^^^^ hey! Don't even dare move an inch, I need to lecture someone tonight, you see, it is one thing to check dictionary for meaning of words, it is another to use those words correctly in a sentence.

Just do me a favour, give examples of how mediocre can be used in a sentence apart from 'a mediocre film, a mediocre food and others'

I await you o.
Career › Re: Oil Workers Zone. by nitrogen(m): 7:31pm On Jan 17, 2013
Well, I'm not so lazy to argue blindly without checking to my facts.
That was a quote (by Albert Camus who can be subject to error too) and not a dictionary or standard usage. Check any standard dictionary - Oxford, Longman, Webster, online free dictionary, etc. Mediocre is always an adjective. It's a common mistake by people to use it as a noun but now you know better! Phew!
You must be a joker, please the word is used as a noun in one and an adjective in the other.

Let me tell you this, a mediocre is someone in a state of mediocrity, that makes it a noun, meanwhile, it can also be a word for sub-standard or low quality things, which makes it an adjective.

So, my friend, it is you that have learnt today that it isn't a common mistake by people but an ignorance on your path.
Career › Re: Oil Workers Zone. by nitrogen(m): 7:15pm On Jan 17, 2013
See! Mediocre is an adjective, but it can be used as a noun, believe me,
Like:

'She is a mediocre artist'

And

'Idleness is only fatal to a mediocre'

So tell me your take on the two sentences.
Career › Re: Oil Workers Zone. by nitrogen(m): 7:01pm On Jan 17, 2013
^^^ You are a mediocre!!!!

BTW, can ask you this, 'who is a mediocre?'
Career › Re: Oil Workers Zone. by nitrogen(m): 6:44pm On Jan 17, 2013
When people correct grammatical errors, take a few minutes to check the dictionary or google it. Don't be so lazy! You have access to the internet to write the above, why not check online before coming here to display your ignorance?

me·di·oc·ri·ty - /ˌmēdēˈäkrətē/
Noun:
1. The quality or state of being mediocre
2. A person of mediocre ability
Please, are you a learner? For christ's sake, what are you spewing na?

From your post, it is quite clear that a person in a state of mediocrity is a mediocre while a mediocre is someone that is in a state of mediocrity.

Haha! I can't stop laughing ooooo

Might it interest you that, the level you think you are is just a starting point/level for a part 3 undergraduate! We have smarter and silent under-grads and graduates nowadays.

Nairalanders will never cease to amaze me.

Chai! See correct thread.

Seriously, we should agree with both of you (bluediva and kittykat), it is true that the smart and lucky chaps are the ones that get into the industry, but at the same time, one should not under-estimate, although the chance that a gateman can help get your CV to the right department is slim nowadays.

The best is to acquire the necessary certifications as rightly said by bluediva, prepare a very good CV, submit through their job portals or through someone influential, then pray to get called for aptitude test, after that, smartness and luck will make or mar the journey embarked upon. That concludes the matter.

Paulipopor: if you want to write PE1 in May, you should have started lectures first week in january. you can continue the lectures when you leave camp. The best time to register for the exam is first/second week in April, to avoid the late hour rush.

@Sesko AAA is not so difficult, i wrote it once too. You just need to read wide. I read from ICAN pack, Accounting Today (foreign) and attended lectures. Did lots of case study and thats all. I wish you guys the best.
That is the extensive reading/studying we are talking about, it is about leaving no stone unturned.

Btw, Sesko, I guess it is the late release of Nov diet results that is getting you tensed up, chill man! I believe the results will soon be out, and I feel that february till may is quite enough for proper preparations for the next diet given any condition.

Sekso: JARUS, sometimes you make some of us feel so dull with the way you over-simplify established areas of difficulty in the ICAN examinations.
I met you on a thread sometime ago where you stated that you studied for ICAN exam for 5 days and still earned yourself awards. Now, you are making people appear very foolish for taking AAA exam more than once.
I need you to understand that you may be operating at some level of genius and that does not make it criminal for others to fail where you passed with little or no effort. Its best you tell us the strategies you adopted to conquer the challenges of some tough courses like AAA rather than suggesting we are dumb. Patronage won't help here sir!
Perhaps you are part of the less than 10% who passed AAA in May 2012 diet. Either that, or you are on the same IQ level with them. Whatever your level of knowledge doesn't make it less shocking to have over 90% of candidates failing a Paper. To me, it is outrageous.
Regards!
Are you sure about the bolded? I don't think there is any established area of difficulty in ICAN, in fact in most Exams, so far the questions set are not outside the syllabi, I think it is about reading extensively.

No need to even tell you that ICAN lifts questions from their past examinations, so if one does his assignment very well, then there is 70% assurance that one will pass (With God).

PS. No offence meant, its just my one cent.

Seun: @manny4life: thanks for the suggestion, but I am a scientist at heart and I am always experimenting with different ways of doing things. Sometimes my experiments work out and the results are fantastic, and at other times they fail but I learn a lot. I will not short-circuit this learning process for the sake of maintaining a fake reputation. I will not live in fear of public disapproval. If I am bad, it is only fair to let people know that I am bad, so they can protect themselves. But I don't think I am bad. I really appreciate your concern for my reputation, though. Thanks!
what are you sayinghuh?? Nawa o, Seun, please go get someone to always do the talking on your behalf, I beg you cos you 'jabos' a lot.
Career › Re: How Do I Discover My Talent? by nitrogen(m): 3:15pm On Jan 04, 2013
Nice one, I think what you like to do or what you find pleasurable is your talent, all you have to do is to take cognisance of those things you do without being pressurised or coerced to do it or betterstill tell those around you to observe you and tell you what you always like to do (note that if you are still a kid or teenager, then the latter is okay, but as an adult or let's say someone above 20, then you need not to be told what you do best or like to do).

Now, a kid that likes dismantling electric stuffs, or someone that catches fun while crunching/dealing with numbers, or someone that can talk and talk and talk, like over a million words per day, and so on, these need not to be told their talents, but they are to be encouraged so that they can make use of them effectively and efficiently.

@op, I hope this helps, perhaps if you want to tell us those things, then we will tell you what next or how to develop that your talent(s).

Politics › Re: How PDP Can Win Lagos In 2015 by nitrogen(m): 10:08am On Jan 02, 2013
PDP is a useless party, they had 8 years to govern most states in the SW, but no good did come out of them, all they could do was to spend allocations recklessly and throw parties around with funds, at a point, the masses got used to it and when ACN tookover, complaints like 'no money outside, the govt is stingy and what have we' accompanied judicious spending. Quite pathetic.

As if the masses want those that will spray money all around thinking that is 'dividend of democracy', or they want those that won't be accountable and transparent, the people do not want to pay tax at all, non indigenes of many states(SW) esp. our SE brothers wants to do illegal businesses and go away with it (because it is quite evident that they are the ones advocating for the takeover of lagos by PDP), it is sad.

But let me tell you this, 'for the betterment or the development of SW states, we need other parties except PDP, enough is enough, their stewardship is not needed anymore and those that wants PDP back, forget it, people are beginning to wake up'.
