Nairaland General › Re: How Long Do I Have To Continue Playing Before I Win? by nex(m): 8:44am On Nov 20, 2012
Well, there are different type of promos. Most of the promos in Nigeria are TRY YOUR LUCK promos. In these types of promos, the organizers are also the judges, and can simply pull out any name from thin air, claiming to be the winner. However, what some of us are clamouring for, are promos that will be based on the amount of effort put in by the contestants, and also a transparent system by which it can be monitored.

The Media and Entertainment City, Tinapa, Calabar for instance has needs to recruit a team of young fresh entertainment acts who are popular enough in their friends' circles for movies, so they set up the Xcite Africa POPULARITY CONTEST. It's a promo where you get peole to vote for you, and the general public can keep count of the votes. Winner takes home an SUV by garnering 10,000 votes.

TV/Movies › Re: Premiere Of “Okon Goes To School” (Pics & Video) by nex(m): 1:01pm On Nov 19, 2012
I was at the premiere of Okon Goes To School. In fact, I've not been able to finish writing my review of the movie cos I keep cracking up whenever I remember scenes from the Movie. My conclusion is that Imeh Bishop Umoh be cast into a mental institution and they should give Frodo the key to throw it where he threw the ring. That man is totally ridiculous. Belinda Effah did great too in the few minutes she acted. She sure is the next Nollywood sex symbol.

By the way, I was sitting right next to Desmond Elliot, throughout the screening WHY YOU NO POST MY PICTURES?!

Events › Re: Fans Refuse To Attend Keri Hilson's Show In Abuja? by nex(m): 5:52am On Nov 18, 2012
Ah! It wasn't that bad. People came eventually. I believe the other pictures were taken and shared online during preparation of the venue. Also, some people were scared because Tonto Dikeh was listed among artists for the show. They were afraid she was going to perform, till the organizers allayed their fears.

Celebrities › Re: Keri Hilson Is Now In Nigeria (pics) by nex(m): 7:51am On Nov 17, 2012
Why are they doing this to us?! Why do they want Tonto Dikeh to ruin such an event, and defame us in front of such great talent and beauty. I must speak to the organizers.
Webmasters › Re: Bloggers How Much Do You Make A Month. by nex(m): 11:58am On Nov 16, 2012
Well, I'm not a blogger, at least not in the sense which every Nigerian has now become a blogger. I have a blog, but it is actually my own personal weBLOG. I rarely share it. I'm a microblogger though, and a Social Media Marketer. I make an average of N100,000/month tweeting as @Bar_Baric for various Nigerian brands, and in the month of my highest earnings, which I had a deal with Nigeria Breweries, I made up to N600,000 that month alone (July 20012).

Aside from that, most bloggers exaggerate the amount they make from blogging. Ask them for their tax receipts, that's when they'll start sweating. No Nigerian blogger makes millions from blogging! None! Don't be deceived into giving up your day job please!

It is very sad to learn that previously, these Ministers bring their phones switched on, to meetings with the President, and when their phones ring, they even go further to pick up the calls, and carry on with phone discussion during FEC meetings...with the President. It is not done anywhere. Jonathan is the President that will lead the country to destruction.

No wonder the other day, Steven Orosanye could tell him "So what?" to the President's own face. We're living in shame as a nation. How dare anyone bring a phone to a meeting, and go ahead to pick a call when it rings, let alone, when in a meeting with the President! Hmmm!

Why dem come chook WizKid for one corner like upcoming artist?! I wasn't feeling that at all. He was just dancing alongside the others, and it seemed like the camera was deliberately avoiding him. Anyway, I hope no problem sh. Nice video, but I still wish they could do something else aside these "bum-bum" videos.

Entertainment › Re: Can You Go Nude For A Movie Role? by nex(mod): 11:54pm On Nov 14, 2012
Of course, I'm willing to go unclothed for a movie role, as long as it plays great relevance to the plot of the movie. Also, as Ijebabe stated, it won't just be another Nollywood cook-up. Something epic, something that will change the Nigerian movie industry. Funny enough, I won't request a huge sum of money.

