I beg to differ. A bit. Cartoons have gone beyond "it's a child's thing" in Nigeria. Everybody watches it. Look at d Area Cartoons? Then other guys are beginning to sprout as well and in my opinion, they have improved animations. But Area seems to understand d market more. Wether we like it or not, Animations take time. In dat time you'll be animating, what will keep you glued? What takes care of your needs? I learnt animations buying fuel all through to fuel my Gen and that's close to seven years. These things are not as easy as we think it is. Its a project that might last over a year or more. During dat time, how do you fend for yourself? When we ignore basic things as small as this and reality begins to set in, the project will be going to look in the angle of abandonment, then failure. Things have to be done in the right order.

Maybe we can start with crowdfunding or meet rich young guys for funds. Perhaos if they see the passion in us they would invest...

Honestly let us tell ourselves the truth, even if we manage to start creating really amazing 3d cartoons in Nollywood it will go a long way, but not like that of Hollywood. Why? Because here in Nigeria the only people who majorly watch cartoons are the children and some teens and a few young adults. Majority of the adults do not watch cartoons and these are the people with the cash. Unlike in the foreign countries where majority of the population watch and appreciate these cartoons. What am I saying?, if we are to make a CGI break through in Africa and Nigeria in particular then our main target is how to integrate it with our Movies. We have to start making high Sci fi movies that require both 3d modeling and animation, something that can appeal to the majority. Am not saying that we should not do 3d cartoons oh what am saying is that if we want to have a break through we should focus on Sci fi movies.

Not just scifi films, horror and fantasy films too...

Integrating CGI into movies might be the clusterbomb of success for cgi artist in nigeria..i mean we have lots of witches, obanjes and general evils to model, animate, simulate and render for the audience. And do u know that a film about our traditional paranormals might sell more than one about scifi concepts....just thinking aloud sha

We should start off somewhere.

Look at America with practically no original witch/evils outdoing us.

And its a lot cheaper to Do CGI integration sef than full 3d cartoon. Cheap on render times, and scale.

Id just watch a South African movie about a female robot falling in love with a Farm Scarecrow. They had to converse and mingle with live action actors...
