mdokaba1:
NOBLE IGWE EXPLAINS WHY ORGANIZERS OF BBNAIJA ALLEGEDLY BLACKLISTED EFE AFTER HE WON THE REALITY SHOW.

Media personality, Noble Igwe has made public the reasons why organizers of BBNaija allegedly blacklisted Efe after he won the reality show.

Recall that Efe secured 57.61 per cent of votes to emerge winner of the 2017 Big Brother Naija ‘See Goobe’ reality TV show. The Warri-born rap artist beat Bisola, who became the 1st runner up with 18.54 per cent of the vote at the grand finale.

Igwe served a response after a Twitter user asked why Multichoice has allegedly shut Efe out even though he has “apologized and tried to make amends.”

According to the media personality, Efe sat in his car and asked for the head of Multichoice to meet him before he comes out.

Politics › Re: Abaribe: There’re Over 30 Separatist Groups In South-East Nigeria Alone by NGArmyTerrorist: 11:06pm On Oct 06, 2021
EXTompolo:
There’re over 30 separatist groups in South-east Nigeria – Abaribe

The senator said Buhari’s administration brands IPOB members as terrorists, while it continues to “beautify” perpetrators of insecurity in the north as bandits.

The Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, said there are over 30 separatist groups in Nigeria’s South-east, besides the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) which has been proscribed by the Nigerian government.

Mr Abaribe (Abia-South/PDP) who spoke on Tuesday in a Channel TV’s programme, Politics Today, said the media was creating an impression that IPOB was the only group agitating for Biafra in the South-east.

The senator made the remark when the programme anchor, Seun Okinbaloye, asked him if he was IPOB’s supporter.

“Are you a supporter of IPOB?” Mr Okinbaloye asked the senator.

“I am a supporter of the cries of our people against injustice,” he responded.

Continuing, Mr Abaribe said, “Last Friday, I was chairman of a book launch – Children of Biafra. It is a book about the Biafran war, seen through the eyes of a child.

“Several people wrote their childhood experiences, a very poignant book that everybody needs to read. And in my statement, I said that a short while ago, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar made a statement, whether jokingly or not. And that statement was that the actions and policies of this government is turning everybody into a Biafran.

Everybody is complaining about injustice, everybody is complaining about marginalization, everybody is complaining about nepotism.

“I stand with my people.

“There are more than 30 different separatist organisations, apart from IPOB.

“Why we are having agitations in different parts of Nigeria is that we aren’t able to manage our diversity.”

Senator Abaribe blamed President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for the lingering security challenges in Nigeria.

He said the administration was applying double-standard in its handling of the security challenges in the South-east and the North-east and the North-west.

He said the administration brands IPOB members as terrorists, while it continues to “beautify” perpetrators of insecurity in the north as bandits.

“The single most dangerous part is this influx of non-Nigerians with military-grade weapons sweeping across our country, going into the countryside and committing mayhem, but no effort is made to profile them, no effort is made to ensure that there is a counter surge against them. All that has been happening is the attempt to reach (an) agreement. How do you reach (an) agreement with a terrorist who is coming from outside the country, trying to take over?”

The senator faulted the argument that Mr Buhari inherited the current security challenges from the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration.

“In the build-up to the 2015 election, we didn’t have insurgency in the North-west, we didn’t have any in the South-west, and neither did we have any in the South-east.

“The problem in the South-south, in the Niger Delta, had been largely resolved by the PDP government of President Yar’Adua,” he said.

Mr Kanu was “abducted” in Kenya and sneaked into Nigeria in June this year after he fled the country. He is standing trial in Abuja for alleged treason.

Senator Abaribe said he does not regret being a surety for Mr Kanu, and that he would do it again if he has the opportunity to do so.

