Forcefully dragging her out is humiliation. Dominique
The analogy might be Nigerian men throwing out their wives, very common in Yorubaland.

Scheming and Nigeria go hand in hand.

Very obvious on nairaland since it's mostly Nigerians here.

In the Civil Service, you obey before you complain. You hardly win a case once disobedience is involved. She shouldn’t have refused to collect the letter. It’s an offense under Civil Service code of conduct.

She should accept and then work towards changing her posting to a more favorable place on medical grounds. She’ll retire within 3 years anyway.

It’s unfortunate but she shouldn’t push her rejection further to avoid disciplinary action which could affect her retirement plans. God in His mercy will help her win the battle.
Where is the dad btw?

The op didn't mention him.

Isn't she due for retirement after 32 years? huh

It's not good for her health to be struggling for position in this manner.

Btw I don't think it's your fight, op, there are too many mother threads/references on nl, all very subjective. How can Nigerian women be having various fights all the time for decades, always one thing or another. No rest in any form, even when elderly? huh

Can't you the kids help her out so she doesn't have to feel worried, you could start a school or something if you're financially empowered.
Education › Re: Run Away From OAU Ile Ife If You Love Yourself by nlPoster: 6:11pm On Feb 10, 2020

I think felictorx is right to some extent. For Postgraduate students, OAU should be the last option. It is a No-No. Though they have sound lecturers but consider these turn-offs:

1) Your thesis won't add any point to your grade...it is just done like that, unlike other universities where it like 6 unit course. So, to attain your Ph.D. grade is totally based on coursework---such system is poor.

2) Lack of Ph.D. grade (60) means you will have to do Mphil...and OAU MPhil is close to 2 years (who have time to waste a whole two years. Why is it a waste? See the third point)

3) MPhil is not convertible to Ph.D., unlike U.I where there is MPhil/Ph.D. (After your MPhil, you will apply for Ph.D. afresh.

4) A lot of 'Bureaucracy' and red tapes...That's where you see Form A, E, F, Abstract, K, and the likes, each having its useless and unnecessary time-wasting procedures

5) Form A, for instance, will have to go to the department (you correct mistakes after it is returned to you), leave for the department (come back and correct mistakes)...while your mates in other schools are convocating... the same process till Faculty, Postgraduate College, and then your Oral Interview can be fixed. God help you if you don't have a good supervisor. I still have folks who are still there since 2014.

6) Other forms go through the same process as above....before your thesis is accepted whereas in some universities...you do your thesis and submit, and those forms do not add one value to your life.

7) When your mates are convocating and moving on with their lives, you are still doing your program in OAU..growing old...

With the points above, if you still decide to go for your PG programs in OAU (especially Masters and PH.D., well, that's your own business...do not say I don't tell you.)

Just that, in some departments, you can easily get admission, unlike U.I...If you like these disadvantages, then find a way to beat the system, but not possible, especially the grade aspect grin wink cheesy

Nice.

She needs to be encouraged and told the honest truth " no be only school dem take dey make am".

I'm tired of seeing my brothers and sisters do so many years in the school including the strike years, only to come out and decide on learning a trade.

If they had been honestly advised from the cradle, them for don become masters at their chosen trades in all the years they wasted at the universities.

My daughter just buy one gigantic sewing machine now after serving the Nation, say she wan become tailor.

It is well.
Perhaps they did school first then focused on learning a trade during their leisure time? huh

Let me tell you as a yoruba man, dont be deceived, the wickedness and scheming of a yoruba woman does not have part 2. Always assume a yoruba woman is either lying to you or not telling you the full story....it's in their DNA.
I won't argue with this because scheming especially is something Nigerians are known for. I'm not sure it's only found among Yoruba women however.

Levels of wickedness could vary depending on exposure, or place. Wickedness tends to be an African trait, so the concept of human rights would be expected to be more prevalent among those who are exposed, compared to those who are not.

You are more likely to find a "good wife" amongst the ibo women than the yoruba.
That's possible.

If you're looking for a good wife, perhaps check outside of Yoruba then let us know for sure.

Abagworo:
Igala didn't colonize Igbo but we should rather say some Igbos share blood relationship with Igala. The Nri Igbos originate from Igala and occupy Northern part of Igboland in a mix with aborigines from Awka and Orlu. It is same as all Igbos outside the core Awka-Orlu area. . . most Western Igbos equally share blood relationship with Edo/Bini in a mix with the Awka-Orlu Igbos and some Igala-Igbos too. I believe it is same with most ethnic groups as nobody can claim to be pure except you lived in total isolation.
I'm not sure it's the same with most ethnic groups, this must be why some folks are referring to assimilation within Yoruba.

Intermarriage is not always the same thing as assimilation, most groups living within other tribes do not practice the type of deep integration you're referring to, many would still retain the knowledge of their history and origins.

Then again, it might depend on the territory.

I'm Yoruba (mostly), and I must tell you me and Yoruba women are like oil and water. I just find them so hard to relate with at first, they seem to have this kind of proud, loud behaviour that makes them hard to talk to and most can be so rude, even the quiet ones can be rude. I find girls from the South East and South South to be easier to relate with they don't form like Yoruba women.
Yoruba mostly meaning?

And yes, many Yoruba men prefer SE and SS women, there seems to me more of them on nl for some reason (probably because the site owner also promotes it).

Personally, I think people should go with their preferences unless it's indicated otherwise. I also don't like situations rife within the black community irrespective of origin where the genders curse each other out anyhow. Eg:

Very strange.

An adult should have gone with her or she could have used a lantern like most of us did back then.
