The author of widely acclaimed novel, Half of a Yellow Sun, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has recently been named as one the distinguished achievers to be awarded honorary degrees, this year, by the Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, United States. The honorary degrees will be conferred at the university’s commencement ceremony on the 18th of May, 2016.
Adichie will be awarded alongside seven other recognized individuals, visionaries who have made a mark in various fields. They include groundbreaking filmmaker Spike Lee, the founding director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, Laurie Zabin, Nobel Prize winner, Richard Axel, amongst others.
Ronald J. Daniels, President of the Johns Hopkins University, describes the group as people who have challenged the status quo and changed the world for the better. They have made a lasting impact on the arts, public health, the law, neuroscience and the resilience of communities here in Baltimore and across the globe.”
This is a very well deserved honour for Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. As one of the world’s leading feminist and an insightful cultural critic, she has become quite influential on the global stage over the years, continually gaining recognition. The author who earned a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins’ Writing Seminars in 2003, is no stranger to awards and has amassed quite a number already. Her novel, Americanah, won the National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction in 2013. In 2008, she won a MacArthur Foundation genius grant.
A year ago, Adichie was listed among Time’s 100 most influential people. Last November, she received the award for the ‘Best of The Best’ female fiction writer for the last decade by the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction and also made the list of 100 most influential Africans by the New African Magazine. And in January 2016, she made Ventures Africa’s list of 15 African Creatives To Watch Out For this year

PoliticsRe: No One Can Stop Us From Grazing In The South — Fulani Herdsmen by ngoziama: 11:24am On May 01, 2016
nairacoded:
Herdsmen from different parts of Nigeria have stated that nobody can stop them from grazing their cattle in any part of the country, especially in the south. They described such restriction as unconstitutional.

The nomads, who spoke to SUNDAY PUNCH under the auspices of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, dismissed the ultimatums given by different groups for the herdsmen to vacate the southern part of the country.
This is despite the fact that groups, including foremost Yoruba farmers’ pressure group and ethnic militia, Agbekoya Farmers Association of Nigeria in the South-West; the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (South-East); the Independent Peoples of Biafra (South-East); and some ex-Niger Delta militants in the South-South, stated their readiness to defend their territories should herdsmen attack their communities again.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen, who grazed their cattle from the northern part of the country to the southern part, had been accused of killing, raping and robbing members of their host communities.

The Enugu incident, where several lives were lost, was the most recent.

But the herdsmen, in separate interviews with our correspondents on Saturday, noted that it was wrong for people to restrict their movement as the constitution guaranteed their movement into any part of the country.

The Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Plateau State, Mr. Nuru Abdullahi, said nobody could deprive Fulani herdsmen of their constitutional right of free movement.

Abdullahi said, “Why would they ask them not to go to the southern part of the country? It is their constitutional right to move freely as guaranteed by the laws of the land. What the various governments and security agencies should do is to prevent attacks and counter-attacks and such things that breed violence like cattle rustling and trespassing into farmlands.

“The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria guarantees freedom of movement for every citizen of the country; this includes the right to live, work and carry out any legitimate activity in any part of the country. If and when you breach this freedom, then, the law should deal with you. So, asking anybody not to go to any part of the country is unconstitutional.”

Also, the Chairman, MCBAN, North-West Zone, Mr. Ardo Ahmadu Suleiman, warned against criminalising all Fulani herdsmen over the attacks.

He said, “We are law abiding citizens of Nigeria. The constitution forbids anybody or group from banning anybody’s movement from one part of the country to another. We have been staying peacefully with tribes across the country for ages. Therefore, for anyone to say he wants to ban Fulani from entering their land is uncalled for.”

However, several socio-cultural and militia groups in the southern part of the country on Saturday stated their readiness to reject the invasion of their communities by Fulani herdsmen.

Agbekoya gave the Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum to stop the incessant attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen on farmers in Yorubaland even as it vowed to retaliate any attack on its members.

The position of the group was made known by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olatunji Bandele, in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents on Saturday.

