Hello everyone, yesterday he got a mail from BC that the result had been released with 9,9,6,8.5 in LRWS order. He was so sure of what he wrote.

Please is it possible to ask for a remark? Note he has a new release date (14th May 2020) of the exam. I advised him to retake the exam but he wants to push for a remark. Please is it possible to get a remark of an exam withheld for 10months?

PS: we wrote somewhere in Europe.
Yes. Remark is possible. It is from the day the result is released that the 6 weeks grace of applying for remark start counting. This is really sad. How would they investigate result for 10 freaking months. So despite all the camera in test centre in Europe, they still thought he cheated. So pathetic.

If he has the cash to gamble with, he can go ahead to apply for a remark and also make plans to write another. It beggars belief that someone with L 9, R 9, and S 8.5 would score a miserly 6 in Writing. I think it is evident from this that whoever marked the writing did so out of malice.

E no go better for every person that has governed Nigeria, if them don die thier souls no go ever rest. Who cursed Nigeria?
When I left Nigeria the first time, I wake up every day to say this.

Nigeria leaders/politicians are wicked to their people and themselves. Very heartless set of human beings. A country that cannot boast of security or electricity in this age. And I see young people take side with their oppressors because of ethnic and religious beliefs. Shameful to say the least.

Given the ruinous effect of their administration/governance of the country, they don't find solace in the destruction they have caused. Reason why they go abroad for Medicare, send their kids abroad for studies, and even safe their loot abroad. Very demonic set of people. I wonder how they sleep at night. They have turned the country to a mess.

Hello House,
Please can someone share or refer me to the process for visa application?

Thank You
Here you go mate.

http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Study

PS: Try to use Google for most of the information you seek. As a student, you will do a lot of independent studying. So start getting use to it.

Between, don't see my admonition as being harsh or something but it is really funny when little question like this is being asked here. Plus there are other pages here that has answered this question in the past. Be articulate to read and research. Doing this would save you time and money that hitherto you will pay to agents who in most cases don't care about your application but the money you are going to pay them.

Corporate2020:

Save oil till later? Europe, America, Australia and Asia are moving to electric cars, that means very soon car manufacturers will stop producing petrol and diesel cars. Countries are also moving to alternate power supply including solar and wind. So, when is the later day that oil price will go up? When Jesus comes?
When you make assumptions like this without technical knowledge is frightening. Oil will still power the world for more decades. More so, gas is the future. The electricity to charge the cars will be mainly derived from gas fired power plants. Oil is not only used in transportation; it is used in production of other essential materials that drives the world.

America, Australia, UK, Norway etc are investing heavily in exploration of oil and gas. Although Covid-19 has led many oil majors to stall projects for now, but things will definitely pick again.

Make no mistake that I am supporting the inability of the Nigeria Government to diversify the Nigeria Economy away from oil. It is really despicable. Our leaders only tend to talk about diversification when oil prices are low and go to business as usual when things ramp up again.

Hello everyone, I trust all is well.

I received my certified and sealed transcripts and Certificate from my school in November, however, before I got to send it to IQAS for evaluation, they put a notice indicating they would not receive any new applications until May 2020.

I still have the sealed documents with me, in the same state. Will I need to get the transcripts from my school again certified in a recent date or I can just submit this one dated November last year?
In as much as you have not tampered with the seal or stamp on the enclosing part of the envelope, you should be fine. The date on it is not an issue as IQAS would think the courier company is responsible for the delay.

Stop playing Ludo with your immigration chances. IRCC terms what you are about to do as misrepresentation and this can make them decline your PR application post ITA. You can even nail a ban of up to 5years for representation and it spans across all immigration program into Canada.

My advice? Wait for the TRF and sort when you have it. It's better to wait for two months than to get banned for 5years.
Relax man. Remember that CRS points can increase or reduce for several reasons. And IELTS is one reason that can lead to increased CRS point as one could retake the test while waiting in the pool. A changed IELTS scores won't come as misrepresentation in as much as the new CRS point did not go below the least point that was used in the draw that fetched the ITA.

