Autos / Re: How To Renew Your Driver's Licence In 24hrs ...or Less by nomad26: 3:45pm On Sep 26, 2017
I did my licence renewal last week at the capture centre in VI (water corporation rd) and I was pleasantly surprised. The whole process took about 30 mins. I followed msanda's advice and took these documents with me:
- 2 passport photos
- 2 copies of the validation page (if you pay online, please print this page AFTER payment because it has to show the validation number)
- 2 copies of expired licence

I was given a written driving test that was really basic and took less than 2 mins to complete. I opted not to do the biometrics again so they didn't give me a temporary license, just photocopy of the stamped validation page.

In total, I paid N1500 extra: N1000 for the CD and N500 verification fee (I think the person duped me o because there was no mention of any fee here).

Car Talk / Re: Nigerians Can Now Get Their Driver's License Online !!! by nomad26: 10:27am On Sep 11, 2017
Please who knows how to get to this driving licence processing centre: Iru/ Victoria Island Primary Health Centre , Water Corporation Road, off Ligali.
I'm not really familiar with Lagos. I will be doing 5 year renewal.

Does anyone know if I have to do the capture again and how long it will take to do it?

Should I go early in the morning or can I go anytime? Thanks!

It depends. Does the job fall under shortage occupation?
If yes, 446 pounds for 3 years. If not, 587. All your questions can be answered on the link I sent earlier.

Follow this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/2655931/general-uk-visa-enquiries-part
Post your questions there. I think it will be beneficial for you.

Ademidun1:

Thanks so much for your reply I really appreciate. I have earlier gone through that link you sent, I realized I didn't need much documents to send like applying for visit visa, so I wanted to be sure if only the mentioned documents on the link are needed.
Please, how much is priority service?
Thanks once again .

If you get crappy service from anyone in Nigeria o, UK or Holland, you should complain. Nothing will change if you don't speak up. Your voice is powerful.

Brightingsus:

Mate, if you want the British Embassy to leave your country they go kuku leave, whose loss? They give a 15 working day window and say if your application won't be met within that time they will contact you. Have you asked why some people get their decisions within the timeframe and some others under the same circumstances (different complexities of applications though) get theirs very late

Each country has her way of deciding applications.

What about Holland (the Netherlands)? You can't get a visa at their high commission anywhere in Nigeria now. You have to go to French Embassy or so...

What about Nigeria House in London? It took me 3 months to get my passport renewed after biometrics, as they were out of stock on passport booklets. Should I go and sue the Nigerian Govt?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by nomad26: 4:34pm On Aug 27, 2017
Ekpotek, what about the US visa process? This rubbish doesn't happen because you take your passport with you to an interview and in most cases, a decision is made immediately. After that, max one week and your passport is back in your possession.

Just to be clear, I believe if an embassy says decision time is 15 working days for a PAID service, then people have every right to be angry. An apology email doesn't cut it. In fact, they should be sending complaints to the Home Office and threaten to sue.

Please ekpotek stop defending them, it is irritating.

ekpotek:

I stand to be corrected. I have never heard of an embassy allowing applicant to keep their passport until a decision is made. If you're eager to get a decision same day, pay of 24 hours service. Haba

A friend of mine went to TLS office to withdraw his application, hoping his passport would be returned in 2 days or less. However it took one whole week, as in 7 calendar days. It is actually ridiculous how UKVI can get away with treating people like this. Why can't they allow applicants hold on to their passport until a decision is made?
mokikeoj:
Hi ddonsly, i just submitted my form. Please let me know if they actually give you back your passport on or beforeTuesday.

You should go to your bank and ask them to print out a statement of account for you, you might have to pay a small fee depending on the bank.

Ok, noted.thanks

You can pay via the TLS website under the "Added Value Services" section.

Hello everyone. I have booked an appointment for July 12, 2017 to submit a UK visa application for an elderly woman. The appointment is for Ikeja. I have made the payment for the visa fee. I am trying to pay £184 for priority processing but I cant see where to make the payment online.

