I played too safe and specified 18% for Stanbic Have you been debited by Stanbic?. |

unite4real: the savings bond is 2-3 years not up to 5 years. again, it will always be traded on the floor of the NSE, so no wahala Thanks. The funds i have now cannot be tied up for 2-3 years. So i will still prefer the secondary market option. Are there guidelines on how this savings bond will be traded on the floor of the NSE?. Price movement of stocks has been known to be manipulated. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 10:07am On Mar 02, 2017 |
unite4real: No response yet but from all indications, we have to resort to buying from secondary market henceforth. This will be lower than the primary auction unless banks are desperate to mop naira to buy dollars, this is when we are likely to get TB at par with primary auction or even more than that. For now, the savings bond is what we look up to. Which small investor will want to tie down his/her funds in a savings bond for 3-5 years?. Secondary market will be a better option. The banks can buy in bulk from the CBN and sell to small investors. If a bank buys from CBN at 17% for instance, i will not mind buying from the bank's secondary market at 16% instead of tying down the money in a savings bond at 18% for instance. |

zamirikpo: lets not jump into conclusion so fast, from what i understand about NTB...individuals ordinarily cannot apply directly unless they have a minimum of 150m......thats y we go through the banks or financial houses , and what the banks do is to compile a list of applicants.....then apply to the CBN......on our behalf, minimum investments varied with the different banks. So now if this new policy is stating 50m minimum.....how does that affect us when ordinarily we dont apply individually or r u guys saying that the banks would require u to have 50m before u can put in an application at the bank level.
fidelity securities and other finance houses could as well collect peoples money and invest in d NTB primary market.......without any wahala just like they have always done . or r we saying that the finance houses would no longer offer such services unless we apply with 50m.
as individuals we dont subscribe directly to CBN.....and from what i read above ,minimum subscription to the CBN on NTB is 50m.
i would like answers and clarifications on my observations. There is good logic and sense in this your angle. I think people that might have problems will be those that want to specify a rate for the banks. Banks can pool the funds and bid as one entity and then allocate to individuals that indicated interest. In the last auction, i did through Gtbank with bank rate and i was debited after the auction even though i submitted my instruction letter 4 days before the bid date. For Today's own, iam doing it at Stanbic and i filled the form last Friday, February 24 with bank rate but i noticed that on Monday this week, the amount i specified was placed on hold in my account. This is making me to believe this your theory. |

Obeseke: Today is Wednesday, March 1, 2017 and yet, the update that was promised for Monday, February 27 has not come in. Business men in Nigeria have contributed in no small measure to the near collapse of the Nigerian economy with their insincerity, greed and self-centredness. When prices are on the increase, they are quick to effect and report. Now that $1=415, everybody is silent as if the reason justifying the upward review still exists. Our patriotism as a people will forever be in doubt as long as we refuse to change our mindset. Fellow Nairalanders, let us all walk the talk as we await the update from Chekitaut. God bless Nigeria. The next reason that you will hear why prices have not come down is 'high cost of power as there is no electricity' or 'we need to sell off our old stocks first' |

airminem: I have 10months toddler and I just found out I'm pregnant again! To be honest I am scared because I had a c-section and I am a little embarrassed. It was a total accident, but I do admit I was not on any bc. I'm afraid I will have people judging me because our son and this baby will only be months apart. Not that it matters, but since I'm already uneasy about the whole thing it just bothers me more. Economically or financially we are working or as.ses out but aren't their yet! The one thing i notice is that no one is ever really ready to bring another child in the world!, it just happens but to me kids are a blessing from God!! My husband and I haven't told anybody because I told him not too yet, I am really embarrassed and don't know what to do. I just returned to work a month-plus ago since my job gave me few more months after c-section birth. How do I tell my work colleagues and family member i am having another baby. I really don't know what to do. I am happy about having another one but just embarrassed. Advice from those of you who can give useful idea. Hold it! You better don't say congrats okay.
Thanks! You are very funny. Why do you think a boy of 10 months is too young to have a sibling?. My son was born in September of 2005. His sister was born in February of 2007. Do the maths yourself to know how old he was when his sister was conceived. |

