Ehoi:

I think the governor of edo state is right up there with him. I give the edge to edo state governor because he has to first find the money to bring about development, a problem fashola does not have. People in edo state seem to be in shock with the development springing in front of their eyes and the bigger surprise is where the governor got the money from because everyone knows edo state does not have money. Its not surprising these two governors are from AC. Others states needs to learn from this. Some people can easily excuse the wonderful things Fashola is doing in Lagos claiming Lagos state have money. But when you consider what is going on in edo state, a state that does not have money, the difference between PDP and AC is very clear.

ABUJA—AFTER 13 days of horse-trading and high-level politicking over who would become the nation’s number two citizen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu, yesterday, administered the oath of office on the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Muhammad Namadi Sambo as the fourth democratically elected Vice President of the country.
This is as President Goodluck Jonathan declared that the emergence of Namadi Sambo as Nigeria’s Vice President marked the end of crises among political actors in Aso Rock, especially between President and Vice President.

Insisting that he would ensure a harmonious working relationship with the new Vice President, President Jonathan said: “I promise you full cooperation. The stories of crisis between president and vice president will not arise. I will make sure that we work together as a team. I have the confidence to say that because my history is well known by everybody.”

Jonathan said “I have a fair knowledge of areas of disagreement. I was a deputy governor before I became a governor, and I started as a vice president before I became the president.”

VP Sambo takes oath

After the oath taking event which was witnessed by a capacity crowd of who-is-who in the country, the new Vice President was immediately decorated with the symbolic insignia by President Goodluck Jonathan. This was followed by another decoration of the new appointee, but this time, with the prestigious award of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON, also by the President.

The historic but unique event which held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa was billed for 10:00 a.m., yesterday, but could not hold due to unforeseen circumstances. It was shifted to 4:00 p.m., in the afternoon, perhaps to enable interested State governors to attend the ceremony.

Some of those present at the ceremony included the Senate President, Senator David Mark, represented by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Eweremadu, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Oladimeji Bankole, former CJN, Justice Mohammed Uwais (rtd), former Minister of Transport in the Second Republic, Alhaji Umaru Dikko, serving and former governors, ministers, traditional rulers among others.

Speaking during the ceremony, Jonathan said: “Today we are witnessing a brief ceremony but it is quite unique and important in the political history of Nigeria. I know that we will work together to make sure that we project the interest of this country internationally and work with all stakeholders to improve the economy of this country. I believe you will be supportive and carry out the duty of your office without fear or favour.”

Responding, Vice President Sambo said: “It is with a deep sense of appreciation and the will to serve my fatherland, that I accepted this enormous responsibility of the office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I am not unaware of the challenges posed by the dictates of this office and we shall surmount such challenges, Allah willing.

“I believe that my choice to occupy this office by Mr. President is hinged on the belief that I will bring my wealth of experience garnered over the years in the private as well as the public sector, to bear in the discharge of my duties and actualization of Mr. President’s lofty programmes for our dear country.”

Sambo

Barring last-minute changes, the two chambers of the National Assembly will separately screen vice-presidential nominee and Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, on Tuesday for Nigeria‘s second most important political office.

President Goodluck Jonathan finally forwarded the name of the governor to the NASS on Friday.

The President‘s decision was contained in a letter he addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole.

The letter, dated May 13, 2010, and titled ”Nomination of Vice-President” reads, ”In compliance with the provisions of Section 146, Sub-section (3) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I have the honour to nominate Alhaji Namadi Sambo for consideration as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the House of Representatives.

”While hoping that this exercise will receive the usual expeditious consideration and approval of the Honourable House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, please accept, Mr Speaker, the assurances of my highest regards.”

Findings at the House showed that it had already concluded arrangements for the screening in compliance with Section 146 (3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution.

It does not require a joint session of the National Assembly to screen the nominee, though each arm, sitting separately, must approve whoever is nominated by the President as the Vice-President.

The section reads, ”, (c) for any other reason, the President shall nominate and, with the approval of each House of the National Assembly, appoint a new Vice-President.”

