In his address, His Highness discussed the future of Africa and the role graduates had to play.

Many of the values that have made the world a peaceful and happy place are under threat. And for those of you working on Africa, it is important to recognise the grave existential threat facing the continent.”

He noted the challenges the continent faced and reflected on the role of the African elite: “Jean-Paul Sartre noted that ‘in the colonies the truth stood naked but in the fatherland they preferred it clothed in robes’. Let us assume that as Africans and Muslims that we locked ourselves in a room with no American or Europeans looking in and spoke to ourselves the naked truth…Is Africa not projected to have 85% of all those living in extreme poverty in the world by 2050?…Have the African elite, who took over from the colonisers and settlers, not done more damage to the poor in their countries through corruption and bad policies than the imperialists?”

Education / I Didn’t Allow My Relationship To Distract Me – Agbelusi, Economics First-class by Newsbreakers: 4:58pm On Jul 22, 2019
They are evergreen in my memory. My dad is a teacher and so in my primary and secondary schools, he taught me Mathematics, English and Quantitative Reasoning every summer break. I remember learning Further Mathematics at a very tender age and this drastically improved my proficiency in Mathematics. I also remember that in secondary school, I used to make some early morning presentations at the assembly ground and fortunately, that helped my public speaking skills as much as it helped to improve my self-confidence. I thank my dad for the things he taught me because they later formed a solid background for me academically. In my previous schools, I was a star girl. I represented my secondary school in inter-school competitions such as Cowbell Mathematics Competition, Olympiad Mathematics and two literature competitions. I was also the best student in the Humanities Department for three consecutive years and I was the valedictorian in my set; 2015 graduating class.

How That Epic Arya Stark Scene Affects a Crucial Game of Thrones Prophecy

Warning: This post contains major spoilers for Game of Thrones season 8 Episode 3.
Just when it seemed like there was no hope for the living to defeat the dead in the Battle of Winterfell on Game of Thrones, Arya Stark popped up out of nowhere to kill the Night King. This act, along with a closer reading of her encounter with Melisandre, may hint at an even bigger role for Arya in the show’s final three episodes.

The key to taking down the Night King was the Valyrian steel dagger that Bran gave Arya last season. Using the same hand-switch trick that she first tested out on Brienne, Arya managed to stab him in the stomach despite the fact that he had her hoisted in the air by the throat.

Premier League: 10 Talking Points from The Weekend’s Action

Chris Hughton’s position looks uncertain after five successful years, Youri Tielemans catches the eye but Leicester will face a battle to keep him and Wolves show the way forward.
1) Manchester City equipped to handle stress
When was the last time Manchester City finished a Premier League match with four centre-halves on the pitch? Pep Guardiola, who admitted he had been “trembling”, said he would have brought on another one if he had not already used all his substitutes and Sean Dyche said, with some pride, that he could tell the City manager was anxious. “I saw Pep Guardiola with my own eyes – and I heard it too – screaming, ‘Get it in the corner.’ That’s some compliment.”

It was certainly not a stress-free afternoon at Turf Moor for the league leaders and reigning champions but 12 league wins in a row suggest City can handle the pressure. If they can make it 14, it will guarantee the championship trophy staying in Manchester and there are no signs that they will not be able to cope now the heat of the battle is close to intolerable.

Mara, in a statement issued in response to an enquiry by The Guardian, said the increasingly young and connected (and therefore demanding) African population would be less and less tolerant of leaders as “special situations” become “detonators of these movements.”

“When a president, after 30 years in power, is still struggling to allow a regular supply of basic necessities in his country and takes unbearable measures for the purse of the weakest, he will face a popular movement,” Mara told The Guardian through one of his aides.
