obiekunie2: the problem with this kind of risk is - they will go to prison and serve their term, then come back for you with full force!
some will even stay inside prison and arrange other robbers to come for you.
its a lose - lose thing. not worth the risk.
the way sure way is to make sure the robbers are killed at the scene - but once they enter police, OYO is your case! I have even advised the guy to pack away from the area |
Christianity Etc › El-rufai Has His Way, As Kaduna State Assembly Passes Law Against Preaching by nickxtra(op): 11:20am On Jun 09, 2019 |
Kaduna State House of Assembly on Friday passed the controversial Religious Preaching Regulation Law 1984. The passage of the law by the lawmakers came few minutes before the fifth assembly was dissolved by the Speaker of the House Aminu Abdullahi Shagali. Presiding over the plenary, Speaker, Aminu Abdullahi Shagali, while reading the bill, said a state inter-faith regulatory council has been established with a chairman to be appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of the Secretary to the state Government. He also said two members representing the Christian and Muslim faith are to be appointed by the Governor among others respectively. He mentioned that the bill when signed into law stipulates that in each of the 23 local Government areas of the state, a committee to be known as the Local Government Inter-faith Committee has to be established The bill states that any person who plays religious cassette or uses a loud speaker for religious purposes between the hours of 11pm and 4am in a public place, and uses a loudspeaker for religious purposes other than inside a church or mosque commits an offence and shall on conviction be liable to imprisonment for a term of not less than two years or pay a fine of less than N200,000 or both. The bill adds that any person who publicly insults or seeks to incite, contempt any religion, by making false statement in such a manner as to be likely to lead to a breach of peace, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of not less than five years, a fine of not less than N100,000 or both The passage of the bill into law came three years after the bill faced serious setback from different religious bodies and individuals in the state. Crime › Heroics: Husband Disarmed An Armed Robber, While His Gang Members Flee In Abuja by nickxtra(op): 9:47pm On Jun 08, 2019 |
It was a morning of no return for one Idemudia in Mpape community, in Abuja.
Today, Saturday's morning, while a house wife, a food vendor woke up at her usual times around 5am to prepare food that she would be going out to sell for day, little did she know that danger was ahead. Some bad boys have been observing and monitoring her anytime she comes out of the fenceless building to prepare food for sale.
As soon as she got out of their house to prepare fire on this fateful day, a gang of three boys, one with a stainless pistle (gun) approached her, slapped her and matched her into thier room where the husband was preparing to go to work too, while thier 2 years old baby laid on his bed.
In what appeared like a film, the gun wielding member of the gang led the woman into thier room, while the other two guys took varying strategic positions outside.
On getting to the room soon and sighting the husband, the gun man slapped the husband and ordered him to surrender all their mobile phones, money, laptops and other personal items. The man obeyed and brought out his phone and other stuffs, he then pretended that he was looking for where he kept his money. In the guise of checking a corner of the room to get the money he had kept there, and satisfied that he was close to the gun man enough and in a good position bro wrestle him, he immediately and boldly jumped at the gun man in an attempt to collect the gun and both of them fell to the ground, struggling for the gun and he succeeded in collecting the gun from guy, although not without injuries to both of them. As they were struggling with each other, the panicking wife of man's started shouting '...thieves, thieves... neighbours come o, my husband has collected his gun o" and some persons were started trooping out, which made the other two members of the gang to flee. The woman's husband succeeded in pinning the gun man to the ground, after disarming him and by this time, neighbours who knew that the other members of the gang had taken o thier heels were already coming out. They now joined the courageous man to hold onto the disarmed man and the police were called, who wasted no time in arriving at the scene and whisked the gun man away to thier station.
At the police station, encomium was poured on the heroic of the man, while the gun man is already being interrogated at the Mpape police Station, as the Police is extracting useful information from him.
Help me to give Kudos to the husband and wife for thier courage and heroics.

obc: Kindly, help a soul before late.
My Story:
I paid a guy 3.2million since 2017 to supply me Zinc Ore but he defaulted . I have since reported the matter to his father, village king, and town union president, yet no result. I visited his house sometime last year and after much noise, he signed an agreement before his lawyer and my own lawyer to pay effective April last year, but reneged again.
His village king as well as his lawyer have since lost interest in the matter. They advised that having exhausted all peaceful means of recovering the fund; I am at liberty to explore other options since the guy refused to oblige.
I don't want to arrest him with the police in his state of residence because I know he can easily riddle his way out. Considering our judicial system, I think going to court would prolong the case.
A friend suggested that since I live in Lagos and him at the East, the best option will be using EFCC, Special Fraud Unit or Force CID to arrest him (debtor) after obtaining approval from IG's office which seems to be expensive. I visited SFU Ikoyi and was told that the petition to IG will cost me 60,000 to 100,000 while mobilization for the officers that will go for his arrest amounts to 250,000.
The above fund put together is almost 400,000 naira or more, which I don't have at the moment. I have since put my car for sale to pursue this case.
I have lost a lot in the course of traveling for this debt. I lost my job last year because I couldn't continue servicing the loan I took from First Bank and my place of work as well.
My wife is now the pillar of the family. The situation around me is so pathetic.
Please I need suggestions and anyone that can assist me pursue this case. I have print out of all the payment made to him(debtor), signed agreement by him and other documents.
Please help a brother.
I will appreciate if the moderators can help me push this post to front page. I am totally devastated with no hope at sight. Go to Brekete family/Human Rights Radio in Abuja or approach Legal Aid Council of Nigeria (LACoN) for free or probono services |

