PoliticsRe: Olisa Metuh And Yerima The Bail Differences - Just Check This. by ngoziama: 5:36pm On Jan 23, 2016
DropShot:
Shame!

Is there anything to be proud about, or to fight over, in the two cases? Only shameless people will do that.

Facts:
1. Both are criminal suspects
2. Different corruption agencies are handling their case.
3. Different judges are involved.
4. Different details, different circumstances, and different disposition in bith cases.

Uncooperative attitude of Metuh, displaying of impunity towards law enforcers, plus his diarrhea mouth have meant that he is jointly a scape goat alongside Dasuki in the fight against corruption.
If he has diarrhoea mouth then yours is not only dysentery mouth but lassa fevered mouth.
Was the same harsh treatment meted out on metuh same with yerima.
I have said it, the degeneration of nigeria has led to defence of yours, ,his and hers.
Simply because he spoke against government excesses, that is just his sin.olisa can never be cowed take it or leave it.the federal government is imposing almost a billion bail on him because he opposed them as pdp spokesperson and because he is ibo.
Dont tell me different judges and all that crap. There should be a laid down policy and rules for offences or was he own judge imported from hell fire or sambisa forest.
After, some people will open their mouths to insult ibos whom they are all scared to let go.And I can tell you that if ibos leave, nigeria will become a shadow of herself.I dare nigeria to try it and see if she will not bleed.
Honestly, the discrimination is painful.I recently read that dambazzau ordered olisa to be handcuffed but I want to say that only the blind may not be able to see dambazzau who could even be nursing an ambition higher than his present portfolio.History has it that people close to government are the ones that topple such. The family naturally has arrogance running in them so I am not surprised at the way he is lording over issues including using a dss as a shoeshiner.I still remember how he insulted jonathan but I want to tell Almighty God that if HE sees nigeria as a country where justice and equity thrive, Lord bind us together otherwise God shred her to pieces.
Since the grave does not discriminate and accepts every colour, race, creed and tribe; the poor and rich,it means we are all equal. Therefore,it is enough reason to tell us that seeing every tribe as important part and parcel of nigeria is highly crucial.

henryanna36:
Last week, one of Nigeria's biggest fast food joints tweeted an ad on their official twitter page; "Why eat your words when you can eat our meals" and "Special delivery for Olisa" with an EFCC logo on the ad, which is in reference to reports that PDP Spokesman Olisa Metuh allegedly ate or tried to eat a document containing statements he made to the EFCC.This was allegedly done by Olisa Metuh so that the document  won't be used as evidence against him in court. However,Olisa Metuh denied he did anything like that.Despite this, Chicken Republic continued to use the controversy as a publicity stunt for their brand.

Nigerians have taken to Twitter to react, blasting Chicken Republic for their choice of ads.See how Nigerians reacted on twitter above

Chicken Republic I never knew you still existed. The last time I visted that trash hole, I met a sad looking security guy at the door, very scanty Republic and I advised myself that I could be buying stale food because it looked like they haven't had customers around that particular trash hole for months.
Chicken republic if you can vouch that you dont inflate prices of stale foods you serve to government agencies at functions then let's see that.you threw caution to the wind to dabble into politics and this shows how you desperately need customers because you are fast losing them.

Why do igbos and SS find it easy to sympathize with corrupt politicianshuh Many of those poverty stricken PDP followers who cant even afford a sausage roll are bragging about boycotting chicken Republic for making an advert concerning Thief metuh grin While they applauded AIT for making partisan documentaries about Buhari and Tinubu during the 2015 elections undecidedThey claim Nnamdi Kanu is free to express his views by abusing Buhari and other Nigerians but are quick to criticize Chicken Republic for expressing their own views concerning Metuh. Talk of cheer hypocrisy :-/ Hopeless lpo-Baboons angry
If ibos are hopeless ipo- baboons then your tribe comprises hopeless and idiotic monkeys/chimpanzees.
Ahh every comment by even fictitous names represent ibo. What has ibo done.leave the tribe. Every tribe is free to defend his or hers.
If you talk about adverts on ait that is their business but remember how goodluck was insulted even called useless and hopeless by el rufai whom yaradua sent away and the same clueless gej brought him back.
Even as pdp spokesperson olisa showed more maturity than the aged lye mohammed.
Imagine referring to an entire tribe as hopeless baboons.everyday you insult ibos, I dont blame you because ibos are just too important to be ignored. Ibos rock despite the hate, killing, intimidation, oppression and victimisation.
Finally who God has blessed no human being no matter your rank can stop it.God has blessed ndi ibo so take it or leave it.

