Ibime: Have you ever seen me, Ibime, talking about tackling stats as a mode for comparing players in my 10 years on Nairaland?
You mean someone with common sense will see a 90 minute match with all the possession turnovers going on in midfield and think 3 tackles per match tells the story of all of that?
My exasperation with Nihilist is that I've told him many times that such stats do not even come into my assessment, yet he keeps trying to analyse them with me. It's like hitting my head against a brick wall. Like I said, such stats are just indicators of style of play, not of efficiency.
I mean, who can tell me that Felipe Luiz is a better dribbler than Riyadh Mahrez? Dribbling like tackling is something they record 3 dribbles per game. Even Messi, 3 dribbles per game. Please we should learn to leave rubbish for LAWMA and debate intelligently. These kind of yarns always annoy me because in this case I wasn't even talking to you. I was responding to lordfalcao and you quoted me. When I hit you with facts, you changed it to 'go an ask Conte' yarns When I asked what Matic does, instead of giving me concrete answers, you listed running stats and said that he leans on players like Michael Bolton. It's not my fault that you don't understand the terms that Whoscored and Opta use. See their definition of dribble here Dribble (Successful Dribble) - Taking on an opponent and successfully making it past them whilst retaining the ball The Dribble that you see there is the dribble that is successful. Mahrez attempts more dribbles than Filipe Luiz...the difference is Mahrez is doing his dribbling in heavily marked zones surrounded by defenders and midfielders and is often tackled and fouled. Luiz is at the back or outwide dribbling past the opposing wingers with little Marking. At the end of the day, the dribbling analogy is irrelevant anyway and just another way you want to obfuscate the issue. Matic's best season ever in England coincides with his season high tackling numbers so I don't understand why you're trying so hard to divorce Matic from tackling responsibility. OK what is it that Matic actually does sir?

Ibime: This is individual style of play, not team system.
Unless you want to go and sign Idrissa Gueye, you can see that most midfielders tackle less than Matic.
If Wanyama come to Chelsea, he would still tackle less than Matic because everytime Wanyama tackles, they give him yellow card.
It is those small players like Kante and Idrissa that launch themselves into tackles. If a big guy like Wanyama or Matic slide tackle you, he can break your leg and referees wont favour it. They have the strength and body size to shade you off the ball without needing to tackle.
That's why I don't like discussing yeye stats like tackling. This isn't true. That 2014/15 season Matic attempted and completed more tackles than anybody else in the league - including defenders, midfielders and strikers So everything in your post is already out of the window. The only thing that has changed is that we went a bought a guy in Kante who is a master at tackling ( see his stats below) Now that Matic cannot offer us tackles again since his boss is doing that? What else is Matic bringing to the table? The answer is nothing, because he's just a big for nothing fool. He makes less than a key pass a game so he's not creating chances. He makes fewer passes than Kante so he's not controlling possesion. Okay maybe Kante does the tackling and Matic blocks passing lanes to intercept passes - na lie, Kante makes more interceptions than Matic too. We might as well just play 3 3 4 with only Kante in midfield and squeeze in another attacker cos Kante is doing all the work anyway!

Ibime: This is all based on style of play. Idrissa Gueye is the same. He wasn't in EPL 14/15 but he's top 10 on the list. I know Gueye wasnt here back then, but I deliberately did not mention him to avoid style of play excuses. It's like I said to you last week. Matic and Kante play in the exact same system now From the Tackle numbers we can see that Kante is clearly doing the work that Matic used to do for Fabregas. So what is Matic doing? If we look at our last game, the answer is 'not a lot'

lordfalcao: Premier League tackles since 2014-15 season
N'Golo Kante - 253*
Erik Pieters - 252
Nemanja Matic - 252
Cesar Azpilicueta - 251
Victor Wanyama - 249
Nathaniel Clyne - 248
Claudio Yacob - 244
Idrissa Gueye - 237
Fernandinho - 236
Gareth Barry - 232 Matic should be ashamed. Kante wasn't even in England in 14\15 season and he still out tackled him. |

Highlights of the match so far.... if I ever need a class on how to form a "senseless and irrelevant opinion on even events that I had not witnessed?" I guess I may need to come to you for lessons then oh master! Here you are on the pages of a faceless forum salivating and jerking off to the profile of a fellow grown man like yourself who doesn't even know you exist....
Since your ambition in life is to become Pogba's lover, I can as well say you would never make it in this world - Even if Dablord were to be gay (which i very much doubt), it's highly unlikely for him to even check out an unintelligent, miserable, scruffy-looking lowlife like you.
You are not just pathetic and hopeless....You are also a shameless, homoerotic dumbfuck without any iota of dignity whatsoever!! And yes I would rather have pogba embedded in my rectum(according to you) rather than having those of js3 boys embedded in yours as you prefer......at least I would get paid in sterling rather than in sweets! I really thought you were a _bitch when I saw your highly irrational, emotional and misguided comments and crosswords this morning on my posts...maybe you should think of adding an f next to your moniker...Lord knows you have got the attitude down to a T, It is now I truly believe that maybe you must be suffering from some form of pre-menstrual tension to be making such stupid points and observations this fine morning! You are the one who needs to give up on punditry if all you watch out for during Man Utd's games is Pogba's blockos... grin
Go and change your soiled pampers biko- spèrm is dripping from your enlarged rectum.. |

Next time, calm the fùck down and follow the sequence of posts before rushing to post a meaningless, senseless and irrelevant opinion...
Pogba' s non-challant attitude was being criticized - an issue that has been a problem (regardless of his "good performances" against Minnows like Hull, Burnley etc), yet you came here with a contribution that's way off the mark.

Or for ibra to keep doing Kung fu kicks instead of trying to toe poke a goal or even attempt to scam the lines man with an offside goal? Or for rooney to completely miss a ball 5 yards from the keeper?

Elxandre: The goat here is Mourinho for benching Martial for moronic reasons. You'd think Rashford was Pele with the whole "Martial needs to play better than the other" mantra. Martial was the key needed in many of our useless draws.
I've also said it many times, Carrick is not needed if we are to play fast tempo football. Heck we started the season strongly without him! He and Pogba slow the midfield down.
Just start Pogba Herrera Mata Martial Miki and see if we won't win most of these 'tight' fixtures. Whenever Michael Carrick is left out of the Manchester United team social media declares him the best thing since the sliced loaf. That award seems to have been handed to Anthony Martial tonight. Ronaldinho took home 6 prostitutes before the Newcastle game in 2007/08 season, but still scored a hatrick, but Pogba isn't even allowed to dance? someone shouldn't dance because his team is 6th?

raumdeuter: Aguero can be very static his style of striking is getting outdated. A man who stays forward waits for service but has a high conversion rate. Staying up there and waiting for service nowadays wont cut it anymore
A good Aguero is great to have, an off form Aguero is a liability and has no positives at all. Ask Argentina Aguero is not off form. Pep has refused to play Aguero as a pure striker. He wants Kun to be pressing all over. Where did G.Jesus play today? 9? 10? 11? He's been everywhere. Aguero is a 9. That's his job. Even in this crappy season with injuries suspension and so on, Aguero has 15 goals in all comps. 11 in the league. That pressing is the issue not Kuns ability. Aguero is probably in top 3 pure number 9s in the game today |