Please anyone who has paid the £184 for priority processing recently please let me know how and where you made the payment.

Thank you.

My sister is also waiting, she did biometrics 5th of June although for visit visa. The news circulating is that UKVI have a lot of applications pending. Hopefully we receive good news this week.

Mzstephh:
Nawaaa o, been waiting since the 15th of June and today makes it the 15th working day. I'm really worried.

Tier 4 Student visa
Application paid for on the 9th of June
Interview and biometrics 14th
Received by ukvi 15th
Received in Sheffied 27th

And that is it embarassed, it's the 5th of July now making it 15 working days. Did anyone experience a longer waiting period too? This suspense though!

Please which location did you do biometrics? My sister did biometrics 5th June and she is still waiting for the visa, no update from them sef. Na wa for UKVI.

amehrada:
Good evening, please I applied for uk visit visa 6months for my step mom and I, we did our biometrics on 12th of June. I received a mail for both application saying the application is being prepared for consideration on the 23rd of June, then some days later got another mail for just my step mom's application saying the application is now under consideration and I didn't receive such for my own application. Yesterday I received several mails from TLS about decision made, ready for collection and dispatch by courier on my step mom's application. Up until now no updates on mine but when i checked my status with the ukvi link provided I saw decided (28 June) same as for my step mom. Is it possible both passports will be dispatched together regardless of updates from TLS on mine own passport?

1.No contract signed with those companies he work with?

2. Do they pay him cash in hand or bank transfer?

3. What is his total monthly income?

Justwise, thanks for replying:
1. No
2. Some in cash and some are Bank Transfers
3. His income is not consistent, some months between 300k to 1m while others zero sef. In the last six months sha, he said money coming into his account is ~2.6m (which is average of 430k).

If the companies he worked with agree to provide reference letter saying that he did some consulting work for them, will that be sufficient for the visa application?

Good day everyone,

A friend of mine is planning to visit his girlfriend who is working in the UK for one month. She will provide accommodation while he covers the rest of the travel costs. He works as a freelance IT Developer with different companies (so no payslips or letter of employment). Please what documents can he provide to show proof of return to Nigeria?

@justwise, please can you provide information on this case? Thanks.

Hmmm your niece should call the embassy to confirm, it sounds very much like a scam!

olanshi:

Good evening

Has anyone seeking a family reunion visa ever got a call from France Embassy and been told to meet with a Lawyer outside the embassy before? My neice got a call from France embassy one week after she applied for a Family reunion Visa, she was given a Lawyer phone number to call.. When she called the Lawyer she was told to bring certain amount of money for document verifications...

Has anyone had such experience before? or what can be done in respect to this?

cc : justwise and fellow member of the house...

Please kindly shed some light

The Nigerian Passport is at least 32pages. Since it's rather small to take a photocopy of a single page, does this mean that, it was two leaflets on a photocopied page? That is, did you have 16 Photocopied papers after making the photocopy?
I just want to have a clearer picture cos you said photocopy each page...Thank you.

Yes, it was two leaflets on a page.

Wow. I have 3 old passports. Making photocopies of each page of each passport would cost me some money.

Yes o, the guys around the tls place are making money from the photocopies. They were charging 50 naira per copy but I eventually paid 30 naira, which is still expensive so it is definitely cheaper to make your photocopies before you go there.

Good day everyone, I went to Abuja tls center yesterday to submit application for Tier 2 visa. I went with the application, my supporting documents, new and old passports and photocopies of data page. When I got there, I was asked to make photocopy of EACH PAGE of the old passport. This is just to inform you guys so you don't make the same mistake! If you are submitting old passports, make photocopy of each page, to avoid wasting money when you get there.
Anyway I really like the new system, all my original documents were returned after they scanned them. Patiently waiting for visa approval smiley

Hello guys. The maturity days, is it based on 5 working days or the whole 7 days?

It is based on calendar days, that is ' the whole 7 days'. For example, if you bid Nov. 30th 2016 for 182 days, it will mature 1st June 2017. I hope it is clear.