PoliticsRe: John Kerry Carries Buhari’s Anti-corruption Campaign To Davos by ngoziama: 8:17pm On Jan 22, 2016
LocalChamp:
Published on January 22, 2016 by
United State Secretary of State, John Kerry has given President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign drive a larger reach at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Kerry in his speech at the forum, he made reference to Buhari’s fight against corruption in Nigeria and how individuals pocketed money meant for arms deal.
“It has been reported that over 50 people including government officials stole over $9billion in Nigeria.
He added that money that was meant for arms to fight Islamist sect, Boko Haram, was pocketed by generals in the most populous black nation in the world.

“Corruption costs global economy more than a trillion dollars a year and complicates every security, diplomatic, social priority,” he said.
“In far too many countries, plain rank corruption has generated such powerful headwinds that local economies just tread water. Today, corruption has grown at an alarming pace and threatens global growth, global stability, indeed the global future.”
“There is absolutely nothing more demoralizing, disempowering to any citizen than the belief the system is rigged against them. Corruption is a radicalizer because it destroys faith in legitimate authority.”
He noted that about three trillion is lost to corruption a year.

http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2016/01/22/john-kerry-carries-buharis-anti-corruption-campaign-to-davos/
Kerrry nigerians maybe corrupt but America too has corrupt people.you remember the stock fraud.kerry am not surprised because people don't get true justice in the wonder land called America. Kerry I detest corruption but you dont fight corruption by clamping down on only the opposition thereby putting fear in the masses, oppressing and intimidating them, putting handcuff on accused who is yet to be proved guilty whereas boko haram terrorists come to court with hands in pockets
Kerry tell the president to probe the haliburton case, lamorde who converted assets recovered from looters to personal properties and stole money up to the tune of trillion.he also has access to documents that could implicate apc chieftains.kerry be more objective on this issue.i am of the opinion that corrupt leaders must be punished but all corrupt leaders in the ruling party have been declared saints.kerry is that how to fight corruption?
In nigeria kerry a birthday party was hosted for just an individual minus his birthday package for over 82 million , only God knows what they ate.an individual designed a website for over 72 million and all of them are saints and have been made ministers. Kerry speak against corruption and at the same advise them on following due process and obeying court orders.#SAY NO TO CORRUPTION#

PoliticsRe: Buhari Has Turned Governance To Nollywood —fayose by ngoziama: 1:26am On Jan 21, 2016
alcmene:
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has challenged the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed to make public names of the 15 former governors and 55 Nigerians that he claimed stole N1.34 trillion between 2006 and 2013 or keep his mouth shut permanently.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said “The reality is that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Federal Government has destroyed the economy within eight months in power and rather than look for solutions to the problems facing Nigeria, Lai Mohammed and his cohorts are branding bogus figures about stolen money just to cover up their lack of solution to the country’s economic problems.”

The governor, who also described as disgraceful, bringing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh to court in handcuff, said; “Even the masterminds of Mandala and Nyanya bomb blasts, Kabiru Sokoto and Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche were not handcuffed when they were arraigned in court.”

Fayose said it was funny that close to one year after it won the presidential election, the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC federal government was still operating as if it was campaigning for votes.

The governor said: “They are turning governance to Nollywood, such that when one movie is about to end, they release another one. As it appears that the $2.1 billion arms deal movie is getting to an end, Lai Mohammed introduced another movie titled N1.34 trillion loot.

“Unfortunately for them this time around, Nigerians have become tired of watching the Federal Government movies, they now want reality. Nigerians are now aware of the scam in the $2.1 billion arms deal movie having seen that the amount those already charged to court were charged with is not more than N10 billion and $2.1 billion is over N600 billion.

“Therefore, Lai Mohammed must either tell Nigerians details of the 15 former governors and 55 people that he claimed stole N1.34 trillion, where the stolen money is kept and bring back the money or apologise to Nigerians for lying.”

While describing the persistent claim by the federal government that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) destroyed Nigeria for 16 years as hypocritical, Governor Fayose said Nigerians must begin to ask which party majority of those presently ruling the country under the APC government were between 1999 and 2014.

“Majority of those who ran the Federal Government between 1999 and 2003 under the PDP are in the APC government today. President, vice president, ministers, governors, senators and House of Reps members who were part of the PDP government are now in APC. Yet, APC keeps telling Nigerians that PDP ruined the country. This hypocrisy must stop,” he said.

The governor, who insisted that due process of the law must be followed in fighting corruption, noted that disobedience to court
orders itself is a criminal offence that is more grievous than corruption.

He said no amount of harassment and intimidation will silence opposition in the country, saying President Buhari and his men should
rather get used to the reality that opposition must exist in a democracy.

