Food › Re: Ramadan: Prices Of Tomato, Pepper Rise By 60% In Lagos by nogragra: 8:37am On May 06, 2019 |
NaijaCelebrity: Ahead of Ramadan, prices of tomato and pepper have soared by 60 per cent in some markets in Lagos, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
A NAN survey conducted at Mile 12, Oke Odo, Oyingbo and Iddo markets, Lagos, revealed that a 40 kilogramme basket of tomato, which cost N5,000 two weeks ago, had risen to N12,000.
Similarly, a 50 kg basket of bell pepper (tatashe) had risen to N12, 000 from its previous price of N6,000; 50 kg Chilli pepper (sombo) cost N9,000 as against N5,000, while a basket of scotch bonnet pepper (rodo) cost N13,500 as against N9,000.
A market leader at the Mile 12 Perishable Traders Association, Alhaji Haruna Mohammed, attributed the price increase to off-season effect and cost of transportation.
He, however, maintained that the prices of food items were still relatively cheaper compared to the same period two years ago.
Mohammed said the influx of perishable food items from the South-West states and Cameroon into the market would make up for the shortfall of supply from the North, and ensure that their prices were not too high.
Conversely, the price of a bag of onion decreased from N15,000 to N13, 000; 25 litres of palm oil dropped from N9,000 to N8,200 and a five-litre vegetable oil cost N2,400.

sholarr12: Having watched the first kegs of the Champions League semi finals, some lessons have been learned. Below are 5 things we learned from the Champions League:
1 Messi Is Everything: From telling Barcelona fans at the Camp Nou to stop whistling Coutinho to putting the referee under control and from scoring magical goals to creating play, Messi is everything as he is a magician, scorer, creator, and leader.
2 Liverpool Are Overhyped: Liverpool are a good team but they are not great. To be a great team, you must win trophies yet Liverpool have no trophies in decades. They constantly get close but they lose all. Their players are overhyped as well. If you have not faced Messi the way Pique and Co have faced Ronaldo, you should be humble.
3 Premiership Is Behind La Liga: There were four Premiership teams in the quarter finals but none will be in the final as Barcelona are poised to eliminate Liverpool and Ajax are to do the same to Tottenham. From Barcelona serving up a masterclass against Manchester United to winning Liverpool by 3 goals to nil, La Liga proves better than the Premiership.
4 Messi To Win Ballon d'Or: It is Messi turn to win the Ballon d'Or this season. And even if he doesn't win the Champions League, he has done enough this season to win it. 5 Barcelona Are Effective: Barcelona are without a loss this season in the Champions League and this proves their effectiveness. You have learned nothing because you don't mind your own progress but others hence forever retrogressive. The Chinese league today is getting better by the minutes because they believe in themselves and not in Europeans like unpatriotic valueless Nigerians who will not benefit from other people franchise but will want to be part of it anyway due to their legendry low self esteem and lack of nark for hardwork and incremental progress in life. |

Politics › Re: Lagos-Ibadan Railway: Amaechi In China As May Delivery Date Still Sketchy - Pics by nogragra: 2:49pm On May 02, 2019 |
AutoReportNG: All eyes are on the minister of transportation, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi if he will prove his word on the Lagos-Ibadan Railway on the May delivery date. According to The Punch Newspapers...
The Federal Government has asked the Chinese Railway Rolling stock Corporation Qishuyan, the firm in charge of the construction of locomotives for Nigeria, to speed up its work, as the tracks of the Lagos-Ibadan rail line where the locomotives are to be deployed will be ready soon.
According to the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, a significant section of the Lagos-Ibadan rail line is scheduled for completion by the end of May or the first week in June.
Amaechi, who disclosed this when he led a delegation from Nigeria on an inspection tour of the CRRC in China, stated that Nigeria needed the locomotives before the completion of work on the rail line by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.
The minister was quoted in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by the Federal Ministry of Transportation as saying, “Make it faster to construct these locomotives because we need them now.
“By end of May and first week in June, CCECC would have completed work on the tracks. What this visit has shown is that there is neither locomotives nor coaches that are ready. So if you speed up the process, we will be grateful.”
The Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation, Fidel Okhiria, said the designs for the locomotives had been completed and CRRC had started making the components.
He said, “We are expecting four motorcades for the Diesel Multiple Units, eight locomotives for passengers and seven other locomotives for freight. Eight coaches with two motorcade form a set, while the passenger coaches are independent.
“The engines we are expecting are going to be more modern and encased so that the technicians can work whether rain or shine.”
The General Manager, CRRC Qishuyan Co., Ltd, Xu Shibao, said his firm would do its best for the training and after-sales service in Nigeria.
Shibao told the Nigerian delegation that the company would further contribute to the development of Nigeria’s railway.
This is not the first times the delivery date for the Lagos-Ibadan Railway has been shifted. The minister as at last year said the railway will be completed before February of which was shifted to May again. It will be interesting to see how this will pay out.
Meanwhile, the Lagos - Ibadan Railway has 21 bridges with a total of 178 spans. 712 precast T-beams are required for the bridges. As at 17 April 2019., the last T-beam for this project was laid.
AutoReportNG got some exclusives images of the minister and hos entourage when they visited the Chinese Railway Rolling stock Corporation Qishuyan in China some few weeks backs.