A Notice Paper the House Committee on Rules and Business released on Friday for next week‘s activities listed Sambo‘s name under item 2(a) as a subject for deliberation on Tuesday.

The document stated that Sambo would be screened by the House on Tuesday in compliance with the constitution.

The paper stated, ”Consideration of the nomination of Alhaji Namadi Sambo as Vice-President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, pursuant to Section 146 of the 1999 Constitution.”

When he was contacted for clarification, Chairman of the committee, Mr. Ita Enang (PDP, Akwa Ibom), confirmed that the Kaduna State governor‘s name had been forwarded to the House.

Saturday Punch investigations, however, revealed that the debate on Sambo‘s choice might be stormy on Tuesday as some lawmakers were already opposing him.

It was gathered that members of the Northern Legislators‘ Forum in particular, were sharply divided over the nomination of Sambo.

The Forum comprises of legislators from the three geopolitical zones in the North -North-East, North-Central and North-West.

Their grouse is said to be the fact that Jonathan‘s choice upturned their calculations.

“This was not what we expected. The President simply refused to listen to our plea that he should pick the former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, for the job.

“His decision upturned our calculations and we are not happy,” a member of the forum said in Abuja.

A lawmaker from Kano State, Alhaji Abubakar Maifata, said the forum was still consulting.

However, it was learnt that the majority of lawmakers from the North-West disagreed with those from the larger Northern Forum and had endorsed Sambo.

Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Alhaji Farouk Lawan, confirmed that the North-West had accepted Sambo, being one of them.

“As far as we are concerned, Mr. President has met our demand for the VP to come from the North-West in the spirit of fairness, equity and justice. We are satisfied,” Lawan said.

Efforts to get the Chairman of the Northern Forum, Mr. Terngu Tsegba, to comment on the disagreement failed on Friday.

He did not pick his calls while a text message our correspondent forwarded to his mobile telephone was not replied.

Breaking News: Ogbulafor resigns
Headlines May 13, 2010

Prince Ogbulafor

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA – THE embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Vincent Eze Ogbulafor may have bowed to pressure today and resigned his position as the head of the National Working Committee, NWC of the party.

There were very strong indications that he tendered his letter of resignation, though as at the time of this report, there was no official confirmation from the national leadership of the party that Ogbulafor had tendered his letter of resignation, just as he was not seen in the office throughout today and his official aides were also not available to speak on the issue.

At Wadata Plaza, the National Secretariat of the party, Staff of the Party were seen discussing the issue in very low tune against the backdrop that they had not formally been briefed.

The PDP National Chairman had on Wednesday while answering questions from Journalists said he had no plans to resign and that he was still the National Chairman of the Party.

It would be recalled that some members of the party under the aegis of PDP Reform Forum with former Senate President Ken Nnamani, ex-Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Aminu Bello Masari along side other stakeholders have been in the forefront calling for a better and more operational National Working Committee that would drive the PDP in line with the ideals of the founding fathers.

Also recall that the call for his resignation became heightened following his prosecution at an Abuja High Court along side three others by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC over a 16-count criminal charge involving N2.3 billion fraud. This, the party members and Nigerians are of the view that it became imperative for him to resign especially as the one presiding over a party that produced the government of the day which professes rule of law, transparency as its cardinal objectives.

Before the news of his apparent resignation, the National Chairman had got the support of the twenty-eight governors of the party, but as events unfold, they started dumping him gradually starting with Governors Ikedi Ohakim of Imo, Martins Elechi of Ebonyi and Sulivan Chime who had during their meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan asked him to resign.

Also on Wednesday night, it was gathered that majority of the governors who had been his backbone at the end of the meeting held at Kwara State Governor’s lodge decided to remove the ladder from his feet, leaving him to be on his own.

