Alday:The pandemic has disrupted things from normal as we all know. So a place to isolate might not be that easy given that it is somewhat difficult to get a place when you are not in the country. The people here don't joke with their money like we naija people too. An alternative could be staying in one of those hostels for the duration of self isolation. This won't come cheap. Another way is to put up your request on this space and watch if any naija person who uses this site and has a room to rent will reach out to you. Also, avail yourself of rent.ie, daft.ie, the latter is more suitable for vacancies. Although you might not be able to access the sites with naija IP. So if you know away to use VPN, it will be fine. |

Nezzjnr:Multi million far o. It is more of a cliche. There is always a dynamic to courses. At the moment, it is more of software development et al that is selling. No body knows which will come next. Some will advice one to always go get the trending one. I don't share this school of thought though. Because paying tuition as an international student is not beans. And without making any return on the initial investment only to go ahead and invest further is not something I will encourage. Perhaps I am averse to such risks. |

I don't know if the Data Science or Cybersecurity curriculum contains coding since I am not in that field. Again, the story I painted is about Ireland. Are you in the IT space? |

Lajiniran:Hello, based on age, your wife is in a better position to be the PA. But she will need to do say CIMA, BCS or CIPM to make her educational qualifications be two or more certificates. Also, both of you will need to write IELTS and endeavour to max out (LRWS: 8.5, 8, 7.5, 7.5) - this might look like a tall order but it is doable. Worst case scenario, you two should attempt to max out 3 components of the IELTS. You also need to evaluate your MSc by the necessary evaluation body. Same is required of your wife. But let her make plans for the second certificate she will use to augment her BSc first before going ahead to evaluate hers. With this, you guys are looking at CRS around the region of 460+ which is not too bad to get ITA in future draws. Again, you two, after IELTS and ECA can create two profiles and make Adminstrative Assistant as your primary occupation as it gets nomination from Alberta province. Provincial nomination is not a bad one if you get it instead of putting all eggs in EE basket. So whoever gets ITA first will continue with the application between you two afterwards. I hope this answers your question. Cheers. 3 Likes |

ABDamola:You welcome, bro. Since you have agreed you don't understand the process, I will admonish you to revert to page 1 of this thread. Most of the information you need can be found there. It will do you a lot of good and also open your eyes and mind. 31 is fine. For the screenshot of the simulation you did, 7.5 is not desirable in listening for the IELTS. 8 should be the target at least. So have that in mind. Your simulation also doesn't seem correct. So do that again. Be mindful of Canadian education and work experience. Since you don't have it, you response to that should be no. Between, was your simulation done as a single applicant or married? Regardless, 480 is a good point assuming you did the simulation right. You can be sure you will get ITA with that within a short time of being in the pool as long as they do draws. Cheers. 2 Likes |

ABDamola:From your brief, it doesn't seem like you understand the Express Entry process. 1) Getting married before or after applying is a non issue. What matters most is for you both to have a competitive CRS point that would fetch ITA. That said, with your MSc, if you can max out IELTS, have at least 3 years of work experience in NOC 0, A or B, and not more than 30 years old, I have no doubt that you will stand a great chance of a high CRS point that would fetch you ITA asap. So beyond writing IELTS and doing credentials evaluation, play around with the CRS calculator to know who can be the principal applicant between you and your fiancee. Depending on who is younger. Age is a big factor in this journey. For IELTS, simulate with LRWS - 8, 7, 7, 7. Note that it is desirable if you can score higher than this in IELTS. Your spouse should also write IELTS and evaluate her OND and HND. She should also aim to score minimum of 8, 7, 7, 7 in her IELTS. Her evaluation will count as two or more certificates. So it is a plus. And for you, only evaluate your MSc degree. 2) If you choose to apply as a couple, marriage certificate is one of the documents you are required to provide. I hope this helps. Cheers. 3 Likes |