ManirBK: Saudi Arabia has hinted on the possibility of establishing a refinery in Nigeria.
Minister of Energy Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Khalid Al Falih dropped the hint during a meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu in Riyadh.
Kachikwu who affirmed the Saudi oil minister’s position said Nigeria was looking towards Saudi Arabia because of the country’s successes in the sector. “We want to leverage on the huge success of Saudi government in terms of petroleum. Last year alone Saudi Aramco, an equivalent of NNPC made about $200 billion as profit.
“We have a lot of common ground, historical ties, and religious ties and there’s a need to move further. We cooperate a lot with one another in OPEC especially in the Ministry of Energy,” Kachikwu said.
He said Nigeria is already setting up a team to make the reasons for the visit a reality.
A statement from Nigeria’s oil ministry, Kachikwu had on Tuesday met with top executives of Saudi Aramco in Dhahran to crystallize ongoing discussions on collaborating with the Federal Government of Nigeria on investments in the oil and gas sector.
The minister was received by the President and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Aramco, Amin H. Nasser and the top management of the conglomerate.

HigherEd: This is crazy. Brandon Tarrant, the attacker of the Mosque in New Zealand was a Pagan/Atheist who went as far as bashing religion in his manifesto. His motivation for the attack was white supremacy and specific hatred for Islam. Though he expressed sympathy for the sufferings of Christians at the hands of Muslims in the middle east but he was NOT a Christian.
When Dylan Roof another Atheist/Pagan/Supremacist opened fire on a black church in Charlotsville, USA. Christians didn't go looking for Atheists to kill. When Jews were killed in Pittsburgh USA by an Anti semite, they didn't go looking for other people to kill.
Yet this dumb islamist went to attack a church in far away sri lanka as retaliation... Same thing happened in Calais, France. An Atheist funded magazine which mocks Jesus Christ for a living chose to mock Muhammed one day. And apart from attacking the company. These morons where threatening Christians in Asia.
Atheists drew a mocking picture of Mohammed in Denmark and these idiots started attacking Christians in Bauchi and Kaduna.
Well CNN especially, is culpable in the death of all those people in Sri Lanka. They keep passing this propaganda of Islamophobia. Well news flash, Islam definitely gives more violence to others than it actually receives. And every body who has a working brain would fear Islam. .?...to add insult upon injury the naive prime minister of New Zealand start dressing like a Muslim to appease them, the so called religion of peace. Don't get it wrong we don't rejoice over any human death that needless occur because Jesus teaches and practice peace. Not Koran in hand and bloody sword on the other hand as some are known and claim that represent peace. These are religion of Anti-christs formed 500 years after Jesus Christ Liberated mankind from the crutches of sin, what will a counterfeit impostor do years after this than satanic atrocities that we see today. Hence, this is the result on the most important Christian occasion as commanded by Jesus himself Luke 22:19. Where are the Muslims who are crying foul in Christchurch on this Srilankan atrocity...silence means consent. Come to think about it what business of Muslims is there in a place called Christchurch, if not their propensity to desecrate anything Christ but let them be informed they are small. |
