Haba! You no dey pity pipo? E too much abeg. Na 2:1 be correct score. |
Atiku came 2nd and is claiming victory in the last elections. Obi came 3rd and he is also claiming to have won the same elections. Then we have the inec declared president-elect. So I think they should gather all the relevant proofs and present their cases to the election petition tribunal. Having some citizens here and there claiming victory for their preferred candidates can not prove anything unless they can support their claims with facts and figures. Three people can not win the same elections at the same time, only one can and that one has to prove it. It's not a wishful something. |

The death of this pikin in the circumstances it happened is so painful considering the fact that just days back the father was teaching him to swim. Lesson for parents, children will always be children and as such they need serious safeguarding be it closely monitoring them and/or avoiding any behaviour that they will be tempted to try alone at home. Remember WWW, Do not try at home. May the soul of the little angel rest in the Bossom of the Lord. |
Quite pathetic. When Nigeria is about making history of the best elections since 1993, in terms of transparency and issue-based campaign, boom some narrow minded elements come up with ethnic gingoism to distract the electorate. I believe that Nigerians won't fall for this bullshit. May God grant the Nigerian people the wisdom to choose a man with proven capacity and desire to lead the country on the path to peace and development. |
jimetagambo:I hope you watched the BBC's recent documentary on banditry. In as much as I believe that any foreigner living in Nigeria must be registered and documented, Nigerians should not shy away from the true identity of those behind boko haram and banditry. These are Nigerians and the government should live up to expectations in providing security for its citizens. The same mistake was made in the early stages of bokoharam by pointing accusing fingers to foreigners specially from Niger and Chad. Don't employ someone you can't trace to his home as security guard. But you know what many Nigerians feel even safer with these foreigners than their fellow Nigerians. E get why. Foreigners can have criminals in their mist but the problem of insecurity in Nigeria is homegrown. The earlier it seen from that perspective and tackle head on the better. Who can import criminality in Nigeria by the way. Let be realistic 98% of criminals in Nigeria are Nigerians. |
Apart from Lagos and Delta, do you see any other southern states up there? But our youths are the most active on social media talking politics everyday. Most of them are not registered voters; they don't have PVC. Dem plenty for this nairaland [/quote]That's the bitter truth. You can't make an impact by making noise on social media and ignoring the real deal which is getting registered, get your PVC and vote. That makes you a responsible citizen. They will be shouting our votes don't count while they have not even voted. Come on southern youths need to be more in elections. |
That's the French people for you. Their then president Chirac refused to join Bush and Blair in invading Iraq and now their companies are trying to see things differently, putting their employees and customers first instead of putting them in precarious situation. History will tell us whether they are doing the right just like Chirac did or whether they are doing the wrong thing. |
And yet Kiev is under siege! 40,000 plenty oooooo. If na true Russia for don withdraw. Losing 40,000 men in battles in less than a month is just too much. I hope they are not............ |
Imagine some are worried for Africa just as they were so alarmists when COVID erupted. Little did they know that nature has way to balance things. Africa is abondantly blessed with crude oil. The only curse is that we did not invest enough in refineries and those that were built were abandoned to decay. Then we turned to importing refined petroleum products. No be JuJu be that? I hope we learn so many things from this Russia Vs Ukraine war. Over dependence on the west and Asia needs to be checked as soon as possible. Importing tomato paste, rice, furniture, clothes, chocolate while the largest producers of cocoa are in Africa here. Banking with foreign banks and the rest of them. Honestly make we think em oooooo. |
If they mean well for the region they should demand accountability from 1999 till date. But will they? Activism is a big joke in Nigeria. Because your people are no more calling the shots, you want accountability. There's nothing wrong in asking those who manage the NDDC funds to be accountable, rather it is even commendable. But what is unacceptable is demanding accountability under someone you see as not your own. Every single penny accrued to the Niger Delta should be probed. |
