miella:
It is better to go for longer tenor especially if the amount you are investing is high.

For example, see the difference between investing N100,000 for 364 days and the same N100,000 for 91 days below:

If you invest N100,000 for 364 days at a rate of 18.65%, your interest will be N18,650.00.

While for 91 days @ 13. 6% your interest will be N3,390.68

Now if you multiply 3,390.68 * 4, your interest will be N13,562.72 (if you invest four times in a year for 91 days each)

So you can see longer tenor will give higher interest. Now imagine if you invest like N4,000,000.00, the difference will be very high
jaybee3:
Your Calc is slightly off but your point is valid if we don't take the possibility of rate rising into account
I hope you are aware that the discounted interest of N18,650.00 for 364 days can be further re-invested at a discount and so on and so forth. You can also re-invest your N3,390.68 at a discount for 90 days and so on and so forth. At the end of the day, the longer tenor still wins. Shorter tenor is advisable if liquidity is a concern but if liquidity is not a problem, then a longer tenor is advised.

okay firstly i'll like to apologise if the topic had been treated before, i'm kinda new here

Now here is the gist, my wife is a hottie, as in full option 6 loader double decker. but here is the thing, my son won't let me get a piece of that no more. As in the dude have completely colonize my wife. i am not a stingy guy, i am open for a sharing option, but the lil guy is having non of that. he wants her all for himself. Any time we start clapping before we go begin the dance, dude will start his "attention seeking cry" even if he is asleep o, and my wife will leave me high and dry and go attend to him.

i need a way out (matured advice o)

i am tempted to start giving the guy cough syrup secretly

Deny him of his popular TV or DSTV program for a period. When you finally let him watch after the expiration, he will maintain because he knows what will be coming when next time he misbehaves. Tell him 'no more watching of DSTV till further notice if you continue to misbehaves'. You know children and cartons especially Tom and Jerry.

You're entitled to your opinion bro.

When my cousin was given the second promotion like that even her Mum tried to reject it until her Dad said they should leave the girl alone.

I don't know of any other child(ren) but even in secondary school this girl is still performing creditably and she's now in a public secondary school in Lagos.
So if she is that hot, why is her mother saying " It was just yesterday her mum was telling her that no matter the outcome of her SSCE she will spend at least 2 extra years at home". She should enter University straight now and even go ahead to do PHD. Is she not matured at 14 to enter University?.

Anyway, i do not want to really drag the issue by asking for the names of the primary and secondary schools.

It's not their guardian's fault that some of these kids are brilliant and some of them got double promotions in primary school.

My cousin is just 13 and in SSS2 as we speak. It was just yesterday her mum was telling her that no matter the outcome of her SSCE she will spend at least 2 extra years at home and she will use the period to complete the hair making training she's currently doing on weekend basis now.
I laugh in Swahili. Which double promotion and in which school?. Is it not a private school whose main purpose is to make profit and the only way to do that is if you keep your child in the school especially if you pay regularly and on schedule. If a parent that is paying regularly 'requests' for a double promotion for his/her child or else 'i withdraw him/her from your school to another school', the proprietor will even ask you if you want triple promotion. brilliant ko, brilliant ni. You don ever see any child that fails for private primary school?. All of them always pass with high marks and have you ever ask why position in class is never included?. When you tell me that the child is attending one of the Catholic primary schools where the motive is not profit, then i will believe your brilliant and double promotion story.

Abeg, help me ask well well. I always wonder where parents are rushing kids to as if they were rushed that way when they were kids. A child should enter JSS 1 at least by 10 years.

diordaves:
Now Spyder880 you've just confirmed our view and call that contractors should plough back some profit into the business to solve the challenges of the trade and pass on some of the efficiency savings to clients.

You talk of transport costs to transfer equipment to site. Instead of buying fancy cars and marrying more wives, like some of you contractors do, why not buy a Dyna Truck for example to transport equipment to site? On the long run, you save up on transport costs. You can also pass on this in-house company transport to clients and split the costs between company and client. So for example client wants to buy wood for roofing, instead of looking for third party transportation for 25k, you could present your company Dyna Truck and factor in 15k for wear and tear. I'm sure the client will gladly pay.

Then you talk of police. That one dey. But if your company truck is well marked with company name and logo with all permits fully paid, this will comand respect from police and client. Police will not be confused with the contents of a duly registered construction company.