Nairaland General › “ahm Well, So I, I, I, You Know, I Am Not, You Know, I Am”: Tolu Ogunlesi Suffer by NGArmyTerrorist(op): 9:24pm On Oct 06, 2021
Tolu Ogunlesi, a new media aide to PresidentMuhammadu Buhari, tried unsuccessfully to defend the regime’s illegal and indefinite suspension of Twitter in Nigeria.

Mr Ogunlesi appeared on a CNN segment with Larry Madowo on Wednesday, where he was asked whether he was in support of the ban or not.

“Ahm well, so I, I, I, you know, I’m not, you know, the government of Nigeria has made a decision.

You know aah.. and for me, no it’s so, I’m not sure that’s the question you should be asking me,” Mr Ogunlesi said as the host pushed him to give a yes or no response.

“I think it’s a win-win actually for both twitter and the government of Nigeria.

That’s certainly the view I get out of the um negotiations. It’s a win-win for both parties and ehm, I’m happy about that?”

Mr Madowo quickly pushed back that the unconstitutional and repressive measure could not have been a win-win as Mr Ogunlesi suggested because Nigerians have already deployed VPNs to bypass the restriction and continue to use Twitter to carry out their businesses and comment on state policies.

Following the ban in Nigeria on June 4, Mr Ogunlesi and fellow supporters of the Buhari-led regime, including Bashir Ahmad, Ajuri Ngelale, Philip Obin, Abubakar Sidiq Usman, stopped using Twitter to engage online.

Information minister Lai Mohammed, while announcing the suspension in a press statement on June 4, said Twitter activities were capable of undermining Nigeria’s national security and corporate existence.

The ban was ordered days after Twitter removed Mr Buhari’s tweet for threatening genocide against Nigerians of Igbo ethnic group who have long oppossed his sectional and exclusive government.

Attorney-General Abubakar Malami also said the ban was ordered because using Twitter in Nigeria was seditious, a claim that has been condemned by rights activists.

Since the ban in June, Nigerian government officials had been in a series of meetings with Twitter, but neither party would disclose the details of ongoing discussions.

Twitter, however, assured repeatedly to Peoples Gazette that the talks have been cordial and fruitful.

Mr Ogunlesi, an opinion writer and former critic of the political elite, quickly switched sides when he was asked to be one of the president’s dozens of new media assistants in 2016.

He has continued to defend the government’s actions, even when they conflict with his previously-held positions.

Following the murder of at least nine #EndSARS protesters in Lagos on October 20, 2020, Mr Ogunlesi disappeared from social media.

He, however, returned a few weeks later to continue his service to the Buhari regime, beginning first with a Medium article that many readers criticised as a show of support for the soldiers’ brutality.

Politics › Re: As The Law Stands: Peter Obi And The Issue Of Offshore Companies by NGArmyTerrorist: 7:57pm On Oct 06, 2021
[s]
AnonPoet:
The news space has been agog with the news of high profile individuals, politicians and businessmen, all over the world owning offshore companies in what has been dubbed the ‘Pandora Papers’. It is said to be a project involving 600 journalists from 150 news organisations around the world with a cache of 11.9 million confidential files purportedly exposing how the world super rich use tax havens to avoid paying tax. This is not the first time investigations about shell companies involving the ultra rich have made their way to the mainstream media. In 2017, a similar report tagged ‘the Paradise Papers’, a report of 1.4 terabyte data, created a sensation when it was released.

Peter Obi, a two term governor of Anambra State and former presidential aspirant under the PDP was one of the names dropped by the report. A politician known for his trailblazing policies and enviable record as a pacesetter and administrator extraordinaire. As governor, Mr. Obi’s ANIDS (Anambra Integrated Development Strategy), an initiative premised on the internationally acclaimed Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of eradicating of extreme poverty, reduction of child mortality, boost to maternal health, environmental sustainability and global partnership in development, left behind an infrastructurally improved state. His investment in education transformed the educational system of the state, making it possible for the state to become the best performing state in mathematics and sciences, best in NECO, best in WAEC and overall best in JAMB scores.

