Nice one from the speed-master. Hope the prediction come to pass! I like him far more than Ahmed Musa, I think he is better winger as his style is more direct than Musa. If Musa plays today, I pray his final touch which is always appalling won't let him down. |
It is long overdue for a Nigerian to win it. It is our time. Mikel's name readily comes to mind. |

If I plate my hair and look like Rastafarian, is it our culture? Many will term you irresponsible for plating your hair but in some countries, nothing is wrong with it. If you are in Rome, you behave like the Romans. If your culture/tradition permits it and your family sees nothing wrong in it, fine and if otherwise, you desist from it. |

Sard: Who would miss the world cup? Cristiano Ronaldo or Zlatan Ibrahimovic? I just wish CR7 will be in Brazil next year after taking home 2013 balon d'hor. It will be injustice to deny Ribery, although there were players in the past who merited it but were denied but at the same time Ronaldo didn't win anything in the year ending. |

ogugua88: You haven't met all women. You can't judge them all because of one or two instances. It's all perception.Well said. ogugua88: 1. There's a thin line between confidence and arrogance.Again well said but most women who are very rich tend to be arrogant. I am not generalizing, it is obvious and some factual women on this forum can attest that. ogugua88: 2. There's nothing wrong with a woman spending on a man.Well said but at the same time, it is not always good to receive without reciprocating. It becomes boring and makes the man feel lesser than a man when the woman does virtually everything. It is normal for the woman to get frustrated and everything can change almost immediately. ogugua88: 3. It's not a general thing for women to look down on others. Not all of them.Yes, that is true and it is not a general thing for men to look down on others too ogugua88: 4. It's not good to generalize.Inasmuch as it is not good to generalize things but there are issues that are synonymous with rich women. You can't take arrogance away from them. |

nerodenero: “There were some who said and did things that made me say ‘Oh, even you too’, but you know it is part of life that when things are down you lose your friends. Right now, I am not afraid of anything. I am stronger and can take whatever life throws at me.”Thank God you survived the setback. Play, hope you remembered Tunde Victor, you were not there when it all happened and I am bold to say "oh, even you too" but that is in the past now. Thank God we know despite he is no more, our joy rest in the fact that he is with the Lord. I have listened to some of your songs and happy to see you back and better. Still a big fan. |
nerodenero: Ethiopia coach Sewnet Bishaw has vowed his men will give whatever it takes to overturn a first-leg defeat when they take on Nigeria in their World Cup play-off on Saturday.Ethiopia hope to continue their surprising World Cup journey when they face Nigeria in the return leg, despite a 2-1 loss at home in mid-October.Bishaw said: “This is the biggest match of my life. I want to win it. I’ll fight to the maximum.“There’s no problem in my squad. All of my players are fit and the mood in the camp is very high. Everybody is waiting for the kick-off whistle.”, the coach told BBC. Nigeria won the first leg in Addis Ababa courtesy of a brace from Emanuel Emenike and the Super Eagles are clear favourites to book a place at next year’s tournament in Brazil, which would be their fifth appearance at a finals. However, Bishaw is confident his side can come back. “I’m 100% confident of overturning the result. I’ll only play for a win. Football involves a defeat and a win. We’re defeated in the first leg doesn’t mean we’ll be defeated in the second leg,” he said. “I’ve not finished the match. I’ve 90 minutes left to play. I’ll fight for a 2-0 win or for a 2-1 to take it in to extra-time. So, I want to remind them that it’s not over yet.” Bishaw revealed he will leave it until the last moment possible to select his side in the quest to take the east Africans to their first finals. The big boost for Bishaw is the return of his joint top scorer, Getaneh Kebede. The striker missed the first leg of the play-offs because of an ankle injury. “The return of Getaneh is really great news. I’ve seen him in training. He’s fit and will definitely have a role in the battle” Bishaw said.Bishaw is at it again!!! The last time he ran his mouth like diarrhoea, he got the greatest shocker of his life. His boys rammed into Eagles and they were edged out owing to lack of experience. The same set of boys are here again in Calabar and another shocker awaits the aging Bishaw. Go Eagles!!! Do what you know how to do best!!! Over 160million Nigerians are ready to fly with you on Saturday. |

