@ all Get it straight, The motive of his visit is to balance religious call, not to pray for him. at least lots of christian has been praying for him for the past 5 month. physical presence those not tell if a prayer will be answer for the bible says in James 5:16b "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" all one need is to be righteous and fervently pray, if it pleases God he will heal the Guy. |

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8606584.stm US 'approves killing' US-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki Anwar al-Awlaki Anwar al-Awlaki's has said violence is a religious duty for Muslims The US government has authorised operations to capture or kill the radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, currently based in Yemen, reports say. The cleric, who is a US citizen, is being targeted for his involvement in planning attacks on the US, officials told journalists. Mr Awlaki was linked to the attempted bombing of an airliner bound for the US and a shooting on a US Army base. The US has warned Yemen is becoming a safe haven for al-Qaeda. The order was made by the Obama administration earlier this year, but it has just been revealed after a review of national security policy, the New York Times reported. Further approval "The danger Awlaki poses to this country is no longer confined to words, he's gotten involved in plots," unnamed officials told the newspaper. Awlaki knows what he's done, and he knows he won't be met with handshakes and flowers US official Profile: Anwar al-Awlaki Unnamed officials quoted by the Reuters news agency confirmed the story, saying that Mr Awlaki had been placed on a "US target list" of people it had authorised to kill or capture. The list, maintained by the CIA, is thought to be of people the US government believes are planning terrorist attacks against the US. Because Mr Awlaki is an American citizen, his addition had to be approved by the US National Security Council, the paper reported. "Awlaki knows what he's done, and he knows he won't be met with handshakes and flowers. None of this should surprise anyone," the New York Times quoted the official as saying. Failed state Mr Awlaki was born in New Mexico, but is currently based in Yemen. The Yemeni government, with support from the US and Saudi Arabia, has bombed suspected al-Qaeda hideouts in the last few months. But some analysts have warned that Yemen may become a failed state because of the fragile hold the Yemeni government has on its own country. Mr Awlaki was linked to an attack by a US Army major on the Fort Hood base last November, in which 13 people died. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a plane on its way into Detroit airport on Christmas Day 2009, allegedly met Mr Awlaki in Yemen weeks before boarding a US-bound plane in Lagos. The cleric became popular among Islamic radicals for his firebrand preaching in English which endorsed the use of violence as a religious duty. He lived and studied in the US where he was an imam in San Diego, where his sermons were attended by two of the 9/11 hijackers. He fled the US in 2007 and went to Yemen.

Yar’Adua : I owe public no explanation – Oyedepo Cover Stories Apr 7, 2010 By Sam Eyoboka & Kolade Larewaju ABEOKUTA – PRESIDENT of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo yesterday confirmed that he actually visited ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua at the Presidential Villa but declined to give details of the man’s state of health. Bishop Oyedepo who spoke to reporters in Abeokuta, declined further comments on their visit to the ailing president merely saying “yes” when asked to confirm the reports in the newspapers. Pressed to speak on the president’s health, he said “that is personal. I owe the public no explanation.” Bishop Oyedepo Oyedepo was one of the four Christian leaders who were led by the president of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. John Onaiyekan, who visited President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on Easter Monday to pray with him. Others included Rev. Emmanuel Kure and the erstwhile chaplain of Aso Rock Chapel, Prof. Yusuf Obaje. Meanwhile, as over 140 million Nigerians await the verdict of the four Christian leaders on the state of health of President Yar’Adua, feelers reaching Vanguard showed that the team was hurriedly assembled to balance a political equation as Muslim clerics had earlier prayed with him. According to informed sources, an earlier move to get credible Christian clerics to be part of the Easter Monday visit flopped when some of them were perceived not to be too keen on the visit. The whole idea of the Easter prayers by Christian leaders was said to have emanated from a former two-term governor who believed he could contract eminent Christian leaders to pray for the ailing president, especially after a similar exercise by Muslim clerics. The immediate family of the ailing president was said to have bought the idea and therefore asked one of the key officials to liaise with the former governor. It was at that point that the former governor was said to have called the National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor who was expected to reach others. The proposal was for Oritsejafor to recruit the services of the CAN president, John Onaiyekan, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and one other cleric.