But answering questions from Journalists at the Party National Secretariat, the PDP National Secretary, Abubakar Kawu Baraje who noted that the National Chairman cannot resign as Chairman without his consent, was however selfish with answers, saying, “The national chairman of a party like peoples democratic party cannot resign without you hearing. I cannot confirm that to you now but maybe in the next few hours I will be able to confirm yes or no.

On whether he can deny the rumour, he said, “ did you hear what I said I cannot confirm and I am student of English too, I said in the next few hours.

“On a serious note it is no longer news that three governors from the eastern state asked him to resign as a result of the case in court and you know the process of electing our chairman and various members of the executive party they come from the zone before they are now elected through national convention. So he has to go on consultations with his zone and presently he is doing a lot of consultation around from his zone and the outcome of the consultation is what will tell us whether he is going to resign or not that is why I tell you that presently I cannot confirm and I know that before the end of the day definitely you will know the out come of his consultation, today definitely you will know the outcome of the consultation.”

On what is the process of resignation and whom will he handover the letter of resignation to, the PDP National Secretary said, “the process is very clear in the constitution. If he resigns then there is a vacancy and the constitution says that if there is a vacancy, he hands over to the Deputy National chairman pending the appointment of a new chairman from that same zone and the appointment will also have to be confirmed by the executive committee of the party.

“The process is that he will resign handover to the deputy and the deputy will hold forte and the letter will have to be presented to the deputy who will present it to the NEC and at the same time approved.

Asked further the role of the NWC, he said, “who is the deputy national chairman representing? It is the NWC.

When asked if the NWC members are happy with the present development, Baraje answered thus, “Any body can be accused of anything including you gentle men. If you are accused, it does not mean that you are already convicted.

You see you are all enlightened people at certain level. There are various kinds of behaviour. I read in one of the newspapers today that in Nigeria, we don’t resign, even in the culture where they reside you resign base on various factors as a result of when people who elected you into position say they don’t have confidence in you any longer you resign. Two, when it is proved that you have committed misconduct in your profession. And in this case of the chairman is being accused of wrong doing and the court process is on. He has not been convicted the only snag in this situation is that his zone that voted him to come and represent the party level said he should resign. He now says let me consult wider in that zone which is what he is doing. So the idea of whether we are happy or not has nothing to do with the situation.

“If we are happy and the zone says they have rescinded their decision for him to resign fine he comes back whether we are happy or not he seats down as the chairman. If we are unhappy we cannot remove him because all of us come from different zones and states and like you know different states and zones make up PDP

That will help send a clear message to those South East leaders who are abusing their people for love for money. It will send a message that their, crime will be investigated in due time and there will be no hiding place for them. And that will also go to the rest part of Nigeria.

Search for power led me into occultism, Say Rev. Adegboye

Saturday, May 1, 2010

George Adegboye, President and Founder of Rhema Chapel International Churche with headquarters in Ilorin, Kwara State is one of the top_flight evangelists in Nigeria. Known for prophetic and peculiar anointing, especially at crusade grounds, his ability to quote the Scriptures copiously has endeared him to many Christians both in Nigeria and overseas. He is described as the living encyclopedia of the Bible.

Reverend George Adegboye:, the search for political, economic and social power led me into occultism

advertisement

Last week, Adegboye was in Lagos to commission one of the new branches of his thriving church, located in Shomolu area of Lagos, where he relived memories of his encounter with Christ, and how the search for power and money led him into occult world several years back and many more. This is Adegboye’s confession….

What’s happening here today?

We are inaugurating one of our branches situated in Shomolu, Lagos. Already, we have eleven other branches operating in Lagos here. This is the twelve branch we are establishing in Lagos. We started setting up churches in Lagos since 1991.

You were running a media outreach before now, what happened to that ministry?

We had the need to attend to other areas of my ministry. I had to attend to the building of our international convention centre in Illorin and also, attend to other things of importance like setting up outreaches overseas. That took away our attention and finances. But right now, we are planning to stage a come back to our media outreach in a big way.

Media outreach for us, is about going on air to preach the gospel. This time around, we want to be on several television stations as can give us prime air-time.

How did you derive the name the “working Bible?