And IELTS result is usually verified on a closed portal of the test provider. In this case IDP or BC. So as much as what the guy submits in his final eAPR application is the same as what would be found on the site of the exam administrator, then he will be just fine. In other words, no cause for alarm. Don't create fears in people. Cheers.

Please follow what's on your ECA report. Ignore the date on your certificate. There's a place on WES website where they addressed this kind of issue (check FAQ section). In your case, the program finished in 2018 but your wife didn't meet the requirements for a certificate to be issued, that's why it wasn't issued in 2018 at the completion of the program hence the 2019 end date.
This is misleading. Graduation year is usually what the certificate bears. Extra semester in school is pushing/has pushed completion date forward.

For instance, if Mr A was to graduate with his set in February 2014 but didn't due to extra semester which the person then sat the exam again and passed say in January 2015. Would the person's certificate bear the same date as those of his/her mates who have graduated in due time? The answer to this question is what the poster needs.

Unfortunately I can't tell. IDP delivers TRF to one's address in my locality within 7 days of the CBT test. So I didn't have any reason to note where the number is written on the online portal.

Please advise seniors. I've not gotten the remark result but I think it will be an increase from 6.5 to 7. So I want to enter the pool even without seeing the remark result with a 7 in writing. Do I wait or go ahead. I don't think there is a possibility of getting it increased to 7.5
IELTS scores can still be changed post ITA; it shouldn't just give less CRS point than that of the ITA.

But the issue now is how do you know which component of the test result changed? If you have a 7 in the writing test, what would be your CRS point? If it is negligible and can fetch you ITA without the tie breaking rule, I will suggest you wait until you get the TRF.

Good talk, Even with decent job, My brother I pray that you will not experience the negative side of Nigeria. TO ALL THAT CARES ABOUT THEIR CHILDREN, FLEE from this country as far as your leg can take you. The fact that you will operate in a SANE environment and there is hope for future of your children is enough reason.
Hi, thanks for dropping by. And for your quote, It shows you read my post but you didn't really understand it. You could do again if you have the time.

I raised a few issues in the post, but you chose a specific position which is my opinion that even came with a caveat. I am not perturbed though.

About wanting a great life for your children, I am not against that. Because that is the dream of every parent. But my position is based on the stories I have read on Qoura and the other thread of living in Canada as an immigrant and first hand experience. Where some folks still relish their big man life in Naija. Chauffeur driven, gate man manning their gates, house help doing their chores and people massaging their egos in their workplace in Naija with "oga mi sir" or other accolades that fit such purpose in the country workplace politico. They get none of this in their new home. Many find this fact a strange one. Not even the reality of having to work "the bottom up the ladder approach" in some cases.

And as with many developed nations, an easy way to integrate into their society is education. This new episode might not be easy for someone who is advanced in age with children that need support and time thereby making them to forgo their own dreams. But at the end, their children will be fine for it like you said but only if they shun violence or bad influence and not get carried away by the freedom they have in a new world.

In all, it is not all black and white. Not straightforward but also not impossible. Most importantly, it is necessary to marry expectations with reality. This will make the difference in the long run when the going gets tough. Just me thinking in my humble opinion. Cheers.

Sorry for not being clear.

What I mean is use other means like study visas, entrepreneur visas, etc.

For instance, study in Europe or elsewhere.

I am saying do not put all your eggs into the Canada basket. Especially if you have a good job where you are.

Unless you are desperate to enter Canada.
I think it is important to set things straight here. To the best of my knowledge, no country in the Western world today has a clear cut immigration policy like Canada. So your admonition on study visa and all might not cut it. Do you know how much dollars they want one to invest to get such entrepreneurial visa? The education you also talked about is expensive and you don't get PR after you finish. You have to get a job that is willing to sponsor or you marry a citizen to adjust status.

So what is the luck of finding the job after studies in some countries that don't even grant post study visa? Or the decision for someone who is already married who can't marry another for papers? If you follow the statistics of PR approvals, you will realise the numbers coming from the USA which make up the second or third highest after inland applicants are people who have actually studied there who can't get green card. So why go spend above $20,000 on education and still be struggling for PR afterwards especially when the aim is not to return after studying in the first place? The energy can be channelled into Express Entry or even used for other things in Naija.

