The former pastor accused of sexually assaulting several boys has been found guilty by a jury on all counts.

Ronnie Gorton was found guilty of [/b]exploitation, contributing, furnishing alcohol, sexual battery by an authority figure, statutory rape and continuance sexual abuse of a minor.[b]

He took the stand in his own defense during trial on Wednesday, before the jury began deliberating.

Gorton told the jury he met the accuser at Awakening Church while he was a youth pastor. The young boy eventually moved in with he and his ex-wife Rhonda shortly after the child’s mother was arrested. Gorton said during that time, the boy quickly opened up to him, telling him about his background, family issues, and even his interests.
When asked if he had ever provided the youth and another boy living with them at the time with beer and liquor, Gorton replied “unfortunately yes.” [/b]He also admitted to using marijuana with the boys three to four times a week.[b]

He believes he was overcompensating for his own strict religious upbringing.

However, when asked if he had molested the boy or showed him pornography he responded by saying “absolutely not.”

Gorton said Tuesday was the first time he’d seen his accuser since January 2018.

A man accused of beheading his girlfriend has been found competent to stand trial.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports that Judge Brian Stiles found 33-year-old Timothy Paul Hernandez competent following a court-ordered evaluation by a mental-health expert.

Hernandez is charged with premeditated murder in the death of 27-year-old Vanessa Cons. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Cons was found dead in the couple’s Mount Vernon home in August 2018.

According to court documents, Hernandez told authorities that he killed Cons after speaking with God.

Public defender C. Wesley Richards had asked that Hernandez be evaluated by another psychologist, but his client declined.

Hernandez is being held in the Skagit County jail on $1 million bail.

A man has been arrested after a disturbing homophobic incident at a restaurant in St. Augustine, Fla., which was followed by a series of equally disconcerting actions.

Police said that 62-year-old Frederic Sterry Smith was charged with simple battery Saturday in a downtown restaurant.

Smith was having dinner with an unnamed woman at Milagro On 12 Latin Kitchen. When it was time to pay the bill, he apparently decided to use the moment to express his feeling towards gay people. Instead of leaving his waiter the customary 15-20% of the total value of the bill, Smith wrote on the receipt: “if he wasn’t gay.”
He also and left nothing for a tip, the Naples Daily News reported.

The male server showed the receipt to his manager, who confronted Smith and asked him if he’d really written that.

He said that he had, and from then his actions turned even more erratic: He grabbed the bill from the manager. Smith then proceeded to grab her collar, pulled it open, and stuffed the check down her blouse, the police report said.

FOX 17 News has learned [/b]the man Metro Police say took photos of a woman in an Opry Mills dressing room is a prominent leader with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.[b]

Stephen Murdock posted bail after his arrest last Tuesday after police say he took photos of a woman at H&M.

Murdock’s wife also tried to get the victim not to call police, according to an affidavit.

Murdock is a high councilor with the LDS Church, FOX 17 News has confirmed.

FOX 17 News’ sister station in sister station in Salt Lake City caught up with some of his fellow parishioners, who want to keep their identity a secret.
"It's just disappointing to see that um, especially someone in that position isn't meeting that same position themselves," a parishioner said.

Murdock is from Holiday, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City, and was visiting Nashville when the incident occurred.

The victim, Alondra Alcala, said she never thought a night of shopping at Opry Mills Mall would lead to a total violation of her privacy.

“I thought it was a joke,” Alcala said. “I thought it was a prank, I thought somebody was just messing with me."

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, Alcala says she took five or six items into the H&M dressing room to try on. That’s where a man who Alcala says looked like an employee directed her to a specific room.

The Salt Lake City Diocese has named Rev. Erik Richtsteig to become the new youth priest in one of the city’s parishes, which includes St. Ambrose Church and J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School.

Starting in the fall, Richtsteig will lead weekly Masses for children ages 4 to 15.

Last year, the previous priest who held the same position, Andrzej Skrzypiec, had to be dismissed after encountering some problems with the law.

A 33-year-old Tampa man is accused of secretly recording a woman changing clothes in a dressing room at a local Target.

On July 26, Charles Schenck allegedly used his cell phone to record the woman without her knowledge.

It happened at the Target location on W. Gandy Blvd.

The woman told police that while she was changing she turned towards the door mirror and saw a black cell phone with a clear case pointing right at her from the bottom opening of the changing room door.
She screamed and the phone was pulled away.

Surveillance video from the store and information from store employees allowed Tampa Police to identify Schenck as a possible suspect.

[/b]The next day he admitted he was in the store and used his phone to record the woman undressing.[b]

He told detectives he felt guilty and deleted the video after he left the store.

Schenck is employed by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a former youth minister.

Schenck is charged with video voyeurism under or through clothing.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes released the following statement on the arrest:

We are deeply saddened by the charges being brought against a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Area Representative in Tampa. All affected by this situation remain in our heartfelt prayers.