Mr Javid also said the Russian army's bombing of hospitals "fills me with rage" and amounts to "war crimes". When US bombed Doctors without borders' hospital in Afghanistan and killed about 42 people including doctors and nurses, women and children, you were not filled with rage. It was labelled human and technical error and nobody was prosecuted. What Russia is doing is condemnable and must stop. Now that Ukraine is considering staying a neutral state at the ongoing talks, UK want to put more fuel on the by giving Ukraine the hope that they are going to engage Russia. It's clear that there are some countries that don't want this war to end. While others are prioritising dialogue, Britain and US have chosen the path of threats, pushing for escalation and trying by all means to get Ukraine continue fighting. Surely it unlikely to be for sympathy for Ukrainians but for experiment, to see how long Russia can cope with war under heavy sanctions. This war can be ended with dialogue but busy body Britain no want. They want to keep pushing. If not for NATO can they even dream of going to war with Russia? It's better to tow the path of peace than keep beating the drums of war. No one knows what will happen if ww3 start now. No matter what peace is better than war. Ukraine should go ahead and with their plan of staying neutral and end this war. Don't listen to this Britain. |
Why are people just after war and violence? Why not just live in peace? Nawao for human beings oooooo. Those who seek war will surely meet with death. This is an unnecessary provocation that the US must definitely respond to. If Israel killed your soldiers why not attack them in retaliation if you can. Why drag the US in this incident? Ok oooooo. We are watching you guys. When the fighting start don't expect sympathy from us oooooo. We have our own wahala to attend to. |
Nigerian politicians are not serious in tackling decamping after securing an elective position. There is a constitutional review going on and none of them in the national assembly is pushing for it to be captured in the constitution thus becoming a law in the land. If this goes through it will serve as a deterrent in future. But the right thing to do is to have an understanding with inec and make it a crime punishable by loss of seat. All political parties sign and the national assembly ratify. For the same offence, judges shouldn't be passing different judgements. It's appalling. |
Let us be realistic here. These guys are from a security company outsourced by chicken Republic. How on earth do you expect the organisation not to have concerns? If they were staff of chicken Republic, maybe one can hope that they are called and their duties clearly explained to them once more and what to do and not do while on duty. Most people condemning their sack, if they were, have not used the services of these security companies before. Some guards they send do steal and beg people who visit your office. So anyone sent to you should be monitored to be sure he is the type that you will like having at your office. Imagine that day was their first day. Security guards for that matter. Don't you know that if anything goes wrong security wise they will be the first people to account for it. If you do this abroad you will be sacked. It's not about Nigeria, it's about being focused on your primary assignment there which is security not entertainment. The company just reacted to counter reactions that are trying to put them in bad light in the eyes of the general public. You can't pay a company to provide you with security guards and instead they send you entertainers. It doesn't work that way. People should stop being carried away by social media sensational trolling. We are talking about business here. So a certain level of professionalism is expected. |
I think people should stop clout chasing at all cost. This is weird. Do they think that they are being creative? Well the government doesn't thinks so and I will say fuel isn't a commodity kept or carried around anyhow. People need to be careful to avoid unnecessary troubles |
The way Tinubu's support groups are going about rallying support for him is impressive. Other presidential hopefuls should monitor and strategize now to avoid being left behind when the campaign proper kicks off. These groups are crawling the whole north and south west, their main target. If Asiwaju has a strong manifesto he may just surprise some people who are looking at his age just like Buhari did. Democracy is about votes not rants. He who is able to mobilise and garner the highest votes becomes president. Other aspirants should start showing their readiness to challenge for the post of president by showing signs of resolve and momentum building. Not last minutes rush with character assassination strategies against opponents. All what was said in 2015 did not stop Buhari from winning. Majority of these voters are not even online. These are the people that actually go out and vote not those who will be gummed to their TV at home and social media channels on elections day. First to build nationwide momentum will have an advantage. Once people make up their minds early in a campaign, unless a major political blunder or blackmail, it is difficult to catch up with the candidate with early lead in the pools. |