According to Bandele, if the Federal Government fails to act decisively within the stipulated time, the Agbekoya will have to defend its people with whatever means at its disposal.

Bandele said the association held an emergency meeting last Thursday where it discussed the incessant onslaught by Fulani herdsmen against Yoruba farmers, especially in the Oke Ogun area of Oyo State.

He stated that if the situation was not brought under control, the group would “close down all markets in the South West; make sure that Fulani herdsmen do not enter any village in Yoruba land with their cows. And if they dare enter, they are doing it at their own risk.

“We have alerted Agbekoya South West warriors across Yorubaland to be battle ready in case the Fulani herdsmen do not heed our warning because this thing has continued for the past four to five years now.”

Bandele added, “We have other security measures that we are taking but keeping to ourselves. If the Fulani herdsmen failed to heed our warning and they dare enter Yorubaland, they will be doing so at their own risk. We are waiting for the Federal Government to take decisive action.”

The deadline, he added, started to read from last Thursday.

Asked if the group was now arming its members against the reported sophisticated fire arms of the suspected herdsmen, Bandele said, “We are not bothered with whether they carry arms or not, we will deal with the Fulani herdsmen hands down. We have done it before. The Agbekoya fought a 14-month war with the military. That was in 1968/69. We have instructed our warriors. Anywhere they kill farmers again, we will move in.”

Asked what the association would do per chance any part of Yoruba land was attacked, he said, “We will retaliate.”

The leader of MASSOB, Mr. Uchenna Madu, lamented that Igbo people had been “talking and talking” while they watched their people being killed. He stated that it was time for “action” to end killings by herdsmen.

Madu said, “The Fulani herdsmen are cowards. After the recent attacks, they ran away. If they mean business, let them wait for Ndi’gbo and we will engage them man-to-man.

“It will be demeaning to ask us if we have the capability to confront them.”

IPOB, another Igbo secessionist group which dismissed security agencies as failing to secure the people, alleged that Boko Haram had been disguising as herdsmen to attack parts of the country.

The Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Mr. Emma Powerful, stated that the group would not be at the forefront of reprisals against criminal herdsmen in the region but would encourage those under attack to defend and retaliate in self defence.

He said, “The world is watching IPOB; the plan was for us to retaliate the attacks by Fulani herdsmen but we will not do so. Rather, we will ask those who are under attack to defend themselves or get killed.

“The international rule is that you have the right to self defence if your life is under threat; security agencies know that. Face whatever or whoever is going to kill you or you die.”

Another Yoruba group, Oodua Peoples Congress, said although the Yoruba were perceived as accommodating, the group would not sit by and pretend as if all was well.

The National Coordinator of the OPC, Mr. Gani Adams, told one of our correspondents in a telephone interview that the attacks by Fulani herdsmen in the region had gone out of hand.

Adams said, “Nowadays, it is becoming too rampant in the South-West. Now, nobody is provoking the Fulani herdsmen; they are the ones taking laws into their hands, killing and maiming innocent people in their (victims’) communities.

“These Fulani herdsmen may even be Boko Haram in disguise. If government is looking at this as if they are an influential tribe or race in Nigeria and that they can’t tackle it, it may become a very serious security treat.

“We the Yoruba think that we are highly accommodating and that if a stranger who is living in our community has committed an offence, the law should take its own course. But I know for sure that the South-East will not allow their people to be maimed.”

The Chairman of MCBAN in Bauchi State, Abdullahi Abubakar, told SUNDAY PUNCH that the association was planning to hold an emergency executive meeting on Monday or Tuesday to discuss the issues affecting herdsmen.

Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria and the National Association of Nigerian Students have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to come out boldly and tackle the problem.

The Chairman of CAN in the 19 Northern States, Rev. Yakubu Pam, said the President needed to be courageous in tackling his own people and condemning their terrible activities.

