Kobojunkie, please do not reply to remoranger's last post. bust this thing. or read this https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-275886.0.html grin (ok i'm sorry) but let's end this thing.

like samson said "I had fun arguing here."
WebmastersRe: Re-branding Nigeria Website by Neptune(m): 11:39am On May 24, 2009
@ ddonobi
nice one!!! putting this thread apart, that's a brilliant site/portal (as u may). very well done. na that one dem dey call EOD (end of discussion). like dual core said "Is the site informative? Yes!
Is it live? Yes!

k, end of story. No amount of noise here will even change one html tag on that site. "

we all understand that. but this is a webmasters forum and it's only right we talk, discuss or argue about things like this (especially when we are not even paid to do so). that's what we are suppose to do (i think). and though some people always take these things personal (which is'nt professional) we'll, that's their business.
WebmastersRe: Re-branding Nigeria Website by Neptune(m): 4:24pm On May 23, 2009
hmm, i wonder why most of their sites dont look like that. anyways, each visitor to a site expects or comes with his own different view. if my company for example took part in that, i'll be checking the site probably to see the remarks my M.D. made. that way i dont care about beauty. or if i wanted to go into branding and wanted to view whatever they had to say. if i was a web designer or a graphics person or even an IT person, i might need information on the site but the look also would matter to me. it has to. it's like reflex.out the site up in the computer area, nobody would care. i use nairaland all the time but you'll also hear me say "men that nairaland no fine at all oh!" why you guys are taking this personal i still dont understand. show NIIT students the site and they'll laugh about it. even though only a very few of them can do better. no matter wahtever lenght you take this to or whatever comments u make in support, the fact would always remain that nigeriarebrands.com was'nt well designed. if you learnt web design, web development or whatever you want to call it, you'll know that. for those of you who stumbled on it, i totally understand if you like it.
WebmastersRe: Re-branding Nigeria Website by Neptune(m): 3:24pm On May 23, 2009
you look for it. or send me an email requesting for my portfolio. i'll send them to you. i'm past bragging about my works man. those who know me know what i'm capable of.

infact, just google me !!!! grin LOL grin LM*AO !!!
WebmastersRe: Re-branding Nigeria Website by Neptune(m): 1:35pm On May 23, 2009
lol !!!. i always try to make people understand something. i don't give a damn if nairaland is one of the ugliest forums i've ever been in. the fact is, it works. simple.
what functionality is on that nigeriarebrands.com? contact us form? u've got to be kidding me. why should'nt that site be more attractive. what did the developer spend his time doing? building contact forms and drwing tables? think about this thing for a while now haba!!! when i sat down and tought about it, i came to the conclusion [maybe it was done by an in house guy and they had to rush the thing]. that i understand. but if that site was contracted out, i totally totally refuse to accept that it's even close to being ok. if the Ministry of Information and Communications contracted that site out and is ok with it, lol, what do they think of u yes u. not to talk of foreigners who check it out. bone the whole small talk abeg.
WebmastersRe: Re-branding Nigeria Website by Neptune(m): 10:38pm On May 22, 2009
sam milla, i really did'nt mean to attack you man. just like i did'nt say u designed the site. all the same there was no harm meant by any of my comments.

@ ddonobi
i'm really feelin that cotekit site man. for real. good job (if u designed it) nice one.

@Kobojunkie
i dey feel u small small jare. if to say dem even carry their money buy the templates, i for say dem try. na thief most of them dey thief am!
WebmastersRe: Re-branding Nigeria Website by Neptune(m): 7:52pm On May 22, 2009
for a site that reads "nigeria re-branding", that site does'nt cut it AT ALL. and am really suprised at SAM MILLA'S comments (except you designed the site). what's there to credit. a site comming from a whole "Ministry of Information and Communications, Nigeria" if na play stop am abeg. the site is crap and deserves no credits. if people like that were always told "hey good work" all the time, i wonder if we'll ever move foward. this is a forum for crying out loud and people cant say whatever they like. (except talking about other people's mother's which i find very annoying). if u like the site fine. lets know u like it. nobody's going to crusify u for that.

i've tried to explain the logo using the lines with the small letter R and D stuff. its a small letter R and D joint together. i'll have to say this is my last input to this. hope you get a cool logo for your organinzation. nice one kemji, on the book i mean. where's everybody by the way? more inputs please. lol. chao!

here's somthing i came up with.