chess guru: Abeg wat time is the match?4pm tomorrow |
I think it would be better for Enyeama to man the post on Sunday due to his fine form lately. He has gone several games without conceding a goal. Again, I think Keshi should parade the same players that executed the victory in Addis Ababa, the presence of these guys will send jitters down the spine of Ethiopians. I can't wait to celebrate our victory. |
Nigeria vs Ethiopia: Mikel keeps mute Chelsea midfielder and Super Eagles talisman, John Mikel Obi, has declared that he has refused to make too many comments ahead of the game against Ethiopia on Saturday because of the importance of the match and the need for maximum concentration by all and sundry. Mikel who spoke on Thursday also declared that he will be open to talk and comments at the end of the 90minutes encounter at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, CrossRiverState. “We have a very important game on our hands and it won’t be nice to talk too much, but after the game we can talk and have fun but for now it’s total concentration for business and the coaching crew and my teammates agree with my position. Mikel1 Head Coach Stephen Keshi also towed the path of Mikel as he inisted that there was need for total concentration of the team ahead of the encounter against the Ethiopians even as he weighed his options in Thursday’s closed door training between the probables and the possibles. At the end of the training session it was difficult to say whether Vincent Enyeama or Austin Ejide will start in goal, there was also confusion over who will be the preferred central defenders between Azubuike Egwuekwe, Godfrey Oboabona, Kenneth Omeruo and James Okwuosa. Bright Dike was running the whole length of the pitch with power and precision but he too is not assured of a starters’ shirt not with Nnamdi Oduamadi, Victor Moses, Brown Ideye, Ahmed Musa, Sunday Mba and Emmanuel Emenike all in fine form at the session. As it stands, only Keshi and his technical crew have a sneak idea of the team that will start on Saturday because it seems every player, including Newcastle star Shola Ameobi, has a stake in the team that will either start play on the day. A case of a deluge of stars for the Super Eagles. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/11/nigeria-vs-ethiopia-mikel-keeps-mute/#sthash.yqntDbB4.dpuf

Bouncing back after a seven-year break, Paul Play Dairo recalls the medical challenge that affected his career, writes JAYNE AUGOYE After a seven-year hiatus, ace music producer and artiste, Paul Play Dairo, is working towards staging a big come back. Having dropped a total of five singles since March, he says the response has been massive. In spite of the seeming lull in album sales, the RnB star who says he is up-to- beat with current trends in the music scene, still intends to drop a ‘luxury’ album. “The idea is basically to fill in the gap since my last album and also sample people’s opinion. Thankfully, the online comments have been encouraging. So far, I have recorded 20 songs and some of them have already been released as singles. I am currently tidying my gospel and each track has an element of Nigerian flavor and pop. “The bulk of the money is no longer coming from album sales because these songs are already online and people are downloading them. Music business is now streamlined to performance and endorsement. I am still going ahead with the limited edition album which will be expensive because that way I will be able to control and monitor the sales and distribution,” he discloses. When Paul Play launched his way into the Nigerian music scene in 1999, riding on the goodwill and success of his late father, IK Dairo, he enjoyed solid patronage. Within a short period, he also earned an independent voice of his own, springing hit singles that include Mosorire, Happy Day and Yes O! In 2009, however, his career was threatened when he fell ill in South Africa, while shooting some music videos for his last album and had to be rushed to a hospital. In his absence, the media was awash with speculations over the nature of the illness. It was rumoured that he had cancer, kidney failure to a spiritual attack. Four years after, he has clearly moved on, choosing not to dwell on the nature of the ailment. According to him, the near-death-experience has taught him some lessons. He talks about a few of them in a low tone saying, “It was taught to be scared of God, and not to depend on man because God is ultimate. You don’t have to trust man, but psyche yourself that people are close to you for one reason or quality or the other. I lost many trusted friends during my ailment and gained a few in the process. “There were some who said and did things that made me say ‘Oh, even you too’, but you know it is part of life that when things are down you lose your friends. Right now, I am not afraid of anything. I am stronger and can take whatever life throws at me.” The year 2014 is ‘Paul Play Dairo’s year’, if indications emerging from the soft spoken artiste are anything to go by. For one, he intends to release a Box Set- two albums of highlife and gospel music. The third will be RnB. He says, “It will be a limited edition because it is going to be expensive.I wanted an album that people will like. That’s the reason for the long silence. My management is considering working with a number of new school acts like Inyanya and Wizkid. I am open to work with any artiste, so I don’t end up being an island in the industry. I don’t want to streamline myself only to a group or set of people. I was taking my time to do things right and face other things. I have been able to keep up with the industry online and the commendation I have been receiving ever since is an indication that people have missed me and want me back on the scene.” The one-time Globacom Ambassador adds that so much has changed since his temporary exit from the scene. He says, “The music industry has become saturated. Today, everyone wants to sing so there is limited space to get the desired publicity. But artistes who have pedigree will always fit in, no matter what friends,” he explains. While many artistes of his time, have found it rather difficult to fit into the scene after being away for a long time, Paul Play is optimistic that his fans will embrace his return and warm up to him. He hinges his belief on the fact that Nigerians now embrace indigenous music when compared to the past. “If you say it is difficult to come back and then give up things will pass you buy. If the likes of Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder have stood the test of time, why label yourself as old school? With a good pedigree, people will respect you and with God you can still make a comeback. I don’t intend to stay in music for a long time,’’ he notes. www.punchng.com