Constitution says fulani can graze anywhere but I have not seen the statement that fulani should rape, maim and butcher even babies I mean babies because of cows.Enough is enough. Mmnhhh buhari seems to be seeking division at all cost if he does not implement what he saw and witnessed in kenya (ranches built for their cows).north says it's been born to rule, you gave your region vast land yet you are not contented. Irony of life.buhari this is 21st century , that nomadic life style of migrating to south has to change. Afterall you came with change and therefore fulani cattle rearers pattern is not immuned so buhari change it for peace to reign otherwise there could be impending disasater in nigeria if the south, west and east decide to defend themselves.A word they say is enough for the wise.
PoliticsRe: “it Is An Insult To Label Fulanis As Criminals” -northern Governors by ngoziama: 3:20pm On Apr 30, 2016
hayzee545:
The 19 Northern States Governors have risen to condemn those labeling perpetrators of crimes around the country as Fulani people.

The Governors reaction came on the heels of criticism of fulani herdsmen for recent attack in Agatu, Delta, and Enugu, where scores of people lost their lives and properties destroyed.

The 19 states governors who met behind closed doors said, as much as they condemn the recent attacks in Enugu and other parts of the country, they condemned labelling the criminals as Fulani people.

In a briefing with newsmen, shortly after the meeting at the Kaduna Government House Friday evening, Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, said, it is an insult to label criminals as Fulani.

Shettima said “We want to unequivocally condemn the recent killings in Enugu and other parts of the country. But we equally condemn the politicisation or permit me, the ‘ethinicisation’ of the whole crisis. It goes beyond Fulani. If anything happens, they say Fulani herdsmen; to me it is an insult.

“Kidnapping in this country originated in the South-east, were they called Igbo kidnappers? We have a great national challenge and we want to call on all and sundry to come and let us solve our common challenges as a people. Because the blood of paternity that binds us together supersedes whatever differences that might divide us,” he stressed.

While he condemned the Agatu killings, the NSGF Chairman, charged the media to avoid sensationalism and harp on issues that bind the country Nigerians together.

Shettima you sound so tribalistic and the communique just read by you has tribal and egoistic undertone.
Shettima point of correction, kidnapping did not originate from the south east, carry out a proper research and find the answer.however mr shettima, if you choose to call the south easterners kidnappers then so be it but as igbo I am not proud to have criminals in my region and I challenge the leaders and agencies in charge to rise up to that.mr shettima, the fulani herdsmen have become armed robbers, kidnappers and murderers and if you are saddened by the names being thrown to them then buckle up and rise to that challenge to ensure that your people are tamed to become more human than animalistic. Also, let the criminals in my own region be fished out and punished accordingly.
The same meeting the north held when boko haram were busy bombing churches and you concluded that Jonathan was persecuting the North. Today he has been vindicated because your own brother , buhari has called boko haram evil names at world meetings he has attended and he is leaving no stone unturned in fighting boko haram.
Mr shettima I expected to hear after this meeting that you have all proffered solutions which will be communicated to the president and I expected to also hear that building of ranches would be explored but No all I can hear is that kidnapping started in the south east, people should stop calling fulani herdsmen criminals.Of course, I want to condemn calling fulanis criminals but I join to call the fulani cattle rustlers criminals and muderers.
The issue before us has a solution, all of you as governors have travelled abroad, yet you dont see cows on the streets in london, saudi, dubai, china, usa.so what are we then talking about. Call a spade a spade.I challenge northern governors to build ranches and see positive transformation in the north especially amongst their youths and as regards to job creation.
Our leaders be it east , west, north and south should rise up and fight insurgency and all forms of criminality and stop being tribalistic and unnecessary sentimental over such delicate and important issues.God bless Nigeria!

Kachikwu admits to being an Igbo (many Nigerians, especially Yorubas, wish that Delta Igbos would not affirm being Igbos)

But then he dents his ''Igbo-ness'' by claiming ''more Lagosian''.

Must these claims be mutually exclusive? Can you not simply be an Igbo man who lives or have lived in Lagos?

This is as tweeted by Tolu Ogunlesi, a Yoruba. There is no independent verification if Kachikwu actually said that and in what context.

You iPods are so silly.

