Politics › Re: How Can One Legally Own Fire Arm In Nigeria? by nijabazaar: 8:25pm On Aug 29, 2016 |
Jakumo: This write up is a fascinating work of fiction that is totally incorrect, from the standpoint of ballistic reality. Clearly the writer of this factually erroneous description has never owned a real gun in his life, but hopes to impress similarly unenlightened readers by baffling them with bullchit accumulated from playing video games and watching old war movies.
A pump action SHOTGUN unleashes a horrific flesh-mangling blast at point-blank ranges within 20 yards, BUT, those pellets only possess a MAXIMUM lethal range of 50 yards at best. Any target beyond 50 yards that is hit by shotgun pellets has a very good chance of escaping with small pellet wounds, and at ranges beyond 100 yards, shotgun pellets may not even retain sufficient energy to penetrate clothing. As a hunter who has used a pump action shotgun to down quarry ranging from fast-flying birds to sprinting deer, I happen to know what I am talking about, from personal experience over many, many years.
A rifle projectile, on the other hand, is capable of blasting gaping holes in flesh, and shattering bone, all the way out to 1 kilometer downrange, depending on the caliber of the projectile fired. The venerable AK47, chambered with the 7.62x39mm cartridge, is a devastating weapon capable of precision fire out to ranges in the region of 80 yards, beyond which accuracy drops off significantly, unless of course the rifle is fitted with a telescopic sight that improves accuracy, such that 200 yard shots can be attempted by steady-handed shooters. My .308 caliber deer rifle, fitted with a high magnification telescopic sight, will make clean deer kills well out beyond 350 yards, when fired from a stable resting position.
Having thoroughly tested the accuracy of an AK47 rifle at the firing range where many crates of ammo were expended at paper targets, I can lay claim to a very deep familiarity with the AK, going beyond mere shooting, and into the realm of complete disassembly and reassembly, which I perform blindfolded with ease, meaning that my observations about this weapon ALSO derive from EXTENSIVE hands-on experience, and not wild, uninformed speculation.
Before taking to the internet to make outlandish claims about subjects one does not truly understand, it would be prudent to bear in mind that not everyone in the targeted audience is guaranteed to be as profoundly ignorant as the pontificating writer. His piece might be a fascinating work of ficton but the theme or the message is inbtwn the lines.....the call to arms against the Northern invaders. |
Politics › Re: How Can One Legally Own Fire Arm In Nigeria? by nijabazaar: 7:30am On Aug 29, 2016 |
papaejima1: Yea, a pump action is the koko against a Fulani invader. I even prefer it to the AK47 in home defence. While the Ak seems invincible in the hands of an attacker due to its automatic and rapid fire feature, its accuracy is just about 100yrds. The pump action in contrast can do a 300-400 yard shot but its accuracy is not what I am interested in, it is its ability to spit up to 9-20 pellets in the general direction of any invader that I find inviting.
When the invaders come, just put yourself in an area where you won't be hit by direct fire, then draw your box of cartidges close, load up, raise you gun point it in the general direction and let loose. If you can get the 8 round semi auto version then bros you are on the gravy train. With one shot you can fell both the invader and several of his cows!
It is popularly believed that the distinctive sound of a pump action being cycled carries an inherent deterrent effect.
Do anyhow, see anyhow! i like u already. Your piece is as delicious as the feel of a bullet. I can picture me taking down cows...not just cows. I picture me avenging that cut up pregnant woman with the unborn baby. I would be immensely satisfied if i can just see smoke wiffs trailing the end of my pump action Nigger as bullets cut down cows...not just cows. |

reidkrugger: All diz r valid inputs but lets get real here. If mktrs can only dole out btw 5 to 20M for a film wi abt 2 to 4 known stars n evriothr tin includg wrappin up within a mth then hw do u xpect them to pay 100animators, 30modelers, evri1 down to samuel l jackson n halle berry? Yeah, dats wat i tot, it aint hapnin. Blockbusters takes alot to happen n sadly our animations r stil crappy. How many animators do u think dis country can boast of in total? Now, how many of them r blockbuster good? U stil hv egos n sentiments to deal wi along d line dat kills creativity. The only way out is to start on ur own on a small scale n ofcourse u'll need funds maybe upto 20M but once thr, d financiers will start beggin for a piece of d pie. But, u hv to b incredibly good as hell, at least beta dan most of dz tins i'm seein or mayb nickelodeon's level. Dats how disney n warner started in d 1930's. Dats d only way out. Any1 into animations here shld undrstnd dat d mkt he seeks is majorly outside dz shores. Dats whr d money is. I think the solution to that is....outsource. becus there are not enough talents in animation here does not mean that a producer cant import animators. The blender institute in Netherlands has a reservoir of inhouse animators and riggers, they are their mostly as freelancers, a producer could easily wire them down here and they could work and impact requisite skillsets with local 3d guys here on a production set. same thing with the French institure of animators....they are mostly there for hire. N.b i ve not even mentioned the small small companies scattered around hollywood. a producer who really wants to do something just needs a good story like Felixchip said and some 5 million dollars and voila an animated feature could be done. Sintel was done with less than 5 milla with freelance animators. The animators and riggers in that flick werent even more than 8 and were paid less than $8000. |

julimax: But you can always have a staring point and improve on it with time. Go back and watch "living in bondage" and see how we've come. I like this....they should just experiment and produce anythang, even if crap. Your analogy with Livin in Bondage is so apt, The crap one produces today wll be the founding blocks for the Zootopia of tomorrow. Maybe i should do some crowd funding? Initiat a group for all 3D guys on NL to bound their talents together. I often liken myself to that guy in Big Hero 6, who hangs out with the science guys, though he knows notin about science. I am interested in 3D films but i cant use 3D softies but that does not mean we shouldnt make money with it. what happens to hiring outside help sef. these producers should go to China and India and produce animations on the go (a matter of three months will have Chinese animators doing ur stuff) There x money in this thing!!! |
Art, Graphics & Video › Why Cant Nollywood Make Animated Blockbusters? Are We That Lazy? by nijabazaar(op): 10:53am On Aug 09, 2016 |
The season’s biggest hit, Finding Dory, while surprise smash The Secret Life of Pets all approached $900 million dollars....That these hits are animated, along with Zootopia’ huge $1bn take in March, indicate that children remain the most reliable demographic when it comes to film, why then is Nollywood not cashing in.
Animation is a huge money spinner and yet no producer wants to venture into it. WHY?
There are talented animators, modellers and riggers in Nigeria even on NL sef, i see them aplenty. why cant they be harnessed?

HurtgenForest: The northerners are very few on nairaland compared to the number of Igbos & Yorubas here.
Your submissions are right. Southerners prefer to live in the 'Sabon Garis' in the north where you find a huge number of Christians.
The northerners have no value for human life and can start killing southerners for a cartoon done in faraway Denmark.
Personally, I relate with Yorubas like my brothers & sisters and I have no issues with them at all. They come to my house a lot and I welcome them and we dine together.
On nairaland, I am a completely different person. same thing here.....if my words can evicserate someone it would be on Nl but outside i'd rather eat Snake than call someone Afonja |
