Abagworo:
My point remains that division usually seems an easy solution but not always the best. You can learn that from divided businesses and families. Division comes as a last resort.

@bolded those who were benefitting from Okorocha are still benefiting. I and Okorocha are almost financially equal so he cannot do much for me. I supported him cause he was a good Governor and nothing more.
I have been one of your great fan here on Nairaland cos of your unbiased views in things about igboland despite your mom (having Roots from Ekepye)..
Its interesting to know that you aren't really financially down like somepipo think you are!

Thumbs up for that
But hope you aren't doing against what we are all preaching against here, by investing away from home?
I believe if you have such riches, you should also in your little way, be doing the things you can for the better growth of alaigbo.

Kinematics:
There are several definitions of the word Niger Delta depending on the context its been used.
Niger Delta as in SS Nigeria
Niger Delta as in geographical delta of the River Niger
Niger Delta as in oil producing states

Depending on the context you'll know which they are referring to. Have you seen anywhere south south people add any state that's not South South state when talking about Niger Delta?
Ibo man use your head oo and keep your palm oil producing Imo and Abia States to your SE neither are we referring to Ondo State. When South Southerners are talking about Niger Delta we don't mean oil producing states rather our geopolitical zone.
Oga no sane Igbo man wants to form any country with you sir...

Start clear out of there

Talk about good road network and interconnectivity, Abia has got it just like almost every road in Aba is linked. That is the master plan of the city by early men of the state who at that time meant well for the state.

Abia has only been unfortunate to be poorly governed and that has been the killer punch that still makes the state stagger till now.
Yeah
British people really finish work in Aba planing
Buh the FG is not helping matters at all and to worsen the case Abia has an little above average governor by Nigeria standard,
When at this time of fg neglect the need a top notch governor like Dave umahi,

Wonderful.

I won't be surprised that this is the effect of cutting corners and in turn making use of substandard materials to finish a job.

Thankfully, no casualty was recorded.
I don't understand what Abia state did to Nigeria
From The government down to the individual from other region
Could you believe that I toured SE last year and Abia is far more modern urbanised than many states in Nigeria
But FG..shaa
Entering Abia from Akwa-ibom is bad (federal road)
Entering the same Abia from IMO, bad
Entering from Rivers bad
Entering from Cross river worst
Giving everyone the impression that Abia has bad roads while in the actually Sense, Abia with 3 commercial cities dwarfs many states in Nigeria! And has more roads than many States,
Infact I don't know why FG just decided to gang up against Abia, all round
Just look at the a federal building collapsing before construction completion

PoliticsRe: Few Pics From Imo State by Nigercity: 12:49pm On May 20, 2021
AKswift:
Like Igboson1 stated, the growth, demand should be organic. Take for example, l wouldn’t build a 10-floor high rise in Owerri for office lease because the demand is not there, except it’s a personal hotel. The only viable market for high rise in Nigeria is Lagos, ABJ, and Rivers coming distant third. Remember investment is influenced by ROI, which Owerri can’t provide.

Another angle to look at this is high rise building for luxurious apartments, which we see on the island in Lagos. The average income level in Imo state can’t support that. Even the few who can afford it would rather stay in their mansion in New Owerri. Plus, Imo, and the East in general, do not boast of substantial skilled immigrants like Lagos who live in such service apartments. An industrialized Imo state will make this happen, but the state is not there yet, so this high rise buildings, for now, is not economical; l would prefer an organic growth
Oga
I kindly disagree with you
Building high rise in the East does not really need to be organic like you guys are saying,
Waiting for the evolution to start individual is the reason while eroupean cities don't really have high-rise like there American and Asian counterparts,
Do you think it would be easily for people to start demolishing there 5/4 storey buildings (which is the current ongoing on trend now) to build high rise.
Even when the are making gains

The truth is IMSG should build few high rise in the cities rent it out at lower price, and gradually increase the price
With these other private institution will follow suites, thats how it works
Even in Lagos, government started the constitution of 5-7 storey buildings b4 individuals joined (check most government own estates in lag).
Even cities less populated than our cities all have high rise in other continents
I was even surprised that little Gaza that's roughly has 2 millions has such number of high rise contrary to what I thought!