Your complaint was the Presidents silence, now he has firmly and fully condemned the criminals and their activities while ordering a clampdown, yet you allege that he is also protecting the herdsmen. How do your brains work for God's sake?

I've made this emphasis on this forum several times; as long as your focus is on demonizing the President because of the activities of terrorist hoodlums that you mischieviously and fraudulently call 'his people', it will be increasingly difficult to end the carnage because you cannot defeat an enemy that you cannot identify properly.

Terrorists are nobody's people.
Action after how many innocent souls have been lost . from taraba to plateau to nassarawa to benue to enugu yet only when reprisal attacks started an order was immediately issued and you call it one nigeria. A country built on lies, slavery and innocent blood.Well, the reactions of the nike people should be an eye opener for the rest of nigeria.
Buhari you visited cattle ranches in kenya, you saw the hygenic environment under which those cattle were being reared.buhari must waka waka be a solution to cattle rearing in nigeria.do you know the jobs you stand to create if the north can tackle desertification and build ranches in the north.the north has vast land yet see what you are still subjecting easterners and the rest of nigerians you have left with little or no land to.
For me, grazing bill is dead on initiation not even arrival.since nigeria has refused to borrow ranch models of some developed countries then keep the cattle in the north.Even those hay the cattle eat, should henceforth be sold to them, yes nothing is free even in freetown.
I remain amazed at the ethnic cleansing going on in the south, west, and east .I am dumbfounded at the lip service played by the present administration and I marvel at how solutions being proferred to solve this problem is silent.stories lie mohammed should tell to the marine.nigeria nigeria I have said it, she is almost getting tired and fed up and that is why she has been showing all these signs.
My question now is how ONE is Nigeria.

Kid, a strong man sheds tears due to the pain of holding back retaliation. The Igbos, with the civil war experience, won't take one week to obliterate a minor phulany tribe. We're sane, they are not. We're strong, they are not. The only leverage they have is their migratory way of life. They can easily lead their herds into the deep forest and keep them there, away from attack, then come back to villages where there are old people and few youth. The farmers have nowhere to move their farmlands and their crops to. When these lanky terrorists attack these farmers and villagers with their dane guns, the farmers are dilemmic, should they abandon their farmlands and crops worth millions of naira and flee? Or stay and defend their lands and crops unarmed? Sadly, they opt for the latter and end up losing their lives.

Since Buhari is alluding the herdsmen's attacks on innocent people are not his business, we'll make it our business to end these attacks the way we know best.

PoliticsRe: Don’t Arrest Jonathan – Northern CAN Warns Buhari by ngoziama: 1:46am On Apr 27, 2016
DONSMITH123:
The Public Relations Officer, 19 Northern States and Abuja of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Joseph Hayab, has observed that the popularity of the present administration in the country was rapidly dwindling among Nigerians, advising that any attempt to arrest former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will not speak well of the country.
In a statement he issued and made available to newsmen in Kaduna Tuesday said, “Every honest Nigerian knows that the fellers on the ground is that this administration’s popularity is dwindling rapidly among Nigerian people. It is, therefore, not advisable to think or plan to arrest former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

“Let me warn that such a misadventure will set a wrong precedent and only open door for mischief people to set this nation into confusion.

“What Nigerians need urgently is availability of fuel, electricity, prompt salary, security of lives and property, among other issues that are begging for urgent answers.

“If the purported plan to arrest him is to please the international community and prove to them that we are fighting corruption, then let us know that this same international community are busy celebrating him as hero of democracy and even those who seriously wanted him to go for a change to happen are now singing a new song about him.

“Former President, Jonathan is deservedly seen in Nigeria and beyond as a hero of democracy because of his actions before, during and after the 2015 elections.

“As such, it will be an ill advice for the Buhari administration to initiate the arrest of such a statesman at this time and with the current realities.

“Our government must know that there are individuals serving today that are also been accused of corruption but since there are claims that nothing has been established against them, they are walking and speaking like saints.