Only if you know the level of burden that has been taken off an individual to land in a Western country as a permanent resident permit holder, I bet you won't say this.

And on your position on one staying put in Naija if the person has a good/decent job with career prospect, I am in full agreement with that. I won't really advice anyone with a decent job in naija to pursue migrating especially people of advance age. My humble opinion.

Hello gurus, pls I need help... I am filling our express entry profile and I got confused about the education history. My wife is the PA. Her masters program was meant to be one year, 2017/2018. But 2017/2018- 2018/2019 but the statement of result says 2018/2019
This is straightforward. The year the program commenced and ended is what matters. Go with the date on the certificate as the completion date. Hope your ECA bears the same completion date as your certificate? IRCC doesn't care about how many years it took to complete the degree or the grade. Their interest is the qualification and its Canadian equivalent. I hope you find this helpful. Cheers.

The CBT test in my opinion is better. It gives ample time to finish most of the task, especially in writing (if you are proficient with the use of a keyboard).
Yes. I believe it is. Just stated my view on it so the fellow could make his decision. And for the typing, nothing too critical. Anyone with fair appreciation of computer should be fine.

I am thinking of writing the CBT ielts exam. Please is it advisable to do CBT?
This is really depending on how you adapt to new ideas/change. Many dread CBT for the listening part, but I can tell you there is not much typing to be done during the listening test as it is mainly section 1 and 4 that requires typing mostly. Other sections are usually MCQs that just require clicking, and other part just dragging answers. That said, you are still given pencil and paper for your use if you think it is necessary. In my view, I will suggest you use the pencil to write your answers to section 4 only because that part of the recording is usually fast and a bit tricky in most cases. So writing on paper first and transferring to the screen would allow you follow the conversation to a great extent.

On the reading part, CBT is more convenient in my view as you don't need to be turning pages of papers back and forth. The question is beside the passage. And you can use copy and paste from the question to the answer where necessary. Running your eyes through the screen would also be faster than doing same on paper I believe. Scheming things.

For writing, this is the game changer for me in IELTS CBT. Some of the reasons for this include: the system shows you the number of words you have written, you can easily cut, backspace or realign your writing without the burden of using eraser like in the PBT therefore saving you time. Typing is also much faster than writing manually which in turn will give you more time to review your work for any possible error.

The speaking test is the same for CBT and PBT. An interview session with an examiner.

Overall, the beauty of CBT for me is the 7 days turnaround time for result to be released. The 13 days waiting for PBT is hell given the high stake of the test. You don't want to keep playing the recording of the listening test in your head for 13 days and wondering if you got a spelling right or if you wrote plural when it was supposed to be singular. But in all, you still have to ask yourself if you are ready to adapt to change and test the waters of CBT.

PS: Passing IELTS is first a thing of the mind. Prepare well, understand the tricks, especially in writing and speaking; relax and don't be anxious in the test hall. You will not be caught in the web of taking the test more than once. Cheers.

I want to submit my application so as to beat the increment of application fees by April 30th. However, the only thing that is a challenge now is how to get PCC.

From my previous knowledge, I can only get this in Lagos. But right now, with this lockdown, I can't leave my state (Abia state).

I'm confused, I'm totally clueless at this point.

Please your advice and suggestions will be appreciated.
Hi, I believe Inspector Moshood can handle this for you. Check for his contact on this page and reach out to him. You fill the form, thumb print, scan and send to him with the data page of your passport plus the digital kolanut. I hope you understand what my last word means. He will also send back soft copy of your PCC once completed while you make arrangements to get the hard copy later. Cheers.

RE: Nigeria Girls In Canada Are Lonely

This thread is a follow up to a thread by -gargoylern, that graced nairaland front page today. What an interesting topic. Well done, op! I have had similar observations from my corner where I live. Find link below if you have not read the story. https://www.nairaland.com/5782313/chai-nigerian-girls-canada-lonely

Back to the topic, this situation is not peculiar to Canada alone but most developed countries. There are a few reasons I have come to believe contribute to this loneliness of African ladies in diaspora and not just Nigerians alone. After my observation, I am afraid that many African ladies would never marry in their lifetime even though many of them desire being married. This is because many have thrown away their African realities and fully embraced the Western reality. What a pity! Below are reasons I believe to be fuelling the loneliness as observed by "gargoylern". Sit back, read along and enjoy.