Fact is, our region is the most dense populated in Nigeria
So we need high-rise more than any other region

PoliticsRe: Is South West Is The Most Populated Region In Nigeria. by Nigercity: 8:49am On May 20, 2021
9jakool:
SE is more densely populated than most parts of SW, but SW has more land to go around because it's slightly more than twice as big as SE. So even if SE has twice the population density of SW, the population of SW as a whole will still be bigger due to sheer size.

I've looked at google maps and much of SE in particular Imo, Anambra and Abia state (and Akwa Ibom) appear like cobweb from space which is a result of the settlement pattern of villages that bleed into neighboring villages via intertwined roads. This type of settlement pattern breaks up forests into fragments and this coupled with lack of protected forested area in SE Nigeria leads to significant amount of deforestation. What you said about SW being less densely populated is actually what's saving SW. Like you said settlements in SW are more spaced apart (except for Lagos-Ogun border corridor) which creates lots of forested areas between towns.

It's a shame that the SE is the only zone without a national park. SE is virtually in the tropical forest zone yet SW has more protected forest area despite a larger chunk (Western Oyo and Ogun) being in the savannahs.

The only other place worse than SE in terms of deforestation is Lagos. In the next 50 years, most of Lekki and Epe which hold most of the remaining forests in Lagos would be built up and without regard for creating enough protected areas. This would only add to the flooding problems of Lagos since trees along the coastline hold on to groundwater and serve as buffer against coastal erosion and flooding.
Lolz..
Oga cashsteady your brother said South East is more deserted than south west
(That's the main issue) which we all know is false because despite the 2006 undercount census in South East, it's still shows that south west is more deserted than SE.

Modified: anyway since you talked about planning, I just checked goggle earth view and I can tell you that there is no South West city that's as planned as ABA (pictures below)
Ibadan is even worse in terms of planing
So I wonder how you came to conclusion that south west cities are more planned,

I wonder how you came to the conclusion that there's is no park or Forest reserve in South East
Ogbeni calm down the lie now, I Know about 3(one in Enugu, 2 in Abia) yet I don't reside in South East.
So I don't know how you reached to your assertion,
Also if you have ever been to south east you will know that most part of South East is already built up more than your Nollywood imagination, infact states like Delta/Akwa-ibom and some part of Rivers are ripping spill over population of south east ( i.e Asaba which used to be a village, is now receiving heavy population spil over of onistha, likewise ABA and Akwa-ibom and some parts of Rivers)

Below pictures of ABA from statelite view
Now post a picture of any south west city let's compare in terms of planing
I can still show you pictures of onistha, (so you will see how the main onistha layouts are being arranged) also I can still show you pictures from Enugu Parks, (it's Even popular everyone knows this except you)

Cashsteady says south east is deserted
Lolz
Hope you are aware that south east is the most dense populated region in Nigeria (goggle these)
Abi you don't Know geography
Or you don't Know how to use Google maps

Imo state alone is more dense populated than Oyo (goggle that)
Aside Lagos
South West is just a village jungle filled with brown roofs

Guy like seriously needs to travel
Even some parts of the north are not as empty as most places in South West (aside Lagos) anyway I love the way Yorubas lies and believe there own propaganda,
Just take a look at the 2006 population census
Now compare south east and south west and tell me where is more deserted per landmass (although many Igbos in South East refuse to be counted, because of the Massob activities then) but not withstanding calculate with the undercount data.
Below are pictures of first
1st
Ogun/Lagos boundary: which should be the most populated place in South West (using Google Earth view)
2nd IMO/anambra boundary
3rd Delta/Edo boundary
Now tell me which one is more dense populated and built up
Don't always rush to public forum to disgrace yourself
(Use Google statelite view to cure your ignorance and see how empty south west is)
