Umm, Jarus, your poll isn't working. I just cast my vote, but instead of showing the results, it says I must login or register. But I'm currently logged on, so why the message?

Hope you're not trying to do some Scientific 'Ringim' in here grin

Unfortunately Gbawe and Katsumoto = "split votes"

Not good for their fans. They should merge and form a mega-party with one candidate. grin

Poll is secret ballot system, results not visible even to us Mods. It becomes automatically visible at the expiration of the poll December 30.

Don't worry, once it shows 'log in blabla' your vote has been counted.

You said voting commences on December 16.

You started it too early.

Can you pull down the poll and wait till tomorrow?

Fantastic. That should be rig proof then.

Cast your ballot people; just do it! As I have done for the able and articulate OnlyTruth, the consensus candidate.   grin grin

2011 OFFICIAL POLITICS SECTION POSTER OF THE YEAR
As 2011 rolls to an end, we say thank you to everyone that has contributed to making this section tick in the outgoing year - from the active contributors to the passive readers even to the unregistered guest viewers.

As has become traditional on Nairaland, we are organizing this year's edition of OFFICIAL POSTER OF THE YEAR AWARD. For those who are new here, this event started officially in 2009 but that of Politics Section was not officially recognized in 2009 because of a flawed process. In the hotly contested 2010 edition, Dapobear won the prize, beating Katsumoto by one vote while Kobojunkie emerged 2nd runners-up: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-535083.0.html

Now it's 2011 edition? Who will take the prize? Will Dapobear retain it? Will Katsumoto do better? Or will the ever-present Kobojunkie stage a surprise comeback? Or will the new 'men of the moment' take the gong? You decide!

Rules:
1, Only 1 nomination per user
2, Any nominee that has been banned or warned twice this year will be disqualified
3, Moderator cannot be nominated in his/her section but may be nominated in other sections
4, Nominee must be active in the section
5, Nominee must be forum rule-abiding and not a trouble-maker(passionate defence of one's opinions is no trouble-making though)
6, Top 3 nominees will be up for poll for another 2 weeks, where the winner will be announced at the expiration of the voting
7, Where there is tie, the mod reserves the right to either choose one or extend the nomination/voting by 24 hours

NOMINATION ends on December 15, 2011
VOTING starts December 16, 2011 and ends December 30 where the winner will be announced.

Start nominating

UPDATED 15 DEC 2011
BRIEF CITATION OF THE FINALISTS

1, GBAWE: Gbawe joined Nairaland in 2009 but hugged limelight in 2011 in the heated run-up to 2011 elections - one of the most epochal periods in the history of Nairaland Politics Section. He started as a strong defender of Ribadu candidacy but went beyond to be the strongest defender of ACN and their leader, Bola Tinubu, on Nairaland. He writes well and presents his arguments with logic. He is not known for insulting - a quality that is scarce in this part of Nairaland. He argues passionately about his convictions. For this he commands a good following in the Politics Section of Nairaland, especially among the 'progressives' and 'opposition'.

2, ONLYTRUTH: Recently crowned Eze Ndigbo Nairaland, Onlytruth has been on Nairaland since 2009 and has become the rallying point for his people. He is more known for his defence of his people, but unlike many others, does so without breaching the rules - a quality that is rare on Nairaland.

3, KATSUMOTO: Katsumoto is the only finalist last year that still made it to the final again this year. He lost the award by one vote to Dapo-bear in 2010. Highly respected on the politics section for his analytical prowess and debating skills. He is very visible in serious topics, marshaling facts to buttress his arguments. His choice of words in his comments is another strong point for him. Katsumoto's main turf are arguments that border on Igbo, Biafra and related issues. He is a respected voice in those areas.

Lol.

Hmmmnn, Dayo, how you see that one? Na wa o.

Ok. My apologies. We thought the counting of votes was going to be more time consuming. But with an improved process(counting from time to time) it was a lot easiier, hence the commencement of second stage mmediately. Immediately.
Re: *~ Gbawe Voted The Politics Section Poster Of The Year *~ Congratulations by ektbear: 8:15pm On Dec 15, 2011
It looks like there is a decent chance that this politics section poster of the year will become a bit of a joke.

I wouldn't ordinarily comment on stuff like this while it is in progress, but before you vote you must ask yourself, is this person truly amongst the best posters on this particular forum of NL?

Does this person represent the best reasoning, the best arguments, and the sharpest ideas in this forum? If you were to compile a list of the "best posts/threads of NL", is this person's name going to show up heavily?

Ah well. Nigeria in general has difficulty recognizing quality and talent, so perhaps not too surprising that Nairalanders would struggle with the same.

If you decide to vote a monkey or a piece of toilet paper as your best poster of the year, that too is your prerogative. It won't make the monkey/toilet paper look bad of course, but it sure as hell will make you look bad.

Talks are underway on the possibility of an alliance between Progressive candidates Gbawe and Katsumoto.

To present a common front.

Jarus in the event that two candidates decide to ally togther, What would happen? would you delete the name of the candidate from the polls or add their votes after 30th?
Re: *~ Gbawe Voted The Politics Section Poster Of The Year *~ Congratulations by baksonlee: 8:32pm On Dec 15, 2011
Message to all progressives, Gbawe is the consensus candidate, dont split the progressive votes.

After the voting Can the moderators view who voted who and disqualify votes of any poster who probably registered between now and 30th

This is to guard against multiple registration and voting

That word 'progressive' make me laugh. You have a good suggestion about deleting new users. In this world of 'scientific rigging' one has to be careful