++ Social and Constitutional set up of the society they live: The West gives considerable power to the female gender than they will get in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. So for many African ladies, this reality is one they can't really fathom and they tend to exercise it to the fullest. Some are quick to drive their man away from the house at slightest provocation, others are quick to trigger the divorce clause in their marriage for issues that they can resolve amicably. All of these things are not oblivious to the younger generation of African men who are then afraid to travel the road of marriage with their African ladies.

++ Financial Independence - Given the relative ease of earning an income in developed countries, ladies earn for themselves and mostly think they don't need a man in their lives. By the time they realise the time is ticking, it becomes increasingly difficult for them to subject themselves to the authority of a man based on the reality of the environment they have found themselves and their possible deep pockets at the point in time.

++ Resident Permit/Foreign Passport - This could really be intoxicating for many of these girls. It is something I really can't stomach. They think the foreign passport or permanent resident status they hold is where the world begins and ends. It is really baffling when they jump into conclusion that you are coming to them because you are seeking to get residency status. For me and a few friends, we have left them to dwell in their miseries. I don't know any man worth his dignity that would keep chasing a lady with this kind of thinking!

++ Imaginary Class/segregation: Most Africans born abroad or those who have lived there for long have this notion that they are better than their counterparts who just newly arrived. Given that they have stayed longer, it gives them that leverage to have better settled and adapt to the country they find themselves. Many of these disporians born or long stayed African ladies also have this pride to tell you to your face as a fellow African that you have accent as many have native accent due to the fact they have stayed longer in the country and have adjust to the vocals of the natives. How disrespectful! So these automatically turn people off from approaching them based on previous experiences. Thereby making guys to gravitate towards foreigners for filial relationships.

++ Team White boys mentality: This one is very hilarious in all fairness. As most African ladies think black boys are stingy, not romantic, or too authoritative. Which conditions their mind to wanting to explore white boys due to the many fairytales they have seen in movies. Not knowing that movies are make believe, and in most cases fall short of realities. Most white boys are Bleep boys who are only looking to explore their inner desires of bedding a black girl and nothing more in most cases! So by the time the white boy enjoys the cookies for a while, he packs his "kaya"! Mind you, these white boys are better headmasters than their black counterparts given the fact that they are lacking in size and lack the stamina to give penile pleasure like an African man would do. A few black girls do retrace their steps quickly back to their African men to enjoy bliss, while some are stuck in it after becoming objects in that relationship as they are usually discriminated against by the family of the white boy. Example is the Ghanian girl whose experience with a German guy was put on this platform a while ago.

++ Too much expectations: Given that it takes time for an average immigrant to settle in a new country, it is not strange for the black guys to face some financial constraints starting out thereby making the person to thread easy on expenditures that are not necessary. In addition, as a new landed black man, it might take a few while to get any corporate job which will put you on the mid ladder of the society. Most of these girls detest mingling with guys in this bottom down position as they want fancy things with many fantasies that their parents who brought them abroad or gave birth to them abroad cannot afford. Let us not open the can of worms regarding this part. And as it is natural for a man to look elsewhere when he finally gets his act together, he is definitely not going to look their way again! So this leaves many of them single till they are advanced in age. By this time, they bring their miss independent mindset to social media to feign happiness and further deceiving ladies back home that they don't need men for anything, meanwhile they are suffering in silence! And these ladies at home are quick to jump on the bandwagon and start forming "woke" and they also start treating homeboys as shit without understanding the underlying factors responsible for the attitude by their diaspora counterparts. This is big danger to the family as an institution in Africa.

On the bright side, African ladies in diaspora with residency or passport should check in to the continent to pick husband materials and bring them abroad since many would say there are no husbands abroad. Furthermore, if you are on the Canada journey, please find a man or put one in your plans before you move. You don't want your coochie to bear the harrowing cold while it secrets its juice without any manly taste to quench the fire. Lol. It is for this reason that oyinbo girls find succour in Love Machine.

