A 54-year-old driver of the chairman of an outsourcing firm located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State, is in trouble after a sex worker allegedly fled with his boss’ Kia Sorento sports utility vehicle valued at N5.4m.

The prostitute, identified only as Nina, reportedly fled with the vehicle at a filling station in Ikoyi immediately the driver, Victor Dossa, came down to fuel it.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that Dossa, who lives on Ikoyi Crescent, usually took the vehicle to his house after taking his boss home at the close of work.

It was gathered that Dossa drove the vehicle to Obalende around 11pm to convey Nina to his house, perhaps to have fun together overnight.

It was learnt that as they were returning home, Nina drove the vehicle and suggested that they stopped at a nearby filling station to buy fuel.

While Dossa came down from the vehicle to monitor how the fuel being bought was being dispensed, Nina zoomed off.



The case was said to have been reported to the police at the Onikan Police Division and the driver was arrested.

Dossa, who hails from Benin Republic, reportedly told the police that he first met Nina in the Obalende area a week before the incident.

He said

, “I was brought to Nigeria in 2004 by the company chairman. I work with him as a driver in charge of the Kia Sorento SUV with the number plate, BDG 644 BJ. Whenever I closed from work, I parked the vehicle in my house. The following day, I would go and pick my boss from his house to the office.

“My boss did not come to the office on August 17, 2018, so the vehicle was in my house throughout. Around 11pm, I drove it to Obalende to pick a sex worker whom I met a week earlier. I only know her as Nina.

The Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, South West Zone, Alhaji Yakubu Suleiman, disclosed this while receiving another batch of of 153 Assisted Voluntary Returnees (AVR) brought back by IOM from Libya on Friday.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says no fewer than 9, 822 Stranded Nigerians were assisted back home by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) from 10 different countries in 18 months.

The Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, South West Zone, Alhaji Yakubu Suleiman, disclosed this while receiving another batch of of 153 Assisted Voluntary Returnees (AVR) brought back by IOM from Libya on Friday.

He said majority of the returnees were from Libya with about 8,657 voluntary returnees, while others were brought back from Niger, Mali, Morocco, Liberia, Burkina Faso, France, Ireland, Austria and Poland made up the remaining balance.

Suleiman explained that IOM had been working with NEMA and other federal agencies towards giving the returnees appropriate humanitarian assistance since the exercise started.

According to him, the returnees were brought back between April 2017 and September 2018.

“The IOM analysis of the exercise reveals that out of the total figure, 59 per cent of the returnees are males and 41 per cent are females.

“Further analysis shows that out of the above, 57 per cent are adult males, adult females consisted of 37 per cent , minor males are three per cent and minor females are also three per cent,”he said.

Suleiman said 215 of the women returned under various stages of pregnancy while 214 males and 141 females had various degree of medical challenges.

He also disclosed was that there were 59 males and 52 females unaccompanied minors while about 24 males and 174 females need psychosocial first aid.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new batch of returnees arrived at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at 1.05 a.m. on Friday.

The Nigerians, comprising of 97 males and 56 females, arrived aboard a Libyan Airline with registration No: 5A-DMG and flight No: BRQ 189.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, declared a sit-at-home protest across the states in the South-East and some states in the South-South to mark the one year anniversary since their leader Nnamdi Kanu disappeared after his home was invaded.

IPOB members in Bata, Equatoria Guinea, also decided to join in the protest, even though they do not do business in Nigeria, and they’ve taken to social media to share photos of their locked shops to show their support for IPOB members in Nigeria.

The sit-at-home protest comes exactly one year after the Nigerian Army invaded the Afaraukwu, Umuahia country home of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. Since the invasion on September 14, 2017, Nnamdi Kanu has not been seen and his whereabouts remain unknown.

His parents have also not been seen since then.

The pain of initiation became too much for a newbie cultist who went to hide in his mother's nest in order to escape more suffering.

A newbie cultist who could not withstand the pain of initiation has relocated to his mother’s house to hide. The mum lives in Jakande Estate, Lagos where gang members visited in a bid to capture the runner.

Punch News gathered that the group are members of “The New Black Movement of Africa, a faction of Aiye Confraternity”.

Their swing to the community inspired a feeling of anxiety in the hearts of residents reportedly robbed of valuables.

While the gang members beats up the new recruit at his mother’s nest, she manages to inform the police who were able to arrest 11 gang members.

“What could have passed as an ordinary initiation into a newly formed confraternity named, The New Black Movement of Africa, a breakaway faction of the Aiye cult, turned sour when one of the recruits, who couldn’t endure the torture and other initiation rites he was subjected to, bolted for his dear life and ran to his mother’s house in Jakande Estate, Ajah, Lagos.

“Miffed by the apparent show of cowardice by the intending recruit and the fact that he may give them up to the police, the group chased him to his mother’s residence and began to beat up everybody in sight.

They also robbed residents of the estate who were woken up by their noise.

“Unfortunately for the group, the mother of the runaway boy, sneaked out of the house and placed a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer of the Ilasan division, CSP Onyinye Onwuamaegbu, who led a police team to the estate and arrested 11 members of the group,” CSP Chike Oti tells Punch.

Unlawful societies can expect more resistance from the Lagos state police command.

Its commissioner CP Edgal Imohimi has confirmed commitment in a bid to ensure peace is able to rain in the state.

Kenya’s immigration department has said a Chinese man will be deported after a video emerged of him making racist comments.

The man, indentified as Liu Jiaqi, was captured in a video calling all Kenyans, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, “monkeys”.

The authorities have revoked his work permit and say he will be deported on “racism grounds”. An employee filmed Mr Liu, who is a motorcycle trader, saying that he disliked Kenya because it “smells bad and [its people are] poor, foolish and black”.

When the employee asked why he wanted to stay in the country, the trader said he was only there to make money.

Police arrested him hours after the video was circulated online on September 5th.

According to the BBC’s Anne Soy in Nairobi, the immigration department says they are processing the deportation.

Mrs Akeredolu made this known in Akure at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Summer Boot Camp 4 Girls Naija.

The Ondo State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu, has distributed 400 Microsoft laptop computers to some girls on two weeks ICT and solar technology training in the state.
Mrs Akeredolu made this known in Akure at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Summer Boot Camp 4 Girls Naija.

She said she had never been more hopeful of a better Nigeria than this moment, seeing 400 girls ready to “change our story and make us more visible on the world map.”

She said although the two weeks rigorous training in ICT, solar technology and life-enhancing skills was over, the girls had many years of impacting the world and making it a better place.

The governor’s wife said: “the baton has been placed in your hands; your race now begins.

“I must warn you that there will be challenging times, but you should know that this boot camp has equipped you with all that you need to overcome them all.

“Girls, to rise up to the task ahead, you must put all you have learned here to practice; mentor many more girl children and build a formidable network of change agent.”

Mrs Akeredolu commended those who contributed in one way or the other to the success of the 2018 Summer Boot Camp 4 Girls Naija.

She described the contributors as great giants upon whose shoulders the girls would stand to see further and create lasting development in Nigeria and the world at large.

“You have given a head start to the girl child and indeed the marginalised of the society and pitched their tents in the court of great visionaries,” she noted.

She called on Nigerian to endeavor to help children in various communities without waiting for government support.

The Representative of Microsoft Nigeria, Mr Olusola Amosan, commended the First Lady for the initiative, saying it would enable the girls to prepare themselves for a better tomorrow.

Amosan said the two weeks training had exposed the girls to many applications in computer, which they could use to better their lots in a legitimate manner.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training was the second edition since Mrs Akeredolu assumed office of the first lady of Ondo state.