3 killed in fresh Jos mayhem Cover Stories Apr 7, 2010 By Taye Obateru JOS—THREE people were again killed in the Plateau State capital on Easter Monday following a fracas after an inter-denomination service organized by the Jos North Branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN. Several others were injured and are now receiving treatment in various hospitals. While a version said the three were shot dead by members of the special task force maintaining peace in the state, the task force denied this saying its members only went to the scene to disperse the crowd. Plateau women protest in Jos after a recent attack Vanguard gathered that trouble started around 5.30 p.m. after some of those who attended the service at the Rwang Pam Stadium held a procession along some streets and were stoned by some hoodlums around Nasarawa Gwom. Several other residents spoke of being attacked by the hoodlums as they returned home in Dogon Dutse and Dutse Uku areas. A female student of the University of Jos said she and her little son were almost mobbed when they ran into the hoodlums around 6.00 p.m while returning from Abuja where they celebrated the Easter. Confirming the fracas in a statement on Tuesday, Brigadier General Donald Oji, who signed for the commander of the Special Task Force, said although due approval was given for the inter-denominational service, it was on the understanding that there would be no procession outside the venue. The statement said the hoodlums hijacked the procession to cause the fresh disturbance adding that members of the task force moved in promptly to restore normalcy. It stressed that those killed were not shot by members of the task force. Meanwhile, acting Police Commissioner of the state, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba has lamented the rising wave of secret killings in the state warning that traditional rulers in whose domains such secret killings take place would be held responsible henceforth. Speaking at a meeting with representatives of the Fulani and other stakeholders held at the Gbong Gwom’s Palace on Tuesday, Aduba said investigations had revealed that some of the traditional rulers were privy to the secret killings. He said: “The Police would arrest the traditional ruler or chief where any corpse of a victim of secret killing is found because our findings revealed that some of them know about these ugly incidents.

http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/3565-ekiti-expired-milk-scam-we-are-vindicated-ac-they-are-confused-govt- Ekiti expired milk scam: We are vindicated –AC •They are confused –Govt | Print | E-mail Written by Stephen Gbadamosi The Action Congress (AC) in Ekiti State has said that it had been vindicated on its allegation that the Segun Oni-led government in the state was feeding expired milk to pupils in government schools as officials of the state Ministry of Education visited the schools last week. But the government, in a swift reaction said the AC was a bunch of confused politicians. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government, in a reaction by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, said it had warned the people of the state that members of the AC were confused. “As we said before, these characters in the AC are confused. They are just looking for something to say so as to justify their fake existence and the crumb that they get from their Lagos paymaster. “Last week, what they said was that we were feeding students of public schools in Ekiti State with expired milk. Now, they want to justify their falsehood with the Saturday Tribune story. But unknown to them, they have further exposed their stupidity.” The AC, in a statement by the Director of Communications of the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, Mr. Yemi Adaramodu, made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, at the weekend, said, “We have been vindicated about the alarm raised concerning the alleged distribution of expired milk to Ekiti pupils and students of secondary schools by officials of the Ministry of Education last week. “An Ibadan-based national newspaper on its front page on Saturday published a story warning the public to beware of consuming expired milk of MILCOW brand which is currently in circulation, thus, confirming our earlier position on the matter. Interestingly, the same brand of powdered milk with the name MILCOW was referred to by the newspaper story and it was the same company, ROFICO, based in Lagos inscribed on the sachet of the milk distributed to schools in Ekiti that was mentioned as the packaging company. “In his attempt to deny the obvious, the Commissioner for Education corroborated the fact that powdered milk was actually distributed to Ekiti schools by his ministry. He further confirmed that some of the powdered milk had actually expired but that those that had expired were kept in a warehouse. “However, our worry is that we don’t know which warehouse the commissioner kept the expired powdered milk, neither are we aware when and where the said expired milk had been destroyed in accordance with the directive of NAFDAC to the packaging company. “It is, therefore, safe to conclude that the commissioner’s claim that the expired products are in a warehouse is an afterthought and a face saving measure for his ministry and officials who engaged in the distribution of the expired products to pupils and students of Ekiti Schools.” |