Finally, many African ladies and mothers in diaspora need to do some reflection to know where the rain started to beat them. They need to keep educating their girls on the African values, especially what is expected of them on the home front. Some would tag this as being stuck in the 19th century or in medieval times, but if you reflect, you will find some sense in what I have written. Regardless of the beauty of the western culture, our norms and tradition as a people is important to our survival as a race.

Hello all,

Greetings.

Please my wife is interested in applying for a PhD scholarship in Public Health at Ireland. She's got a BSc in Human Anatomy and a Master's in Public Health. She's got over three years work experience in the NGO sector.

Thanks as I await your help. Meanwhile, I'd continue to research on the matter.

Regards.

Hi, Firstly, I hope you don't get offended with my post. It is baffling that your wife who wants to study for a PhD has to push this question through you on a public space like this. PhD is a research degree that requires lots of personal development due to its intensity and the goals of educating an independent thought leader in a specific discipline with very minimal supervision. So basic information on how to go about a PhD admission and all shouldn't be asked by a potential PhD student. Dig deep on the internet as there tons of information on that. Even Universities have documents on their websites on how to go about this. Not to talk about forums like Quora.

That said, I am not sure of many PhD scholarships in Ireland but you can be sure to always find something by diligently searching and making concrete contacts with professors in schools that offer studies in area of your research interest.

So generally this is a guide on how to go about PhD admission and possible scholarships.

++ Identify the schools that carry out research in your area of specialisation

++ Reach out to professors in the faculty with similar research interests as yours mostly through email. In the email, introduce yourself and give a brief background into your academic qualifications, professional background, and any publications you have; and also stating why you are interested in working with the person and your future goals after completion of your PhD. If you guys reach a compromise, they will advice you on the next point of action. Whether to apply for admission or possible ways in which you can get funding.

++ Another possible way is to keep eyes on some websites that publish ongoing PhD positions in Europe and North America. For instance, if you are an Earth Scientist, your best bet for this would be http://www.earthworks-jobs.com. Note that PhD positions that would be advertised on sites like this are usually competitive. So you need good academic standing, research skills and publications in reputable journals. But be sure that clinching one of them gives you some mileage to a great PhD experience as you get tuition waiver and stipends towards living cost. You will also be paid to attend international conferences regardless of the country it is happening in the world as long as your supervisor is interested in you attending.

++ It is important to write IELTS academic test and other standardized test like GRE if you are looking at the USA. As a PhD applicant/candidate, you are expected to have great communication skills because part of PhD undertaking is to be able to communicate your research findings with the scientific community.

For schools in Ireland, check University College Dublin, University College Cork, National University of Ireland Galway, Maynooth University and other small colleges that offer similar programs.

I hope you find this useful. I wish you success in this pursuit. Cheers.

What would you advise? Since I'm graduating next year, should I go through school? Thinking of a different MS program or is there something I'm don't get about the Skilled entry route?

Would appreciate your response.
Thank You
Hello, is your job experience continuous for a year at least? What IELTS result did you simulate with? How much cash did you put that you will bring to the Maple Land?

Regarding schooling, it is not a bad option too given you are already in the States. But are you really ready for that again given your age? Except you are interested in a PhD. Never say never. Just start making your own plans. You could get PNP nomination if you are in a profession that is in demand. Read and make your own findings. It will really help you. Cheers.

Hello everyone. Good afternoon. I just submitted my application about 2hrs ago (family of 3) and got AOR almost immediately. Just few minutes ago, I got a mail, checked my profile and it was Biometrics Instruction Letter for Myself and my husband.

Is it always that fast or am I mixing things up?
I guess you must have done the upfront medical much earlier (say one week) before you submitted your application.

If that is the case, it is not too fast as Biometrics Instruction is usually given out once one passes the medical exam. So nothing unusual as long as the information comes from cic dedicated email and it reflects on your cic account. I don't think you are in Naija too. Right? Good luck.
