day after I finished typing his documents (He is a lecturer) he paid me N100 and asked me, is this what you will hope on to get married and train your children? You can imagine how I felt that day. As God would have it, after a while, I got 1yr contract lecturing job in the same university that man teaches through one Director in the school. |

Wow. I can imagine how devastating it was and has been for these families even after almost 19 yrs later. Life can never be the same for anyone after the loss of a dear one but just know that you're a strong woman and our latter days in life will be greater than the beginning. descarado: I know that case very well. Shell directors lost their kids there. Actually, Shell md was in our house when it happened and his son was among. I know 5 kids there by association. It was like a black Friday for us that day. My big bros colleague and friend lost his only son, Shell md lost his. Another family friend lost 2 kids and I have forgotten how I know the other kid. The family that lost 2, I think the wife died later. One managed to get 1 after ivf in Holland then and lost the boy.
After that incident, parents narrowed down the choices they made concerning their kids education and herd mentality.
It's not everybody that has the mental capacity to endure great loss. One of my aunt lost her 2 kids and lost it mentally even though she had other kids later. |

Hmmmmm I can imagine. So sorry. Don't know if you remember the 2005 Dec. Sosoliso airline that only 2 people survived (ie Late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya's Personal Assistant and a student then Kelechi or so now in the US), now there was a woman who lost all her 3 children on that plane crash. Is now I know that that woman needs to be given a trophy. How in the world could she and her husband survive that trauma and went on the following year 2006 to give birth. Can't forget because newspaper carried the news that she has given birth and that child should be 18yrs now. Indeed this life is a mystery descarado: When I lost my child yrs back,I was semi mad but didn't know. I didn't cry. Was just wandering up and down our area cos it was so sudden and learnt afterwards that dh was following me from afar. People who know me will greet or hail, i didnt know, my husband will just give them sign from afar to leave me alone, how much more 4 kids. Living is useless na. Your mind will just go blank. |
Politics › Re: LASG To Translate Lagos State Laws Into Yoruba Using AI by neoG(f): 9:24am On Jul 11, 2024 |
Lol aswani: Let me summarise governance for you.
It is made up of different ministries, each carrying out their work to the best of their knowledge and ability based on the budgets they have been given.
I believe IT in Lagos state government is under the Information Ministry, I might be wrong on that, they are spending monies allocated on what they have agreed would be beneficial to the state after a series of meetings.
That the average Lagos state indigene is suffering does not mean all government monies should be redirected into just one pot to alleviate that suffering.
Other relevant ministries are, I am sure, using their allocated budget to ensure they are doing their best to reduce poverty levels in the state.
Tinubu's Lagos state government brought in IT systems that ensured all the disparate systems being used by different Lagos state government agencies could talk to each other and were eventually homogenised (especially the ones to do with Salaries and Tax). They didn't do this when there was no suffering in Lagos. |

Lol. If it is possible for Tinubu to rule more years than the 8 years provided in the constitution, I will prefer it and trust me I will vote for him. Because Nigerians loves suffering and will always have explanation to make on behalf of their incompetent leaders. Don't worry I know your job is to keep explaining the failures of your pay master just to look right. You go explain tire. Tareq1105: The problem with people like you is you think you know it all whereas you don't know anything.
Do you know the number of information and opinions available at the desk of the president before he took this decision?
You think Tinubu is stupid? Definitely not. You think he doesn't want his govt to succeed? He wants to succeed. You think you have 10% of the information at his disposal? Definitely not.
What makes you think Tinubu hasn't looked through this your suggestion?
Tinubu have access to many options and he's determined to end farmers/herders clashes. We should please allow him to solve this problem in his own way. When next your preferred candidate gets there, he can change it to suit his own belief. |

