RomanceRevealed! Why Gloria Patricks Called Off Wedding A Week To The Day by nickxtra(op): 10:11pm On Apr 16, 2019
Mr. Marshall Bernard had engaged Miss Gloria Patricks sometime in 2018 in the presence of friends and other members of the public.

Both couple to be were expected to get wedded officially on the 15th day of April, 2019. This expectation was brought to an abrupt end when the Groom announced that his wife to be had called off the wedding, without citing any reason to that effect.

Meanwhile, friends have been asking questions to know why the wedding was cancelled at the very crucial time, but none of the two erstwhile love birds could reveal the reason or reasons.

However, if comments from some of the friends to the bride and the groom are anything to go by, the Groom, Mr. Bernard is accused to have slept or got intimate with the Bride's younger sister.

This infuriated her, after discovering the act of her supposedly husband to be, to call off the wedding.

PoliticsAs Electricity Prepaid Metering Kicks Off, What Nigerians And Government Must Do by nickxtra(op): 1:46pm On Apr 16, 2019
INTRODUCTION
It is no longer news that the plans by the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the various Distribution Companies in Nigeria to meter Nigerian electricity consumers through third parties, known as Meter Assets Providers (MAPs) get closer to its flag off date, being May 1st, 2019.

As announced by NERC and re-echoed severally by the other relevant stakeholders, single phase meters are billed to be sold to Nigerians at a whopping sum of about 37,000 Naira while 3 phased meters is expected to cost about 67,000 Naira.

THE NEW METERING PROJECT

Nigerians have over the years suffered and cried over estimated or what is popularly called 'crazy bills", which propelled the need for the various stakeholders, led by NERC to come up with this project. This makes the project a welcome development.

Indeed, it is worth celebrating, but the celebration is being hampered by the proposed outrageous costs of these meters. I recall that before the Discos were mandated to give out meters free to Nigerians, a prepaid meter was sold for about 25,500 Naira for the single phase, while the 3 phased meter cost about 39,000 Naira- over Fifty percent increase!!! So, the differences between the erstwhile prices and the proposed prices are very clear. What I want to ask is, why the astronomical increase? How did NERC and its allies arrived at the stated prices? Were the consumers carried along in arriving at these prices? Was the present economic condition of the average Nigerian, most of who cannot adequately cater for thier immediate needs and that of thier dependants, taken into account?

How many Nigerians, particularly the rural dwellers can afford to buy a prepaid meter for such outrageous prices?

The above are very pertinent questions that beg for answers, particularly so, when is further viewed that these meters Nigerians are being asked to pay for, will become properties of the Discos after installation. So, why are Nigerians being asked to pay for meters to be owned and used to generate income by the Discos? How is it done in other climes?

If at all Nigerians must buy prepaid meters, why can't the prepaid markets be an open one, where an electricity consumers goes to the market, buy a meter, take it to the Discos for quality assurance check and configuration, then install same for the consumer if the meter meets the necessary quality assurance check?

UNUSUAL SILENCE
Even the voices of the segment of Nigerians that ought to cry against these outrageous prices are quiet. Does this silence means Nigerians must live with the reality that the arrangement and the prices have been agreed on, by all? What assurance do Nigerians get from the proponents of these metering projects and thier willing allies that these prices would not be increased, maybe after a while or indiscriminately in the nearest future?

GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION
I think, this is where the government of Nigeria has to come in, through its various agents to prevent the ripping off of the Nigerian electricity consumers.

Firstly, there's must be law by the National Assembly to regulate this metering system, because mere policy pronouncement and directives or regulations by NERC cannever stop these power distribution companies and the MAPS from taking advantage of the poor and defencelss Nigerians.

Secondly, if the prices have to be accepted, I suggest that the Federal Government of Nigeria should come and subsidize these prices, particularly in the rural areas or across the nation. This is to ensure that the burden of these outrageous prices on Nigerians are mitigated.

CONCLUSION:
Thirdly, I think the labour and civil society organisations and all Nigerians should arise and engage constructively, with the proponents and drivers of this project in order for Nigerians not to fall victim to economic exploitation. We must all together arrive at reasonable prices for the meters and not the prices manufactured out by the companies and forced down on Nigerians.

EducationRe: The 7 Courses To Replace Mass Communication Degree In Nigeria by nickxtra(m): 11:08am On Apr 16, 2019
massmediang:
Professors, professionals and practitioners of communication in Nigeria presented new communication curricula to National Universities Commission (NUC). Proponents of the new curricula worked on it for over two years and have been advocating for its acceptance and adoption. They include professors and senior lecturers from the departments of mass communication/communication studies of numerous universities spread across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.

Others that were part of the advocacy for acceptance of the new curricula are regulatory agencies such as the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and Nigerian Press Council (NPC); professional bodies such as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Radio, Television and Theartre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU); practitioners such as the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), print media journalists and the Director of Public Relations of the Nigerian Navy; and international development agencies such as UNESCO, UNICEF and the MacArthur Foundation.

If you are interested in studying mass communication in Nigeria or you are a graduate of this discipline, seven new courses would be replacing this degree. Here are the seven independent degree-awarding departments which the new curricula seek to establish in place of mass communication:
1. Journalism & Media Studies

2. Public Relations

3. Advertising

4. Broadcasting

5. Film & Multimedia Studies

6. Development Communication Studies

7.Information & Media Studies

In a bid to reduce the congestion at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says it is encouraging international airlines to divert some of their traffic to airports outside Lagos, especially the newly-constructed terminals in Abuja and Port Harcourt.