“ May 25th 2019...The day Okpekpe birthed an African Hero''
On Saturday, Kenyan athlete Simon Cheprot was on his final seconds to winning the the 2019 Okpekpe International 10Km race when something suddenly happened.
Suddenly, he saw his Kenya colleague and rival Kenneth Kipkemoi collapse just as they were approaching the finish line. How heart breaking that could be.
To the surprise of many, Cheprot dropped his ambition of winning the Okpekpe title for a second time and instead stopped to pick his colleague, lifted him up and they both walked slowly until they finally crossed the finish line. They finally finished at position 15 and 16.
Fans at the venue and those watching on live TV hailed him as a hero and for being a brother’s keeper.
The Nigeria IAAF representative Mike Itemuagbor described him as “our hero” and later rewarded him 1 million shillings for his humanitarian effort.
The organizers of the 7th Okpekpe International 10km Road Race also rewarded him 1 million shillings for being "brother's keeper".
Cheprot went to Okpekpe, ran and left as a hero. He did not win any medal but he won hearts. Be your bother’s keeper today.

fiizznation: Most nigerians don't pay their light bills but they will still be ones to condemn and criticize phcn officials when they don't give them electricity. Nothing in life is free people. The Ghana, ivory Coast, Niger republic, that their citizens enjoy stable electricity supply do pay for it. Just look at how this one is fighting an official over what he is supposed to pay.
If you don't want to use PHCN electricity, go get yourself a solar panel and if you can't afford one, buy a generator. You are ill-informed. Go and cross check your facts. Virtually every household or building in these countries you mentioned are billed through prepaid meter and other accurate billing system, which reverse is the case here in Nigeria. |

Family › A Day-old Baby Buried Alive By Her Mother, Found Alive after 2 days by nickxtra(op): 6:59pm On May 23, 2019 |
A day-old baby which was buried alive by her mother in Birnin-Kebbi, was found alive two days after and rescued by the Hisbah Committee, Kebbi State.
Our correspondent gathered the mother of the baby, (name withheld) and her friend, had lodged in a hotel along bye pass road, Birnin-Kebbi, for two days from where they sneak out to bury the baby in the night at the back of the hotel.
While confirming the incident on Thursday to newsmen, the Director Sharia Religious Affairs Department, Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar, Muhammad Lamne Augie, said it was the persistent cries of the baby that attracted passersby who pulled the baby girl out from the shallow grave.
“The baby girl was buried alive by her mother who lodged in … hotel with her friend for two days. After they had buried the baby, two days after, they went to the scene to verify if the baby had died. But to their surprise, when they open the grave, the baby’s cries rang out, so they ran away.
“But when the baby continued crying, passerby raced to the scene where they discovered the baby buried in the ground. They removed her from the ground, alert us, and we came to the scene to rescue the baby.
“On further enquiry, residents of the area told us that they saw two girls around the scene and they said they came from the hotel. So, we went to the hotel where we apprehended the two suspects.”
The director along the state vice-chairman, Alhaji Mamuda Geza, and state secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad, attributed the incident to unwanted pregnancy, stressing that parents and religious leaders need to do a lot against societal vices.
They added that the baby had been returned to the mother with strict conditions attached by the court because the orphanage home would not accept a baby whose mother is alive. |
Politics › Re: JUST IN: Saraki, Dogara, Others Defection Unlawful, Says Court by nickxtra(m): 2:39pm On May 17, 2019 |
ExAngel007: The Federal High Court has declared as unlawful the defection of 53 lawmakers in the National Assembly to other political parties.
Delivering the judgement today, Justice Okon Abang held that based on the judgement of the Supreme Court, which gave reasons that would allow for defection, the lawmakers did not meet that requirement.
The judgement followed a suit filed by the Legal Defence Assistance Project (LEDAP), challenging the defection of the Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and 51 other lawmakers and Senator Godswill Akpabio.
LEDAP had asked the court to order the lawmakers to vacate their seats in the National Assembly and return all salaries and allowances earned since their defection, arguing that the lawmakers defected from their political parties for selfish reasons other than division in their parties as prescribed by law.
But in the case of Senator Godswill Akpabio, Justice Abang held that he did not violate the law because he neither decamped nor defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with the facts before the court.
The court had on Monday, granted leave to the senator to file an application challenging the suit by LEDAP, saying that there is no evidence before it that he was personally served, since the suit is not a class act against the Senate.