Art, Graphics & VideoRe: Do You Think You Have What It Takes? by Neptune(m): 12:20pm On May 12, 2009
nice flagship. the first one i mean. nice.
WebmastersRe: Just Design This. What Do You Think? by Neptune(m): 7:28pm On May 07, 2009
its cool, but the banner it's striking enough for me. it looks like one of the other pages on the site not the home page. asides that, its cool. colour combination is also cool.
WebmastersRe: Your Honest Opinion Needed by Neptune(m): 5:55pm On May 05, 2009
the red theme goes with the name webfire right? took a few minutes to understand that. its ok for me. i use a very wide screen so i still see alot of grey. but i tried it on a lower resolution 1024x768 and the red was all over the screen. i'll have to say i like it though. i found a glitch too. the round corner on the top and bottom do not extend to the far right on my screen. it was ok on the lower resolution though. check the picture attached for more info on what im talking about. good work all the same.

[modified]

one more thing, i would have expected the name of the forum to be in the place where u have "brkdmrcn v3". the name of the forum is webfire right? but i dont see it anywhere. its kinda confusing.

[modified again]

so, i took the time to browse through. and i figured u might need more boards and at the same time make the boards on the home page as small as possible. for example online marking & off line marketing should be under the same board (i think). a business forum should have a jobs board e.t.c

WebmastersRe: Assess This Site. (dont Mince Your Words. Ouch) by Neptune(m): 3:49pm On May 05, 2009
funny enough is site is ok but it looks unfinished. the aim of the site is very clear. the name is naija free talk for clearness sake! and when u get to the site you see forum, lates discussions, topic etc. that should tell u ur in a forum. im one of those people who likes small fonts so im ok with the font.

if the site where mine, here are some thing i would have done different. (please note im a designer not a developer, hence my way of thinking)

1. my banner where i have my logo would be bolder. it would capture ur attention whe u get to the site (which also goes for the logo).

2. my green would be darker for visiblity purposes

3. i would change main theme to something like main topics or hot topics or something else (for people to quickly understand what's going on).

4. main theme (which is now main topic or hot topics or something else) would have a bolder font and alligned left (because the topics under it are also alligned left. makes it look organized) same thing goes for topic - add new >>.

5. the main topics highlighted in green under main theme would have a bold font (also to get attention and so that the categories are clear)

6. i'll draw more attention to the login/register area.

7. overall (cos im tired for now) i'll work more on the graphics and layout. (you know, have little beautiful icons here and there would do more than u can ever imagine). green is kinda dull but the secreat to bringing it out is having other colourful things around it to draw attention away from it. icons for one, adverts (thid google adsense stuff). if u dont have other adverts, advertise the forum itself on the home page. nothing too big and scarry just captivating. ok i'm officially tired. to this helps a bit.

thanks. yeah, the full name is "re-design creative". for branding purposes shorten to "red creative"

WebmastersRe: I Am About To Be Duped. Webmasters Help! by Neptune(m): 8:35pm On Apr 01, 2009
lagerwhenindoubt , i totally agree with you. i wold'nt advice you to "destroy" the guys website for a million reasons which i cant even start mentioning. my advice to you is you either go and talk things through or just forget it and add the guys work to your portfolio. yes. put it on your website that you did it. add a link sef. and please learn to write up something. it does'nt have to be 2pages long. it could be 5lines. give them to sign. laugh about it when presenting it to them sef. just make sure they sign it. so after that if you decide to "destroy" their site, you would be justified.
WebmastersRe: Steve Jobs Steps Down From Ceo Of Apple by Neptune(op): 7:28pm On Mar 30, 2009
for real?! i thought he stepped down a few days ago lol. and that he only announced that he would be stepping down soon but was still active untill a few days ago when he actually stepped down. anyways sorry for the old gist.lol.
WebmastersSteve Jobs Steps Down From Ceo Of Apple by Neptune(op): 10:00pm On Mar 29, 2009
Steve Jobs is stepping down until late June. that stunned the tech community today, and it's sure to send shivers down the spines of already wary investors.Just a little over a week ago, Jobs tried to tamp down the dire rumors about his health, revealing that he is undergoing treatment for a "hormone imbalance" but is "not on my deathbed."

