Mascotlawman: I was at Gtb yesterday to enquire about TB, I was told that they can do 16% to 16.5% . That it depends on CBN rate that they are not the one that set the percentage rate.
I was told to only write an instruction and drop at the customer service and they will forward to my account officer and I should make sure that all the money I want to invest is in the account.
So please I have not done this before, this is my first time. Please what is the FORMAT for writing the instruction? Pls ur help is needed. On the bold, i asked my account officer at GTB this same question and she said that there was no format for the instruction. So, i just wrote an instruction telling them to debit my account with Bleep amount and used same to invest in 182-day treasury bill of Feb 15, 2017. Note that i did not specify any rate because i want them to use their rate as this is my first time. I then signed and i have drop the instruction with her without hassles. |

euromilion: I expect that behaviour from a typical Nigerian, they're very selfish when it comes to paying for services, they hate parting with their money.
I think all inclusive seems more realistic. Some of the landlords or caretakers are worse than the tenants. The tenants pay to them, they eat the money and start giving excuses. Iam in a six-flat apartment building. When we entered, light bill, water bill and security guard bill was included in the bill which we all paid and the landlord/caretaker said that he will be paying. He never paid to PHCN nor paid to Water corporation. He was even owing the security guard and he was not concerned because he was not living in the compound. We had to bear the brunt of PHCN, water corporation and security guard. When we were renewing, we insisted on doing it ourselves instead of paying it to him in our rent. That solved all the problems. So, do not be quick to blame the tenants Some of these landlords/care takers are worse than tenants. |

Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 9:15am On Feb 09, 2017 |
chukzyfcbb: this is a very tricky question because one is intended for short term and the other long term investment. an investment in real estate could produce not just steady cash flow but an increase in value of your capital . T bills however will only give you cash flow. value remains same. eg a rented house valued at 20million would give an annual rent of 6-8% . Real estate reports quote 6-8% roi for houses in lagos and abuja so therefore, on the average it means your house will yield 1.2- 1.6million per annum
However if you take that same 20million and invest it currently in tbills. at a true yield of about 22% i.e that is investing all, including the upfront interest your 20million will give you 4.3 million or more annually
Now despite the fact that you will earn more (cash flow) investing in tbills. You cannot neglect the fact that for real estate , the value of your land which your house sits on rises yearly. so u not just earn cashflow in real estate, your value of land rises.
so weigh your options bro. are you in for the long term or short term? Can you handle the rigors that come with real estate investment, getting rents from tenants isn't easy as it is on paper :-) Goodluck Good points but the question has always been if the person has such a pool of funds to make the real estate investment. If i have 10m, i will rather invest such in 1-year TB and earn 1.8m than go and invest in real estate. 10m will not build any reasonable property now unless it is face-me-i-face-you type of house in a crowded area. With my 1.8m, i will comfortably rent a flat for 500k per annum. |

neurosci: Total fees including tuition, boarding and others at Loyola Jesuit College was 1.5 million naira per year as at last year. But if your son can get the highest score among male candidates in the common entrance exam, he would be given a full scholarship for the entire six years of study at the sch. Even if he doesn't get the highest score but performs well, he can still get a full scholarship if you inform the sch about your inability to pay. About 10% of the school population is on a scholarship. And it is the best secondary school in West Africa since at least the last 10 years. Wa o. I thought the fees is in the neigbourhood of 2.5m. Do you have somebody there?. I will check their website again as they have some old newsletters that i once saw the fees to parents. |

Centrix: It is only boarding and the fees are not so different from Corona's. Entry is at year 7 (JS 1) only. Transfers to higher classes isn't allowed Quite true. I think they have a day section in another area of Abuja. I was considering the school for my son but the fees is beyond what i could afford. If i had the money, i would choose it over Corona. The unfortunate thing also is that they do not have transfer exams to other classes. With the high standards and competition to enter, i doubt any child fails any class to even create space. Their interview process lasts 10 days. That tells you the number of applicants to the school. I think they have common entrance centres in UK, US and Canada. |

