This Zig Ziglar, should go and join his fellow conman who wrote that grand fallacy, The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People, Steve Covey in Hell.

6) “People don’t buy for logical reasons. They buy for emotional reasons.”

This quote above, if it really came from this Zig Ziglar fellow, is very, very false! I've been a marketer for almost 20 years now, and I can tell you that though people buy for emotional reasons, the only sure reason they buy, when push comes to shove, is for logical reasons.

Whether these ladies are wearing makeup or not, they don't look bad. Tiwa looks quite beautiful, even in the photo posted, and Waje may not be a beauty queen, but she definitely is not ugly. They are both ladies who, if they were the girl next door from your house, you're be interested in. Don't try to drag them down just because they're popular.

Well, I read a book on Photography yesterday morning, and I can officially say that I'm now a professional photographer. Well, if that's not enough, well, at least I'm a promoter of works by several young Nigerian photographers, and I'll be featuring a lot of their photos in this section, starting with this thread.

Music/Radio › Re: Nigerian Music Of Today Is An Aberration by nex(m): 12:03pm On Nov 28, 2012
Nigerian music has really descended to the lowest depth, but I must add that this raging phenomenom is not restricted Nigerian music. Listen to most of the music coming out of the USA today, it's the same crock of crap?! The media, spearheaded by MTV, has shown that constant broadcast of rubbish to viewers can brainwash them into appreciating garbage, and that is what they are selling to wannabe pop stars today, in conjunction with music and video producers, who add glitz and glamour to senseless rants by financially gifted but artistically talentless individuals.

You must have heard Gangnam Style by PSY. It is a quite recent song, void of meaning, even in the Korean dialect, yet has become one of the most popular songs in the world today. Blame it on the media. Blame it on a record label with a gargantuan budget but not the patience to train and groom artistes...no love for the craft they claim to be out to propagate.

In the past few weeks, we also witnessed the misadventure of a mediocre actress who tried to further infect the music industry with the shallowness of Nollywood, however, she went overboard by a long shot. Tonto Dikeh is the perfect example of where the Nigerian music industry is headed in the next decade if we do not sanitize it. I personally believe the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) or the Nigerian Institute of Standards (NIS) has to come into the entertainment industry and start getting rid of these substandard pieces of art.

Some have pointed to the need to make a living, but art is not a commodity made for the love of money; It is made for the love of the art! Others strive to give the fans what the fans want, but they forget they are professionals. Would a doctor prescribe anti-biotics to a diabetic rather than insulin simply because that's what the patient wants?

Finally, PMAN itself is not helping. They are supposed to be the guild which accredits performers, musicians, and singers, yet the process of admission of members remains unclear. As an apprentice musician, or upcoming artist, one must create a piece of work which masters in the industry will examine, and if they pass it as a MASTERPIECE, then will such an apprentice be admitted as a master of their craft, and granted membership of the guild. Whether PMAN scrutinizes works by upcoming artistes in order to make them members, I really doubt. They simply grant membership to anyone the media has made popular. Imagine if such yardstick were used in other fields such as Accounting, Law, Medicine, Piloting, and Engineering. We'd all be dead by now.

As every Nigerian who is buoyant enough to pay the top music producers, video producers, radio and television stations keeps popping up as music artists, the industry itself is veering out of control toward that very same iceberg which sank the Titanic, and I'm afraid there will be no survivors.

TV/Movies › Re: Nollywood Already Working On ALUU4 Movie by nex(m): 11:55am On Nov 28, 2012
Nothing good can ever come out of Nollywood. So they can't even strip them naked?! What is acting if you cannot even portray the simplest of the events as they happen?! These people should not make a mockery of what those young men went through simply because of the lust to make a sharp buck. THEY WILL BE HAUNTED!
Politics › Re: Lagos Sued For Proposed N500 Toll On Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge by nex(m): 10:51pm On Nov 27, 2012
This lawyer was doing well till he started to sue the Attorneys-General of the federation, and that of Lagos State. What is their business with suspension bridge? Instead of remaining in their good books so that they may hear him fairly, this man has gone to pitch his tent against the judges for no other reason than the fact that democracy permits him to do so.

I would have supported him if he had instituted a reasonable suit against the Governor, and the Lagos state Ministry of Waterfront and Infrastructure. But I have not beef with any judge, or any Attorney_general, and I can't understand why they're being sued.

God bless Nigeria, and may Nigerians learn the best way to fight for their liberties.

The vigilante group claim that they easily captured the brothers. So at what point the the beatings come in? I really don't understand these people. Yes, the elder ones may have gotten their information from the younger brother, but he may not have known what their plan was. After all, I know people who have convinced their relatives to marry someone, while they had their own ulterior motives.

I use it all the time. However, the contact forms on most sites are not tended to. I used the one on Tolu Oniru's site, and haven't got a reply since. I prefer to copy an email address or phone number off the "Contact Us" page, though sometimes, that may also prove worthless. Last night, I copied the email addresses off the "Contact Us" page of the Federal Radio Corporation Nigeria (FRCN) website, and I sent them a mail, this morning, 2 Mailer Daemon inbox.