olawale100: I am writing this review not to cast aspersion on anybody's character but to guide and inform would be (future) clients on the likely quality of service they may get when you engage Engr Osaz – real name Osazuwa Enobakhare I wanted to do pile foundation for a property at Ikate Elegushi, Lekki area of Lagos. I got three quotes from nairalanders and after careful analysis and comparison, I decided to go with Engr. Osaz. I must confess my decision to go with Engr. Osaz was after reading the nice review written by one of his client, a medical doctor about the good job Engr. Osaz did for him at Isheri and also because he repeatedly stated that he is a structural engineer and will ensure the project will be properly & personally supervised.
After initial discussion and a quote was sent, I requested for a contract, he mentioned it won’t be necessary because the job is not that “big and serious”. He sent his quote and I did not negotiate at all because I believe I am getting a value added service after Engr. Osaz assured me that he being a structural engineer will ensure the project is properly supervised and handled. After mobilizing him with about 25% of the project cost, he came to site with some equipment, I enquired from him where the drilling machine is, I was shocked when he said he will use hand drilling option. I informed him I am not comfortable with this option because the piles are 10 meters deep, and 450mm diameter for 45 pile points. At no time did he specified that hand drilling will be used. Lesson learnt is that when dealing with people, there should be no assumption at all. He reviewed the cost upward. At that time I was not willing to go ahead with him again. He had dug a borehole (I agreed to provide the submersible pump). I informed him that he should deduct the cost of the borehole and transport for the hand drills. I stated categorically that I will only use mechanical drilling machine, he said he review the cost and get back to me. He reviewed the cost upward by 300k. I perused and informed him he should just refund me less borehole and transport cost, he later sent another email that he has reverted to the original quote. At this point, I sensed it may be difficult and hectic to retrieve money from Engr. Osaz without it getting ugly or resulting to waste of time, I decided to go ahead with him. He requested for additional funds. I was not willing to part with more funds without seeing the drilling machine on site. He persuaded me that once I move the funds to him, he will bring the machine and move to site and ensure there is good progress on the project. After paying him, it took about two days for him to bring the machine to site. I lost my cool and reached out to him. I practically called him about 2o times within a period of 5 hours, his phone did not go through, always going to voicemail. Eventually, the next day, they started drilling, I got to site, I could not see any casting machine, I asked Osaz, Osaz said they will use dry mix. I have a supervising engineer on site who at this time became so furious and refused to allow work to proceed until a casting machine is brought to site. Osaz refused to provide a casting machine, stating the cost will be borne by me. I made arrangement for 6 days for casting machine and operator. I paid from my pocket for this. At this point, Osaz had been paid about 78% of the project cost. My supervising engineer is always on site and was not happy with the handling and execution of the project. Osaz apparently subcontracted the drilling job to someone else and was not there to supervise as he had promised. About the 4th day, 26 pile points had been drilled and casted. On day 5, Osaz came late in the evening to site and was having challenges paying the caster 10,000. Nobody was supervising the casting process. He charged me over 3 times of what he was paying them. My engineer informed me about this and I was really upset. I came to site the next morning, the caster informed me that the casting crew are not happy with the rate Osaz is paying them, they had casted 5 points the day before and each of them got 1,000 each. I arranged 6 workers, promised to pay them 2,200 per point, bought shovels and decided to take over the casting as I was really disappointed with the way Osaz was going about the project. In the Afternoon, I got the greatest shock on this project, the drillers down tooled, Osaz had only paid them for 20 points and they were supposed to be paid for another 20 points before they can proceed. I had to breach protocol, I engaged the drillers because I cannot afford my project to be stalled. (I am also paying for the casting machine on a daily basis) I enquired how much is being owed for the remaining 25 pile points. They told me it is 375,000. I moved 300,000 to the owner of the drilling machine and he immediately directed his boys to commence work. Osaz was no where to be found, he was incommunicado. He had the effrontery to call me and tell me cock and bull stories. I told him I have left him to God but I just had to let people know the type of person this guy is. AT the end, I paid for the concrete job for the last 12 points, I paid the drillers a sum of N375,000 Net, I lost some money but not so much, Osaz abandoned the job after he had collected a huge chunk of money from me for the project. He stopped coming to site altogether and most painful is when you call him and his phone does not go through. His is the most irresponsible behavior I have seen in a “professional”. I told him that most of my artisans that are not educated are more reliable and protect their reputation better. Osaz is not a man of his words, as a feedback, I will never engage Engr Osaz again and if I know anyone that is interested in engaging him, I will advise the party accordingly. That is my personal experience with this man Is this person, Engr Osaz – real name Osazuwa Enobakhare a Nairalander?. If so, what is the Nairaland Id?. |

