Goodday90:Yet Ibadan is not older than many towns in Nigeria. |
The British colonial rule in Nigeria, which lasted from the late 19th century until 1960, had a significant impact on the country's social and political landscape. While it would be an oversimplification to attribute all of Nigeria's problems to British influence, there are certain ways in which colonial policies contributed to divisions among Nigerians. Here are a few key factors: 1. Administrative divisions: The British introduced the concept of indirect rule, which relied on traditional rulers to govern on their behalf. This approach often favored certain ethnic and religious groups, leading to power imbalances and marginalization of others. It created disparities in resource allocation and reinforced divisions among ethnic groups. 2. Arbitrary borders: During the Scramble for Africa, European powers drew territorial boundaries without considering pre-existing ethnic, linguistic, and cultural groupings. Nigeria's current borders do not fully align with historical divisions, leading to potential conflicts over resources, identity, and political representation. 3. Divide and rule tactics: The British exploited existing differences among ethnic and religious groups to maintain control. They favored certain groups and granted them preferential treatment, leading to tensions and rivalries among Nigerians. 4. Diverse legal and educational systems: The colonial administration implemented different legal and educational systems, often along religious and ethnic lines. This further deepened divisions, fostering a sense of separate identities and interests. While the British undoubtedly played a role in sowing seeds of discord, it is important to note that Nigeria's challenges extend beyond colonial legacy, including factors such as governance issues, economic inequalities, and competition for resources. Building a united and cohesive Nigeria requires addressing and reconciling these various factors. |
Lord Lugard, a British colonial administrator and the first Governor-General of Nigeria, held specific views about the Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa ethnic groups during the colonial period. His views were shaped by the racial ideologies predominant in the early 20th century and the challenges he faced in governing Nigeria. In his writings and policies, Lugard regarded the Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa as distinct ethnic groups with different characteristics. He believed that the Igbo and Yoruba were more receptive to Western education, Christianity, and economic development compared to the Hausa-Fulani. Lugard's favoritism towards the Igbo and Yoruba stemmed from his perception of their "progressive" nature, while he viewed the Hausa-Fulani as conservative and resistant to change. He believed that the Igbo and Yoruba were better equipped to embrace modernity and participate in governance, trade, and education. However, it is important to note that Lugard's views were influenced by his role as a colonial administrator, tasked with maintaining control over the diverse regions of Nigeria. His goal was to govern effectively by understanding and utilizing the existing social and cultural structures, and he believed that recognizing the differences between these groups was necessary for colonial rule. Overall, Lugard's views on the Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa were shaped by racial stereotypes and the need to administer a diverse and complex country during the colonial era. |
IconicR:The Sam party where 90% of u are seriously begging for survival. |
Ayo2004:I can send u Brekete contact. Pls be respectful when calling. 09099887700. Good luck. |
Ayo2004:The laws recognises traditional marriage and don't let anyone fool u. Go to court and file a case and see how the woman will rush out to plead.
|
concho:U will certainly win. If u have the evidence of the beating that alone nails the case, however it is,I was a banker. U will surely win this case. |
This would be a good news honestly. |
guidelight:Then, the former Governor of Zamfara state has just WAEC and he has been appointed a minister in this administration. Secondly, the former minster of communication in Buhari's administration had just a degree in law in the person of Adebayo shittu without NYSC. |
Enice:This case looks exactly like that of Kemi Adeosun. |
ExudeLoveToAll:Thanks my brother. |
90dbest:And to u want to make a point and still remain pointless is shocking. Who are thiese women giving births to fools like u? U want to make a point but u started abuse. How does abusing me solve ur problems? |
IconicR:U can go and enjoy it. |
Darlingme:That is why I keep telling intending couples, that love alone is not enough. For any marriage to work...both the man and woman must play a vital part. |
Darlingme:Let me give u am example. There was a time my younger brothers friend followed me and he was to drop at a junction before mine. In the course of our discussion,he told me he was planning to marry, and me being me,I advised him never to marry a woman that is not doing anything at all because the guy works in place that has great future. I wasn't surprised he told my brother everything which he too advised him further never to try it. Do u know this guy married a liability,I mean a non contributing wife, his income has depleted badly that,he now beg and live basically on loan, just immediately his wife gave birth. If u go to his house,he would be begging u for money because he got it all wrong. There were girls in his level and those above his level In the office but he left there and got hooked with a liability...now his father that depends him can no longer get anything from him anymore and i heard that his father is very angry. What a life. |
I have written about this behavior here on two occasions and I am not in any way surprised at the menace currently being practised by these lazy men. There is always a way to live in this country, during ur 20's,work like ur life depends on it. Save and invest so that, when u start having families,u can be able to sort ur family out. Another thing that is killing most families these days is how some men like marrying liabilities as wives and feel great about it. How can u make it when ur salary is 100k and ur wife isn't doing anything for a living, not even WAEC certificate and u come here to tell us that, the govt is not helping matters even when u have refused to help urself. Joblessness could increase the number of lazy men out there, keep consoling them but there is no food for lazy men. |
On the issue of NYSC,there is no law that says u must have NYSC before u can become governor, senator or what have u,but the major thing we should not do is submitting fake certificates. The court does not joke with forgery no matter who u are, hence the reason why I feel that the current governor of Enugu state is a goner. |
Congrats...that babalawo must rest now. |
Canada is looking to take in Carpenters and plumbers...now is ur opportunity. Age or study will not affect this offer. |

Listen to me: stop asking your Rich friends to buy you alcohol, stop accompanying them to expensive places because you don't understand what you are doing there except that you getting good treats, stop asking them for money, stop being their puppet if it doesn't serve you any purpose nor enriching you.Leave your Rich friends company if you are not getting anything positive out of it. Now you need to have a deep self introspection, you need to get something very important from your Rich friends. That is not money because they can give you 100K and you will blow it, they can give you a Million you will still blow it, they can give you all the money you want and you will still blow it and will remain poor.Remember it's not money that makes you wealthy but it's Financial Education. That is all you need from your Rich friends. That is all you need to get Rich yourself.Ask your Rich friends how to make 1K, how to keep it and how to increase it.Trust me rich people are more than happy to share Financial Knowledge more than sharing their money.Normalise asking your Rich friends for information more than money, Rich people only give their money if they are getting something out of it.Information is free they can share it freely. But to you that information is not free it's what you going to use to get Rich.Ask your Rich friends to be your mentors so you can be like them. Copy what they do. Hustler inspiration. |
IconicR:To think that u are woman doesn't surprise me...but I wonder how u guys support criminals because of tribe and hates. |
helinues:If u are the one bringing in goods like them, would u sell on loss or u will sell to make profit? That is the reality on ground and the exchange rate is the driver to this increment. Before u come for my head, let me pre-empt u by saying that I am not an oil marketer nor any of my family members but as a business man, that is what Tinubu caused by allowing the free flow of dollar in the country's economy. |
Candidlady:Bad mouth. Women of these days... |
Nefort:It depends on where u are? Me and my friends here are not talking about japa and why should i japa...when I earn good money here. |
During economy hardship like this, sexual urge goes off through the roof. As far as u are in Nigeria it looks normal honestly. |
englishmart:All these na villages now. |
Some people have already been to heaven while on earth. U see Nigerian churches,I am sure they must have sent many people to hell. This is how church should be. |
okoroemeka:As an igbo my brother,I totally agree with 110%. |