Music/Radio › Re: P-Square: Kings Of Copy, Sampling And Overlifting by nex(m): 8:48am On Nov 25, 2012
Well, PSquare have been copying for a very long time now. They started by copying foreign music, then J Martin came to their rescue, but after he kicked off his own career, he's kept all his songs to himself. Then they acquired May D, but the terms and conditions were too rugged. They wanted the boy's music for themselves, without giving him due credit, or even adequate pay. It didn't quite work out right.

Now that they have lots of shows and concerts outside the country, and they are making lots of money from that, they cannot continue copying foreign artist's music, so they have now fallen on the local acts. It's a shame that Timaya won't speak up. He's the only one, alone with his label, who can file an official complaint. Anyway, the next thing they will do now is to start asking upcoming artists to submit demos, then...you know the rest.

Justice has been kidnapped in my country and nobody’s willing to pay her ransom
She was absent at the tribunal when the verdict was given,
So the marauders were declared winners, even though we know the votes were phantom.
Chaos convulses the land, we’re on the verge of catastrophe, the tranquility’s been shattered,
We can’t even piece together the peace,
Justice has been kidnapped somebody please call the police!
But my friends mock my naiveté
Poets that they are, they blaspheme,
Claiming the patriotic men in uniform are part of the conspiracy.
Justice has been kidnapped in my country and nobody’s willing to pay her ransom
When was she last seen? Errrr, I can’t remember.
She was missing in the years of IBB when Dele Giwa was blown to pieces,
She was absent when Abacha reigned and Justice Auta hit the gavel, Saro Wiwa was hung,
To hell with the critics.
Justice has been missing in my country for so long,
The 4th republic gave us a made-up version of her
But she was promiscuous and so wrong,
Worst of all she could see.
Distinguishing between foes and friends of the government ,
Working through the hands of the EFCC.
Which reminds me,
Nuhu Ribadu was acclaimed her champion, that dispensation’s faithful man.
Until wiki leaked, and we heard him sing like a canary,
Humming a different tune before the Americans.

In fact, Justice has missing since the 1st republic when Awo was thrown in prison for treason,
Since the soil in Oloibiri bled oil,
And the windfall from the boom accentuated our division.
Believe now
Justice has been lost since Nigeria was found.
A friend said he saw her at Mile 12, lately
When a pick pocket was mobbed and set ablaze, maybe
That was Justice, but I’m still not sure,
Cos I see sticky fingered politicians and officials roaming free, even on TV,
sitting in the assembly were they make laws.
Justice come home we miss you,
Justice come back we need you,
Justice we weep for everyday,
Even the Church can’t remember what you look like
Though for you they fast and pray.

Activists and youths
Tweet, blog, even march on the streets in protest for you,
But I don’t trust them, cos while their leaders get famous
I still don’t see Justice free amongst us.
I wrote a poem for you Justice,
But I fear that’s the best I’m willing to do. I guess I’m just as guilty.
Just as complicit as the politicians and Judges, the police and all of civil society,
Who speak like they love you, but won’t dare to bleed
To see you freed.
Justice has been kidnapped in my country
And for her freedom we’re not willing to pay the cost
But until she’s found
We, my people, will be lost
Justice has been kidnapped in my country
And nobody, not even you, is willing to pay her ransom.

Please, has anybody even taken out time to verify this story?! Nigerians are so smart, but when it comes to issues that divide us, we tend not to think deep before jumping to conclusion, and accusing the other party. Nobody wearing any mini skirt was killed in Maiduguri at 1 am.

I have screenmunched the vanguard page where this very malicious story was posted, and since we don't have a Newspaper Licensing Agency as civilized countries do, I will be force to email the National Orientation Agency.

Music/Radio › "Yes/no", "Good Good Loving": Banky W Keeps It R&B In The R&BW Album by nex(op): 9:57am On Nov 21, 2012
On Monday, Banky W released two more tracks from his forthcoming R&BW album. Currently, Banky W is about the most successful Nigerian artist in terms of the period of time between the release of his first single in Nigeria, to becoming a household name in the Nigerian music industry, and today, the boss of one of the top 3 record labels in Nigeria, E.M.E Records, home to another astronomically successful artist, Ayo "Wizkid" Balogun.

Listening through the entire Banky W discography, the uniqueness of his style is apparently his high regard for quality and standard. From "Don't Wanna" and "Make U Feel", off his first album, the "Undeniable" LP, through "Strong Ting" (one of the best R&B songs ever by a Nigerian) from "The W Experience" LP, Banky W has continued to keep it very R&B, and my guess is because he focuses on delivering to the global music industry, and leans less toward making local 'club bangers'.

No doubt, Banky is a role model of most young and emerging artists, however, one must wonder how it is that these upcoming artists have adamantly insisted that the route to success in Nigerian music is by lacing dilute lyrics on concentrated instrumentals. The lessons remain unlearnt.