A spokeswoman for FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, stated this over the weekend at the agency’s headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos in an interview with aviation journalists.

Yakubu said that the diversion of traffic from Lagos would help in putting the newly-commissioned terminals in Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA), Omegwa and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja to maximum use.

To this end, she said Turkish Airlines and Emirates have indicated their readiness to commence scheduled flight operations from PHIA and NAIA, respectively from June 2019, while Air Peace would also begin a direct flight to Dubai, UAE from PHIA as from April this year.

Yakubu explained that it was necessary to divert traffic from Lagos to other airports within the country, but noted that Lagos would remain the hub of airports in Nigeria.

She explained that rather than the entire airlines focus their attention on Lagos airport, they could also make use of the state-of-the-art facilities in other aerodromes across the country, stressing that FAAN was determined to improve flying experience of air travelers within Nigeria.

According to her, Turkish Airlines would commence direct flight from its base in PHIA from June 25, while Emirates would increase its four weekly flights to daily to Dubai Airport from NAIA from June 1, 2019.

Already, she said that Cronos Air operates three weekly frequencies; Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays from PHIA, while Lufthansa Airlines flies four times weekly: Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from the same airport.

Also, Air France operates five weekly flights: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays, stressing that the Turkish flights would be operating four times weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, starting from June 25, 2019, from the same airport.

Apart from the foreign airlines, she emphasised that Air Peace would also commence direct flight operations to Accra from Abuja, while scheduled flights between Port Harcourt and Dubai operations of the airline would commence in April this year.

Besides, Yakubu explained that Air Cote d’Ivoire would commence direct flight from Abuja to its base in Abidjan soon.

She said: “Turkish Air and Emirates would soon commence direct flight to their bases from the new Port Harcourt International Airport terminal. We want to appeal to members of the public that they don’t have to come from Port Harcourt or any part of the Eastern state to fly out of the country.

“They can easily go to Port Harcourt to fly. Also, as you know, Abuja Airport new terminal too, has opened and Emirates would be starting from the terminal from June. We are expecting all the international airlines to start operating also from Abuja Airport.

“We want to encourage our passengers that they don’t all have to come to Lagos even though we know Lagos is the commercial nerve centre of the country and the airport is the hub, but passengers can travel from Abuja and Port Harcourt airports to connect to their destinations so that we can decongest Lagos airport. Turkish will soon commence a direct flight from Port Harcourt to Turkey, while Emirates will also do so to Dubai.”

PoliticsRe: Buhar's Government Has Failed Nigerians - Northern Elders by nickxtra(m): 5:44pm On Apr 15, 2019
ExAngel007:
President Muhammadu Buhari has been blasted by
the The Northern Elders Forum, NEF, stressing that
the current insecurity in the North showcases
leadership failure and irresponsibility of governance.
Speaking to newsmen after the forum’s meeting in
Zaria, the NEF Chairman, Prof. Ango Abdullahi called
on President Muhammadu Buhari to demonstrate
higher level of concern and sensitivity to the plight
of traumatised citizens, especially in Zamfara,
Katsina, Kaduna, Benue, Niger, Plateau and Taraba
States.

Apart from the Presidency, the NEF also slammed
other tiers of government for failing to address and
arrest the abject poverty and under-development in
the country.

It said Nigeria has the resources and ideas but lacks
the political will to tackle the problems.

According to Abdullahi, “There is serious
irresponsibility of governance in the country,
especially in the North; the leadership is not doing
enough to meet up the challenges of poverty and
under-development.

“We also demand a decisive, comprehensive and
fundamental government actions against poverty,
underdevelopment and insecurity affecting North as
well as show leadership and compassion which are
reciprocal expectation of the Nigerian people.”

NEF said recent report of an international
organisation revealed that 90 per cent of the over
13.5 million children out-of-school in the country
were from the North.

It added, “The children will be adult in the next 10
years; no education, no vocational training, what do
you expect then? Insecurity situation.”

Abdullahi expressed sadness that instead of
development, northern states were living under
horrendous Boko Haram threats, banditry,

kidnapping, armed robbery, marauding youth gangs,
herders and farmers clashes.

“It has become imperative for the forum to call
President Muhammadu Buhari to respond to threats
faced by northern Nigerians following incessant
killings in some states,” he observed.

Looking at the drawings from what I understand there was supposed to be a small setback before the gate house and gate so that people can curve in/out before joining the road. They didnt demolish any shops or buildings g.

I'm guessing the gate house was built very close to the road without stand setback and that's the subject of argument now. However it is I think those people should quickly build their gate at the approved place the government are locating it to then sue for the cost of building and compensation. If they believe they were wrong. That way the issue will be resolved later
The FCT officials have been collecting bribe from the management of mall, but this time around, the management refused to give them after they have realized that it is foolishness to keep bribing for what was approved. Sir the access road as contained in the attached annexures, was built according to the approved location, same way a neighbouring Police Barracks has its access road. If the FCT authorities don't want access road on Ahmadu Bello Way, then they should demolish the one used by the Police too.