I got the name, “working Bible” when I started traveling around the world preaching the gospel of salvation. The white people whom I came in contact with, while doing the work of God, had a way of describing the fascinating way I quote the scripture.

My ability to quote the scripture excellently earned me the name. They marvelled at it. The name has become synonymous with my ability to quote relevant portions of the scripture in line with whatever point or argument that I’m making while preaching the gospel.

What’s your belief?

We believe in the word of God, we believe in the influence of the Holy spirit. We believe in the resurrection of the death, we believe in the judgement of the sinner as well as the believer. We also believe in soul-winning and the study of the word of God.

I am a working miracle myself. If you hear my story, you will know that there’s God. I am a living expression of God’s miraculous power.

How? What’s your story?

Well, I was born about 53 years ago, precisely in Ofa, to the family of Mr and Mrs. Samuel Adegboye. My father was the Chief Executive of Education in the Northern part of the country. I had my early education in such places as Kastina, Kano, Borno and many other cities in the North.

I attended Ofa Grammar School from 1969 to 1973, where I completed my School Certificate Examination. I later proceeded to GSS, Okene, where I did my HSC from 1973 to 1975. I got admission to study at the University of Ibadan from 1975 to 1978, where I got my first degree and also, my Masters degree respectively.

I went into occultism because when my father died in 1973, it was believed that he was killed by some people who had diabolical powers.

So, I got myself involved in occultic practice as a way of protecting myself. And it was that bad. Between 1973 to 1980, I was involved in so many occultic practices. But God in his infinite mercies brought me out of the kingdom of darkness, to the point that I gave my life to Christ in 1980. And since then, I never looked back. That’s about 30 years ago.

I have been traveling all over the world preaching the gospel of salvation. I lectured at the Kwara State Polytechnic for two years before veering into full time ministry.

How did you meet Christ?

Reverend George Adegboye

I met Christ in a very strange way. When I was into occultism, I had nothing to do with the Bible. I didn’t meet Christ in the Church because I wouldn’t go to Church then, even if I was invited by someone. But on the day of my salvation, I was invited to a wedding ceremony by a close associate. I stayed away from the Church and made sure I had nothing to do with the Church.

At the wedding ceremony, the guests were singing, ‘Oh I love Jesus and He first Love me.” There and then, my entire body started trembling, God touched me and it was strange to me. I ran out of the Church building to a safe place. I was later taken to where I was to pass the night, I heard a still-voice that said to me, “Today is the day of salvation, now is the acceptable time.”

I quickly woke up and asked, “who could that be” but nobody replied me. I went back to sleep and the voice came to me the second time, and by this time, I could not resist the voice as I hesitantly approached my brother whom I was staying in his house to pray for me and perhaps, lead me to Christ. This, happened on the 28th of September, 1990, and since then till now, I have never looked back.

When some of your friends in the occult world heard of your encounter with Christ, did they come to trouble you?

You can be sure, some of them were shocked.

They thought I was joking. Some gave it different interpretation. Some said, probably because I had no money any more to drink as well as go to places where we used to go together, while many others said, it was long overdue because of the simple fact that if I don’t embrace Christ now, I may not live long to do that again. Many of them have since been converted and they are with us in the ministry till today.

They know I had more power than they had so they had to switch over to Christ. Because of my personal experience with Christ, I cannot afford not to be a good Christian. The first thing some of my friends wanted to do was to drag me back to the world and back into occultism. When they did not succeed, they joined me in the Lord.

What actually led you into occultic practice?

It was the search for political power, economic power and social power. It was the search for power that led me into that direction. I wanted power to protect myself, power to be able to influence others as well as control things around me.

That was what led me into the occultic world. But in the search for power, I discovered that there was no power in those things that I sought after. I also discovered that the only power that is real today is God’s power. I was into all kinds of occultism. I was into juju. I was I making a lot of charms. I did that a lot and was very strong in it. Let me share an experience with you.

