CultureRe: Where Is Oduduwa Really From? by nguage(m): 10:35pm On Jun 17, 2009
How are we sure Oduduwa isn't like the Columbus of Yorubaland? What I am trying to say is that it is very possible that people already lived in that particular part before Oduduwa came from Ethiopia, Saudi-Arabia or wherever he came from. There has to be a reason he is regarded as the "father/founder," but what is that reason?
Was he the first to unite the people?
Was he the first King when the people decided to choose one?
Did he come from a "more developed" culture and thus was able to influence a lot of things in Yorubaland?

Considerate in what way??
It's less hurtful to say "I'm already with someone," than to say "NO." If a guy says a straight no, the girl would think she's not good enough, it may affect her self-esteem.

Is your friend talking about me?
I just turned down a girl and she thinks I'm lying that I'm already seeing someone but I'm not.

Anyway, I don't think it is spineless or pathetic. I actually think whoever does that is very considerate.
RomanceRe: Should I Be Worried If It's Not Me? by nguage(m): 5:20am On Jun 15, 2009
I didn't read through, so forgive me if someone said this already. It's possible he's trying to get you by bringing down your self-esteem first.

Also, guys are not the same, there's no formula to explain how guys behave.
RomanceRe: I Want To Die by nguage(m): 9:19pm On Jun 13, 2009
Feeling good comes from being good and cutting down your desires. Being good comes from genuinely loving everyone around you. Cutting down desires come from realizing that everything we process on this earth is vanity.

Genuine love for everyone is a hard thing to do because many times we see others as rivals. It will be hard to teach love to you but try to love.

The things you wish you had are nothing - boyfriends, shoes, clothes, "beautiful skin," - they all have no bearing on how happy you are. Those who have this things still feel sad, maybe even sadder than you feel.  Desires lead to worries. The more you worry, the more stagnant you are.

The only thing that matters is your soul/spirit, strive to have a beautiful spirit by loving everyone (the bible would say out of the fruits of the spirit, love is the most important).

Peace, Love and Harmony.
RomanceRe: Why Do matured Ladys Romance Kids Of 2-5yrs, by nguage(m): 7:09pm On Jun 13, 2009
^^^
I think what he means by "good erections" isn't the same thing you mean. He is saying even when fully erect, a boy of 4 can't be big enough to satisfy a lady sexually. No fights if we just take that extra time to understand each other, you don't need to suggest he had erectile "dysfunction as a kid."

@ topic: These things never happened to me but it happened to one of my friends, he laughs about it everytime. The fact is that even while it may be disturbing, it shouldn't be used as an excuse. Many people blame their problems on how they were abused as a child, I think it's not right.
CultureRe: Time For Jamaican Proverbs by nguage(m): 6:37pm On Jun 13, 2009
Wha gone bad a mornin', cyant come good a evening.
Meaning: Foundation is important, a bad child won't grow up to be a good child.

Crab walk too much, lose him claw.

Fire dey a mus mus tail, him think of cool breeze.
meaning: There's fire on the mouse' tail, it thinks it's cool breeze. Used to describe someone who's clueless.

Sorry fe maga dog, maga dog turn around bite you.
meaning: when you help a scoundrel, he will still do bad things to you later.
SportsRe: Newcastle Dumps Obafemi ! by nguage(m): 9:08pm On Jun 10, 2009
Really, there's nothing to argue about here, Whether Obafemi is good or bad is a very subjective thing. If you say some people were better than Obafemi a while back, it doesn't mean they are still better than him. No arguments here, just wait and see for yourself.

You ever heard this joke?

A man has lost his job and his girlfriend just left him. He decides to go to the beach and relax. God comes to him, and says; "My son, I see that you are down on your luck, I will grant you one wish."

The man says; "I need a vacation, but cannot afford it, could you build a bridge from here to Sacramento?"

God says; "That would take a lot of effort, and time, do you have another wish?"

The man says; "Well, can you help me understand women?"

God says; "So two or four lanes?"

Am I the only one who likes Martins? IMO, he is still Nigeria's best striker when he's on form and in the right team. He is fast, his leap is phenomenal, his left foot is dangerous and he knows what to do with the ball, even before receiving it.

How are you going to judge him based on the Mozambique game? Any striker would play awful with the current Eagles, Eneramo against Kenya, Akpala against France?

I think he will rise again and you will all see. Also, he had an injury last season and the medical staffs at Newcastle couldn't figure out it was hernia, they kept treating it as a regular groin injury. If I was a coach, I'd love to have Martins in my team.

Gift-giving and receiving are becoming complex acts where we need to think ahead like chess, signs that we need to do better. Every single one of us.
CultureRe: Yorubas In Nigeria That Can't Speak Yoruba by nguage(m): 4:47am On Jun 02, 2009
While growing up in Nigeria, I met several families who made it a goal to make sure their wards didn't understand a lick of Yoruba. Some of them even tried to convince my parents to make English the first language in our house, my dad wasn't having of that crap.

Anyway, surprise surprise! I speak English and Yoruba better than many of those kids now. Even if my Yoruba isn't as good as I want it to be.