“While ignoring all these, Government now wants to arrest a man of peace like Jonathan? CAN Northern States wishes to advice that such an action, if actualized, has the capacity to lead to serious confusion that will affect Nigeria economically and otherwise.

“We believe Former President Jonathan deserves praise and should receive gratitude from those in power today not scorn.

“Let it not be that this purported planned arrest is meant to distract Nigerians from speaking or complaining about the reality of what and how they are feeling since the past eleven months, we are afraid that such an action may spark a chain of reactions.

“If our President wants to arrest anything for now then he should arrest the incessant spate of herdsmen attacks in Nigeria which has led to the deaths of almost a thousand of innocent Nigerians under his watch.

“He should arrest the dangerous slide in the power sector.he should arrest the slide in the economy.

“We believe at this time and with the current realities that our former president most not be denigrate but honour, because honour must be given to whom it is due.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has made good his threat to deal with those blowing up oil installations in the Niger Delta like Boko Haram terrorists are being dealt as he has dispatched the nation’s service chiefs to the oil-rich region to confront the resurgent militancy and secure the area from economic sabotage and other acts of criminality.
It would be recalled that Buhari had while in China, warned those behind unlawful activities in the region to either desist from any criminal acts and economic sabotage or be ready to be treated like terrorists operating in Nigeria’s North-east.

In line with a presidential directive, a team, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Gabriel Olanisakin, accompanied by the Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas yesterday stormed the headquarters of the Operation Pulo Shield in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Speaking on the inspection tour, Olonisakin pledged the resolve of the Nigerian Armed Forces to deal with pipeline vandals, oil thieves, kidnappers, cultists and sundry crimes in the Niger Delta region, even as the team identified 10 security threats in the region.

The CDS, who was conducted round by Commander of Operation Pulo Shield, Maj-Gen Alani Okunlola, explained that: “The visit followed the strategic directive of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammad Buhari, to deal with identified security threats in the Niger Delta,” adding that the visits was to access the challenges of the troops with a view to addressing them to ensure operational effectiveness in dealing with the threats.

According to him, “I am in Yenagoa on operational visit to Operation Pulo Shield as well as the Boat House vessel we have in Akassa.

“It is such that we can understand the challenges they are facing here and address these challenges to enhance their operational effectiveness and efficiency.”

There is tension in Umudium village in Umumbo community, Ayamelum Local Government Area, over the alleged killing of 45-year old Mr Ekwunife Echim Okolo by Fulani herdsmen in the area.
The traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Simeon Chidubem, who disclosed this ugly incident in his palace at Umumbo, maintained that there is no day a case of attack, molestation of underage children, men, women and sexual abuse by the Fulani herdsmen is not reported in his kingdom.
He noted that the herdsmen who attacked the young man at his farm were roaming round farms without their cattle searching for the villagers to attack, hack or kill with their sophisticated guns and other dangerous weapons.
Igwe Chidubem, who stated that another victim is now receiving treatment at Iyienu Hospital, Nkpor, noted that the case has been reported to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Anaku Police divisional headquarters.
He recalled that the same Fulani herdsmen, in February this year, killed one Mr Nwogbo Okafor at his farm, alongside another unidentified person who was also allegedly killed by the Fulani herdsmen while a lot of others were reported missing.
He said that the community has before now, written, “Save our soul letter” to the Anambra State Commissioner of Police in Awka, bringing to his notice the wanton attack, hacking and killing of people of the community as well as the deliberate destruction of their farm produce such as rice, cassava, yam, okuru and maize by the Fulani herdsmen in the area.
The traditional ruler who said that the community would always toe the path of peace, appealed to the police and other security agencies in the state to urgently come to the aid of the community and rescue them from the menace of the Fulani herdsmen. He commended the effort of the police and the Department of State Security at Anaku since the incident started in the area.
Governor Willie Obiano, worried over the situation, had called on the security agencies in the state to protect the innocent farmers, appealing to herdsmen through the Hausa Community in the state to live cordially with their hosts.

