Even before issuing the deadline, the high rate of unqualified teachers has constituted a threat to the nation’s education sector. It is alarming that 207,818 unqualified teachers are in primary schools across the country, as declared by TRCN based on a survey carried out last year by the Federal Government. The survey conducted by the Federal Government revealed that of the 207,818 unqualified teachers in the primary school sub-sector, the North-East geopolitical zone had the highest figure of 57.7 per cent. The Council traced this misfortune to the invasion of Boko Haram insurgents and other militias that ravaged the nation with the North-West having 46.8 per cent; North-Central 38 per cent; South-South 19.2 per cent, South- East 16.7 per cent and South-West 6.7 per cent unqualified teachers. Unfortunately, beyond the crisis of massive unqualified teachers, it is sad that the system is bogged down by challenges of low period of internship for teachers, high teacher-pupil ratio, politicisation of education and unwarranted government interferences, poor funding and irregular budgetary Read more at; https://newsbreakers.ng/addressing-challenges-of-unqualified-teachers/ NYSC CANCELS DAVIDO ONE YEAR MANDATORY SCHEME National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) has cancelled the compulsory one-year orientation exercise embarked on by Nigerian musician David Adeleke popularly known as Davido. Although there is little left to build on as ours is a political sphere dotted with cynicism. But, with the recent intra, inter, trans and cross political developments/prophesies on our wavelength, it has become an ‘unhappy truth’ that history, like ‘Ifa Oracle’ which neither lie nor gossip is positioning to repeat its self as the masses appears to have again crawled out of waiting passively to crystallize network of mutuality that may replicate 2015 general election experience not minding whether they possess the needed capacity (political and financial) to probe the theory/obligation of power. Very instructive, without being unmindful of the fact that voting during the election may not be enough as what happens between elections is the measure of how a government treats its people, one must in the interim, frankly acknowledge the energy dissipated in awareness creation on the need for the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) possession as well as the imperativeness of voting in the forthcoming general elections.