Wednesday, however, he wrote in an e-mail to employees that "during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought." Apple COO Tim Cook will take the reins during Jobs' absence.

In his e-mail, Jobs called the speculation on his health "a distraction," and spun his decision to step down as a way to "allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products." He added that he will "remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out."

Still, industry observers—not to mention Apple investors—are fearing the worst, and indeed, TheStreet.com reports that trading in Apple shares was halted late in the day to prevent a panic sell-off.

Of course, I don't have any inside information on Jobs' health, and I've tried as much as I can to refrain from idle speculation about his condition.

That said, today's news is certainly alarming, and one can't help but wish Jobs the best on a human level, while wondering about the future of Apple—who will ultimately lead it in a post-Jobs era, and whether it'll maintain its consistently high level of production and creativity.

Sure, there are plenty of big brains at Apple, but Jobs—while not known as Mr. Sensitivity in Cupertino—is a giant, a legendary out-of-the-box thinker with amazing taste (as Bill Gates wryly noted back in summer 2007), laser-like focus, and an iron will. It's hard to imagine Apple without him.
In any case, let's hope for the best.

WebmastersRe: Debate: Web Developer Company Site Vs Client Sites by Neptune(m): 10:48pm On Mar 23, 2009
yawa-ti-de, was that client black or white? smiley cos i totally understand if he/she is white. trust me most nigerians aare not like that. a similar thing happened to me (it does almst all the time) i was like sir those colours dont really match together. then he pause and tilted his head a little, i though he was gonna go 'yeeeeah i think so to, so what do u recommend', he was like" haba, how can u say that. look at it well now" next thing he called an employee and was like "ngbo this colours dont match?" the fool was like it does sir. and i told myself yeah yeah what would u have said. and other scenerios like that.
WebmastersRe: Debate: Web Developer Company Site Vs Client Sites by Neptune(m): 4:57pm On Mar 23, 2009
oga castrolng, i agree and disagree with your point. (well said though). the honest truth is, there are different reasons for different web designers.

reason1
for example, some clients (the dull ones) just love ugly looking sites, probably because that's the kinda sites they see everywhere. infact if u made the site beautiful at first, they will tell you to change it (remove this add that)

reason2
good web designers tend to do that alot. and the reason is simply communication. its easy for me (for example) to know what i want a translate into a good design exactly the way i want it. cause its mine. almost everybody knows how to cook indomine but i bet if u cooked for 3different people 1 would'nt like it. (they'll go" i dont like water in mine" and so forth) and only very few nigerian clients know exactly what they want, so its hard giving them what they want even if u made the best designs possible for them.

reason 3

oga castrolng's reason smiley

sorry oh, did'nt mean to sound harsh. i guess i should include a flash sniffer ASAP. thanks.
WebmastersRe: I Redesigned My Site! Wacha Think? by Neptune(op): 6:05pm On Mar 17, 2009
i really dont know how to answer that, if that's what he means. the best i can say to that comment is, it's 2009. i mean, omnipotens. think about it. if there are people that are not learned enough as to install their flash players themselves (which comes with every browser nowadays), they dont really need my services. it sounds harsh but it's very true. i mean have you really thought about that? that comment really amazes me men, except he means something else. i have this wierd smile on my face right now.
WebmastersRe: I Redesigned My Site! Wacha Think? by Neptune(op): 3:52pm On Mar 17, 2009
em, smartsoft, i dont really get ur comment. what sucks about the flash required? it's just there to tell you if you dont have flash player installed on ur browser, u cant view the site. and if it were a company that ppl need to get information from, there's a phone number right above the flash required text.

just so i get you right, what exactly are you complaining about?
WebmastersRe: I Redesigned My Site! Wacha Think? by Neptune(op): 9:05pm On Mar 16, 2009
wow, does that mean u've never seen a flash site? oh, i have an idea, how about i paste the picture of each page here so you can comment on it. huh! cool right ? !. (just kiddin smiley) i've tried my possible best to reduce he size of the flash files. sorry u can't view it. wait a min, u can try again by midnight ! (sorry, just kiddin again smiley)