Pls this is in order to get prepared for next admission of my Son
God bless If you are serious, then either send the school a mail for the information or you pay a visit to the school. Most schools give their fees breakdown if you visit them. You can also look for a parent that has a ward in the school. Most schools do not put their fees on their website again. |

slimtriggaman: I think it is too early to know which rate to go for, reason being that the auction stop rates are majorly determined by economic factors and policies which are very dynamic. I suggest you lookout for the economic trend within next week. Hopefully by next week Friday or upper week Monday, you would be able to get an almost certain and safe rate to bid for from this forum.
So prepare your mind to submit your auction form before COB on Monday 13th Thanks. My account officer told me that i have to submit a written instruction 3 working days before the bid day. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 12:42pm On Feb 03, 2017 |
slimtriggaman: to the best of my knowledge (Gurus in the house can correct me), there are three major scenarios;
1.) If you go with bank rate, the success or failure of your auction depends solely on the bank
2.) If you go with your personal rate and your rate is higher than CBN stop rate and your bank uses a lower rate within CBN stop rate, your auction would not be successful.
3.) If you go with your personal rate and your rate is higher than the bank rate and lower than CBN stop rate, your auction would be successful, assuming the bank acknowledges your auction request. Thanks. So what do the gurus and yourself advise?. I want to jump in for the first time in the Feb 15, 2017 action using GTB for a 182-day tenor and i want success. Should i give my rate to GTB or should i allow them to use their rate?. If iam to use my rate, what is the safest rate band to get a success for a 182-day tenor?. |

bisiki2: And the moral of this explanation @ IHelp and all is; Always state your own rate each time you bid. Thank you. What if you use your rate and the bank use their own rate and your rate end up being higher than CBN stop rate while the rate used by the bank is lower than CBN stop rate, will it not mean that you will lose out while those that went with bank rate will win or will the bank make you win in respective of the higher rate you use?. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 10:58am On Feb 03, 2017 |
bisiki2: Always specify your own rate each time you bid to avoid being ripped off. Can a bank ripped up somebody if the rate is not specified?. What i mean is that can the bank give to the person a rate that CBN did not give the person?. For instance, if CBN gives me a rate of 18.2%, can the bank turn around to say that it is 17.5%? |

1-3yrs is all about building motor skills, making dem aware of dia environmt, encouraging play etc... most schools really get it wrong wit toddler education; only few understand the principles. my colleague's 1yr+ son ws asked to color the Nigerian flag in an 'exam'.. + other ridiculous questions... he withdrew the child frm d skol immediately...lol Just imagine. Should exams be given to kids at such levels?. Kudos to that your colleague. He did the right and reasonable thing by withdrawing the child. Do the school know that there are various stages of the development and maturity of a child's brain?. |

feddy27: Hey Zaynie, my son hs started school too and they don't wear uniforms as well. They said dey wanyt d kids to enjoy their childhood. Some of their daily activities are story time, sports, circle time, he's been taught letters a - c and numbers 1- 3. Dey re doin a great job with potty training; he takes off his pull up and says 'mummy I want to wee' and he actually does! I was so impressed! Every weekend he comes home wit a book for us to read to him and like you said dey re mostly cartoons e.g. last weekend ws Barney and baby bop. He ws soo excited and listened attentively. They had sports day and he ran 10m race He's always so excited goin to school. Today, they had cookery class wia dey made salad wit cucumber, onions, tomatoes and lettuce and every child took a bowl home. They said the essence is to encourage them to eat vegetables.
So far, I'm overly impressed with them. They have an adult to child ratio of 1:4. Currently they are 13, max is 15 with the head teacher and 4 minders. My son's teacher hs taught for 27yrs in dat school! Every Wednesday is Fruits Day; no artificial juice and the likes so we are ready for our mixed fruit salad tmrw Iam really impressed with the bold especially the " They said dey wanyt d kids to enjoy their childhood" aspect. There are some schools where tough ICT homework is given to a reception kid as if the kid is going to enter high institution the next day. The parents end up doing the home work or employ an evening lesson teacher who now does the home work. How is the child suppose to learn in such circumstances. As far as iam concerned, a 1-3 year old kid should enjoy his/her childhood. |

He confirmed that he abandoned the work because the project sum we agreed to could not finish the work. He could have come back to me and plead his case instead of abandoning the project. Has Hajji mentioned we came to an agreement for a variation in project sum and he is committed to completing the job by end of next week. May you all be endowed with a cornucopia of His grace and avalanche of blessings from the suzerainty of the greater beyond to perpetually experience this moment of proscenium of joie de vivre in many more decades to unfold. Merry christmas [/b] Abeg, one babe is doing shakara for me. I need the equivalent big word of the bold ' oppression & injustice' so that i can use them on her. . Make you help your brother out. |