What is the point reporting to commissioner and willie
Anambrarians , you had better not allow those bastards take over your land. If the president has refused to address this issue , what do you think the police will do . There is just life and death.spare not the vagabonds because their plans are well orchestrated and if the president continues to remain silent on this then I bet he will make history because the fulani crisis could shred nigeria to pieces if care is not taken.

This is same thing that oyibo will do in their own country. Allow fayose and if China wants to lend buhari the money , its ok.Dont condemn fayose? This is democracy .its up to chinese government to investigate the issues raised and take a stand .But am sure buhari does not undetstand the world politics and who Chinese really are.that loan could mortgage nigeria forever and if agitations for disntegration grows, who will repay chinese loan.china can never give you loan without using their best brains to analyse it.buhari travelled to seek loan without a finance minister and a sound economic team.buhari if you listen more you will be fulfilled when you finish your work on earth but if you continue with  this your dictatorship style you will break record as the worst president in the history of nigeria and disgrace could be your portion. Pat utomi, soludo, barth nnaji are people I know could help uplift your government. The clock is ticking fast and the polls conducted are scoring you so low.i may not be surprised if you score zero percent soon.i pray you listen more in your own interest and that of nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Social Media Escalating War Between Herdsmen & Farmers In Nigeria - Dambazau by ngoziama: 10:00am On Apr 15, 2016
Emmalez:
Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, today blamed the increasing rate in herdsmen and farmers clash in Nigeria, on conflicting reports on social media. Dambazzau said this while speaking during an inaugural meeting for stakeholders on the conflict in Abuja today April 14.

“The rise of the social media has given scope to the non-traditional media outlets which has seen interest groups frame stories surrounding the conflict in ways that tend to undermine the cooperate existence of Nigeria” he said.

He added that the crisis poses a threat to the unity of Nigeria and so must be addressed urgently.

Reportmusic:
President Buhari has assured parents and relations of the kidnapped Chibok girls that he frequently reflects on the ordeal of the captives in the hands of Boko Haram terrorists and shares the pain of their continued absence from home. Buhari said this in a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba. Part of the statement reads;

"On the second anniversary of the kidnap of the girls which is today, President Buhari affirms that, as a parent and leader of the country, he understands the torment, frustration and anxiety of the parents and will not spare any effort to ensure the safe return of the girls. The President continues to believe that with the total commitment of the Federal Government, Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies, and the support of the international community, the girls will be eventually rescued. President Buhari notes that thousands of persons, mostly women and children, who were kidnapped by Boko Haram, have already been rescued and reunited with their families. He shares the hope of the parents that the Chibok girls will ultimately be rescued and reunited with their families as well. The President assures the parents that the Federal Government and security agencies will continue to explore all possible options for the safe return of the girls. President Buhari urges the parents to continue to exercise patience and understanding as the government works diligently to ensure that the girls return home unharmed. The President thanks all Nigerians, religious and civil organizations, and the international community for their continued sympathy, support and prayers for the return of the Chibok girls."

The fear of america is the beginning of wisdom for buhari.the same people you shunned after using them to win the election. Buhari, because America has released live pictures of chibok girls, , you are now sympathising with them. Well, God brought you for a purpose and it is either God uses you to save nigeria or God will disgrace you.

Professor Patrick Utomi, erstwhile Vice Chairman of Keystone Bank

Prof. Pat Utomi, renowned political economist and President of Lagos Business School, has taken a swipe on President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, describing it as being filled with men who lack vision and the political will to salvage the economy of the nation.

Professor Pat Utomi was speaking during the lecture organized by the School of Media and Communications on Tuesday, April 13, 2016 on the theme “Economic Survival in a Period of Dwindling Oil Prices”.

He said men who occupy the political class were lazy and interested in filling their pocket at the detriment of the people they were meant to serve.

He attributed the economic challenges being faced in the country to the visionlessness of the leaders at the helm of affairs, maintaining that rather than being people oriented, their programmes are repressive.

He faulted the developmental policy of the federal government as it is flawed with no clear cut blueprint for national development and growth.