Please contractors invest in your business. Find new ways to do old things. No business can grow without investment in appropriate technology at the required level.
Well said. Nothing more to add.

How do I handle my son's attitude towards my wife. He is just 20 months old. My wife is 5 months pregnant. My son don't want the mummy to feed, bath or play with her. We don't understand this sudden change of character. Some how, I liked it in the beginning, but it is becoming annoying and my wife is becoming visibly jealous.

Advice from matures parents needed.
It is normal. Your boy is now feeling that there is a competition and naturally your wife's attention will shift to the unborn child. Once she gives birth, you son will shift attention to his sibling and leave the two of you alone. If the sibling is a girl, he will shift attention back to the mother while the girl shifts attention to you.

I don't even know where to start from. My boy do some unimmaginable things that atimes I will be speechless. For instance, if I bought him slipas, after about 3months or so he'll use scissors to cut it, the first time he does that I scolded him and talked to him that if he doesn't want d slipas again he should have told me I will buy another one for him then we'll keep it, another person may need it. I bought another slipas but to my greateat surprise he repeated the same thing. Recently, i seized all his balls because he was too playful. Then my boy used d only transparent cellotape i bought to rap their torn book to do ball. He collected some old books, moulded it like ball and used my transparent cellotape to rap it to make it ball. Last week he used a cartoon of crayon in one day to paint nothing imagine! he took d only touch and light at home and dismantled it for no reason to mention but few. Old parents in the house what is d best way to correct/mould a stubborn boy.
It pained me to see him do opposite of what I tell him, i have been praying and still praying for him a times I punish, beat and talked to him even cry atimes. My girls r not like that. Why r boys difficult to raise. Old boys in d house what method d u wish ur parents could have used to correct u then. Pls don't mind my errors. I'll appreciate ur comments. Thanks.
If he refuses to take corrections after all these scolding, punish him by banning him from watching his favourite cartons on TV or DSTV for some hours or days.

Btw, do you have a phobia for sending children to secondary boarding schools especially the mission schools?.

364days, 17.5% of 1,800,000.

discounted interest = 315,000.

So you should be debited with: 1,800,000 - 315,000 = 1,485,000

I = PTR / Days in Year * 100

P = Principal = 1,000,000

T = 364

I = 1,000,000 - 815,107.95 (Discounted Amount) = 184,892.05

Days in Year = 364

R = Rate = ? (Unknown)

I = PTR / 36400

R = I * 36400 /(P * T)

R = 184892.05 * 36400 / (1000000 * 364)

If they debit you with 500,000 and then credit you with 92446.03, the difference will be a debit of 407,553.97. So, instead of carrying out two transactions on your account, why not just one single transaction of a debit of 407,553.97. Different banks have different ways of arriving at the same amount to be debited. Some debit the net amount straight way while others debit the principal amount and then credit the upfront interest.

I dont argue with clients sir . . . . .200K Km means 125K Miles.
1.6 = 16/10 = 8/5 which means 8km = 5miles.

8 km = 5 miles
200000 km = x miles ?

Cross multiple:

8x = 200000 * 5

8x = 1000000

x = 1000000 / 8 = 125000 miles.

x = 125,000 miles. QED.

I am creating a thread here by middle of next week about one "Borehole Expert" who I paid to do my borehole and even gave him bonus after finishing the borehole but the borehole turned out to be nothing but nightmare.

I have been patient enough with him. The borehole only lasted a little over 4 hours since we started using it before it parked up. The said nairalander has been promising to fix the problem for almost a month now without fixing it. I have rebuffed all of his request to give him another money to go to my site to fix the mess.

If I paid someone 500,000 Naira for Borehole and gave him 30,000 Naira bonus after you claimed you finished the job and my borehole is the best in town and this said borehole only lasted over 4 hours in operation, then this person is nothing but an heartless human being. This same person told me if the said borehole should have a single problem within the first year, I should contact him immediately and he will be there immediately to fix it.

I should be creating a thread with details of evidence of promises that never happened.

I know the person reads this thread very well. Hence my post here.

I am not playing with him but he thinks this is a play.
Post a link to the new thread here when you create it. Mediocrity and incompetence must be wiped out of this country. I have told people several times that the incompetence and mediocrity at all levels of governance did not start when the person got to the position and that it has been in the person right from time.