To avoid unnecessary political tensions, I think this issue of power rotation across the six political zones should be enshrined in the constitution. They should take advantage of the ongoing constitutional reform to push for it. I wonder why the lawmakers are not pushing for it and yet they are the ones fueling the zoning argument in the country. If left for only political parties to deal with then the highest bidder will always carry the day. Are you not surprised that people like Abaribe are routing for Atiku? Only 3 zones have produced presidents since the return of democracy: south west, north west and south south. Remaining north central, south east and north east. As it is today I doubt if Nigerians are politically ripe to pursue an agenda based on competence. People are so keen in ethno religious considerations. This was created by the previous generations, unfortunately these sentiments refused to go away. Another alternative is simply to divide the country. Let every part go and manage themselves or if still keen on Nigeria, implement 70% resource control for states with more autonomy to run their affairs. |
Aufbauh:You may be right on one hand while on the other, I will say that the problem is rather with us the electorate. We put sentiments and ethno-religious considerations ahead of national interest. We are ready to bring heaven down or kill ourselves for religious issues and ethnic clashes. But such determination is not shown when it comes to demanding the basic democratic principles such as free and fair elections, rule of law and and strong institutions. Just go through people's comments on this forum and see for yourself. All these divisions started by politicians who can't sell themselves nationally and some bigots followed them. No sense of accountability at all. That's why you see a governor who spent 8 years with nothing to show for it, find his way to the senate. Democratic culture takes time to be absorbed. We are getting there. Gradually people are understanding the games and desperation of the political class. New challenges are coming up and as we deal with them we keep on becoming stronger. The countries of the west passed through this learning curve. They had their revolutions, their crises etc. How many Americans presidents were assassinated? Did that make them choose military rule at that time? No. They figured out how to deal with that challenge and now it is history. So for me a coup is a big NO. How many months to go for this man that will push for a coup and start again with decrees, face sanctions and get isolated. It's not worth it. Mobilise and educate the electorate and make a wise choice during elections. |
It is just so dissuade NATO from getting involved. He can't use nukes. He is only telling them that look, you invaded countries at will and Russia didn't interfere because you put forward the argument of national, international security and survival. Now Russia is taking action for the same reasons so don't interfere. If any country dares to use nuclear weapons then the destruction that will follow could only be imagined. Putin is just flexing muscles to show that Russia can't be intimidated. |
And where is the UN in all this. Unilateralism was taken too far by the west in the last decades. They ignored UN resolutions and do as they pleased and backed allies who don't conform to the UN decisions. E shock everyone to see Putin do same with the excuse of national security. The world super powers have succeeded in reducing the UN to a barking dog that can't bite. Is it even barking this time around? That was how they ignored the League of Nations until it landed them in WW2. They created the UN to correct the lapses of the previous world body. And today see it. At least some of us expected a UN extraordinary summit in the Russia Vs Ukraine war but not. The EU and the us with their NATO are sidelining the UN and taking measures here and there. Well we pray for peace. For stability in this world all the powerful countries Russia inclusive, should stop their bullying and surrender to UN resolutions. |
Rest in peace great sports lover. Your life well spent should Indeed be an inspiration to young Nigerians and Africans at large. No be by too many higher certificates but vision, passion and determination. Adieu. |
This headline! Someone doing teaching practice is still a student, he never grad and surely wasn't a staff of Orient group of schools. It should have been something like: A former student teacher weds a girl he met during his teaching practice year. Killer! A former teacher as if he was a full time teacher when he met the gal. |
Well the good thing is that nobody will use second Niger bridge as a campaign promise anymore. Maybe next will be Asaba or Onitsha port. They should do fast abeg. The holdup and time wasting people experience between Asaba and Onitsha is something else. Something of 10 to 15 minutes depending on your location in Asaba, will take hours sometimes. |
doctokwus:The bottom line is that teachers need to be very careful. There are many kids out there that have one ailment or the other. So even if it is a broomstick that you use to flog a child and something bad happens to that kid, fingers will be pointed at you. We are all familiar with the phrase"walking corpse". Just a little touch from someone and it is done, the person dies and you can't defend yourself as there is evidence that you touch that person. So in this our age teachers should avoid corporal punishment to avoid stories like these. If pikin no cooperate with you or do anything you think deserves punishment, refer to the school authority and if possible report to school counselor or even the parents. The way parents like to take matters with teachers these days is enough warning already. |