Iam sure the guy even thinks that whenever he makes a post on Nairaland and colours the words or line of words for instance with blue colour, Seun the owner of Nairaland has an illiterate painter he has employed behind the screen who quickly dips his paint brush into a blue colour bucket of paint and paints the words or line of words before it appears to him in blue. . Education › Re: Let’s Encourage Mathematics Instead Of BBN by NL1960: 10:55am On Feb 21, 2017 |
HanXolo: Eyah...ure making tins worse for urself...smh..when building electrical machines there are so many equations used to determine the various parameters.. E.g AC Motors
In AC motors the speed is proportional to the frequency of the applied voltage and inversely proportional to the number of magnetic poles.
N = K3 f /P
Output power
The motor output power is directly proportional to its speed. The output power P in Watts is given by:
P = ωT
Where ω is the speed in radians per second and T is the torque in Newton metres
OR
P = 2π NT/ 60= NT/9.55
Where N is the speed in revolutions per minute (RPM)
And these are just the basics..so u saying u don't apply maths in real life makes me question everything about you..what did u study?..or is bbn giving u a brain drain Why are you wasting your time?. This is somebody who is saying '2x-1x' and also saying 'find x' from it and you think such a person even knew what mathematics is all about?. It is people like these that make students to hate mathematics and when the reality now hits them later in life, they start regretting why they did not pay attention to the simple mathematics earlier in their life. I know of some people then that when it is time for mathematics and the maths teacher comes into the class, they will jump out through the window and be asking the teacher what the usefulness of what he is going to teach will be to their lives in future. These people are now doing some professional courses and they are meeting the simple mathematics which they ignored them. They are now going back to the people who stayed in class then and whom they were making jest of. |

all these Pythagoras and rubbish equations, how do they apply in real life..not even those bankers or cashiers apply all those nonsense and good for nothing simultaneous eqn..

do u know my grandma can perfectly load credit cards,check balance and decipher every damn thing in her phone..all these were taught to him via practice and not some shenanigans and bla bla bla been taught on the board..
yeah maths is important for calculations in our day to day activities, but making it sound as if if u know the equations,theorems,calculations In maths...viola, u can build bridges, produce tech gadgets .. my brother I don't agree with that.. See the bold in your first post. You said 'apply'. What do you think the 'engineers kum architects' are applying to build bridges?. You think they are applying witchcraft?. If your grandma can do all these because they were taught to her, it means somebody knows simple addition and subtraction to have taught her these. Iam sure you did English language in your Primary and secondary schools. Is it all the English topics that you were taught for close to 11 years in both primary and secondary schools that you are applying in real life?. Go and find out from the producers of BBN the theories behind the production which makes you to see clearly what you are seeing. I do not know if you were born during the era of black and white TV without remote control. Btw, i will want you to show me a bridge that has been constructed by an illiterate of mathematics and the load capacity of such a bridge. |

tell me more.. No Mathematics person or teacher will ever give such a question to solve. That is not an equation and you cannot be finding x for something that is not an equation. In addition, there is nothing like '1x'. If that was what was given to you or how you were taught while in school, you better go back to the school and ask for a refund of all the school fees you paid. |

You then login into Nairaland setup by Seun and yet you are asking how all the mathematics can be applied in real life. If you live in Lagos, iam sure you must have passed through the Third Mainland bridge at one point or the other. Maybe, you think that bridge came to be cause somebody said 'let there be a bridge and a bridge came about'. With this type of thinking, it is no wonder why the country is where it is. If somebody like you end up in the leadership of this country, we are in real trouble. Btw, anytime you recharge your phone, the GSM companies will do: New Balance = Old Balance + Recharge Amount. This is Mathematics and not BBN reality show. Iam sure if you check your balance and you see: New Balance = Old Balance - Recharge Amount, you will quickly call their customer care. What you have just applied is mathematics in real life. QED. (btw, QED means quod erat demonstrandum. You can check google for the meaning. Google uses mathematics to give you this real life meaning). |

Please what do you think about this. Stop rate yesterday was 18.449%. He was saying crab about bank having to make profit and all those stuffs. From all I could get is that, GTB bids at a higher rate and sell to its customers at a lower rate in order to make their own profit off your money. So anything higher than their rate won't be submitted because they don't make money off it. Please any Gtbank debit higher than 17.9% should comment. Thanks This is interesting.