The school is UNN.
Now you are talking. You gave scanty information in the first post. You need to lay all the information bare for people to be able to help you.

Let us now wait for comments as i guess people will know how UNN admitted into her various courses last year. If the information was not released to the public last year, you can also find out from the school as i believe that there must have been a criteria used to admit students after Post Utme was scrapped.

Since it's now obvious you both graduated in ancient times, u need to get updated

As of last year when post Utme was scrapped, just few schools released their cut off points and the school's aspiring fro didn't release theirs. He's got two courses on his mind, either biochemistry/pharmacy and I for one think the result is kinda weak for pharmacy judging from how competitive it is

And ur doubt that someone who.made 320+ couldn't make A's in her WAEC holds no water abeg, have ur research done.
First bold. So from saying "I didn't post it here to get opinions from those who have failed on several attempts to gain admission into the university.", it is now the bold. This shows that you should be careful before you say such statements. It is just Addico that we said and you are already confused.

I have even checked the result again. It is Nov/Dec NECO that the OP's younger brother did that he is parading here. He should paste his WAEC and let us see. No wonder he is asking if the result can be used to study pharmacy. He is already afraid. The OP's younger brother should not even bother to apply to the likes of Ife, Uniben, UNN, UI, Ilorin, Unilag.

I didn't post it here to get opinions from those who have failed on several attempts to gain admission into the university.

That settles it cool
Your joke is funny but i forgot to laugh.

Since your super brain does not know what to do, let me outline for you what you will have to do since laziness is now the order of the day to some people.

(1) Get last year's cut-off mark for Pharmacy for the competitive federal university you want for your younger brother

(2) Check how that cut-off mark was calculated vis-a-vis the component making up JAMB mark and component making up five(5) O/Level subjects combination and the marks assigned to each grade of the O/Level result.

(3) For your younger brother, JAMB mark is unknown since he is yet to write JAMB but he has O/Level.

(4) Calculate the component making up the five(5) O/Level subjects

(5) After getting (4), you will be able to deduce what he has to get in JAMB to meet the cut-off( I want to assume that you or your younger brother know how to do this since he is suppose to have gotten a B2 in Mathematics). You can factor in a change of a margin of +/-10% for this year's cut-off. That will give an ideal of a range to target. I want to believe you or him will be able to factor in this +/- 10% since he suppose to have gotten a B2 in Mathematics.

Btw, sometimes, simple analysis by oneself solves a lot of easy issues instead of quickly rushing to Nairaland for every simple issue that requires simple common sense. Your post even lack complete information for people to help you. No name of the targeted university. So you think Universities use the same process to determine cut-off?.

As for the bold, this is the problem with this new generation. Turning a discussion upside down by introducing a trivial issue and trying to be insulting. For your information, i do not belong to the 6-3-3-4 generation. I did 6-5-4 which had an option of 6-5-2-3. Go and do a research on that first. These days, i see somebody scoring 180 in JAMB and the person is celebrating success.

If iam to do an analysis of the total of your younger brother's best 6 subjects: English C4, Mathematics B2, Biology B3, Chemistry B3, Physics C5, Agric C5, this gives 4+2+3+3+5+5 = 20. Those days, this was a poor result by all standards for a science student. For your information, i did Additional Mathematics aka Addico which is now called Further Mathematics. So, go and check when Additional Mathematics was being done in secondary schools. No be everybody fit do am that time. cheesy

Using your brain calls for no cost. Gone are the days where all u gat to check is if you've got 5 credit passes only, since post Utme's been scrapped, the new system tends to favour students with A's in their o'level result. Just last year, there was a case of an OAU aspirant with 320+ in jamb but didn't gain admission, why? She didn't have the required A's to compete with other medical aspirants in the school. Grab now?

If you read my post well btw, you could see where I typed " have in mind that post Utme has been scrapped "

Next time, don't type out of ignorance
I have heard you. He does not stand a chance. Now go back and tell him to go and rewrite WAEC/NECO.

If you know all these, then why posting a printout of the result here and also asking questions?. Why can't you use your own well developed brain cells to do your own analysis with his result and arrive at a conclusion?. If you already know all the answers to all your questions, why did you still come here to post a printout and ask questions.

Btw, iam in suspect of that 320+ by that candidate who could not score A's in relevant O/Level subjects.