On one occasion, I visited a witch doctor to prepare a charm for me. After preparing that charm, he looked at me and muted, “it’s only God in heaven who can make it work.” I told him I was disappointed, that having come to you to prepare a charm for me and you are now relying on God for your powers.

I told him it is better that I go to that God in heaven, instead of coming to patronise you. And he replied me in the affirmative, saying, “if you think it’s the wisest thing to do, I will advise you to go to Him.” Since then, I have come to realise and perhaps, preach to people that there’s no other power that’s above the power of God.

I encourage my Christian brethren to continue to look on to God, and with Him all things are possible. No man or witch doctor can give you power. Power is of God, and it’s only Him who gives power and takes away power.

AC chides OBJ, says statement on Jesus, blasphemous

Written by Adewale Ajayi

The Action Congress (AC) has described the statement credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, that not even Jesus Christ could organise free and fair elections in Nigeria, as blasphemous, uncouth and unbecoming of a self-acclaimed born again Christian

The party, in a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the painfully flippant and high insensitivity of the former president showed that he was stretching his fabled luck too far by blaspheming against Jesus.

The AC said, contrary to Obasanjo’s postulations, Nigeria was capable of organising free, fair and credible polls.“The 1993 presidential election was widely acknowledged to be free, fair and credible, and was not organised by a spirit, but by a human being, a Nigerian named Professor Humphrey Nwosu.”

The party said even though the election was annulled ,Nigerians have not forgotten Obasanjo’s role in the annulment, especially his statement that was meant to pull the carpet off the feet of the acclaimed winner, that Abiola is not a Messiah!,” the party said.

It noted that Obasanjo’s statement also trivialised the ongoing clamour for electoral reform, saying unless politicians were reformed, electoral reform will be meaningless.

“Again, we say Obasanjo got it all wrong by taking electoral reform on the superficial level. Our answer to him is that electoral reform is all encompassing. It involves strengthening institutions. Of course strong institutions will checkmate crooked as well as do-or-die politicians,” AC said.

N238M SCAM: Bank documents indicted Ogbulafor, others – ICPC

Written by Lanre Adewole

BANK documents allegedly detailing the deposits made for the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Vincent Ogbulafor and four others are now reportedly in the hands of the prosecuting Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which it said would be used as evidence in the N238 million corruption trial starting on Monday next week.

In the proof of evidence filed by the commission, unnamed managers of Zenith, Wema, Bank PHB and Ecobank were listed as witnesses against the accused by the commission.

The commission said that an unnamed manager/official of the Zenith Bank “would tender into evidence all financial instruments and records of Mr.

Emmanuel Okocha, as they relate to cheques issued by Emeka Ebilah and the payments made to Mr. B.C. Bosah. He would also tender into evidence the bank records of the 1st accused (Ogbulafor), showing lodgements from the money paid to the 1st accused by the 2nd accused.

“All other relevant documents including the mandate card of the 1st accused (Ogbulafor) would be tendered through him.”

The commission added that “Furthermore, all transactions with his bank as they relate to the different charges against the various accused would be tendered through this witness.”

Ogbulafor is the first accused in the charge sheet, Emeka Ebilah, second, Henry Ikoh, third, Jude Nwokoro, fourth and Emmanuel C. Bosah, the fifth accused.

The commission added that an unnamed representative of Ecobank Nigeria Plc “would tender into evidence all relevant financial records of the defunct Africa International Bank (AIB), which was used by the accused to clear cheques, received from the FGN as payment for the fictitious contracts. The crowd doesnt watch quality football they are more concerned with watching Arsenal win the Emirates cup.

Its expected since many people in Naija would argue and rather buy ABIBAS over GUCCI.

Have you wondered why Disney channel sells but discovery channel has few viewers

Old men with little brain would rather watch Tom and Jerry.

Someone was shown on TV who said an elephant is bigger than the MOON. Thats a representative of the IQ of the EPL followers

Note one thing that The Glamour and the management of EPL is more than La-liga
and the time they do show it on TV tells on the viewing,