DEMOCRACY WITHOUT OPPOSITION IS WORSE THAN A MILITARY RULE
PoliticsRe: Metuh In Handcuffs Is Normal, Lesser Criminals Get Worse Treatment – Oshiomhole by ngoziama: 1:19am On Jan 21, 2016
emamos:
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on Wednesday said the handcuffing of Mr. Olisa Metuh, Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was no big deal.
Speaking during a meeting with the new Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, led by Sir Roland Osakwe in Benin City, the governor wondered why the scenario has generated so much noise.
Oshiomhole said: “I saw some headlines querying why Metuh should be in handcuffs. If people who steal he-goats, dried grass cutters are in handcuffs, I have been to the Police Station several times and I see young men who rob not more than N500,000 naira in handcuffs, they are paraded and made to sit on the floor. Why should certain set of criminals be treated as if they are not suspected criminals and serious crimes at that?
“When you all reported lavishly how under the former President, the former Defence Chief set up a Military Tribunal to try soldiers who ran away from battle field and they were condemned to death, it was only Femi Falana who was consistent in fighting their case.
“Those are Nigerians who were to be killed for running away because they couldn’t confront a Boko Haram that was well armed while they were asked to go and fight with their bare hands and we were told that weapons, ammunition and everything had been provided.
“When Borno Governor said, ‘look, our Armed Forces are fighting with bare hands’, he was told to shut up. Now it is clear from current revelations that the money that would have been used to arm these young men who joined the army with pride and who on a good day have the courage to fight not only at home but abroad, but because they didn’t have arms, they ran away. They were sentenced to death.
“Thanks to Buhari, some have been commuted now to various terms of imprisonment which I applaud and I think even that one should further be reviewed, they should submit their uniform but remain free people.
“Now, those who shared that money, this is not the usual security money, this is special appropriation to fight Boko Haram, $2.1 billion, people just shared it, everybody was using their son, co-opting young children into this while other people’s children were sentenced to death.
“And anybody who partakes in that and they put him in handcuffs, they say, why should he be in handcuffs because he is an elite and the media will report it without also showing us pictures of some Nigerians whose fathers are not known, but are not less Nigerian than any of us, who are always not only in handcuffs but are put on the floor in various police stations and paraded even before they are charged to court and we all look at them and turn to the next pictures, it doesn’t attract a commentary.
“Why should some criminals just be celebrated even when we all can feel the amount of damage, the consequences of their rascality on our collective wellbeing? I think the media should support the President. This is not President Buhari’s fight, and you know he had reminded us that if we don’t kill corruption, it will kill us. Now corruption is fighting back.
“I read one article and I was shocked with the ease at which he attempted to turn logic upside down. He said that Chief Anthony Anenih has shown how he shared the money he got from the National Security Adviser that was paid to his bank account unlike other people, he didn’t deny it. Can you deny what they pay to your bank account? If he carried it the way they usually carried money in bullion van, he would have denied it but this time, the policeman in him failed him and the money was paid into his account so he was not at liberty to deny what was documented in a banking transaction.

PoliticsRe: Why We Handcuffed Metuh − NPS by ngoziama: 1:11am On Jan 21, 2016
gateleo:
The Nigeria Prisons Service has said that putting handcuffs on the National Publicity Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh while appearing for his trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday was at the discretion of the prison officer, who supervised his court appearance.

The NPS spokesman, Francis Enobore, said the officer in charge of the escort that took Metuh to court was at liberty to determine if the inmate should be handcuffed based on security situation, the environment and intelligence report made available to him.

Enobore made the clarification following comments in the media and by PDP, that putting handcuffs on Metuh is a plot by the All Progressives congress -led to subdue the major opposition party.

Enobore, in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents, stated that Metuh was not maltreated in any way, stressing that handcuffing an inmate was a standard procedure, which the prison warden could employ based on the situation at hand.

He said, “Handcuffing an inmate is at the discretion of the officer in-charge, depending on the security situation, the environment and intelligence report available to the officer. Sometimes they look at the atmosphere and take the necessary decision.

“If you suspect that the atmosphere, security-wise, may not be conducive to the inmates in your custody, you can use handcuffs; to avoid a situation where you have to start telling stories, you use your discretion to study the environment and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the inmates in your custody.

“Remember that we not only try to secure the inmate from escaping, we equally provide protection for the inmate. The officer in-charge must ensure that the life of the inmate is not jeopardised. It is the officer in-charge of the escort that studies the security environment and takes the decision to use handcuffs.”

Asked if there was intelligence that Metuh might escape or was in danger of being harmed, Enobore said he did not know because he was not at the scene.

He dismissed suggestions that the PDP spokesman was handcuffed to please the Presidency, saying there was no political consideration in the treatment of inmates by the prisons service.

Justice Abang had, on January 15, ordered the accused person to be remanded in Kuje Prison shortly after his arraignment on seven counts of money laundering preferred against him by the EFCC.

The EFCC alleged in the charges that Metuh, who was arraigned along with a firm, Destra Investments Ltd, received N400m, part of the money meant for the procurement of arms, from the Office of the National Security Adviser in November 2014.