Like seriously. I am getting weak daily for this nation. Now I have concluded that APC is not a party but a satanic agenda under the disguise of a party. Who in his right senses will do such thing when we have a Ministry of Agriculture? Is livestock not part of agriculture or was I misled by my teachers who taught me in secondary school? Even if he wanted to create such, it should have been a Parastatal or a special department under Ministry of Agriculture. Nairaland APC warriors till now does not know that they are being deceived with small change they give them while their pay masters siphon billions to their own account. THIS NEW MINISTRY CREATED IS JUST TO KEEP WASTING THE NATION'S MONEY AND DRIVING THE COUNTRY INTO DEBT WHEN THE NEW MINIMUM WAGE TILL NOW NOTHING HAVE BEEN SAID IS A JUST THE FINAL CONFIRMATION THAT TINUBU AND HIS COHORTS DOES NOT MEAN WELL AT ALL FOR US. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS ADMINISTRATION IS JUST TO TAKE AND KEEP TAKING FROM US UNTIL WE ARE LEFT DRY. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN SURVIVE WITH A 3 SQUARE MEAL IN TODAY'S NIGERIA? Quest7777: Nairaland has been compromised. LIKES are now being manipulated or are for sale. When you see some robotic or foolish comments having many LIKES.
To the topic, Tinubu is just playing politics with lives of Nigerians. We already have Ministry of Agriculture FGS. Maybe he should equally create Ministry of Spare Parts Development. |
Politics › Re: LASG To Translate Lagos State Laws Into Yoruba Using AI by neoG(f): 8:43am On Jul 10, 2024 |
My problem now is that how is this news and achievement? Till now we choose to celebrate mediocrity as long as it can be used to oppress a different tribe and the leaders enjoy while the average tribalist keeps suffering and smiling.
Whether this development is in Lagos or south east, south south or northern state, I don't care. What I know is that this should not be listed as a whole state achievement at all.
We should begin to hold our leaders accountable to carry out meaningful and pro-masses initiatives. How does this help to alleviate the present condition of an average Lagos state indigene (not even non-indigene) who presently can not provide basic needs for his children?
Tribalism has reduced and eaten deep into so many people's brain here that they dump the bigger and more realistic picture but to pursue tribalism driven objectives just to ensure the other tribe suffers but in the real sense they are all suffering the same predicament together. Is that not stupidity? |

I am really worried. The consequences of freedom and aje butter era will backfire so hard. Seriously I am worried. So many new generation parents have failed and are still failing. Eriokanmi: Bully here bully there , yen, yen, yen.
Our society is so rotten now. In my time a senior would ask me to go and pick my cutlass, he would take me to an open field and measure up to 100m portion for me to cut every morning before assembly. They would flog us with cane. You dare not report them
Nowadays, we keep sparing the rod and spoiling the child. The so-called bullying nowadays were a commonplace in those days. They only made us become a much stronger generation. In many schools,.you dare not beat a student nowadays. Nonsense! In remember the first time I toasted a girl as an SS2 student...heeey, my senior caught us, punished me like kilodee. He said, so you want to end your career at sec schl abi? You want to end up in a village with her after integrating her? I can't forget that day. The fear made me to not have time for girls till I gained admission, graduated and went for my nysc before I knew what's called gf. The punishment really shaped me up.
In 2016 @ Day waterman college where each student pays up to 5.3m naira per session, a student approached his teacher openly and wooed her, even promising to give her triple what the shool was paying her if she could allow him sleep with her. What bullying could be worse than that from a student to his teacher ? Yet, they couldn't do anything about it cos once the student reports to his parents that they're punishing him, they'd withdraw him and the school wouldn't want to lose money so they just ignored that.
Who born that student in our time? Na to flog am openly for assembly ground and call his parents to take him away. That would be his end in that school and it's environs. Today, the reverse is the case. I imagine what the next generation would look like. |

If you have free time for about 3 to 6 months go towards Lagos Island and search for all those big salons that is highly classy and expensive and see if they can employ you as an apprentice/errand guy so that you can use the opportunity to gain every experience you need for your own salon biz. I know your funds is not upto the millions they used to set up such kind of saloons but there is a reason why I would prefer you go there. This is because these types of saloons have alot going on like hair, nail, makeup, barbing, spa and beauty related products shop. So they have everything planned out and put in place for the business operations, process and management. You will see with your own eyes, experience and understand how to handle the business, customers and deal with hair stylists plus other staff. Because you see stylist, barbers, nail technician etc go use your eyes see shege and even run their own personal business from your own business. If you know that the first 1 year plus, you are not going to be physically present 24/7 for this business, you may have to reconsider changing your mind. Would I advise you to go into this business now? Ehmmm... Not really. Why? Because the present Tinubu regime is not favorable and so women are looking for alternatives to save more on beauty related stuff. Women are now tilting towards DIY hair stuff with the help of YouTube. While most Men find it difficult to change their barbers once they are comfortable with the person. That's why you see a guy saying this has been with his barber for ten years. For me, I would prefer real estate, stock etc investment this period than starting up a business in Nigeria. Note that this is my opinion and it is not for you to act on them. Please take time and do your own research. Slimslimqq: hmmm.. thank you very much, I guess it's a business I have always fell in love with and I always promised to open one when I have the fundz.