His administration’s policies attracted direct foreign investment, which provided jobs and encouraged indigenous investments. It is on record that he left his state debt free at the end of his tenure as governor of Anambra state. Former World Bank Director in Nigeria, Omo Ruhl once described him as “an exceptional leader and very prudent in financial management and I believe his interest is to better the lots of his people which to my mind is very remarkable.”

In the light of the coming high octane drama that is Nigerian political season, it is no surprise that Mr. Obi has found himself at the center of an unwelcome attention. In the ‘Pandora Papers’, there are insinuations of illegality surrounding his ownership of offshore companies. His companies Gabriella Investment, PMGG Investment and Trust, Gabriella Settlement were entities listed in the reports. The tradition of using offshore companies is worldwide and not peculiar to Nigeria. Now it begs the question, did Mr. Obi break the law by owning these companies. In my opinion, he did not. There’s nothing unlawful in the ownership of offshore companies as long as they are not vehicles for money laundering. The report aimed through the emphasis on the listed companies, to portray the former governor and presidential aspirant as though he had committed a crime by ownership of offshore companies whereas there is no law in Nigeria stipulating ownership of offshore assets as a crime.

On the issue of failure to declare his companies assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau, Mr Obi had stated in his defense that he was not under obligation to declare companies jointly owned. A statement which the report appears to vilify. Indeed the code of conduct law requires public office holders to declare own assets, as well as those owned by their spouses and children below the age of 18. However, the report failed to show if the listed companies linked to Mr. Obi held any assets, traded or conducted business that would have generated taxable income in order to qualify as ‘assets’. If these companies, registered way before Mr. Obi became a public official are not proven to generate income, then these reports are malicious and aimed at painting Mr. Obi in a poor light.

The report also accuses Mr. Obi of owning a Lloyds TSB bank account as governor in contravention of the Code of Conduct Law, while in the same breath admitting that the account was opened in 2001, five years before he became governor. What the report should have told Nigerians is if the said account was active and used for transactions while Mr. Obi was governor.

Taking a look at the issue of declaring his family’s trust, we must look to the Personal Income Tax (Amendment) Act for guidance. It must be noted that there is a school of thought that supports the argument that only the amount distributed from an Offshore Trust to a taxable person in Nigeria will form a taxable income in Nigeria and not the entire income derived by the Offshore Trust from the assets/ investments held in trust. Such income will then be exempted from tax where it is brought into Nigeria through Government approved channels, such as the commercial banks. Now, the reports failed to showed how the Trust is administered and whether any amount is paid to Mr. Obi in order to make him liable of tax avoidance. Rather it avers that a New Zealander entity, Granite Trust Company Limited is the sole trustee of The Gabriella Settlement. Should a foreign trustee be subject to Nigerian tax laws?

Paragraph 1 of the second schedule to PITAM provides that the income of a Trust shall be deemed to be income of the Settlor of the Trust where the Settlor retains or has a right over the capital assets of the trust; retains or has a right over the income derived from the capital assets of the trust; makes use of the income of the trust by borrowing from it; and resumes control or the spouse resumes control over the asset or income of the Trust. By this submission, Granite Trust Company, a non-Nigerian entity cannot be liable to Nigerian tax laws as it is the sole trustee of the trust.

If Mr. Obi has no legal authority to either control or influence the trust, how can he be said to have broken the law? These are the pertinent questions that begs answers.

Politics › Re: Exercise Golden Down; See The Real Reason Dr Akunyili Was Killed . by NGArmyTerrorist: 10:44am On Oct 05, 2021
banom:
The Nigerian military is always clever by half; they craft all these their dirty half thought out strategies thinking they will fool everyone. looking at the shocking murder of Dr Akunyili about a week ago, one wonders why would that innocent noble man be killed for no reason, who killed him, and for what purpose ?