The EFCC alleged in the case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/05/2016, that Metuh and Destra, through their account with Diamond Bank Plc, collected the sum of N400m from the NSA office on November 22, 2015, for PDP’s campaign activities.

The prosecution also alleged that the N400m was “part of the proceeds of an unlawful activity” of the immediate past NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.).

It alleged that Metuh and Destra transferred the sum of N21.8m to Anenih and they (Metuh and Destra) thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 15(2) (b) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended in 2012) and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act.

The judge ordered on Tuesday that Metuh should not be released from custody until he met the bail conditions.

But in granting him bail on Tuesday, the judge dismissed EFCC’s objection to the application, ruling that the allegation that Metuh destroyed his statement and attempted to influence potential witnesses while in the custody of the anti-graft agency, was not substantiated.

Justice Abang added, “The truth of this allegation has not been established. The prosecution said that he, the first defendant, if granted bail, will try to influence potential witnesses.

“In my humble view, this is speculative. The court of law cannot act on speculation.

“The alleged conduct of the first defendant while in custody of the EFCC cannot be used as a factor or taken into consideration in refusing the bail to the first defendant.”

He said the offences that Metuh was accused of were bailable and that the accused still enjoyed constitutional right to being presumed innocent until proved guilty.

Metuh was arrested by the EFCC on January 5 and remained in the custody of the anti-graft agency till when he was arraigned on January 15.

The judge however dismissed the second prayer contained in Metuh’s bail application seeking an order restraining the EFCC from re-arresting him after being granted bail.

Metuh’s separate fundamental human rights enforcement suit is scheduled to come up for hearing before Justice Abang on Wednesday (today).

Who is this one,
Ohamadike is all we want, the man is fearless and has the interest of the Igbos at heart
When ibos speak for victor umeh, I marvel.
Tell me what victor umeh has done for anambra state or let me say the youths if not enriching his pockets.
Was it not the same victor umeh who felt he was losing out of favour with good luck and challenged buhari's certificate In court.he did it alongside with one ibo politician who is hardly lettered. Victor umeh would have been insulting buhari if Jonathan had won.
Buhari should beam his corruption search light on victor umeh, he needs to tell nigerians how much he made from anambra state, how much he earned as salary from anambra purse.
Victor umeh I can tell you is selfish and he is greedy. Victor umeh should tell us how much he collected from apga guber candidates and went on to conduct shabby elections.the worst thing that can happen to anambra central is to allow victor umeh , a known schemer, diabolical and greedy man who destroyed apga out of selfish reasons to represent them.
Victor umeh recently said buharis fight against corruption is not selective.Buhari please ask Efcc to investigate victor umeh the same man that challenged your academic qualification in court. He is not different from a chameleon nor a political prostitute.
Ekwunife goofed by switching suddenly but I can tell anambra central that she is a better candidate than the red cap thief who collected millions if not billions from apga guber candidates all over nigeria before giving them tickets.Umeh deny this and let the wrath of God visit you before that senatorial elections.
Victor Umeh , I pray buhari sues you for damage since you had already rubbished his name .Tell us why you withdrew the case against buhari if you are fearless like they said. All of a sudden you have started praising the same man you challenged in court to produce his waec certificate.
Politicians in nigeria despite their stolen wealth are all hungry, always leaking even poopo to survive.
Well, let the game begin, pdp bring forward a sound and intelligent guy who is not tainted with corruption, has integrity and is ready to work.As for me, I had rather vote sharon than vote victor umeh if pdp goofs over its candidate.
Victor umeh cannot lead ndi igbo, if he helped to reduce apga for selfish purpose then is it anambra he will not sell.infact, if umeh ever gets to that senate, ,saraki and ekweremadu should be careful because umeh is too desperate.he has fed big on anambra state and wants to relax in the senate and see if he can get vice president or senate president. Umeh can even abandon apga to join apc.
Umeh tell us how you have empowered youths in anambra if not your pockets.
I await insults and defence from his e-agents but I know that having said the truth it shall set us free from the shackles of politicians who have been enriched from state and federal money.
GOD bless anambra state.

This lassa fever thing looks like scam to me.. No pictures, no evidence! Just thinking
Its no scam.i have been in touch with some doctor friends and they have told me to put them in prayers because the disease is here for real and the protective measures are not even anything to write home about .
This is what you get when a government looks more at suppressing every voice of opposition.it derails even faster than a derailing train.

Apc fighting corruption while lassa fever is killing nigerians. What a cabinet we have
Prof adewole should resign immediately.he has no clue and got no roadmap to tackle this because he is blaming gej.Prof adewole we have 36 states and if lassa fevet has hit more than fifteen states and is still spreading please resign. However,my worry is that the president does not even understand the implications of this disease or should corruption be added to lassa fever to make this administration fight it.Oh Nigeria I pity her
