It is because some go to church to worship God, not man, that they are able to call Oyedepo exactly what he is: an arrogant, unrepentant, abusive man. That evaluation is objective based on his public conduct on the slap-the-witch matter.

Faith cannot be strengthened by keeping quiet in the face of so public an abuse; your inability to answer the direct question to you tells something about you. You need to fix yourself first before attempting to 'fix' others.

The point isn't about cursing any so-called man of God.

The point, in the specific case of Mr. Oyedepo, who uses the title of Bishop, is to seek redress for abuse accomplished at the altar.

His public silence outrages reason, and we detest people who behave like that; it does not matter whether they claim the title of Bishop, Reverend, Pope, Professor, Dr., Imam, etc etc. We find it even more annoying, since Mr. Oyedepo's reputation derives exlcusively from his association with a being a purity, and because he claims to be in the business of saving souls.

Mr. Oyedepo not only physically abused a probably disturbed young woman, he also condemned her to hell, and then went on to boast about the physical abuse months later; this is man with no moral compass, with no ability to think clearly, and with no compassion; this is not the message of Jesus the Christ. Mr. Oyedepo betrays his true self, asking - like a slighted bully - 'Do You Know Who You're Talking To'? - This is the stuff thugs: political thugs, touts, so-called Money-Miss-Road (wo)men, mafia enforcers, etc etc are made of; 'Do You Know Who You're Talking To'?

This is why we don't respect him, among other things; nothing personal. IF he does the right thing, some of us may condier him worthy of respect. No, we do not enjoy this exertion; we are outrged by the behaviour of man who perceives himself beyond law: neither the law fo the land, nor the law of Christ.

This also links back to why Mr. Oyedepo must be resisted: he's an unapologetic abuser of at least one young girl; why should we expect less of those who see him as god?