The killers and the purpose is simple;he was killed by the Nigerian military. Why ? Because they want to use it to justify military invasion of Igbo land in general, and anambra state in particular in order to massacre Igbo youths and Ipob members, and also to help APC win the upcoming Anambra state election. This is also in view of NNAMDI KANU's court case coming up on the 21st of this month where it is expected that the Nigerian government will act something funny that day and IPOB members will go wild thereafter.

They are also the ones behind the burning of FRSC, and DSS office in Anambra state , and also behind all the killings going on in Anambra that their collaborative media houses have propagated as the hand work of IPOB and ESN ...all to give the impression of insecurity and justify military invasion of Anambra state and the killing of Igbo youths that will ensure soon. A kind of giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it.

Let me explain this further .

Do you still remember operation python dance and how it started ?,.... Then, the Biafran agitation by IPOB was at all time high, NNAMDI KANU was going about holding rallies everywhere, his Biafran freedom message was resonating with the people all over the place, his court case was also coming up, and more than anything, the Nigerian government never wanted the court case to go on because they have nothing to nail him, but all the same, something needed to be done to deal with him and crush the agitation once and for all. The solution, they wrongly thought, was military invasion of Abia state under the guise of peace keeping, and annual military exercise in the name of operation python dance.

In order to justify the invasion and the massacre that will follow, they severally baited IPOB members into confrontation with Nigerian military officers on so many occasions, which Ipob members were disciplined and clever not to take. And failing to get IPOB members to take the bait, they stage managed the rest, and used that as a justification to invade Abia state in the guise of an annual military exercise; an exercise that end up taking place in the Afara ukwu home of NNAMDI KANU, and culminated in the massacre and disappearance of hundreds of Ipob members, and only ended after they achieved what they wanted.

This is exactly what they have planned for Anambra state. Their calculation is this , Anambra is the head of the Igbo nation, and the greatest supporters and financiers of IPOB and ESN... a kind of center of gravity. In order to finaly crush the agitation, they believe, thy need to hit hard on Ipob members there, and also to take over the political leadership of the state by making sure their preferred candidate wins the upcoming governorship election.... Just like hope uzodimma of imo state, a candidate that have assured them behind closed doors that if helped to win will do everything to deal with Ipob members and kill the agitation. They believe with imo and anambra state in their pocket, Igbos will be kept in check. ( That is why you see some politicians defecting from the ruling APGA to APC. These are people who have gotten the tip that there is a a ruthless federal government and caliphate plan to take over Anambra state ).

That was what NNAMDI KANU saw months ago when he warned that every young person, man or woman in Anambra state should leave the state or enter into the bush that heavy rain is about to fall. That heavy rain is what is about to happen now starting as exercise GOLDEN DOWN. As golden as it has been called, they rain will be heavy and heavier than operation python dance , only that, unlike during python dance, IPOB now has at least some form of umbrella to protect them from the rain.

This is why the Nigerian military is currently moving in heavy military equipments into Igbo land that they are telling you to go about your normal business that there is no cause for alarm. That it is an annual exercise..... it is not any exercise, very heavy rain is about to fall. A rain they are justifying with the "artificial insecurity" they created starting with the gruesome murder of DR Akunyili, the stage managed burning of Joe ignokwe's house, the orchestrated destruction of DSS and FRSC offices, and the senseless killings of innocent people by DSS killed squad called unknown gun men.

Actually the killing of Dr Akunyili was strategic; they needed someone of his nobility, background, and caliber to kill and accuse IPOB of, to be able to create the quality of negative sentiment in Igbo people that can turn against Ipob and leave them open to be killed and massacred by the Nigerian military. It should be noted that these military guys they brought into the east, are the same boko haram terrorists few months ago, that the federal government told us are repented and are now part of the Nigerian military.
I like people who reason well and you are one of them! Using history to hold the Nigerian terrorists army accountable for that murder. You are 100% correct!