Instead of these men who claimed they were called by God to preach the gospel and draw many to God, they are enmeshed in corruption-ridden new and old Party Deceiving People (PDP). If the foundation is faulty, what can the righteous do. They have really failed us. |
CAN suspends clerics pushing to resolve PDP crisis he crisis within the Christian Association of Nigeria owing to the attempt by some clerics from the Niger Delta area to reconcile the aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party with the Presidency, took a new dimension on Thursday, following the suspension of some of those that initiated the peace deal. Their suspension was announced by CAN’s South-South Chairman, Archbishop God-Dowell Avwomakpa, from the association. Reacting to the suspension, the leader of the peace initiators, Prophet Jones Erue, threatened legal action against Avwomakpa and CAN, saying the former had no capacity to suspend them. The peace initiative, under the platform of Global Peace Relief Initiative, had drawn the wrath of CAN leadership. Erue, in a statement, disowned Avwomapka, saying he lacked the capacity to suspend the truce brokers. He said, “Avwomakpa has no capacity to suspend us; he is not our member. We only invited him to join us when our delegation visited Governor Rotimi Amaechi. “We give him 48 hours to retract the announcement of our suspension and all the bad things he said about us or else we will institute legal action against him and CAN.” Erue said the group now knew the enemies of the country and would “not allow them to sleep.” The clerics earlier took on CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, over reported comments in which the CAN boss allegedly disparaged them for attempting to reconcile the G-7 Governors with the Presidency. Erue had described Oritsejafor’s statement to the effect that CAN was apolitical as laughable, accusing the CAN President of getting involved in politics of calumny and name dropping. Sallah gift sends them to their untimely death!!! Can you imagine!!!Poverty is a disease that needs to be cured among our people. |
Members of the Ilorin Emirate Elders of Thought have called for the prosecution of the Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology, Dr. Bukola Saraki, over the recent stampede in his family house at Ilofa, Ilorin, Kwara State. Many people died while scores were also injured during the stampede when Sallah gifts were being distributed. The group, in a letter by its counsel, Mr. Muritala Sambo of Murtala Sambo and Co. to the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, which was made available to journalists in Ilorin on Thursday, demanded an immediate commencement of criminal trial of Saraki. It said such loss of human lives had been recorded in the past during events organised by Saraki. Sambo said, “We have the instructions of our clients to demand the immediate commencement of criminal trial of Sen. Bukola Saraki over the avoidable gruesome murder of over 50 of our client’s kinsmen on Wednesday October 17, 2013 at the private residence of the Senator along Ilofa Road in Ilorin. “Our clients are alarmed, as thousands other public spirited Nigerians, by the cruelty and (alleged) raw insensitivity of Sen. Saraki and his cronies in the Peoples Democratic party to the victims of the avoidable stampede that occurred at the ‘Charity House’ along Ilofa Road in Ilorin. “They are therefore, by virtue of their preeminence in the community, interested in the prosecution of such a criminal suspect(s) for murder, conspiracy to murder, manslaughter and grievous bodily injury(as the case may be) with the hope that such a decisive action will deter a recurrence of such in the future.