Sincerechic:Thanks for upvoting my admonition. On this space, some people can be rude to others. Cyber bullying sort of. But I frown at such. I work to prevent such. So I shouldn't be found wanting in same. I believe the reason people come here is to seek advice/respite. So no need compounding their woes. If one cannot offer any meaningful advice, it is important to simply overlook and pass. A fellow here once called me ignorant. I just pointed it to him on how that wasn't necessary. But you can't determine how people behave. One can just try to make them see why such behaviour could be toxic to others. Civility is something many people need to learn. It will go a long way considering many are making the move to live outside the shores of Africa. Thanks for your time once again. Cheers. 10 Likes |

moneybag007:Hi. This notion of IELTS being easy in one country to another might not be true. For instance, the reading and listening is standard. It is either right or wrong. So it leaves us with writing and speaking. Although the marking of this component of the test is subjective but there is sure a guideline they follow. Reason why there is EOR when one feels they deserve better than they have gotten. According to their policy, it is senior examiners that handle the EOR. So one can say it is fair to a large extent. And on you going to Dubai to take the test, I wouldn't encourage that especially when the aim of your trip to Dubai is just for the test. It is not necessary. Just a waste of resources. I did my IELTS in Europe. Took a few attempts before I got the needed score. At a point I was thinking it would be easier for me to pass it in Nigeria. I started contemplating if I should travel to Naija to take the test. But after critical evaluation, I realized that wasn't the solution given the economics. To cut the long story short, I did pass the test in Europe. I sat with a native speaker of the language and had 8.5 in speaking. So what the hell! My previous attempt (academic) in 2016 in Naija was a 6.5 in speaking. That said, what aspect of the test are you struggling with? What you need is the right formula. Especially in the writing part of the test. There are couple of resources out there that would help you understand the tricks on writing and speaking. Ieltsliz is one, E2 language by Jay is another. There is also a WhatsApp group by some gracious nairalanders here that delivers free writing tutorials. I will implore you to avail yourself the use of the latter as they review your writings and give feedback. The feedback is very good. It helps you understand where you are struggling or mixing things up. Without understanding what your weaknesses are, it won't make any difference even if you go take the test in Mars of Jupiter. Lol. Cheers. 12 Likes |

Wendyok:Hi. To your questions: 1) Writing IELTS by you two doesn't change anything in as much as you use your given name(s) to register for the test. So you know, IELTS is valid for 2yrs and changing your name at any point after you must have taken the test with a particular name doesn't invalidate the result you get from the test as long as you do your change of name legally and you have necessary documents to show for it. 2) You can add him to the process at anytime as long as you two are married legally (court wedding). But the thing is: if you add him before you get invitation to apply "ITA", your CRS point will reflect his position which in most cases will reduce. Except both of you are below 30, have MSc or "two or more certificates" and score the CLB 7 (LRWS: 8, 7, 7, 7) in your IELTS. In that case, your overall CRS must be high enough to fetch ITA once they start FSW draws again. But if you two get married after you must have submitted your eAPR - application, his addition won't reflect on your CRS point again. 3) On waiting to get married to start the process, that is definitely an option for you but the question of "time" is what you need to think about. ECA takes between 3 to 8 months to complete. IELTS is also there. So how soon can all of this be put together? Not to forget that when you submit your application, you will have to wait between 3 to 12 months again to be approved. I hope you can see reasons not to delay starting the process especially when you have the resources to deploy now? I will also advise you to read page 1 of this thread. Because the questions you raised here have been answered there by people at one time or the other. Reading that if you have not done so already will give you a better understanding of what is expected in this process. Cheers. 3 Likes |

Theta1:Hi. Do you already have the PhD or thinking about starting one? If "no", I think BCS would be more advisable given the relative short time it takes to complete compared to PhD. Between, before thinking of a PhD, I believe you must already have a Master's degree. So what exactly do you need PhD or BCS for if I may ask. 1 Like |

makano:BSc, ACCA, MBA etc can be evaluated but you will only get point for the MBA which is the highest qualification. People usually do CIMA, BCS and other certifications to augment their points. The point for combining two or more certificates e.g BSc + CIMA, OND + HND is higher than only BSc. And in this process, PhD carries the most point under educational attainment. Followed by MSc/MA/MBA and some professional degrees like Pharmacy, MBBS, and LLB (if IQAS is used in evaluating). With all this said, it is not important to evaluate your BSc, ACCA alongside your MBA as they won't add any extra point than what the MBA would bring. Also, the time you will use to get the transcript for BSc, ACCA from the awarding institutions to the evaluating body might prolong the evaluation time beyond necessary. Do you get this now? 3 Likes |

ghost3040:To the best of my knowledge, how you qualified for your degree is not something IRCC is interested in. What they are interested in is that you have the qualification and any education credential assessment body like WES, IQAS etc can evaluate it as Canadian equivalent to same degree that is obtainable in Canada. So all things been equal, your MBA should fly. And in this case, it is only your MBA you'll need to evaluate as it is your highest qualification. Cheers. |
