I can only talk for myself: I'm NOT. Don't know about other dudes. .NET |
eunisam: mr.wiseman, wetin concern dullard concern u? Park well jor.e no concern me jare.Your quickness to talk when you have nothing meaningful to say could be your Achilles Heel. Makeitsoon was right in referring to some people (names witheld) as dullards, because if you read that piece now, you will realize your folly, because nobody ever mentioned CAMEROON. .NET |
WackyJ1: Net you didn't mention anything about feelings and the manner of breakupShe broke up with me. She said I wasn't ready for Marriage at that time (and quite frankly, I wasn't). She truly loved me and so did I, but I had to understand with her. Age was ticking very fast and it would have been cruel to hold her down when I know I wasn't ready (financially and emotionally). At my age (early 30s), feelings rarely matter now o. They did when I was in my 20s - not now anymore. What matter to me now are duty and commitment. Any lady who provides these is good enough. Forget feelings. .NET |
Honestly, I don't understand why people make break-ups a big deal. Last week, I just spoke with my immediate past Ex. She called to find out how I was doing and stuff and we had a really good time on the phone. We even still share jokes and laugh anytime we see. She has a new fantastic guy now and I am happy (sincerely) for her. Another one who now lives in SA usually chides (jokingly) me saying: "Jay, when are you going to marry nau? I wan come chop rice for ya head." Guys, this Ex thing is not a big deal biko. I am friends with ALL of my exes. You can never tell which one of them could be in a position to be of assistance tomorrow. |

I thought I was the only one suffering from this. As I write this piece, I have not seen a flash of electricity for the past 3 weeks in my Business place. When I moved into my new office, there was an outstanding debt of over 300K incurred by the last occupant. I complained to PHCN abi NEPA (I no know the one wey dem be again) about the outstanding bill, but was asked to pay it regardless. I opposed it and it led to disruption of my electricity for over 2 months. Caretaker later sorted them out sha. Fast forward to today: The Light situation has plummeted and is adversely affecting my business. What pisses me off is the way these guys come to disconnect us, even when we've not had light for weeks. We are expecting them to come for disconnection anytime soon. I run an ICT business (and you know, this business requires steady Power supply). At first, I was using dipping my hands into my reserves, but now I got no more reserves and everything seems to be crumbling apart. Last night, I almost felt like crying. Imagine spending 5k -6K daily on Fuel. How does that sound? These bastards don't want to understand what someone is going through. For the first time since I started this business, I have to owe my staff (last month of June). Why? The little money I make from the business is used to fuel the Generator. I just decided to get an inverter and save my self the stress of PHCN. .NET |
OK. Let's see how this goes. .NET |
ok. got a few clues here. thanks amina .NET |

OP, you sound like a decent man. However, the comments that other people have made here are very correct. I know it's difficult to let go in situations like this. I have worn your shoes three times in my life, and honestly, the best thing you should do is to move on. You can still be friends with her tho'. Who knows - she might be of help to you in the future. .NET |
OdionOdion: Do you realise that the Rivers State generate more IGR and collect almost the same allocation as Akwa Ibom state?. In all sincerity without sentiments or prejudices, can you honestly say Gov Ameachi match Gov Akpabio for the past six years plus? Before hurriedly answer, try and pay a visit to akwa Ibom state then you will weep for Gov Ameachi and his supportersI have lived in Rivers State for about 15 years. I know how bad the Roads used to be. I appreciate what Amaechi has done in Road construction, but when I went to Akwa-Ibom State last month for a Christian convention and saw the kind of Roads that Akpabio has constructed there - and is still constructing, my brother, my mouth just close. Also, dem tell me say Rivers State gets much more money (both from IGR and FG) than Akwa-Ibom State - (don't know how true that is anyway). This alone has made me rate Akpabio over Amaechi. Geez, that guy (Akpabio) is just too much. .NET |

When we attended the Training in Benin City, Edo State, one of the instructors gave us a hint. He said your plan should tell of a Business that: a) Is Profitable or has visible prospects of Profit. b) Is not an offensive, Banned or Bad Business e.g. Liquor, anything that has to do with Arms & Ammunition, etc c) Has the capacity to employ many people. (I told y'all that I had just 2 school leavers before the YouWIN stufff, but now, I have 10 people working in various capacities - thanks to YouWIN. Also, you have to show commitment to the business. The words you choose in explaining the Business plan will tell them whether you are committed to the thing or not. Note that the whole 10M will NOT be given to you at once o. If you win, they will pay you the money in tranches viz: a) First Tranche - 10% b) Second Tranche - 40% c) Third Tranche - 25% d) Fourth Tranche - 25% I know say if dem pay the whole 10M at once, some peeps fit zaap with the cash, or even spend am carelessly. Furthermore, when you win, somebody from SMEDAN will be assigned to monitor your Business and take reports back to YouWIN Secretariat. .NET |
nothing wey person no go hear for dis obodo naija. Last 4 months, one professor talk say make I no brush my mouth for morning. Now, dis one talk say make I no peel off the back of my yam before i chop am. too much book is making some peeps go senile. .NET |
Uyi Iredia: Do you think I have a shot ? I am currently an undergraduate and so without a postsecondary qualification. I could try my luck.In our set, I know over 100 guys that have not even gained admission into Tertiary Institution, but they qualified and were awarded the grant. Madam, if you have a good idea, you will be awarded. Also, you don't have to know anybody (as in, Ima mmadu) .NET |
I won in the maiden edition of YouWIN. My Business plan was on Information and Communications Technology. I do business in Port Harcourt. In our own time, there were 2 stages, the first stage was where they asked us general questions about the kind of business you are doing/want to do. I told them that it was a Sole Proprietorship business that I had been running for about 3 years before that time. I explained that the business was growing but seriously needed funding (as the banks were not helping at all). I told them that I was deeply committed to doing this business. I explained the 4 branches where I expected to reap 'better' money if they helped me with more funding viz: Internet Service Provision IT Training Cloud Computing Web/Application Development I made them realize that I was already making profits in the business as at then, but was not satisfied with the level of profit, therefore I needed more money to delve into the areas I listed above. On the management of my business, I told them that I was the most active person running the business and employed just 2 other people (Actually, this was true). As at that time, I had 2 young people (boy and girl) doing Internship with me. They had just left Secondary School. I did not have to pay them much, but they were happy. Since my business was based on providing services, I did not offer any off-the-shelf products. One question they asked was the things that mitigate my business and I told them that Funding was part of the problem. Another problem is Steady Power Supply in Naija. If you are into ICT, you should know how Power affects our business. There were some other questions they asked us sha, but I cannot remember them all. 2 weeks after submitting, they told me that I had passed the 1st stage and was qualified to go to Benin, Edo State for a training. At the training, I was allowed to sell my idea to a gathering of over 600 people. I think they liked my business idea. Mehn, they taught us a lot of things o. After the training, we were asked to then submit a holistic plan for the Business (Cash-Flow Projection, Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Demographic Analysis, etc). Later today, I might talk about the second stage, where you have to submit things like Cash-Flow Projection, Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Demographic Analysis, etc. They offered me 10M sha. .NET |
