dademola: bros... I hav only 2 questions for u. 1) hw many league games did ando/cleverely play?? 2). U'd agree with me dt for most teams to be successful, a 1st choice CB pairing is needed, isst it?? Following ur analogy of defenders and midfielders combining, what wld ur 1st choice CB and MF pairing be, under normal circumstances??
The few matches they played together evidenced my assertion, although we conceeded goals but the wins were the most important, basically, they played fews matches together before injuries set in.

I prefer a 'fit' Vidic and Smallings/Jones, while Anderson and Cleverly will be at the middle, those guys are crazily fast, a certain smalling will do the dirty job while the 'man of steel'(Vidic) will do the clean and maybe some rough cover-up for smalling. Ferdinand shoulda been in the show, but he is off, he is using experience garnered over the years, he is getting slower everyday.

Bonus:Without any signings, then, Nani and Young/Valencia will man the wings, Evra and Rapheal/Jones(it depends on who pairs with Vidic) at the LB and RB and finally a Van-Persie and Rooney/Chicha/welbeck combo will lead. Carrick will always come in later in the game.

Nb: I believe that can beat any club in the premier league.

dademola: @cooger; pls stop dis ando/cleverely hype. Like elampiro pointed our, hw many games did dey play 2geda?? R u now saying u'd hav left carrick on d bench, just to play d 2 of em, if u were a coach??
To be candid, there is sense in what he is saying, both (anderson and cleverly) combined well in the mid-field in most of the matches they played, one thing is that when they are on pitch, then fast/agile/workaholic/rugged defenders are needed, like smalling, jones and maybe Vidic, the reason is not far-fetched, it isn't always easy for them (anderson and cleverly) to fall back, but ferdinand and Vidic or Evans combo behind won't ever work, if the latter combo is to be employed, then carrick must be on the pitch.

Rooney has been vital too, he would fall back in many occassions to help out esp. when possession is lost, but his shakara coupled with recent 'not scoring' form has made all to be pissed off, I saw many comments on a facebook page today and I wasn't surprised at the abusive and dissapointing comments fans and supporters made about him, so baaaaaddddd!

gbosaa: Did you watch the match?...you seem to be rating them out of emotion..

Echiejile did very well,i,ll rate him only third to mikel and omeruo. He should get at least 6..last night was one of his best games for nigeria.

Musa should get 6.5..He was full of pace and really troubled the uruguan defence.had some good crosses as well.

Oduamadi...6...
Please, what are you saying? That Musa should get 6.5? Definitely you listened to radio live commentary! The boy made some stupid and senseless runs yesterday, he lost possessions easily, I need not say more cos he has been like that since.
Oduamadi never did play anything as such before he got injured, so a 6 will be an OVER.

The ratings are correct jare.

Jarus: We are technically out of this tournament even if we beat Spain.

If we beat Spain, best result, 3-1. We will be on 6 points, +6 goal difference. Spain will be on 6 points, +9 goal difference. Uruguay will only need to beat Tahiti 6-0.

Even with that most generous assumptions, we won't qualify.

Of course, me and you know we can't beat Spain 3-1.

So it's as good as we are out.
Thanks for being realistic here jare, meanwhile, I like that word 'technically'. We always like using calculators made for complex and realistic problems, for making permutations that are not ideal.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Vs Uruguay - Confederations Cup: (1 - 2) On 20th June 2013 by nitrogen(m): 1:54am On Jun 21, 2013
When Forlan got that ball, I shouted 'goal' cos Diego is a world class striker, please look at the strike again, I don't think any keeper can do something as regard that. You don't give forlan and Cavanni space, they will tear the net, both can play curve-shots from any angle. So don't blame the keeper, blame the SE's centre forwards that didn't position themselves well enough to receive passes, and the useless and weightless Musa that was like a piece of paper on the pitch today.

So even if your calculator is as advanced as a Texas BA 11 calculator, it won't ever work out. But wait, can SE beat that spain, with those less than average player (CFs). Gbagbe e jooorrR!

Mikel was just too slow today, he dulled our counter-attacks, ideye is a non-entity, he wasn't impressive at all, Musa plays and thinks with his manliness and not his head, he would loose possesion where he shouldn't at all, those them babatunde, Obu abi na Ugo, are not even up to average players. We played better, we possessed them, but those players listed up there spoilt our game. Ambrose, Echeijile, Obabona, Omuro and Mba only played well tonight.

Am sorry, all you hopefuls, we cannot go past this stage, it is simply IMPOSSI-CANT. Forget any calculations cos even if we beat Spain, Uruguay will kill Taiti.

elampiro: I guess with Chicharito who can't play except sit and wait in the box as we saw tonight when he hardly touch the ball up to 7 times? And indomie Kagawa who can't match a power or pacing match?
You just watch as events unfold, Kagawa is a newbie, watch out for him this new season, van-persie will do a great job, Nani will destroy/tear apart any defence, I believe Welbeck too is deadly (he just gat to improve his finishing touches), Chicharito will bury anything that resembles a football, we only need one or two nice midfielders that will support Carrick, while Anderson will do well too with his pace, power and long passes, Cleverly is a fantastic player too (although not that skillful).

Bros, forget, we have good players, abeg, 'Soilder come, Soilder go, Barrack go still remain o'. Let the traitor disappear. We are tired of him joor.

elampiro: If Rooney exits, without quality replacement like Fabregas or Aguero types, we will end up in the Totteham zone. We may even need two or three strong players to feel the vacuum to be left by his exit.
You are right, but not up to three players to fill the vacuum, even one will do sef.

Btw, na SAF Zap up, he built the team around him, made him to play in the mid-field esp. when we were in need of midfielders and he never did bring any in. Thank God he is gone, we need Giggs, Valencia(or just one year more for the one legged and non-creative lad) and Rooney to follow suit. Then Moyes should bring in one or two players, and we are good to go.

Give United two years (without Rooney and with Moyes getting it right), we will be champions of Europe once again!

elampiro: Look at Brazil vs Mexico.

Even if Chicha scores tonight, the number 10 man Dos Santos is the Mexican man tonight. His contribution is ten times more than Chicharito.

That's how to know what certain players contribute to team play.
And that did give them the result they wantedhuh?

Results are needed here and not contributions, mind you.

coogar: hahahaha, the facts are emerging...

rooney has played 345 games to van persie's 232 games and somehow people are surprised rooney has more goals/assists than RVP. 113 games more than van persie and people are comparing?

this argument is hilarious!
grin grin cheesy grin

To be candid here, Rooney is not a fantastic player like that jare, he supports, and does some nice work in the mid-field, but he isn't near a world class player (for now), he's been awful and he also looses possession anyhow, lastly, he is an ingrate. I wouldn't mind his exit so we can have a new/superb united squad.