According to him, “Nigeria a lazy political class that is not visionary enough to see the need to reposition the country in the right policies that will shore up growth and stability in our economy without the sense of playing selfish and dancing to personal gains and self-aggrandizement”.

He said corruption has created a custom of people with money without the thought or foresight to create jobs for its citizens, even as he insisted that the government of the day is more responsible for the rot in the country’s economy than moving it forward.

He also said the policies of the Nigerian government tend more to aborting national progress than enhancing the overall development of the entire country

I never said petrol will sell for N40 per litre under Buhari – David-West
By Sylvester Ugwuanyi on April 11, 2016

David-West1
A former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Prof Tam David-West who served when Muhammadu Buhari was the Head of State, has denied saying that President Buhari will crash the price of petrol to N40 per litre, regretting that he must have been misquoted.

This was as he stressed that it was shameful that Nigeria is still involved in importation of petroleum products despite having four refineries capable of meeting the energy needs of the country. He insisted that there is nothing wrong with the nation’s refineries.

The Professor of Virology who spoke to Daily Sun in a telephone interview at the weekend, clarified that he only canvassed the removal of some 14 items currently listed in the petrol pricing template as that which would help crash petrol price to N40.

All dis nothern senators is not thier fault. If not for d stupidity of my Niger Delta brothers who are so fixated on Hating Buhari due to Instigation by the Igbos as a result of Jonathan loss, this senators wont be bold enough to openly admit adding more money to Kano rail at the expence of Calabar rail. When in d same speech, the same senator is telling us they have d power to add and remove any item from d budget.

If they can add and remove any item from d budget as they claim, why is it Niger Delta project that they are removing due to flimsy excuse that it was not on d original document despite d fact that it was presented to them in d senate as an addedum.

The greatest traitors to d Niger Delta right now are those fools, and extreme bitter people who are ready to kill d development of Niger Delta just because they hate Buhari 4 cheap political point.

The truth is dat Buhari got nothing to lose. He is a 72year old man who has been Governor, Minister, millitary head of state and today democratically elected president. He is already a great achiever.

We Niger Delta people are being foolish and myopic. We must protest against NASS.

We must not give away what belong to us just because Jonathan lost election. Niger Delta is bigger than Jonathan loss. We must move on and stop harming ourselves. Jonathan is a Beneficiary of Niger Delta Struggle. He was never part of d struggle. We must not destroy our region just because of a benefiary who never contributed much to our region when he got d opportunity.

We are just being stupid and foolish.

According to Peter Obi former Governor of Anambra state, Igbo are d cause of thier maginalisation because they dont know how to negotiate politically when others (North and South west) are negotiating for thier people.

My Niger delta brothers, please we must not end up like them. We should be wiser.

The Lagos Calabar rail is just named Lagos Calabar . The Rail actually goes from Lagos to Calabar to Aba to PortHarcourt to Ughelli to Sapele to Benin and to Ore to Ibadan and back to lagos. It is South west, South South and South East rail. The rail is expected to also link Onitcha and Asaba and Warri.

We claim we are more educated than the North. We brag with our worthless PhDs. Notherners with ordinary primary Six certificates are dribbling our PhD senators like Lionel Messi.
Can't you make your point without insulting the igbos.so jonathan is now more igbo than niger deltan.Honestly, the earlier you all come out of this euphoria on nairaland that igbos are this and that the better for nigeria.i blame igbos for ever aligning with the same people that betrayed them.niger delta carry your cross and stop insulting ndi igbo.enough of all these partisan politics.nonsense.if you are niger deltan deal with your rail issue and leave ndi igbo alone .whether it is passing through aba or abia it is not my business.sort your region out and stop instigating others against the igbos.imagine this human being believing we are crying more than them over gejs loss.rubbish.if you like sell out your own it is your business.rail line what of water line.mtchewww.more projects will be taken away from your region.maritime university I think is gone, scholarship scheme gone and soon you shall all be gone while we ndi igbo watch the PhD holders abi ogogoro holders.