On the other hand, there is no amount of money I'll be offered, that will convince me to act nude in these "Ukwa" or "Aki and PawPaw" movies.
Celebrities › Re: Dr Sid Attacks Website For Giving D’Prince’s Frenzy Album A 3/5 Rating by nex(m): 4:36pm On Nov 14, 2012
I can understand D'Prince, he has not one single artistic bone in his body. "my money wey dey ooze like chuku chuku". That is pure idiocy, but I really don't care.

My issue though is with Dr Sid. He should know better. We were taught what a METAPHOR is in school, and in case anyone has forgotten, lemme quote from a Google search: "A figure of speech in which an implicit comparison is made between two unlike things that actually have something in common “I dey pop, I am not a pauper, drinks flying in the air like a chopper", please what in the Hell is this?!

I respect Dr Sid, and his hustle, but he should respect himself too.

Entertainment › How Do We Confirm Tonto 's 5.2Million Downloads. by nex(mod): 10:50pm On Nov 13, 2012
Since Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, unleashed her two recordings, "Get High" and "Itz Ova", on unsuspecting Nigerians, controversies have continued to trail the #POKO move.

A lot of people have quoted various figures in an effort to shore up some support for the actress'abysmal performance. Ranging from 1 million downloads in a day, to 2.3 million downloads in 2 days, to 5.2 million downloads in a week. The issue though, is that there is no download site where any such figure can be confirmed. So do we just take Tonto Dikeh's word for it?

MTN Nigeria has just announced Miss Ebube Essien-Garricks, a 27 year old student based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as winner of the brand new Cessna 182T AEROPLANE in their Ultimate Wonder Promo which ended today!

Phones › Re: NCC Bans All Telcos From Promotions And Lotteries by nex(m): 10:22am On Nov 13, 2012
I said it about 2 weeks ago that the NCC was working in conjunction with MTN on that aeroplane promo. Now that the prize winner is about to be revealed, the NCC has tactically surfaced to protect their partner MTN from giving out any such prize. THUNDA FAYA DEM!

MTN must give out that plane because the promo has already been concluded. NCC did not ban prize giving, what they banned are promos. Unluckily for MTN their promo is over, so they can't hide behind the NCC. These people have been scamming Nigerians so much that they've even decided to make it as glaring as possible.

Well, I left their network a few months back, and I didn't die. Those of you who are still being used as maga, I say to you: YELLO FOOLS!

I had earlier started an anti-piracy move against all media houses in Nigeria, and I was trying to mobilize records label executives, and veteran music artists, when suddenly, I saw this same article on 360 nobs. It was really upsetting for me, especially coming from a lawyer.

She should should not die O! She is one of those who has been "earmarked" for killing when the revolution comes. Please she should do us the honour and sustain her breath till the time when the poor man she is fighting for will take his fight up by himself. Then he will show who his real enemies are by spilling their blood.

Please, madam Oteh, don't die just yet.
Entertainment › Re: A Crash Course In Piracy- Tonto Dikeh & Lessons For Nigerian Artists by nex(mod): 4:58pm On Nov 11, 2012
First off, I don't understand how someone will try to explain the uniqueness of the Nigerian entertainment industry by quoting American statistics. The article is just a bundle of confusion. By the way, having been a Social Media Marketer for a couple of years, I can tell you all that bad news sells more than good news on blogs and websites. This means that if Tonto Dikeh rather than Adele had released "Someone Like You", less than 300,000 people would have downloaded it. If it wasn't for free, then even less than 10,000 would have bought it online. You can find that out from Spinlet.

Generally, I'll blame publishing of this article on the need for publicity. The writer wanted to be known, and possibly consulted for legal advice on entertainment issues, unfortunately, it is the same article that has exposed them as a quack "charge and bail" lawyer. Online piracy can be stopped. It's a shame that someone hiding underthe wig of a lawyer will want to tell us otherwise.

I know most of the music being released today is mediocre, and cheaply produced by non-professionals like Tonto Dikeh, who can therefore give it out for free, however, we do have very hardworking artists such as Bez Idakula, Christine Ben-Ameh, and TuFace Idibia who put in their all into making amazing music. Asking these hardworking professional musicians to give out all their music for free, just because of our laze in combatting piracy, is indeed myopic and very retrogressive.
